Phone "dead" after failed flash? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Okay I just bought this Wizard used. It had a dead battery when I got it so I charged it completely before I started messing with it. I was having a lot of problems upgrading it. First the loader wouldn't work at all but I started using the noID version and got it to upgrade to 99% but it kept giving a communication error at that point. From what I've read so far I guess it's probably because this is a G4 Wizard and it has the CID-Lock that's preventing it from taking these roms. Anyway, I put wizard_love on it and it did boot up which made me pretty happy but then I started a flash of XDA WM6 v5 on it and went to sleep while it was upgrading. I guess it again failed at 99% but then when I woke up the phone was completely unresponsive. I tried removing the battery and reinserting, including holding the camera button while pressing the power button. No response. I reinstalled Activesync on my laptop and then the VERY first time I plugged the phone in, it went to the bootloader screen and I was a little bit relieved but then just a second later it went black again before I had a chance to begin the wizard_love flash again. What happened? Did the battery die and now it doesn't want to charge? What's the fix for this? I feel like it's not completely bricked since I did see the bootloader screen for a second but I can't figure it out for the life of me. I searched and read the whole flashing thread. Can someone point me in the right direction? There's SO much about this device here. Not like my old Wallaby. Oh, also this Wizard is a Cingular 8125 if that matters.

Ugggghh... I think I have some strange USB cable action going on.... I have one USB cable that I originally used to charge the phone but it wouldn't sync correctly... Just to be having something to do I tried pugging that cable back into the phone and it did go into the bootloader screen with THAT cable but no USB connection indicator. I unplugged that cable and plugged the cable I'd used to sync it in and did get the USB indicator on the bootloader screen so I started flashing wizard_love and it got about half way through and went black again. Now I'm pretty positive that this IS a battery issue being exacerbated by my apparently shoddy USB cables. I'm going to leave the cable that it charged off of plugged in for a couple hours and then try to flash with the other cable again. The phone should be able to take a charge while sitting at the bootloader screen right?

NOPES ! battery cannot be charged via usb cable in bootloaders, charging a battery via usb cable is only possible if you gave a working phone and it loads up into working OS.So to get it charged you need to have a 'wall charger' capable of an charge output of 1.00 amps, only then it'll get fully charged and work or get it charged through a friends phone,ok

Actually it did charge while in bootloader mode but only with one out of many USB cables I have. It was a thick clear cable with a metal weave visible inside. Interestingly, this same cable won't let the phone sync. Signs and wonders.
I recovered it with wizard_love but I want to put a WM6 rom on it. I'm trying to load xm6r5 right now but it still will only get to 99% and then craps out. Is this because it's a G4 and has this CID lock thing going on? I installed the lokiwiz utility that supposedly removes the CID lock but it still failed at 99% loading xm6r5. What is currently the best method for loading these type of flashes onto G4 Wizards? I've read so many 50 page threads that I'm getting a headache and it's hard to figure out which one is the most reliable/current.

Once again "dead"
Okay now I tried to downgrade to Button's ROM CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe in order to get the lokiwiz program to unlock the cid but after it installed, when it started it stayed on Button's splash screen with the beer for like five minutes so I tried to hard boot it and now it once again won't come on, even with the silver usb cable. Whats up with that?

Man I have this terrible fear that even though I read about this rom in threads about how to remove CID locks from G4 phones that I've bricked it by putting something on it that has the G4 killing data in it. Can someone tell me what happened?

Alright... I guess that rom WAS intended only for G3 phones and I made a big mistake. It's time to start shopping for a replacement motherboard I guess. I think I'll try to get a G3 one this time.

What ? !!! Did I Hear Yet Another G4 "bricked"
OMG !
This has been at least more than 1000 times posted...WARNED...SCREAMED...YELLED...BEGGED..PLz PLZ never flash a Rom with IPL/SPL in it to a G4 device, it'll "BRICK" it
HURRAH ! man congratulations ! you have a shiny expensive paper weight decorating your table

hi, please! need help... after I've flash the Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2 on my G3 device the rom is very slowly and my PC doesn't recognized my wizard when it connected with the USB cable.
any solution how can I change this rom?
many thanks
moran

maybe i need a driver?

Wrong version of ActiveSync?

No, i was try with 3 different PC...

I'm not talking about the PC version, I'm talking about the version of ACTIVESYNC. You should be using either 4.1 or 4.5. Make sure you are. Let us know...

XDA 2 Say Always Charging

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8348&highlight=always+charging
I have a same problem before. But im update my device rom to 1.72.00 (Imate Rom) (Before my device have a 1.72.00 T-Mobile Rom) that problem is gone until my charge going %15. After that not blinkin Orange light is coming (thats normal for charge is about 10-15% but) also Setting > Power say charging and My XDA think its charging. Im not plug in my device anywhere (Cradle, Power Charge, USB Sync) but its always thing charging and charge is faster dropping to zero.
I dont understand anythig about that. After that i plug in my USB sync in my notebook and recharge it. After my battery full (100%) im unplug the sync cable from my device and nothing change. Its still say charging
After this i decided (i dont know why i think about that. please dont ask ) i plug in USB sync cable and plug out on my PC (Cable still plugged in on my XDA 2) and device gone normal. And unplug sync cable from my device. Orange light is gone and Settings > Power say Battery Mode.
Is there anythig wrong that. I think this is totaly software error bu i dont know.
Thank you for your advice.
My case was different. No matter what I did, the device ALWAYS thought it was in charging mode. I sent it to the repair centre twice and the device gone back to the problem again after a while. They said the connector pin has been in short circuit and so it thought it was charging. They also accused me of damaging it. I asked them why it would be so when I use it normally, the staff said 'Machine is like that, nobody can gurantee'. I was angry and sent several rude mails to O2. Upon some negotiation, they changed a completely brand new model to me and the problem did not happen anymore. I have used this new one for several months in exactly the same way I did with the old one and nothing untoward happen. That proved the old one was not damaged by me!
Sorry for being long-winded and yet could not solve your problem.
Anyone can help?
My device still have a that problem.
Im looking lights now and its some time say charging and some times not.
Please help
Thank you
always charging
i still have same problem :!:
anyone? help?
omg, this is exactly what my problem is. My XDAII always thinks that it is charging even though it is not plugged to the charger nor the usb sync cradle. And the amber LED light is steadily lighted like when you are charging, battery life of the XDA has dramatically gone down, it wont last me 3 hours or so and yet it is still on standby mode. I had reflashed it with the latest ROm available, 2.06WWE i think, and still after that, after the cold reboot, the problem was still there. Anyone has a better solution to that? Im planning on returning my unit for servicing if the problem cant be solved.
i have same problem , help me now
This will be less likely to happen when using usb cable rather than cradle. If you get a magifying glass you may be able to see the short on the pins and possibly nudge it back into position with a very thin sewing needle or similar.
up
i have exactly this problem too (
I´ve the same problem since yesterday with my T-Mobile MDA², it´s Rom Version: 1.72.01GER (6 months in use without problems), Rom Date 03/16/04, Radio 1.17.00, Protocol 1337.28, ExtRom 1.72.170
The yellow light is always on and the batterie runs very fast out of energy (1-2 hours) and it´s always says charging and think it´s connected to AC power...
any fix to this problem?
or what happen now to those who have this problem?
I have this problems too!!! How to fix it?

8125 Dead

I have a 8125 and I was able to unlock it fine. After unlocking it I upgraded to the underground crossbow edition rom - which the 8125 rebooted and was running. I tried out a couple things and everything seemed to be running/working fine. It was getting late so I put it down and went to bed. This morning when I got up the phone was off so I went to turn it on and nothing happened. I figured it just ran out of battery power plugged in the charger and guess what no red light on. I have tried everything under the sun but I cant get it to charge or startup. Anyone have any ideas? It was working fine.
i know u said u've tried everything and i don't mean to sound like i'm takin the buscuit, but leave it on charge for n hour, then try bootloader. taking the battery out completely for a while could work.
i had so many problems with crossbow! think this was one of them.
Unplugged
Well so far I left the charger plugged into the phone with the battery in it for over an hour now - with no luck. The red charging light doesn't even come on. Did you have that problem? I also left the battery out and plugged in - still nothing. Tried taking the battery out and then putting it back in while plugged in - no go.
I have not tried the "bootloader" - but the phone will not turn on at all or respond in anyway. Its in a powered down state (or so it seems) - I dont think bootloader will work?? But I dont know anything about bootloader - is it on the ftp site and how do I use it?
Any chance the battery could have been completely discharged?..just a thought. I think i read that completely flat batteries wont charge up via usb. Disregard if thats a silly suggestion, just thought id offer my two cents.
try getting a new battery and see if it boots up...it can be your battery.and you are trying to charge with an AC adapter right?
Wall Charger
I am charing it via the wall charger (not usb) and I am going to try to get another battery. Just weird that I never had a battery problem until I install the wm6??!! Unless the damn thing drained my battery dry and somehow damaged the battery. I called Cingular and they are sending me another unit as its still in warranty. So we'll see when I get it - I will try the new battery. Strange. Very Strange - because everything was working last night.
Strange
Well after leaving the battery out all afternoon I took a go at the phone again, put in the battery then turned it on. It actually started booting up - showing the WM6 bootscreen. After about a minute it shut down like it was out of power. Strange. I know the phone is not bricked because if it was it wouldn't have just done what it did. Anyone have any suggestions how to fix it?
Could be a bad battery. You need to test out with some one else battery

New Battery
Well I finally got the new battery I ordered today. When I put it into my phone it will boot into wm6 fine but will not sync with activesync 4.0 or charge via USB or plugged into the wall. I uninstalled activesync, rebooted my computer and installed Activesync 4.5 - but still no luck with the phone via usb syncing with my pc. Also when the phone in plugged into the wall via the wall charger it does not charge. I am beginning to think the port on the bottom somehow was disabled from the rom update, although I dont see any posts with people having that problem. I guess my next option is trying to reflash it to stock rom via a sd card since it wont connect via USB - however I can not find the information step by step how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Try going to the bootloader screen: Turn off your phone and then hold the camera button while you turn it on. When you are at the Rainbow screen (thats the bootloader) plug in your USB cord. You should see in the bottom left (above the left soft key) where it says USB. If it doesn't then I'd say your USB port is broken (I'm not aware of any ROM being able to disable that).
As for flashing from the SD card, I believe thats documented in the Wiki...

WIZ don`t power up

I though my battery died so I bought new one, but it doesn`t respond also.
On friday there was problem with display and device automaticaly restarted
I opened it and something like this is not connected anywhere. I can`t see anything in service manual like that. Do you know what is it and where it suppose to be connected ?
That's a holder for the stylus.
There's a small screw that goes through it when it's in place and it holds the stylus from falling. It's very easy to place it back!

Ok, thanks, so it`s not for battery so my wizard is dead definitely
It may not be your battery!
I had my wizard die in much the same manner as your's. I thought it was a gonner until I ran across a site somewhere with a whole group of people with the same problem with their wizard. I'm only guessing, but I think you let your battery run very low and the device shut down, which is alright, until you consider that it cannot charge without the operating system (Windows)
up and running! I had to cut the mini end of a usb to mini usb cable, strip the black and red wires and hold the black to the negative pole of the battery and the red to the positive pole while it was plugged into the usb port on the desktop computer for about 20-30 seconds. Then replaced the battery in the phone, booted windows and recharged with the home charger. It worked great, but now I carry a fully charged battery with me, in case it happens again and I,m out somewhere where I can't jump start the battery with the cable trick. I think this method is also mentioned somwhere on this site. Good luck and let me know if it works.......
Oh. I also though it is the problem with charging, but the night before my battery was fully loaded and in the morning the phone died without possibility to boot up. two days later I`ve buy the new battery and put into the Wiz...nothing.
I asked salesmen if it`s possible that the new battery is charged under possibility of the phone, but he said it`s definitely not. So I suspect that something happened to the hardware.
I`ve tried connecting USB directly to the battery also, before I buing new one, but it also didn`t worked for me.
Before it completely died there was several hangups on today screen and once even on the booting splash screen, with the strange situation where the radio ROM was not displayed at all :/ ??
After this several reboot sesions it has not started again.
I didn't catch the whole story from the beginning, but did you drop the Wiz? I dropped mine, and I am going through the same exact thing with the Radio not showing up. Mine only gets to the first splash screen, and enters an endless reboot loop.
If we can find a solution to this problem, I'd DEFINITELY love it. Until then, I'll still be sad.

Hi there,
As you can see I'm very new to this forum but I too have just come across this problem this morning.
My battery was fully charged yesterday and I had my alarm set to wake me up this morning but it did not go off. I checked and it was all set ok so I did a soft reboot. It hasn't come on since. A took out the battery for a while and it managed to boot up to the WM6 screen but then switched off.
Now it seems the device doesnt even switch on
IPL/SPL 2.22.002 (I think from memory)
OS 6.0xxx
Running the TNT rom not sure what version (was ebayed)
Have you plugged it in through the wall, and not the PC? Somehow mine came back to life this morning, all I did was plug it into the wall AC power WITHOUT a SIM card, and it booted like normal first try.

Htc x7500 problem

Hi, I have HTC X7500 with a very serious problem. It has SPL 1.20 Olipro. The thing is that it can't get to windows mobile. When i plug it in the USB the trackball gets red and if I take the battery out and the in in turns yellow and the device gets into 3-coloured mode. It's not detected also by the computer. What can I do? Is there anyway to get everything back to normal, to restore original ROM ot firmware, wahtever it's called? Thanks!
?dead battery?

Hi Sharky.
I would hazard a guess and say the battery is stuffed.
The battery is renowned for having problems getting good contact so the first thing I would do is leave it off and plug it into the wall charger then fiddle with the battery to make sure it is making contact and charging.
If it gets to geen light then try booting.
If not ,it is then possible to flash from SD card.
Let me know how you go.
If the battery is out, I can't do anything, the LED is always RED. If the battery is in, the LED is still RED, but sometimes I can get into bootloader (3-coloured screen). What's the thing with the flashing from SD card?

I just checked on my old athena.
When it is turned off and plugged in the light is orange untill it is fully charged and turns green.
If the battery has a poor connection it stays red.
I have an old battery that doesn't work and the light stays red.
So I would say you have a poor connection to the battery or the battery is dead.
I would not attempt to flash anything till you have a functioning battery.
Yeah, thanks, I've finally managed to reinstall ROM and the light when the battery is in is now orange. But I have another problem: when I plug in the USB cable the device gets gets very slow and freezes sometimes. Also the WiFi isn't working, but the bluetooth does so I think it's a software, not hardware, problem. Can you give me link to the original athena (x7500 advantage) ROM so that I can try with it. And one last thing: when I plug it in the computer via USB, Windows 7 doesn't seem to recognize the device, the Windows Mobile Device Center can't connect to the device. I appreciate your help till now and I hope you'll continue helping me to solve my problems. Cheers!
the corrupt wifi is a known issue wiith upgrade problems
this is the fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2154726&postcount=33
have a look through the wiki for various files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Athena
a lot of the links don't work anymore
also have a look at the stickies in the upgrading section and doing a search using variations on your question usually finds an answer
ps
this phone was originally released when xp was the main OS so try finding an old laptop that uses this if you want to upgrade to AP4 to get SPL 3.5.
Have a read of the beginners guide as well
cheers
I've tried that fix but it doesn't help. It's obviously hardware, so I'm taking it to the service. Thanks anyway!

[Q] No sign of life at all

I have HD2, had an android installed, everything was working perfectly until I've bought a cheap chinese recharger, at first android started to lag, tried to restart the phone and it cound't get past HTC logo after MALGR screen, I couldn't even get into multicolor screen to do a hard reset, simply VOL DOWN and POWER buttons didn't do nothing(in MALGR vol DOWN AND UP were working perfectly) and now it doesn't even boot at all...have no sign of life.
Does it mean my phone is bricked or maybe there is a chance it's a battery.
I'd start all over, HardSPL, rooting, reflashing, EVERYTHING (Maybe Task29? Never tried it before but its supposed to help) - I'm not a dev myself, but thats the first thing i would try to do - sorry I cant tell you what exactly is going wrong - maybe start by charging via USB afterwards
Could be a duff charger. Do you have a usb lead? You could try charging of the PC to see if you can get some line in it!
is the charger just a mains battery charger or usb ?,
only ask as i had to get just a battery charger from ebay as my usb on my phone has broke so i couldnt charge it via usb lead, so i bought 2 mains battery chargers and 2 extra batterys ,
it sounds like its just a dead battery, buy a new one from ebay as they are cheap enough, and hopefully that should work .
First thanxx for responding, guys!
I was "bending" and "torturing" the phone and the battery for a whole day and a half night, and realized that all I have is a bad luck - literally.
But at least it's not bricked, but it's pretty normal, because I did nothing to trigger that.
It's definitely a battery that was completely dead, so I just cut some old charger and charged it with my fingers holding wires against that little metal rectangles..
but that wasn't the end of my troubles..
now the pc just doesn't recognize the phone most of the times in the HSPL bootloader(sometimes it does, but still it won't flash or do anything), I have this active sync installed..
later I'll try at my friends place..
It's almost two years I have my HD2, so probably its life sources are just finished, but I won't give up until I'll try everything..
I'll let you know the results
Finally after a lot of efforts it's reanimated!
Gotta drink some bourbon for that! Cheers everyone!
