for those too scared to flash to 6.1 (or have other reasons not to), here is a very intriguing method of getting the palm threaded sms to work quite well, not covering up the input area.
may work for wm5, dont use it myself.
good luck.

Hello,
I have seen two threaded SMS CABS for WM6.0 posted. However, after further investigation I realized that they are just modified Treo CAB (One by Cody and one by shogunmark).
So, is threaded SMS possible or will the flash to WM6.1 be necessary?
I've been using eXtreme text from www.birdsoft.com works great, cost 15 some bucks if i remember right
i am using pocketcm and it does threaded texting. i am not too bright with any of this stuff but i am fairly certain thats what gave me the threaded txt. i am using it on xv6800 sometimes it acts up, where i need to hold/hit send a few times other than that no problems...except of course it still notifies you of unread text messages and you have to read it in normal window to remove notify
hope that helped...
The one by Cody works fine on the xv6800. There is a slight font issue depending on if you have they keyboard open when you start it, but other than that it works fine.
There are also a few other threaded SMS apps out there to try.
I neglected to state that I was referring to the threaded SMS client (Arcsoft MMS Composer) available in WM6.1. I was under the impression that it could be created in to a CAB and installed on a WM6.0 phone.
Hi,
I need your help to find out a software that I can use my HTC Touch Cruise to send and receive Unicode SMS messages via mobile phone.
I searched over and didn't find out a software that works with WM6. Can you help me to find one?
Thanks
Is it that hard to get?!
It looks like I am asking soming not easy to get! I did almost two weeks search for workable software. I only found one software which is called Instant SMS Sender. I tried it and it works. But it doesn't have must features like Indovisi SMS.
I hope someone can come up with better one. Lets look who is the Hero
Thanks
I found a very simple freeware software which is called zSMS v0.6. I tested and it works. It doesn't allow me to type unicode SMS. Did any body test to send unicode SMS using zSMS software?
Thanks
Try using Simple SMS V5.0 (For WM5 & WM6), and you may find your luck, depending on what type of handphone you are using.
Well, I still prefer Indovisi SMS but I am having the same problem with you.
Let me know if you find any better software too..

as far as i am aware the 6.1 threaded text can not be run on 6.0.
use extreme text.
on Win Mobile 5 or 6 to get threaded SMS is
TxtMan 2.0 (Need to have .Net Framework ) or PocketCM
yes problem is I have tried all of them and none of those work right on my device.
what phone are u using?
Is there any way to get threaded SMS working on WM 6.0 without having to run a separate application? I would like to be able to replace the built in sms client with something capable of threaded sms, rather then having to deal with the pain of another application.

No that's not possible... ..you say you're using a Smartphone? What phone are you using? previous apps are ment for PPC or Windows Mobile Professional only.
well you have a smartphone, not the same as windows mobile, so regardless you don't have the proper device..
and threaded sms is?

Looks like IM messages...you see a thread type message with what has been said with that particular person before.
It IS possible. The Threaded SMS was ripped from Palm and replaces the ordinary SMS, with a few registry edits, it works amazing.
I disagree.. ..the Palm threaded SMS is ment for Windows Mobile Professional. Not for Windows Mobile Standard.
The TS uses a Smartphone (WM Standard), not a PocketPC (WM Pro.)
is there any way to make extreme text recognize MMS?
I was using extreme text before I had to HR and it recognized mms for me.
I have a Daxian x999 running windows mobile 6 pro. I just updated my wifes dash to 6.1 and I would really like to have a threaded SMS option that was seamless. Everything I have tried is too different and does not seem native enough. so I understand...
I'm not all too fond of the default threaded SMS application that the TP2 comes with and I absolutely adored the 750v threaded SMS application that I used on my Wing. So I figured... both are WM6 devices, why not give it a shot? Lo and behold, it works... but MMS doesn't. I keep getting an "Out of Memory" error on the TP2 which freaks me out because I never got it on the Wing... and MMS worked flawlessly on that dated piece of hardware. Not being able to find a solution as to why, I did some searching and was able to get my hands on the upgraded version of the 800w threaded SMS application from PPC Geeks and MMS works slightly better on that. By slightly, I mean it works on every MMS image unless you soft reset and all the MMS images you receive are super tiny (172x128 or something like that). After a soft reset, all MMS images come up as "Media Deleted."
I used the Sprint version of the 750v application, but the GSM version of the 800w application and right now I'm at my wits end. I must have done 20+ hard resets just trying to get this to work to my liking... all to no avail. I know this message is all over the place, so hopefully I can break a few things down:
1.) Why do I get the "out of memory" error on the 750v application?
2.) Why does MMS stop working after a soft reset on the 800w?
3.) Why do images come in so tiny on the 800w? And how can I increase them?
Any answers are greatly appreciated. And no... this application is not warez because it is hosted on PPC Geeks AND TreoCentral... and both forums are very "anti-warez."
Hi
I generally use Microsoft Myphone and Sprite Backup and sometimes PIM Backup for backups. I have had UK Vodafone HTC windows mobile phones for some years.
I have been trying to restore data from the original Touch Pro to the HD2 and Touch Pro 2. After restoring I had some problems with the Call History on the Touch Pro 2. This was solved after I used Myphone instead of Sprite Backup for the backup and restore.
There seems to be much worse problems transferring data to the HD2:
1. I have quite a large archive of SMS messages on the Vodafone Touch Pro. About 2.5K in total. I have tried restoring the messages to the HD2 using Sprite and Myphone. At the bottom of HTC Sense threaded message there is an area for composing a new message. In the compose message area you see text from an old message. Before you can send a message you have to delete the text in the compose area. I have installed the latest SMS update. Did not help with this particular issue. I think the SMS update helped with some of the other SMS issues. These messages seem to have restored fine on the Touch Pro 2.
2. A more minor problem is that there are some strange characters in the notes sections in the restored contacts on the HD2. Looking at the same contacts on the Myphone site there appears to be no problems with these contacts. Again, the contacts seem to have restored fine on the HD2. Overall, even though it is very slow it seems to be better to restore using Myphone rather than Sprite.
I have tried hard reset on the HD2 a number of times. I think I have all the latest updates that are relevant. I have even had a replacement phone. I still have this strange SMS problem. I suspect that the problem is due to HTC Sense compatibility issues. The HTC Touch Pro WM6.1 has HTC TouchFLO 3D.
BTW, I have tried PIM Backup as well. However, it does not appear to work properly on the Vodafone Touch Pro for some reason.
Does anybody have any ideas on this? I have quite a bit of experience of Windows Mobile phones. I have also had the Vodafone version of the the HTC Universal and Tytn II.
All the best.

see this thread by yours truly

executive summary: if you are coming from another WM phone to the HD2 and you have a ton of messages (like myself) and would like to restore them and continue building your repository of messages on a STOCK HD2, then you'll run into issues as you described.
moreover, the HTC messaging client shipped with STOCK HD2s is rubbish when it comes to handling more than a few sms messages stored per contact.
the regular windows mobile sms client (that you and i are used to from our kaisers and pre-HD2 devices) is great! its so good that the top chefs (such as NRGZ of the "energy" ROM series) has completely done away with the HTC messaging client. if you read my thread, you will also notice that restoring to the HD2 with the HTC messaging client has repercussions and adverse impacts on your ability to take your messages repository to OTHER WM phones if you choose to do so later on.
SMS Problems with HD2
Hi
Thanks for your response. I have already seen your thread on this issue which was very useful.
It seems that the only solution is to use WM6.5 for SMS instead of HTC Sense on the HD2. I will use the Touch Pro 2 for work. The HD2 will be used when I need a phone with a bigger screen, etc. The Touch Pro 2 processor is slower. However it has a keyboard and is overall better for business use. A good alternative to a keyboard does not exist!
Vodafone has been quite helpful in providing replacement phones. However neither Vodafone nor HTC seem to want to admit that there is a problem with the HD2.
Thanks.

cool! if your primary phone is going to remain the TP2, then i strongly suggest playing around with a custom ROM on your HD2 (i recommend NRGZ's energy ROM).
this way, you will have a speedy and clean HD2 with properly integrated NATIVE messaging client and all of its benefits. play around with it and maybe you'll find you can shift to the HD2 for regular/business use. i came from a tytn2 (kaiser) after 2 years of *****in' use and it took me a while to get used to the lack of a hardware keyboard on the HD2. that said, i am now completely accustomed to the HD2's onscreen keyboard and i can type nearly as fast and nearly as accurately on it now as i could on the kaiser's hardware keyboard. still, a hardware keyboard is a hardware keyboard and i can't argue with that!
long story short, if messaging and lack of hardware keyboard is all that stands in your way of 100% HD2 use, then a custom ROM should kill the messaging issue completely and some practice with the on screen keyboard will alleviate the keyboard issues. good luck!
