First Posting, What is the best radio rom for BA - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

This is my first posting in xda-developers in Blueangel forum. But I had been reading threads in here for a long time, and I learn a lot about what I could do to my Blueangel anyway in our country, Philippines, Blueangel is under the brand of O2 Xda which is named as Xda IIs.
Im using my Blueangel with its following details:
Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro
ROM Version: 5.60.02 DVH
ROM Date: January 30 2008
Radio Version: 1.12.00
16 MB Pagepool
45 MB Main Storage
75 MB Memory
I already flash and upgraded my BA to WM6, and its quite stable cause I dont do often need to reset my device, the respond is good and no slowdown.
I learn it from here on how to upgrade my BA and I thank those people who devoted there life in helping us to make our devices to be more productive.
--------------------------------------------
I wanted to ask which is better radio version for BA 1.12 or 1.15?
Im using right now the radio version 1.12 and is quite stable and its giving me a good phone signal on my BA.
Would 1.15 be better?
Where can I get it?
How may I flash it in my BA?

I think 1.15 is better - louder and signal is at least as good as 1.12 if not better....
you can read wiki on more info wrt radio upgrading....

the answer to your question is quite inconsistent, some ppl said 1.13 is the loudest and most stable, other prefer 1.15 better.
I myself use 1.15 never had any problem with it.

it's depends on were u use your phone & your telephone company network settings. in my area it seams to me that 1.13 better. i tested 1.02, 1.12, 1.15.

PLEASE HELP with this XDA1

:? PLEASE HELP!!!
I've got an XDAI
ROM version: 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date: 12/22/03
Radio version: 6.1800
Protocol version: 324e4
Model no.: PW10A1
The ROM was cooked in Stefan's great ROM kitchens.
Whenever my XDA loses the GSM signal it turns itself on.
It will turn itself off again after 2 minutes-as it is set to do.
I don't know when this probelms started but it hasn't always done this.
It is maddening, especially when I am driving.
It also wears the battery down quickly.
Could it be my radio stack?
What is the best or most reccommended for XDA1?
i think it's the rom, its a little bug some 2003 t-mobile roms have
Try to use the AT&T ROM
it has very few bugs, but some problems in sound!
Revert back
I suggest you put the latest Pocket PC 2002 ROM back in.
I have been through the same with my own XDA 1. Tried every unofficial and coocked WM2003 ROM there is. Nothing but issues and an utter waste of my time. Now I am back at PPC2002 3.20.06, AFAIK the most recent PPC2002 version. Workes like a charm. Even -very demanding- TomTom3 runs smoothly on PPC2002 on my XDA 1.
WM2003 on an old XDA 1 does not bring any fascinating additional functionality. The XDA 1 does not become faster, does not use less memory for the OS so more for apps, no great extra apps, battery does not last longer with WM2003, graphics don't become speedier. No gains in there whatsoever, not for me anyway. Only issues unfortunately.
And all my non-MS apps well run on PPC2002. So why make the switch :?:
Thanks for all the replies.
You guys are great help.
Silicon
The Rom you mentioned 3.20.06 is an english language version of an asian ROM. Isn't it?
Will this work well in the USA (where I am)?
Also will it work well with T-Mobile?
Or should I use a ROM like 3.14.40?
Is there any need to change the radio stack?

magician radio 1.13 question

hi everyone. i have come across the magician radio 1.13 file in this forum and i was wondering...... if i could do this upgrade on my phone. i am using the xda mini and here are my current configurations:
rom version: 1.11.00 wwe
rom date: 03/14/05
radio version: 1.11.00
Yes you should be able to, look out for Rom 1.12 as well.
one more question before i decide to go on with the upgrade. im currently located in Indonesia. Are you sure i can do this radio upgrade? is this radio upgrade good for all magician, mini, mda compact and such or is this upgrade country or operator specific?
thanks for the reply. i just need to make sure before i do this upgrade because i have read some pretty terrifying upgrade stories in this forum.
This upgrade is not operator/country specific. But like all upgrades it is your choice to do it. (But worth it). This is how I got my radio 1.13, from the forum.
U Go here (xda/xda)

Okay guys, thanks for all of your help. i think you guys just gave me that little extra boost i needed to feel comfortable trying this upgrade. im downloading the file now and will install it soon.
once again, thank you very much!

Performance related to ROM version?

Hi all,
First post here after discovering this wonderful resource!
I am in the UK and have an O2 XDA Mini S, it was one of the first ones released I think.
I took off all of the O2 stuff as soon as I got it as it was extremely slow!
While it is ok most of the time, the performance can get pretty bad sometimes, seems like theres a memory leak somewhere.
Once rebooted its ok again for a few days.
The IPL and SPL version are both 1.05. I take it this is a very old (First?) version, and was wondering if upgrading it to a newer ROM would help the performance at all?
Other specs are as follows...
Rom Version - 1.5.4.2 WWE
ROM Date - 11/08/05
Radio version - 01.09.10
Protocol Version - 4.0.13.20
Ext ROM version - 1.5.4.102
Thanks...

Can't say I've used a 1.x rom version on my Wizard, but I have used a couple of official 2.1x roms, as well as Faria's WM5 rom and now I use Zoki's NBD WM6 rom. I can definitely say that I've seen performance improvements as I upgraded along this path. I've also found memory mgmt seem to be better on WM6 and I actually see memory reclaimed often, where this never happened before WM6.
Another thing to do is use batterystatus or omap to (slightly) overclock. I overclock to 260MHz using batterystatus.
Thanks for that Titus666,
Bit of a newbie with these things so excuse the question...
Does the ROM contain the OS then? eg. I have WM5 on mine. If I updated to another ROM would it update the OS to WM6 too?
Think I'll have to try a ROM update or 3 then, and try not to break it!

Yes, a ROM would contain the OS as well as the supporting apps and drivers like Bluetooth and Wifi etc. So there are many ROMs that are all WM5 but are all different, and similarly there are lots of ROMs that are WM6 but are all different as well.
So yes, if you want WM6, you will need to upgrade the rom. There are a number of sticky threads in the Wizard forums that spells out what needs to be done and what the traps are (and there are lots of traps), so read read read is my advice.

Help with DeviceData file

Hi guys,
I have upgraded succesfully my QTek 9090 BA to WM6 following the wiki, have some issues with WiFi and would like to upgrade my ROM...I guess...I'm new on this PDA world so still confused with terms.
I'm following the Wiki and got stuck here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...0.ROMx20.thatx20.willx20.workx20.forx20.mex3f.
My Device ID returns only:
P H 2 0 B W W E AT%CID? 5 . 6 0 . 0 0 1.12.00 % 4
So for what I understand:
MOdel PH20B
Lang: WWE (English)
Operator: AT%CID?
Rom Version: 5.60.00
Extended Rom version: 1.12.00
Radio Version: 4
Is this correct?
If so, I don't understand if this: BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe would be good for me...
Can you please help?
Thanks!
The Devicedata file was need in the old days (WM2003).
Now on WM6 (and WM5) the file does not matter or make much sence.
BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.exe
This is a 2003 rom with the rom vesion of 1.22 (making it old even for WM2003 as 1.4 was the last I can remember), the Radio is 1.602 (which is even older than your 1.12 (1.15 is the current one))
Best bet for you is the WM6 rom and up your radio to 1.15 (wiki will tell you how).
Hope that helps
Hi! and really thanks! It confuses me how 1.6 can be older than 1.15...?? Anyway, I updated to Radio rom 1.15, however reading more I found that it has nothing to do with WiFi...
Now, I seems to be understanding more and more about the Roms, extendend roms and radio roms with TypeI and II.
I have been looking at the FTP site and what I still need to understand is what Rom to use...how do you difference those codes? I'm using rar 20226...is this ok? Any newer ROM or more stable?
And what defines the WiFi driver? The ROM itself? I have the problem that my WiFi signal is very poor...
Thanks again
There are a few thiings that are wrong with the BA as it is end of life and if it was not for XDA-Devlopers it would be dead.
Wifi has its issues there is a work around and that has something to do with the way you start it. (to be honest I can't remember what you have to do but search will help)
Bluetooth is the other know issue, if you don't want to make friends then the best way to do this is post a "My Bluetooth does not work thread". That a low post count will get you flammed at big time.
The Type I and type II roms were based on the format of the roms and the tools we used about 3 years ago. Some smart guy worked out you could bypass this whole porcess (the checking of the country code) by using a flash program form some other HTC device.
So by the time WM5 came out then the "on id exe" solved that issue and we have been using it ever since.
The radio you talking about is 1.06, if you want to look at some of the roms we had found and posted on the FTP (unitll M$ got us to close it) then try this link.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Versions
Extra rom was a carrier based issue (wiki has a whole section on it) however WM5 and WM6 did not use the same system so the space was reused for the rom (is one of the steps in the upgrade process).
As for the best rom, this is up to you.
Xplode used be active and now its Sun_dream.
Both of these guys know there stuff and have my Full respect.
Have fun

Speed of BA w/WM2003?

By virtue of my 2 x XDAII's failing for whatever reasons (abuse, long-life, etc.), I had to shift to one of my XDAII's (BA) with base OS:
=======================================
WM2003 SE
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0)
Processor: Intel(R) PXA263
Memory: 125.77 MB
ROM v.: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM v: 1.40.923 WWE
Model No.: PH20B
=================================
I have found that this phone is WAY SLOWER than the XDAII - it's really incredibly slow! (And I had my XDAII with less RAM available!)
I have had problems connecting in Mumbai (India) with Vodafone (this happens with other units (EDGE modem/XDAII) too, but this is *extreme*!
I have to shut off the radio (put into flight mode) then back on, in order to connect to GPRS, or it simply will not connect!
I have tried flashing the ROM for the radio to 1.15, but I have to edit the file on the unit, else I get the error - it's really very time-consuming!
I'm afraid that all my time that I put into this unit will go to waste if I do not have a stable unit that I can rely on....
Any feedback on this?
Thanks!
Try the T-Mobile's rom or PDA2K's rom in Blue Angel Upgrading section.
The O2 rom bugs me too much.
Also install O2 Asia upgrade (I guess u r running a non asian one thats why BA isnt showing compatibility with ur network. Try upgrading to WM5/6 and see if u have luck on GSM/GPRS since majority of asian networks phail with BA WM5/6/6.1/6.5

Yes, it's the O2 ROM - not sure if this one was the one I bought in SIN or in the UK...any ideas, or way to tell?
Both were O2 branded....

Which is the best upgrade (simplest) to do, stable, with almost no bugs, with a similar to original config/options?
TIA!
well first of all if you want less bugs do not install the OEM crapware (the extrom software) you may even resize the extrom partition to 128 k to use the space as storage
http://alevri.atspace.com/ - updated Shipped roms list and mirrors which i will keep online
My advice is to flash the latest t-mobile 1.42 rom delete radio and extrom update files and flash rom only

Wow - thanks for the tips - wonderful to have the gurus of the BA helping us!
So, how does one delete the radio files?
I unzipped and extracted, then ran the .exe file, which started the RUU update.

Why can't you? Keep in mind that you can only do this only in 2003. So, from what I have read in your other posts you are either in 6.1 or in 6.5 (going back to 6.1). You have to use the Repart_doc and the ExtRom Unlocker tools in order to do so.
Aside from everything, I have been using xplode's version of 6.5 and I am pretty happy with it (both stability and usability)-wise.
If you are absolutely disgusted by it, you should try sun_dream's 20578. Best 6.1 that I have had...
Hope this helps.
@egzthunder1: did back to original rom wm2003 02XDAIIs and other cooked rom in wm2003, but it failed due to physical logic reason when im runnig repart_doc.exe. but when im expand my SX66 its work!! weird thing.

That is the weirdest thing... it should work fine since it is the same phone...
