windows mobile 6 sip 3g no sound - Networking

Hi, i have been trying to set up voip (internet calling) on windows mobile 6 using vpn and 3g. I can connect to asterisk server, i can make a call, i can receive a call, i hear the other end, but the sound from my device isn't transfered (traffic dump shows that no rtp packets are being transmitted). If wlan connection is used instead of 3g - everything works fine. I believe my sip settings are correct ant operator is not blocking my packets (all sip/rtp packets go through vpn tunnel). Do you have any suggestions why isn't my device sending (or sending somewhere to the wrong place) rtp packets when using 3g? I have tried this with sip over 3g enabled and disabled. Thanks in advance.

RTP - with windows mobile 6.
Hi,
Could you please share with me how do you implement RTP and voice through windows mobile 6?
which sip stack are you using?
Thanks
Amos

VPN on Windows mobile 5

Hi,
I am hoping someone out there can help me. I currently have a SPV M600 (Prophet) and I am trying to use the phone to receive my emails.
I VPN in to our network over GPRS which appears to connect fine as I checked the ISA server which shows the connection. However, there is no data transfer. It appears that the VPN is not using the IP address of the network that should be assigned to it, which will not allow it to connect to anything on my network.
Other windows mobile OS work, just seems to be Windows Mobile 5.
Any ideas?

Have you tried to add exceptions in network/advanced tab in connection applet ?
You should try to add these two exceptions: "http://*/*" and "*/*"
Ciao, Francesco
I dont know where you are but here in France, Orange and SFR block VPN traffic, specifically "GRE 43".
It could be much the same problem.

Are you using the built in VPN within WM 5, I know for myself I have to use a more complex VPN client to access my work network. I am currently testing Bluefiresecurity's client, it appears to work well but is a bit expensive at $79. Antha VPN also produce a client but I had problems switching between Wifi and GPRS.
I hope this helps. I am on O2 UK and can access my work network using bluefire.

TyTn and Skype

Hi,
I'm having issues getting Skype to connect using the WiFi on my TyTn. The wireless connects to my work network and a proxy server is required for web access. I think I have these setting configured correctly because Internet Explorer connects to external web pages. Whenever I try to connect using Skype it throws up an error message stating it can't connect to the Internet, Skype works fine over the 3G. Has anyone managed to get skype working over WiFi on the TyTn and if so what settings did you use.
I use skype over wifi no problems. Check your skype settings to make sure that wifi use is selected.
I, however, do not have a proxy set up on my wireless network so you may need to tweak skype's settings to get it to run correctly.
Using the new BETA version but old one worked just as good.
Sorry if it's of no help to you.
S.K.
Hie there, I was wondering if you could email me your 3 uk settings especially the phone band settings. I used to be able to connect to skype and msn but ever since I temperd with the settings it refuses to connect. It connects onto the 3g network though but some how not msn or skype. They both also connect using wifi. Help please!!!

I have a 3 pay as you go sims, could you please send me the 3 settings.
I dunno if will work with pay and go, but I'm on 3 contract and the setting the access name to 3internet allows me to connect to Skype. The standard Skype program won't allow you to use skype on p2g unless you have the internet add on as it would allow voip calls.

Forcing an applicaiton to use one specific internet connection?

Hello! I am using a Kaiser running official O2 WM6.1, but I think this is a general WM6.1 question and I hope this is the right section to post this!
How can I force a particular application to always use a specific internet connection even when multiple internet connections are available?
I have a feeling that when both GPRS/3G and WiFi are enabled, WiFi is always preferred - i.e. all applications internet activities would be transmitted over the wifi. Is there any documentation to verify this?
However, in my situation, I have to use the iskoot client to connect to 3 UK network's iskoot server. I think that server only accept communication when it is from its own network. My 3G connection is therefore always on. However, that means when I connect my phone to PC (active sync enabled) or switch on wifi, my iskoot client cannot communicate with the 3 (UK) iskoot server and hence I cannot make skype call or use skype chat, etc.
My general question is are there any setting/tweak/hack that I can use to enforce a program or change their order of preference for which internet connection to use?
In my specific case, I want almost all other programs to use wifi and active sync when available, but only iskoot to always use 3G connection.
Is it possible?
Thanks!

Incoming connections to a mobile IP connection? Possible?

I'm attempting to use a Windows Mobile 6.1 device (HTC Diamond) for a temporary internet connection for my mail server while my broadband is down (BT cancelled my line in error and do not seem to be in any hurry to restore the service!). Initially I'm using the built-in ICS functionality..
While outgoing connections are fine I do not seem to be able to make in incoming connection. At first I thought this was due to ICS not port mapping incoming connections downstream (in a port forwarding DMZ manor) so I moved to the seemingly very good WMWiFiRouter tool and which is much more configurable in such ways, however still no joy. Further investigation using the useful website whatismyipaddress.com suggests that my connection is actually not a true connection but instead proxy'd (assumingly by Vodafone). Is this correct? If so, assumingly it is therefore impossible to make direct incoming IP connections (TCP or UDP) to devices on a mobile operators network (in my case Vodafone)?
All comments welcome!
Thanks, Simon
To reply / follow-up to my own post..
It seems this is due to a problem with Vodafone providing data connections with a private NAT’d IP address that is routed through their proxies for traffic optimization etc, and not the required (publically addressable) public IP address for incoming connections.
Please see my separate post on this wider issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478741
had a problem kinda like it trying to make a socket connection from 2 3 gprs devices
did'nt work unless both had static ip's which cost extre
but it worked ok if just one of them were not a 3 grps device
like a normal pc or a gprs device from another operator

Do Vodafone block VoIP providers?

I have a Kaiser on a Vodafone contract. I also have the Native WM6 VoIP client integrated into my ROM (5.2.19212). I have tested this over my home WiFi with BT Broadband Voice (included as part of my home broadband package) and it works OK (audio from rear speaker but no solution for this yet?). I have also tested it from other WiFi areas and it also works.
What doesn't work is VoIP over HSDPA/3G/GPRS via Vodafone. The today screen plugin says 'No service'. I have verified with Schaps VoIP configuration tool that VoIP over 3G is enabled so I was wondering if Vodafone block access to VoIP providers via HSDPA/3G/GPRS? Or do BT block access to their VoIP service from other providers (this seems less likely as I have used it via a different (non-BT) WiFi service.
