Hey guys... i've seen a couple of threads but they've lead no where.
I'd really like to map the IE key to OK/Close.
AE buttons prog can assign the key to ok/close but we can't get Explorer to stop launching at the same time.
Is there a reg edit to disable explorer from launching?
surely... i just wish i knew enough about the registry to start experimenting myself, but i'm not programmer savy.
Appreciate any input.
I hope that someone can fix this!
yes it would be really good to get this fix.... i get annoyed when PIE launches..

Many a dialers are proposed : PhonePlus, PhoneExt or MobiDial.NET...
These dialers proposes a mapping on the green key , but this mapping is purely applicatif that it is an executable charged in memory which makes this mapping.
And well here an easy way so that the dialer by default is your dialer preferred and more that which is integrated... For that it's necessary to use an editor of register to the image of PHM Regedit or Resco Regedit then to go to the key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\RAI\:MSCPROG
and modify the value "1" and take the path of your favorite dialer, for example to MobiDial.NET the value is "\Program Files\mobiDial\mobiDial.exe"
can this same philosophy be used on other hardware buttons?
Well, I've tried this way, trying to assign the button to phoneplus (even though they already did it) but it didnt work!
I even tried to assign it to the "calc" just to see if it really works, and again nothing.
Are you sure?
Did anybody got that work?
Didn't work for me too.
Shame :?

any thoughts on mapping the green button? i need it
food for thought maybe its not regulated by a "single" registry key.
well the general idea as i understand is that the dialer "cprog.exe" gets loaded in the memory firct probably somewhere in the registry rather than the startup, then the green button gets mapped into it also somewhere in the registry, now if you check this link

you might get some understanding to my idea, please help me with this thing am determined enough but need some experts opinion

Under settings buttons... always worth switching off and restarting then if that does not hard reset.

same problem here........................probably you installed another key mapper too? (AEBPlus).
It seems a hard reset is the only solution, or somebody could post the registry entry where this key map is defined!?
TIA
Yep put AEBPlus in didnt like so i uninstalled it now no comm manager Ahhh!!!!
After uninstalling AEBPlus, you keep stuck with only "4 buttons", at least in the System Settings. Happily everything keeps working...............expect the CommMgr button.
Either somebody posts the correct reg-entries for this key, or you have to do a hard reset.
I think it might be solved if you place the original files back into: \Windows\AppButtons
Maybe somebody can post a RAR file of that folder?
Second thing, I found the keys in the register. They can be found here:
Mobile device\HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
You will see that the 4 keys are there left by AEBPlus. The missing keys should be here when you have a working Wizard
Hope someone can post the keys and values aswell?
I had the same problem. The registry values in this post will restore function:

You have to add a string to the register. Then give that string the right name and value
AEBPlus was completely rewritten recently. New version will not harm any application buttons ever, compatible with almost any WM 2003/2003SE/2005 device and has a lot of new features

I use SPB Mobile Shell and I would like to make it so "SPB Menu" comes up when I press the Start button on the top left hand corner.
Is there a way to do this?
I dont think this is possible, but why would you want to do that, a pop up menu is great in my opinion.
I recommend you to assign the spb menu to one of your hardware keys, like the camera key or something like that,
cu
It is possible - for example QuickMenu can replace the start menu with itself. HTC EnlargeStart Menu does the same. Maybe it needs some kind of registry hack.

I LOVE the SPB Menu and since I use my fingers 99% of the time on my Touch I don't really have a use for the built in Start menu.
I know there has to be a way to do this, I just hope it is a easy one.
I looked through my registry a bit but I didn't see anything that would change this.
It has to be possible.
Is there a way to do a registry dump, perform the HTC Start Menu Tweak and then perform another dump and somehow compare them to see what has changed?
With Wisbar Advance 3 you can map the start button to anything you want.
I installed Wisbar Advance Desktop to play around with when I first got my Touch. I uninstalled it because I didn't like the functionality. After the uninstall I still have Wisbar icons showing up in some of my menu's. There is no way I am going to install one of their bloated products just to do one simple function.
Hi, i am looking for the same Startbutton tweak.
I want to remove the Startbutton AND the word "Start" right to the button.
Wisbar Lite Taskmanager does remove the word "Start".
I'd like to know how this works, and somehow it must be possible to remove or reassign the Startbutton without installing WAD or WA3, a megapackage for only one function.
If someone has the skills to do this and/or write a simple program to make this happen I wouldn't mind compensating them. Either in $$ or Webhosting!
Nothing is being removed in most of these cases, the start button and or title bar is being covered up.

I don't want anything removed, I just want to change the link on the Start menu to point to something else.
bump it up!
I compared the registry with the large menu on and off and this is all I found. Not much help (for me anyway).
BIG START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"DropDown"=dword:00000000
"Enable"=dword:00000001
LITTLE START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"Enable"=dword:00000000
"DropDown"=dword:00000000

He says that it's not a registry tweak... maybe those programs relocate the title bar and put themselves in that positions looking similar with different functions... That is the way that evb used to work fullscreen (relocating the title bar, sip and taskbar)...
I finally gave in and reinstalled Wisbar Advance. I would rather accomplish this without using Wisbar but for now it will work.
I find the ''internet explorer key' quite useless for me. On the other hand I need to be able to send 'ok' command to my touch dual through the sliding keyboard so what about remapping the 'internet explorer key'? Does anyone know how to do that?
coool idea. very convenient and practical. comparing a samsung sgh-i780 to the touch dual, the fact that the i780 had an OK button was one of the very few advantages that the samsung had over my htc. hope someone can reply to this with a solution......
I would like to make the internet button a return key which enters moves the cursor to a new line when typing messages etc, I can't find an easy way of entering a line return when writing using the 16 key keypad.
have you tried AE-Buttons?
AE Button Plus works not as good as I hoped: it's starting another application when I remap it but the Internet Explorer is still started afterwards!
I think the solution could be found in the keyboard driver itself ...!
yap i hope someone could make this, i don't use the internet explorer button changing/remapping it to ok/close button is a very good idea. as for now i change the camera button to ok/close but quite hard to push because in the side corner.
Is there still no solution for this?
i never use the "internet" and "messaging" keys from my keyboard and it would be nice to change them to "OK" and an other program..
bump! i hope someone finds a solution for this..
I found following Registry:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/internet explorer/KeyMaps
Does anybody know if this has anything to do with what we're looking for???
I think I was able to find a workaround for this:
1) make a copy of iexplore.exe in the windows folder to iexplore2.exe (can anyone upload a copy of original iexplore.exe, i can't seem to make a copy of it)
2) Download http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJOkButt
3) from program files of vjokbutt, find the exe and rename it to iexplore.exe
4) copy the vjokbutt that was renamed to iexplore.exe to \windows and overwrite the original iexplore
optional: open a registry editor and replace all iexplore.exe to iexplore2.exe, otherwise, internet explorer might not work..
It would be better if anyone can transform the Messaging and Internet Explorer key into Hardware Softkeys ...! It would be much better because of increasing usability in some fullscreen programs!
I really miss these Hardware Softkeys in Esmertec Jbed!
hi to all
i want to change the softkey and make a shortcut to icontact, but i cant at tf3d.
i have to change the reg edit ... and i cant finf him.
thnx..
you can use this program http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm to edit the registry......
and for remaping the soft keys http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413100....
hope this helps
Hmmm...
....might I also recommend getting a competent person to help you, because if you have to ask where the registry is, then you most likely have no buisness modifying it.
