I got my T-Mobile SDA and ofcourse i would like to upgrade it. I found these instructions : http://user.cityline.ru/~ronswens/Tutorials.htm and have few questions.
1) Is any SD card required for upgrade (how much does it cost on disk space?)
2) At which state should update programs be started? During bootload, "the red-green-blue-bar screen" or when the device boot is complete?
3) My phone tells me this:
Typhoon PV/DVT
IPL 1.00
SPL 1.01.0109
GSM 0.3.18.60
Which step is next on the upgrading process?!
I am so confused about whole thing. SuperCID doesn't work (it throws me error - "RAPI Init failed: Client DLL not found" Though i have run cert.cab on my device). Is there something I need to unlock more? What? How?
Ps. I Also tried T-Mobile SDA official update utility (just for testing) but after i've started updating (and seeing progress bar at 0%) my phone boots and gets into "the red-green-blue-bar screen" and nothing happens; Update utlity throws me some connection error and that's it...

1) No.
2) The SPV Service and SPL flasher should be run with the phone connected switched on and connected via Active Sync. The OS is flashed through mtty so for that to work you have to disable USB connections in Active Sync and reboot into the boot loader (red-blue-green screen).
3) Follow these (http://karhoe.byethost33.com/content/view/35/1/) instructions.
As to why SPV Service fails, make sure the phone is application unlocked before you install the certificate and run the Super CID app.

I was updating my new i-mate SP3 (typhoon) to the latest i-mate ROM 2.4.33.11 which completed successfully but now every time I turn on the phone it goes directly to the bootloader tri-color screen. I tried several times to update the ROM again but it does'nt help. It shows the proccess completed successfully but the phone is still stuck in bootloader mode.
In the bootloader screen it shows the following
IPL 1.00
SPL 2.5.0102
I even tried to flash the ROM through an image of Orange4114_ALL_SPL1010091 on a miniSD card but it gives an error message
"Not allowed update!"
Please help me figure out how to get my phone working again.

Hi all,
I have the same problem, but I didn't try the mini-sd boot.
surfturtle, will you kindly send me the way?
Thanks
Hi guys...
I don't have the Typhoon and don't know if this will work for you, but this is at least how we fix this problem on the Hermes:
Enter into bootloader using mtty.exe and run the command "set 14 0" and "task 8". Phone will reboot and start OS.
If it doesn't work, then try the SD flash method mentioned by surfturtle. Keep in mind that if your device is not superCID the image file should match the CID of your phone (must be an original shipped update from your vendor). This method consist on:
1) extract the rom image from the rom upgrade exe (winrar or cabextract can be used for that) and you'll find a .nbf file.
2) Rename it to TYPHIMG.nbf
3) Format your SD card in FAT32
4) Put TYPHIMG.nbf on the root folder of your SD card
5) put sd card on the phone, and enter into bootloader
6) confirm flashing on screen, and wait until the process is finished (do not reset it, will take about 30min).
Check the hermes wiki if you need more information on any of this.
Good luck!

thanks pof,
but where would I get mtty.exe and where will I see "set 14 0" & "task 8"

I-mate ROM
Hi, I did the upgrade through the PC but the device info still shows the old ROM: 2.1.33.13 No error messages and the phone keeps hanging on me.
Is this version of ROM the Arabic one? If not, can someone post or point to where I can download the arabic version? I did not find it on the I-mate website.
Thanks in advance,
I-mate SP3 (?rom 2.1.33.13)
Whats needed:
TyphoonNBFTools: http://w1.whatcounter.com/dlcount.p...yphoonNBFTools_0.3_SPL1010064_SPVServices.zip
Any Official Rom (I used I-Mate SP3 WWE).
A Typhoon running Windows Mobile 5.0.
Reverting Back:
Run TyphoonNBFTools and Open the SPL1010064.nbf. Right click on SPL in the bottom part of the screen and choose Emergency Flash. If this is the first time you have used the program you will get a prompt on your phone to run the runtimes. Choose yes. Click OK to flash the new bootloader to your phone. Next disable Activesync by turning off USB connections. Turn off your phone. While holding down the Camera button insert the USB cable, the phone should run the bootloader and you will be presented with the tri-color screen. It should say USB in the bottom corner. Now run Mtty and choose USB connection. Hit enter in the blank white space. You should now see Cmd>. Type "info 2" without the quotes. You should see some information about your phone. Next type "format BINFS" agains without the quotes. This one is case sensitive. You should see format complete or something along those lines. Now close Mtty and re-enable USB connections. Run the exe from the update you downloaded and follow the instructions. Your phone should now boot back up to WM2003.
For those stuck in bootloader mode you will need to run mtty and reflash the wm5.bin to the phone then follow the steps above.

Man! Can't thank you enough for this. I took my phone to the service centre, willing to pay for the repair, and they could not do it. Every thing works fine now. Very good manual, clear instructions and correct info!
THANKS!
Hi
I Am Trying To Follow The Procedure Mentioned. But When I Right Click On Spl I Am Not Getting 'emergency Flash' Active.
Can U Please Assist Me Regarding This
You need TyphoonNBFTools.dll installed on your phone. Try running TyphoonNBFTools and selecting Tools->Immediate Flash Tools->Test Immediate Flash. It should automatically install the required stuff for you. Check you phone when you run the program. You should get a prompt to installed a program from unknown publisher. Make sure to choose yes.
Stuck in bootloader
Just trying to do this following my question here.
I though it was going well but I have a major problem now! I managed to do the emergency flash, but every time I boot I just get the tricolour bootloader screen (IPL 1.00, SPL 1.01.0064) and can't get any further. Any ideas please? I have tried using mtty to load wm5.bin but get the error "MTTYDownloadImageNot allow operation!"
I have also tried re-doing the "format BINFS" and doing the above again but still no joy.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
maybe u need to make a "goldcard"
my feeler (o2 xphoneII) lives again after flash with goldcard.
I can't find a way to create one for Typhoon, can you point me in the right direction?
I try flash Amadeus = Qtek 8100 with UpdateTool from Qtek 8310.
Update process stopped at 74% , and UpdateProgramm closed.
Now my Qtek 8100 not Powered ON , and can't enter in boot mode (tricolor screen) with "Camera" button hold + USB cable conneting.
PC don't see any USB devices when I connected my Qtek 8100 to USB port.
I think I erased Boot loader in my Qtek 8100 (but not sure).
Is any method for repair ?
WBR !

i also got that problem but i reinstalled the patched RUU again and my phone now boot but i have not been able to go back to the 2003 as i insalled WM5 but still cant format the BINFS
If already have patcher the bootloader with the guide to upgrade to wm 6.0 can I ignore to do it again? I mean flash bootloader again ?
I have Cingular 8125 unit with Mobile 5.
Tried to upgrade to version 6 and apparently I screwed.
- First I created a backup with a SpriteBackup and got a file "PocketPC_Backup_2007-08-29.pbf"
- Than I run "MDA_software_update_226102_22610105_022511.exe". It failed, but after the reset I was able to get back to the OS.
- Than I tried "ROMUpdateUtility.exe". It went to 99% and than crashed. After the reset I am getting three color screen with the following:
RUU
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
USB
I tried to recover, but it is asking me for ActiveSync. The ActiveSync is not running because the phone is in the RUU mode.
Now, how to restore the operating system from the RUU mode?
How to read CID block of my device from RUU mode?
I already read the following threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315178
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
but all references are referring to a "live" unit with ActiveSync. Nothing about loading from RUU.
I appreciate any advice.
i have the same problem...any solutions
It was fixed.
I went to:
http://www.america.htc.com/support/8125/software-downloads.html
and downloaded the following software: RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1.exe
Please note:
The download speed is 7-8 kbps. It took few hours to download 53Mb.
The procedure:
- Press and hold the Photo and Power key buttons to enter into the RUU mode
- connect a USB cable
- double click on "RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1.exe"
- Follow the menus and wait 10 min
It will stop on 85% and you may think that it failed, but just wait.
i ran that and it said my nbf file or something is outdated....
Hi All, I'm going to tell my story:
I have a Qtek8020 and i've tried to upgrade my phone to wm6 directly so i've followed the Karhoe's tutorial for typhoon and all steps has sucessfuly done but at the end when i'm restarting the phone it asked me for "the first start set up"(date, ect...) and just after that i can see the home for few seconds and a message appear:
"SIM Failure"
Unknown SIM status. (error 262144)
the phone is block on this screen and it "lock" but i can't unlock when i'm press the first softkey there isn't any reactions... (the phone is not completely freezing, the clock in the taskbar run normaly)
The battery status is unknown ( appear with a cross in taskbar)
I decided to downgrade to wm2003 but the activesync connection isn't possible so i don't replace my old SPL and i must keep the 1.01.0109 version....
I finally decided to try wm5 so i install it and the phone run (almost) normaly (a few freezes, the battery status\information is not fonctionnaly, and at this moment i don't have any sim card so i don't test the GSM fonctions....
My problem is here : In wm6 or wm5 I CAN'T :
- have a activesync synchronisation
- charge my phone battery
i'm in IPL 1.0
SPL 1.01.0109
After all my upgrade\downgrade i've clean HIVE and Format Part.
Anybody have an Idea for the message "Sim unknown status" and for the problem about the battery ???
Thanks for read my Thread ^^
Hi there! I was just wondering what I can do about the following:
trying to install the "Radio Leo 2.15.50.14"; what I've done so far
battery is more than 50%
active-synch-connection stands (at least as long as it isn't being tried to start the flash)
hibernate is off
faster-data-sync is off
tried on all usb-ports
deactivated temporary firewall & a/v program
already tried to execute the program after i got into bootloader
system is sadly to say win7 x32 (sadly because the device-center first says "connected" and when I start trying to update the version suddenly it's "disconnected" and the device-center kills itself) so it'd be deeply appreciated if someone could help me out here!
greets
ps. forgot to say that I've already flash to spl-2.08 - successful! so i was able to smile at least at the message "we hacked it"
First of all welcome to XDA-Developers.
I'm a little bit confused. Have you installed SPL or HSPL?
You have another option to install latest RADIO:
You can download latest ROM3.14 from HTC homepage by enetring your HD2's serial number.
To install it you have to be on SPL1.66.
But you will also get SPL3.03.
Which tool did you use for flashing radio?
I recomend LeoAdvancedRUU.exe.
For all flashing tools: run them as Administrator under Win7!
