basically just pop the thing in your comp...let it find it
then go to my computer>right click on the SD disk>hit format...
it will ask you
the defaults are usually what you want. then click format.

or give pocketmechanics a try
or format it in a sdcard reader on the pc

I tried out wp7 on my phone a couple days again, but now has reflashed to nand android. The problem is that my sd is only recognized as having 200mb worth of space when in fact it is a 16gb card. How can i fix this problem?

Ah, C'mon, please search the forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
grab the partition manager from there and repartition your sd card and you are back to bussines.
this will work
download Attach Files and this should work then right click on card and format again fat 32 quick plz give me thank this will work
Also, you can format your sd card from android itself. Go to settings, unmount your sd card and format it. Easiest way.
If you have a custom rom you can format the partitions from the recovery menu too
im really confused so i want to unmount it plug in the usb and use window formatter to reformat is?

[Q] Android can't see MicroSD card

As said, Android can't see my SD. I have CleanDroid installed on NAND.
When I insert the SD in the phone, appears an icon on the top that says "Now it's possible to remove the SD safely". If i remove the SD it says that it's removed, and when i reinsert it, again "Now it's possible to remove the SD safely". Obviously i can't install apps in the sd through "APP2SD", can't use Waze cuz it says that doesn't find the SD card in the phone, the same appears with the camera that tells that if i want use camera i need to insert an SD. BUT THE SD IS STILL THERE!!! what do I wrong with it?
I tried to change my 8GB SD with a friend's 2GB SD... but still the same. I tried to go in Settings, Memory, "Install SD" too, but it only tells again that i can remove the sd safely...WHAT THE HELL I WROOOOOOONG?!?!?!?! xD
EDIT: I forgot, i tried to change the ROM too, tried about 5-6 different ROMs but it still doesn't work...
Did you try formatting with Panasonic formatter?
You're just inserting the SD card right? You're not pressing amount SD card in settings right?
Its look your cards r not compatible with HD2 card reader. I had same issue with about 3 or 4 cards.
The best way is to use genuine SanDisk cards !

hi guys, there is an update: today i woke up and tried again to insert an sd card. If it's formatted in NTFS or in exFat it says "The SD is damaged. Do u want to try to format?". So i answer yes, it formats the card and then says again the same thing "The SD is damaged. Do u....". From there whatever SD i will insert wont work cuz it will say the same thing. If i try to insert a 2GB Sandisk SD it wont work, the same for my 8GB Kingston and everything else. If i flash again the ROM (the same or another) it tells only that I can safely remove the SD card...BUT I DON'T WANT TO REMOVE IT! I WANT TO USE IT!!! xD so i think my problem is something like a "loop". The telephone remembers his last one choiche and whatever I will do it will give me the same response for every SD. If I format it will be the same...
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I'M THE ONLY ONE PERSON WITH THIS FU*** PROBLEM???
I sometimes have this problem - it sometimes does what you describe or says that the card is Damaged.
The only way i've found to fix this issue is to format the Card on a Linux machine - i have a laptop that i can dual boot with Ubuntu - i remove the partitions on the card and format it fresh to NTFS using the Disk Tools in Ubuntu and it works a charm every time....
Hope this helps - it is a bit of an annoying issue!
Cheers

Download easus partition master and delete all of the partition on your sd card. Then select the unallocated space and format it to FAT 32.

How are you trying to connect the SD card? I assume via an SD card reader but if not then you need to try it with one of them.
*Added option "ClearSD MBR". which erase MBR, so card can be formatted via any program after WP7 boot ("200 Mb problem").

I don't think you will be able to access the contents of the SD but you can go on the partition tool you have (e.g. Easus, Panasonic SD formatter etc) and delete the partition as yz.hd said, then allocate the available space to Fat32. Alternatively, use icke's method

format sdcard exFAT

I've searched and can't find an answer to this question.. I have the "mf3" firmware update on my phone and the root method I found says I need to use an sd card that is formatted exFAT, not FAT32. Can someone please point me in the right direction or explain how to do this. I've formatted card on windows but it doesn't give me an option on the format type
Use EaseUS Partition Home
Google for it.

got some problems yesterday. what I did was find a sd card adapter. then go to my computer right click that sd card. and then click format. it will let you select the fat32 or exfat and something else. if you try to format that micro sd by inserting the sd card to the phone and connect the phone to computer. It will NOT let you format as exFat.
so go find a sd card adapter.

Of course, there is deeply hidden top secret procedure to follow, which would allow you to do it, although Windows systems are normally preventing Fat32 formatting over 32GB. Follow it HERE.
Personally, I prefer Ridgecrop's fat32 format with nice GUI...

Thanks for the tip, just to confirm, i need to convert my 64gb to fat32 so i can format my sd card?
have you tried formatting is using your phone?
the basics: are you using an SD card adapter? if so, check if the write protect switch is toggled.

It is your choice. You can format it either: exFAT, NTFS, Fat32. Your phone may support anything except NTFS. Your computer can format it natively under exFAT or NTFS.
I'd try to format it via phone, first. If phone cant recognize it correctly, I'd try ExFAT. finally, I'd use third party soft to make it Fat32.

From the screenshot, you have opened several explorer windows. If one of it is pointed on the card, format cannot access the card properly.
Secondly, I hope you have run the guiformat as administrator?
Finally, looking on your other posts, if you were unable to format the card under the phone, please copy all your files to PC, and try to format it from PC, under normal Windows procedure, as NTFS. If that will fail - most likely you have faulty card.
I guess you should read microSD card reviews before buying them. That's why I chose a Samsung microSD card. I have read that Samsung phones have had problems with sandisk cards.
