Video files from SD card - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

Is it possible to have videos stored on the SD card appear in the video manager interface in the cube? It's strange and frustrating that music files on the SD card will appear in the audio manager, but not pictures of videos, at least that I can find. am I missing something?

Hi, i´m new in this, but:
move your video files to a folder called DCIM\100MEDIA.
It's what I did, and it works.
Probably there is a better way, but i'm a beginner.

Thanks. this works for my pictures, but if I put videos into that folder, I still can't see them. do I need different sub-folders for pics and vids?

I moved my videos from my old nokia to that folder and I can see them in the video app in te cube. Mi software is the Vodafone spanish version, may be differences. Sorry.

What format are your videos in? Probably only works for formats that the camera will take movies in. i.e. not if they're .avi's.

file structure for album? album from SD?

I have been looking for how people are getting their mp4s onto their phones and syncing it with there album? i cant seem to get them to load from the sd card and would like to watch videos with out leaving sense ui. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Press the albums button, then from camera shots press it again.
Browse to the folder your videos are in and select menu/set as favorite album.
Not the greatest, but that's how it works.
is there a certain folder your suppose to create?
all i have got under sd storage is 100media filled with pictures.
ive placed videos in here before but to no avail.
What format video files are you putting in there? Sense cannot detect all formats properly, I have found that MP4 files work well and there is a nice tool to re-encode them here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
Coreplayer is an option if you do not wish to re-encode, it works well on the Leo but doesnt play everything either (AC-3 not supported).
Im just working with x264 encoded mp4 files.
ive already got core to play the avi files.
no matter where i put them in the sd card, no luck
I am not an expert on this, and there is nothing more I can suggest really.
Hopefully someone else can assist you better, because I am about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, sorry.
Hello dude, may i make a suggestion?
Why don't you choose the album "All" as favorite?
Therefore, you'll get every photo and (compatible mp4) videos in the coverflow!
There, wherever you put the videos and photos, they shall appear in Coverflow.

Transformers.exe as movie browser?

Hello all,
I was curious about the possibility of editing the windows/Transformers.exe to allow you to place other movies into the sd/transformers folder and update the exe allowing you to utilize it as a movie browser/selector. I placed some other movies into the folder and renamed it "movies" however I do not know how to edit the .exe to recognize them or even if this is possible.
I would be curious if this is possible as it would allow you to place shortcut on program grid in Sense for faster/easier browsing of movies.
Does anyone know of any way to place link to a folder into grid. If this were possible the issue would be mute.
Thanks for any input regarding this!
Transformers doesn't have a separate movie browser. It uses the HTC vid app. Its just the way the movies were formatted that make them look so good.

Looks like you didn't really read the OP, I think he's asking if there's a way to add movies to the list that you see after launching Transformers.exe
To OP:
I think it may be possible depending on much of the assembly is hackable

My bad... Reading is fundamental! I'm going to assume there has to be a regedit that points to the transformers movies.
I know this is a lame answer, but why not just put your movies in a folder and fire up file explorer?

Sense style file explorer would look like that, that's why.
Okay, okay. Resco 2010 can be themed to look (and act) a heck of a lot like sense, and it supports thumbnail previews and all sorts of rich media browsing experiences. And it's just a file browser, too.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I will give that a try. I suppose a better solution would be the ability to link to folders thru Sense interface rather than having to open a file explorer type prog.
For now I suppose a folder in the start menu will have to do. Thanks again!
I will try encoding a video file to the same specs as the Transformer movies and put it in the folder. Although I have noticed and mp4 file will use that video player to view the file.

How can we find out the specs for the pre-loaded Transformers movies? And what do you recommend we use to convert movies we may have on our PC's?
connect you phone to your comp as a disk drive. then go to the transformer folder and right click on either file and click properties
Interesting Question
I could be completely reading into this wrong, but let me throw my two cents in.
My buddy and I were discussing how we loved watching the Transformer's movie, especially because you can use the seek function without leaving full-screen mode. If you use windows media player, when you tap the screen in fullscreen mode it immediately reverts back to windowed format.
Someone else had already mentioned above how the transformers.exe uses the HTC video player. However, if you open a program in File Explorer it uses Windows Media player. Basically, I wanted to be able to use the HTC video player for all my videos.
Thankfully this is possible to do, it is just annoying. Here is how you can watch videos using the HTC player:
1) Start Menu > Albums
2) Tap on "Albums" at the bottom left-hand corner (softkey)
3) Under Storage Card or My Device, tap on My Videos (or the name of the folder where you have your videos)
4) Tap on video
By doing this, you can utilize the awesome HTC video player!
I hope this helps with what you were trying to do.
Yeah, I tried the same thing as going through the file explorer isnt one click access (unless you always leave it in the Movies folder). Here's one alternative, but the GUI needs a little work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520604. It would be cool if someone picked up this project and improved it just a little. But, it works at least though.
that program would be awesome if it's polished up.
Yea, I was kind of wanting to encode the movies to avi to save space. I didnt know how to get the shortcuts to link up with the other movies instead, so I havent done it yet.
how bout a shortcut

i too tried in vail to add my movies to the transformers folder in file explorer, is there a way to add a short cut to my movies folder in the quicklinks?
maybe you guys can help me out...
i removed transformers from my sd card and onto my computer in an effort to conserve space.. but now i realize that i'm not gonna use all the space.. so i decided to put the movies back on sd card.. the only issue is that now my transformers shortcut.. doesn't work.. it gets to the page where i have to click either transformers 1 or transformers 2.. then when i select one of them.. it states that the media cannot be found..
so yea.. i was wondering if anyone can assist me in making that shortcut work again... i'm assuming that i have to direct a file using a registry editor.. or something... i think something along those lines.. i can't imagine this being really all that hard.. so please someone help me out and kinda guide me through it.. any suggestions?>

There has to be and I just haven't found it yet. When I just copy past a shortcut, it never works when I go to the start menu and click on it. Although, if I'm in Windows folder and click on it, it opens the Movies folder.
thanx

what kind of picture & video formats X10 support?

i've got my X10a for almost 2 days, i'm quite new to Android. after load some of my pictures to the SDCard, but couldn't see them within to phone. could someone let me know what format does the X10 support or do i need some other software to view & play the video on the phone?
Well, the x10 supports jpg atleast. But I think that it should support, png and BMP aswell. I never really use anything other than those file types.
as for video, does it support mp4. if you want to play any other formats, you should download yxplayer or whatever the name of the app was

edit:
all my pics suddenly show up. maybe my storage card was being used by some other app or something.
Well, what kind of format of contact pictures you use. Mine are a kind of blurry when people are calling me.
What is the best resolution so you can see them sharp?
Cheers,
Arnold

If the phone is mounted by a computer then your phone won't be able to read the SD card until you eject/disconnect from the PC.

Viewing Pictures on SD Card in dock

What program are you using to view pictures on the SD card from the dock? Gallery doesn't see them; Just pictures dosn't see them; I can browse to them via file tool, but then can only look at one picture at a time...can't slide screen to see next.
For now, I copied the folder from the SD Card to the internal memory.
I wish it works out of the box just like that.
But I also hit another problem. The video captured from my canon camera (AVI) cannot be played/recognized by the Gallery program.
So, I still need to open one by one using other player. With they all can be recognized and played within the gallery. Oh, well.
(One purpose of me buying the transformer is to view/play the pictures and videos captured by the canon camera during a trip).
Has anyone tried JustPicture ?
http://www.justpictures-android.com/
It says it supports viewing from SD Card. I will try it when I get home later.
Hopefully it also plays my AVI video.

Yes, as I noted in my original post, it does not work. Does work for the SD mounted in the TAB, but not the one mounted in the DOCK.
Quick Pix works just fine. You have to add the directory under settings.

Doing a search in the market on the Tab, I find no Quick Pix. I do find 4 different ones by different devs called Quick Pic. Also searched the market on my PC.
Can you be more specific?

Where do I put music & video files?

Sorry but a really noob question ..........
Where do I put music and video's so that the default app's find them?
I thought the SD card was 'external_SD' so that's where I put the music folders. But then, when I try to navigate to that on the phone, there's nothing in there. And also, when I open the music app' it doesn't show anything that I've added!!
So can you tell me where you put audio and video files please.
Sorry, I really show know this but it's not something I've done on any of my phones before!
Thanks in advance for you help.
SDCard : Internal Storage ,the 16Gb build in
External SD : The micro SD (T-Flash) you insert into phone
And inside Windows Explorer ,it should be two drives ,say ,Drive E and Drive F ,one is internal ,one is external
Hope this help
I think memory your looking at is the built in memory. I put some video files in the folder marked media and it found them ok. If you want to find the external memory you need to go to settings, wireless and network then usb utilities to connect tovpc. Thenn i just put all my music on there. Again it found them ok.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Right, I've done the music files. I've dumped them in the 'Music' folder in the above screenshot and it appears to have found them. The only annoying thing is that it's sorted each song alphabetically and not by track number!
Now I just need to work out where to put videos.
I also still can't see, from my screenshot of the folder structure above, where my SD card is. If it is that 'external_SD' then why aren't files showing when I explore it on the phone?
And does the Note not play .mov files? I've transferred some across but when trying to open them it states, "No applications can perform this action".
