My online banking website wont let me on with pie, but I used to access it from all my old cells. I believe wap is the correct term, but I am not sure. Anyone know how to access the same network as non wm devices? not the actual internet?
Hi I had the same problem but i just used operamini instead

OK so I am new here, but I am not new to mobile devices at all. In fact I was a Mobility Admin in different forums. So please don't get mad at me for posting here. I have some questions. PLEASE don't play the FLAME the noob game. I swear that I searched far and Wide for my answers but have failed to find them.
So my question: is there anyway to tweak the T-Mobile T-zones Internet?
I can:
Connect to the internet
Download Files
Stream Music (orb)
Stream Video (badly[orb])
Use Google Maps
I can't:
Connect To IM servers, I have tried all of the programs. OZ for T-Mo is the only one that works, but it's horrible.
No YouTube, I can live without this but I hope to get it working.
MIDP can't connect.
Basicly nothing, that doesn't connect from, IE works.
----------------------------------------------------
I have played with the Proxy settings and nothing. I know that with my Treo 650 I could connect through VeriChat, but I can't connect on WM6.
Is there a program out there that can help me fix this?
Again I'm sorry if this is a repost, or an overkill of something, but I want to get this stuff working.
Thanks

I do not have an obvious solution but have also seen plenty of similar comments here from others - not just with T-Mobile either. I am using T-Mobile in the UK and have none of your problems.
I obviously had the original T-Mobile Vario II build (WM5) but now have the Black MAJIK build with WM6 and all has been fine with both. Some people directly accuse T-Mobile of blocking their IM, but I have no issue with it - albeit I use it rarely. Of course it "may" be that T-mobile are indeed blocking some services to 'offenders' (IM is not allowed) but I wonder if their system is that capable.
Obvious questions for you are: what OS are you using? Have you changed ANY comms settings from the original T-Mobile build? Have you tried a hard reset to restore original settings (including the all important T-Mobile extended ROM)?
If you still have the original OS ROM build running then you might try installing the configuration .cab files that are stored on the Extended ROM separately - some apply directly to such device settings. Access to that Extended ROM on the WM5 build is easy and you just need an application such as "HTweakC 2.0" (available here). Of course, and as ever, start with backing-up your device - but you will know that.
I hope this helps.
I have VSWL Rom.
I have setup the internet (GPRS) settins like they are suppose to be.
I believe that it is a fact that T-Mo has blocked ports, and has only left http smtp and pop3 open. So my dilema is why did verichat connect on my Treo 650 and not on my MDA or my 8525.
First we need to know if you are in tmobile usa, uk...????
if you are in tmo usa then you can't
if you have the proxies 216.155.165.50:8080 the most you can use is PIE (pocket internet explorer)
the best thing is to get the blackberry $20 dollar add-on plan and just setup without proxys. wap.voicestream.com and you have full internet access.
I am in the USA, and I have the T-zona 5.99 plan.
I am less than reluctant to close my mind for this not to work, since google maps works. and, as I said, on my Treo 650 using verichat worked perfectly.
I don't know what the difference in the way the Treo 650 connected and the way my 8525 connects.
Perhaps the programs that can connect are ones that ones that connect through port 80 and are proxied to 8080.
I am so lost on this topic though.
too many contractidicting points.
such as streamining works on win but not on palm
IM worked on Palm but on Win.
My Schools network uses clean access agent, which checks to make sure your windows device has the correct authentication. It will not let me go on ie, as it sees that I do not have the correct Virus protection etc. However it lets you use Opera, as it just lets it bypass the checks because none are in place for it.
I can use Opera or Skyfire, that isn't a prob. But when I try to use a program that connects to the Internet such AIM or QuickGPS, It won't work. Im assuming that the program is using IE to access the data. Although I have no idea how a program connects to the Internet (Does it use a browser?) Anyway, is there a way I can change the settings to get the program to use Opera?
Thanks,
I'm not sure that it will work, but you could try changing your default browser.
There are many threads in the forum with this information, Here's one, do a search for others.
hey, if you talk to your university's computer support team, they may tweak their internet settings so mobile browsing can work. i go to western connectisut state university, and i e-mailed the computer center with this problem (i dormed on campus and the ResiNET they used blocked me as well b/c i didnt install clean access agent. the university's network read my device as if it was a desktop since they blocked me saying i needed to install that ****ty software). once i did that, they e-mailed me back saying they updated their systems so i was able to use the web-based login, and then i began surfing the net. once u logged in, you should be able to update the GPS & use AIM with no real problems.
i hope this helps! there isn't a real way to bypass the system. believe me, i tried searching for ways to bypass the system. changing your default browser won't remedy it b/c the network only reads IP addresses and the fact information (doesn't matter what it is) is being pass through its network, it will block it without proper ID keys from the web-based log in. i even tried searching for a mobile version of cisco clean access agent but there isnt such software. like i said, talk to your university computing center and they can help you. it is really up to them to be able to change the settings around.
hi,everyone .this bother me for a long time I ask many times to get some help but no one can tell me how to resolve this.
I am in USA and use as T-MOBILE I have T-ZONE service I can use my phone online watch news you tube etc.but just msn can't online.anyone know how to fix that problem? please help on this one.thank you
no one know??! anyone live in usa have same problem??
dont know about USA. But for Vodafone NL you need to add a proxy server to your connection settings in order to get MSN to work. Maybe something like that is also needed for your provider
Some phone operators have blocked a lot of ports in order to limit capabilities of the lines. Perhaps only http port is open so MSN can't connect as it uses a specific port range to access its servers.
In France, SFR operator is acting like this, so I can't use MSN Messenger, except if I use its own specific software, which is not very attractive.
In my case MSN, Skype, don't work with proxy.
When I deleted proxy server everything works ok.
Hi,
Just bought my TD2, and overall happy with it... I started testing it out and noticed that the browser cannot access any secure sites (including but not limited to: ANY webmail like Yahoo or Gmail, school login, or internet banking site).
I am a T-Mobile UK contract user (Flext). When I first turned on the phone I let it automatically configure for internet use. For general browsing that worked fine, but wouldn't let me access the sites mentioned above.
I called T-Mobile and, though they tried to be helpful, never figured out the problem. I know this is not a general T-Mobile issue because I was able to access these sites on my older phone, and I know it's not a browser issue because when connected through Wi-Fi (to my home network) it's perfectly fine.
So - if anybody has had or heard of this issue before, please help! There must be SOME setting or option that I'm missing, that prevents me from accessing secure sites!
I have the standard ROM, which includes Opera 9.5 build 16277, and Internet Explorer (of indeterminate version). Both browsers have this issue, in different ways: Internet Explorer claims the website doesn't exist:
"Cannot find 'http://mail.google.com/mail/x/?source=mobileproducts&dc=gorganic'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
Opera 9.5 does one better and crashes: "We're Sorry... A problem has occurred with Opera9.exe"... followed by the option to send an error report to Microsoft.
As I said before it's NOT a browser problem because when connected to my home Wi-Fi network, both browsers work fine in secure sites.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wassim
The T-Mobile auto configuration puts an entry under Proxy Servers which you need to remove (go to "Settings, All Settings, Connections, Connections, T-Mobile Internet, Manage Existing Connections, Proxy Settings" and check "connect direct to the internet"). Your problems should now go away and Opera shouldn't crash any more (you may need to soft reset before this takes effect).
Thank you Pete... I can't believe it was that simple, but it worked! Funny thing is, I could have sworn that option was checked off previously. But I did it again, and soft reboot, and now I can access any site I damn well please!
I'll let the guys at T-Mobile know in case some other poor guy has the same issue.
Cheers,
Wassim
Hello friends...
so i came to a link posted here by someone on getting EDGE (T-Mobile USA ) network on out Windows Mobile phone using proxy..
(here's the link http://www.ehow.com/how_4833301_conf...ws-mobile.html)
when i opened Internet Explorer....there were no sites i could open...except it showed me an error message from T-Mobile that i need to use a MONTHLY BASED PLAN...
HOwever to my surprise i opened YAHOO MOBILE(m.yahoo.com) on OPERA 10 beta 2 and bravo.....IT WORKED...that means i could check my emails...
however other sites did not opened and gave the same error message !!
ALso then i opened up a JAVA APPLICATION Called "SNAPTU" ( http://www.getjar.com/mobile/18108/s...-kp500-cookie/ )
it asked me to connect to the internet and i gave permisions !! and it worked as well !! i was able to access FAcebook....CNN...BBC...etc...
but again OPERA MINI 5 did not work !!!
is it becos of the java apps connecting via proxy...if so please tell me some java apps that will work just like SNAPTU....
PLEASE TELL ME !! IS THERE ANY WAY TO MAKE IT REALLY WORK !!
thank you !
Is only T-zones enabled?
Opera mini doesn't support proxied connection because it uses a tunnel through socks or http, that includes the tzone wap proxy. Opera mobile however does. Not sure why Internet explored doesn't work but it sucks so I wouldn't touch it anyways. U need to configure ie to use a proxy before anything else. I believe opera mobile autodetects it
internet2.voicestream.com
not:
epc.tmobile.com

agreed. tmobile disabled proxy support.
OP, what exactly are you trying to do?
well ok here's d thing....application like SNAPTU (java application) works.....i can use facebook...and a lot other apps....inside it...so clearly we some how have packet transfer....also Palringo mobile messenger works......absolutely fine.....
now if theres just some way to make opera mini work the same way.....
i saw someone post a opera mini handler...in which a lot of people were able to make mini work....using their own proxy support for EDGE connections......
