Can someone post the Original german O2 XDA Orbit 2 ROM please?
Thanks very much!
Oh, I'd like to have it too. I hate it, but it's neccessary if you send the device for repairment Forgot to dump mine before flashing
I could dump if I knew how. The guide in the wikipedia contains some broken links...
So not all of the apps needed are available there.

Well, I have sent devices 2 times to O2 for repair (XDA Mini S and XDA Neo). Both times they sent me new ones (the best option ). And I had flashed them both with non-official ROMs, then flashed the original German one before sending. I'm not sure though whether I'd done Hard SPL changes - I'm not very much into it - I just followed some guides back then
So could someone please give me a setp by step guide, how to dump my O2 rom?
Thanks!
Dump
I dumped according to instructions but I don't really know what to do with the .raw files. Anyway, hope this helps:

Ist nicht schwierig, nur die Anweisungen durchlesen und befolgen
Its not hard at all, just follow the instuctions given in the WIKI.
I compiled my own backup ROM out of a ROM dump I made before flashing HardSPL and the WWE ROM. Just in case, you never know

So did you dump the German O2 Orbit 2 ROM?
Can you post it somewhere please?
Jap, the WIKI-ELF-ROM-Dump entry.
The link to the toolset is broken, but google knows everything
I extracted all the RAW files, treated them according to the WIKI and the result in the end was a nice RUU_signed.nbh weighing 103'789kb. I'm uploading right now. Will post the link when done.

I dumped my ROM. I followed all instructions given in the ELF-ROM-DUMP WIKI. In the end I had a RUU_signed.nbh, 103'789KB in size, so around 101MB.
Unfortunately, while uploading, my notebook went to standby. I'll upload it again, it takes me 30 minutes. Stay tuned, I'll post the megaupload link in this thread.

Since this is an English forum, I'll answer in English.
Yes and no. You can decompile the ROM dump and this way you gain access to all the files in the ROM. If you can decompile the nbh file, I don't know... I'll see if I can find the fms_api.dll in my backup files.
Edit: RAR attached

Ok, I like to cook my own Appelflap rom . Just for myself. I thought it was a good idea to start with the 2.07 rom and just strip all the unnessecary packages, nothing more and nothing less.
Is there a easy way to start this project up or do I really have to delve in all those documentation about rom-cooking No really, I'm asking myself if there's a pragmatic way of cooking my own rom by starting from a base rom, strip some software and eventually, when I'm in the mood and have some time, teach myself some advanced stuff, like adjusting the os, drivers, manila etc.
Maybe someone can give me some pointers so I can get a head start. If it can't be done, if I really have to work my way through all that rom-cooking documentation, please let me know also.
+1 on that. i am also interested in an easy way of cooking a rom.
In dutch for Appleflap:
Hmmm.
EDIT: Gevonden! Kijk in tread 622230 (Gewoon bovenin na ?t= invullen)
De benodigde documenten zijn engels!
In English:
Hmmm. I don't know. I saw earlier a method, but that was too difficult.
EDIT: Founded! Tread no. 622230
Ok, I have the ingredients
LOL, just dumped my first rom. I'm feeling like a baby coming into this world
Ok, that part was easy
In case someone is interested:
1. Extract a signed (official or test) rom with Winrar (or..) and have the RUU_signed.nbh file ready. I extracted the 2.07 test rom.
2. Then (or before, whatever you like) extract Ervius Visual Kitchen (get it here) to a folder
3. Then (or before, whatever you like) read the following guide with a lot of impatience Sous-Chef's Guide till post nr. 4 (this one)
(I think, pragmatically spoken, one can read the info before this post when it is needed)
I'm now going to follow the rest of the Sous-Chef's guide, because I think it is really well written for newbies....
Maybe some newbies wants to jump in so we can start our own cooking class. I'm sure some chefs will help us out if we are making a mess of it
If you download a Kitchen what is based on the 2.07 ROM, then it's easy.
But building your own Kitchen.. Can take some time.

5 min work? Ok, I can miss that amount of time. I have dumped the 2.07 rom and now i'm copying all the folders to the root directory of the ervius visual kitchen folder. Do I have now a "2.07 based kitchen"?
Peter, I hope when it gets really messy I can ask your help. For now I'm going to follow the sous-chefs guide. Is that a good idea? Or do you know some better guides.
(Dutch answers are welcome, I will translate into appelflap-english )

2 hours, and you just said 5 minutes But that would be really nice Peter!
Meanwhile I'm going to mess up my own kitchen (I'm back at step 1, copied the dump folder but some files couldn't be copied because the kitchen was still open/running)
@wouterg1: How are you doing? Have you dumped a rom yet. It is really easy. (the description of the folders at the beginning of the sous-chef guide are making sense when you dumped a rom. [DUTCH]Geleuter of SYS, EXT etc folder gewoon skippen.

if your using evk then you dont need to to copy anything as it sets everything up in the dump folder. in theory any way
do take time to read theres lots of info out there
if you just want to
rebuild the dump then you will need to recmod ntfconfig. read up on what recmod does, but as your using evk you can take the file straight out off the folder paste it somewhere like your desktop. delete the original ntfconfig folder and move the file back in to the notification manager files folder.
@ appelflap Still uploading i got 28KB , i will sent u pm when ready...
But fards is right making with EVK is very easy ! U can do this in 5 min !

Ga deze thread volgen !

Thanks. You're right, there isn't any need to copy the dump.
I'm trying to read up, but there's a lot of info. Basically what I want to do is to remove some packages, adding some of my own and set the device up the way I do it now after I flash a new rom (tweaking the reg, moving some start menu folders, creating a couple of shortcuts, changing the bootscreens etc.) Nothing more really. I'm assuming that the base rom is running just fine for my purpose right now. No need to alter the cache, page pool etc etc.
What do you think, is it worthwhile to cook for just this purpose? Do I have to delve deeper into altering page pools, XIPs, cache's? I mean, doesn't the rom slow down when you just dump it, remove some stuff from it, recompile it and flash it again?
(Comments from other chefs are also very welcome)

Hi there,
I want to make first steps in Android on my HTC HD2, but I´m unsure to do it.
The Problem is - I have absolutely no practice on Android and need to switch back to WinMobile if I don´t like AndroidOS...
Is there a way to switch back in case of wurst case?
Sorry for that bad english, but schooltime was a long, long time ago...
Update:
I thought, android replaces WinMob... Am I right? some threads made me unsure..
Or will Android simply running in a VM on WinMob?
Thanks for help
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
Let me try to answer that one before someone hits you that you have to start reading!
There is absolutely no problem to test this out!
All that happens is that you start Android from WinMobile so Winmobile will stay on your HD2.
You have to 'install' Android on your SD-card. I placed 'install' between ' ' because you just copy the files on the card and it works like that!
If I was you I would get a clean SD-card and copy the Android build on it.
Just make sure that you have a folder called Android with files called Zimage etc copied in that folder. Copy the 1GB data.img file also in that Android folder (makes 1st start faster).
So now that you have done that just maybe reboot your HD2.
Go to your speicherkarte and VERY important !! click first CLRCAD.exe. It will do nothing but it is needed. Then you can press haret.exe which will start Android.
The first time it can take minutes.
Ok now go and enjoy Android and use the search button to look for answers and problems.
OK, Thanks...
I´ve started reading a lot, but it was still too much for me...
All I needed to know was answered by you in 20 words, I hoped to become an answer like this...
thanks a lot
Happy android, bro

good form
nice to see a noob question not being flamed, good form lukesan
Hi All, just for your information:
On the German Samsung website i found the FAQ item [19123] which says that Gingerbread is coming to Germany on 06.06.2011
So I start a chat with a support guy and asked for the missing update. His answers are:
Cause of some problems the Update is deleayed
They work hard on it to relase the update within the next few days
And they will release Gingerbread 2.3.4!!!
I can't wait to see if this is true!
I hope so... 2.3.4 would be fine.

I apologize for my German post, too!
You can reach the FAQ Item by the following steps:
Visit Samsung[dot]de
Click Support (upper right corner)
Click FAQ
Search for "Gingerbread"
this is what i was told from samsung:
"Es wird kein deutsches Update der Version 2.3.3 geben. Die Version die zum Update angeboten wird, wird 2.3.4 sein.
Einen definitiven Termin kann ich Ihnen nicht nennen. Meiner Meinung nach wird es in den nächsten Tagen für freie Geräte soweit sein."
NICE!!!
Well, i heard the same a few minutes ago from the support. Maybe without the battery drain bug by default

I know it is 8th already. But the question is did they know about the date. If they had no idea, then of course they say no to you.
maybe thats some new inside decision, as i said my info is about two weeks old
on the other hand after releasing test version of 2.3.4 for such a crapphone as galaxy mini who knows what will follow next
on one more hand why not release latest update to sgs2 first (it brings talk with video for example) so why not sgs2? maybe for test on earlier model or maybe they are talkin bout #2 from begining ;]
maybe because the sgs2 is more in the child age rather than the sgs, lets hope, that the 2.3.4 update would that right as we wanted it - and please no tw4 wishes
Gud news. No reason to use cm7 2.3.4 then

I thought there's no way to edit RBM files to date? I might try my hands on something (using ho1ods source) myself, but that might take a long time.
Alright, I've taken a look at the RBM files internal structure, and it doesn't look any good :-/.
While the internal structure itself is actually pretty easy, the problem lies in the embedded images. Four(!) different compression methods are used: LZ16, LZ32, QMG16 and QMG32. No way that I can do this all on my own. I could do decode/encode for LZ16/LZ32, but QMG is used for most.
The only chance that I see right now is, IF RBM is also used for Samsungs Android FWs that we'll get support from this side.
Maybe RBM step by step..
Step 1 disable Pictures... like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27932409&postcount=124
Step 2 could be replace content... or replace by other Pic from other RBM...
If I have more time... I will play again with bada SDK...
Maybe easier to try modified RBM instead RC1 flashing on device...
Best Regards

Have you tried Achotjan's SEMC Debrand Engine CM 7.2 ROM? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400384 It's fast, has Xperia S' Firmware, apps and even original lockscreen. Also, you can try DiKej's DiXperia 8 ROM, which is very similar; also based on Xperia S theme/interface and CM 7.2.
Or, if you want ICS fast and stable, I would recommend Achotjan's SEMC Debrand Engine CM 9 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965154 (see the pseudo-review made here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164553)
If you don't like Sony's interface and you want ICS Google/original one - this is it: X10forevers' Slimbean v 4.0 Kickass Edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064389.
