High resolution mode in Internet explorer mobile - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

There is high resolution option IE mobile but it isn't present in the version which I have on my XDA Exec.
Does any one know of how I can get hold of a copy of IE with the high res option.

same question here...
is there any registry hack to enable the option?
naboo

Maybe you have an older ROM on your device, that doesn't support hi-res in IE. A ROM upgrade should solve the problem.

For me I found a work around was to use MvRTrueVGA (freeware) found at the link below:
http://www.jaml.com/store/
This makes most things appear in VGA resolution. Certain things didn't appear correctly but no show stoppers (You can always switch back to qVGA using VGAtoggle found in programs section).
Plenty of other threads around stating side effects of this program.

remote desktop resolution setting - terminal services client

Hi,
I've searched the forum. There are many threads about Terminal Services client problems; however they are in general about full screen availability.
My problem is somewhat different:
I am looking for resolution setting like in the Windows XP Terminal Services client.
Is there any software or hack that enable this ?
I want to be able to manage a bigger area of the remote desktop.
So I need a client which would change the remote desktop resolution setting.
I can't believe that MS didn't put a client with this capability in WM5.
If that's not possible, maybe I cold try to use a virtual screen software that would allow higher resolution on my PPC device with panning ???
Is there some sort of application for this ?
Please DO FOLLOW my articles / DO use the forum / local Wiki search engine - I've also answered your q in both the Wiki and .
In a word: with TSC, you can't.

Thank you I'd already read the first 2 pages but the answer is in 3rd page I guess. I'll read it. I hope there is "hope"
At this moment I have a more urgent problem:

Sure there is - all the reviewed apps allow for ANY remote desktop resolution; it's only TSC that doesn't.
I have a very bad restriction: I can only use remote desktop protocol because of y work company policy.
It's not much of a solution, but use Nyditot and enlarge your virtual screen size. Then shrink to fit the display, and it'll match your screen resolution.
V
vijay555,
I tried Nyditot and it's impressive. Really nice to see like 640x480
However, I couldn't adjust the screen alignment. My pointer does not go to some areas of the screen. How can I do pointer alignment ?
Ooops I made a mistake.
Now because of Nyditot my device does not boot up.
It stays in the splash screen forever.
Is there anything else then Hardreset ?
mrmrmrmr. I've used Virtual display on a SPV M5000 and with the default rom it would freeze as soon as I booted to enable it and a hard reset was required.
I tried it again after flashing a different rom and it worked a treat. Since then I've loaded various AKU3 roms and now WM6 and Virtual Display has worked with all but that original Rom.
Afraid you'll need to hard reset but try different roms to see if you can find one that VD is compatible with
If you get it working VD will allow much larger screens than 640x480 if you can stand scrolling around.

What exactly is RealVGA and is every software available compatible with it??

I saw some i780 images with RealVGA and I just have to admit it was the best square screen I have even seen for a PPC. This seems precisely what I want for my screen. Could someone please explain what exactly is it, and how it works? and if all softwares are automatically compatible with it, or would I have to sacrifice my software collection in order to use it???
BTW, what screen resolutions does it work with and would my Treo 750 support it??
I always thought you needed a VGA screen to use realVGA or anything like that, so i don't think it would be possible on a treo. Then again i'm not entirely sure so i would wait for someone else to confirm.
RealVGA, essentially, makes everything smaller.
The point of this is to take advantage of a high resolution screen (since WM doesn't). In your case, it will probably make windows unusable as the 240x240 resolution would end up making text so small that it's illegible.
It's mainly meant for 640x480 screens although 480x480 as well as 320x320 screens appear to be usable.
RealVGA, or TrueVGA as I like to call it, basically disables pixel-doubling that WM uses to make all programs work well. This can really only be used on devices that have more pixels than 320x240. So a VGA screen of 640x480 will show 4x the about of data in TrueVGA mode as it would in normal mode.
The downside is that not all programs will work properly. This is a developer issue, and it is best to contact them to resolve this problem. I would suggest putting your device into TrueVGA mode and trying out the programs that you use, and see if you are happy with the results.
I have put a package together in the link below that you can use for testing purposes, and see if it is something you like or not.
Personally I only every use my device in TrueVGA mode as I hate the lost space as a result of the large icons on my x51v. But it will come down to personal preference and you are best to try and see for yourself.
Cheers

RealVGA actually changes your dpi. The stock i780 is using 128dpi which is something not common. Most devices are using 96 dpi. I believe RealVGA was written is to maximize the available screen. Of course with 96 dpi, the letters are also smaller, and it might pose some difficulty in readin texts on the screen.
However, others are still using RealVGa mainly one can maximize the screen. Also, the display though small, makes it look more sharp.
As to the programs, I'm not sure what you have. For myself, I am using PocketCM (modded to fit in the i780), Audio Manager and the Diamond WM Player Skin (modded to fit in the i780). I also installed the HTC Today plugin.
I also had modded SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 (I've since uninstalled it), I have SBSH Weather (using slikkie's sbsh weather skin). Quite a few software can run under RealVGA, it depends on what you have actually.
Hope this helps.

Search for the nadavi 3g dialer for i780. Install and you will be able to make video calls.

X1 OzVGA

Hi everyone
Ran OzVGA on my X1 so i thought i would start a thread and share the results of the 800 x 480 screen res.
I'm not familiar with OzVGA,
Please can you elaborate for the ones that don't know what it is?
Basically it is a software package that shrinks the resolution of the screen so its allows for extra space 4 times the size if i am correct.
Be warned though it is not completly compatible with WM6.1 as there are a few bugs but it is very good for internet surfing.

Is there an advantage to using this over Opera? Wouldn't you need a magnifying glass for real with this thing?

I can test it for you!
Hello,
I found your little app quite interesting, seems simple and intuitive.
I will test it, and give it a try for my next poker tournament. =)
I'll come back to you to give you my appreciation / comments.
Thanks for your good work!
i would love to use it but on my Diamond is doesnt work right cuase of the resolution
Hope for an update

I'd love to try it out, but as with the user above, my diamond runs at vga.
Would really love to see a vga version, as this is one of the apps ive really wanted for my phone.
Thanks for your contribution!

[Q] Windows Mobile 6.0

I asked this elsewhere, but this is a better place to post i think.
Is it possible to have Windows Mobile 6.0 run on the HTC Touch HD? If so, what ROM would I need? I want an English version. I need to run some software on it which doesnt work with WM6.1 and WM6.5
roms have to be 100% custom made with just the correct drivers for it to work on a device
it would be a first if a rom cooker spend too much time cooking an older version then what came with the device be it wm6 or wm5 for that matter
so would not hold my breath
Shame, we needed to get ~80 of these downgraded to WM6.0 for the software to work. I wonder if Orange would accept 80 returned phones
Have sw compatibility problems? I used on WM6.1 all programs from WM5 w/o problems ^^
80 Devices? You could PM directly a cooker and ask him about your problem: you could find a solution

80!?! Holy crap?? What are those 80 HDs used for??
It could be possible but you would need to find WVGA resolution files for the WM 6.0 SYS build first. I don't think there were any WM6.0 WVGA devices.
Got a load of phones that we issue to satellite engineers for work. We have a bit of software than rubs on the phones and the engineers use it to get customer information, allocate stock to the customer, activate the customers hardware and subscription services ect.
We have never been able to get it to work with WM6.1 or WM6.5
It gives some error about graphics or display or something along those lines.
We currently use the HTC Kaiser (TyTnII) which came with WM6.1 and we had to flash them all to WM6.0 for the software to work.
Without the software, all the staff are unable to work.
Also, is there a way that I can install certain software and configure settings on a windows mobile device, then make a backup of that device and flash it to all the other devices? Its just that having to flash 80+ devices to windows 6.0 and then install framework, then software, then setup messaging and GPRS settings and a few other dependencies can be time consuming (about 30mins per device). When this is done for 80+ devices, well....you get the idea...
Have you tried WVGA fix?

With this you can change the screen to VGA which the program might work with.

Yes, you can do this with backup software like Spb Backup.. it backs up the phone's installed software and registry to a file which you can execute on another phone so that it is restored to the exact same way as on the original phone.
Or you can use something free called Sashimi.
Another thing is, if the ROM has User Customization built in, you can have the ROM look for a file called SDConfig.txt on your storage card, which contains a list of CAB/XML files on your SD card to execute automatically after a flash.

It will most definitely be the WVGA resolution that is stuffing the software up, all issues with software not running under windows 6.1 on the HD are caused by one of two issues:
1) Software dependencies, ie. Compact Framework version - I have never came across a software dependency issue that cant be fixed
2) WVGA vs VGA resolution, and in this case with it being a graphics issue you will definitely be able to get it running using the WVGA fix quoted by rovex.
All you need to do is install the WVGA fix, do a soft reset and use the program to change it to VGA mode before launching your application which wont work, i can all but guarantee this will fix the problem, of course the only issue is you will have to change the res before launching the app all the time.
I would also suggest you contact the manufacturers of the software (or if its in house contact your in house development department) and tell them to make it work in WVGA resolution, this should only be a minor change, after all they dont need to move all the controls around just ensure it loads even it dosnt use the whole screen.

I tried using that tool, but it still didnt work. Instead I just got a screen saying "We're Sorry" and something about cprog.exe has stopped working.
We have been told that it needs to be run on version 1.81.61.2 on the Kaiser, apparently this is the display or graphics version or whatever that is required for it to run, but im thinking this is the number that shows on the bottom right of the device when powered....
Anyway to find out exactly whats causing this error or any other work around?

I would suggest talking to the developer/manufacturer of the software your trying to get to work to see if they can modify it to work WVGA resolution. This would most likely be your easiest route, especially when all new devices will be on wm6.5 or later and not compatible with wm6.0

Yes, if the WVGA fix dosnt work then I can only assume that the software has been specifically designed to be locked to only work on the Kaiser phone, the only way you are going to fix this is to contact the manufacturer or employ a software engineer to reverse engineer the software and make it work on the HD, which could be costly and time consuming.
