yonis,
Your going to need either a microSD or a microSDHC; the regular sized SD aren't going to fit.
I usually keep an eye out on pricewatch.

Socket SDIO Card

Anyone using this card with any success?
http://www.socketcom.com/product/WL6200-480.asp
(I have an MDA Compact variant if that makes any difference....)
i don't know where i read it, but i think it is identical in construction with the sandisk wlan card.
cheers
ok - thanks for the info
I have had it for one year
Much better than Sandisk, buy it
I use sandisk and have no problems. Highly recommend it. Why do you say it isn't as good?

maximum SD size for HTC Magician ?

Hi! Does anyone know if Magician supports a 4GB SD card ? (I've tried a 2GB one, works fine and I'd like to buy a 4GB now).
Also, what about the new high-capacity HCSD ones ? (there are already some 8GB cards available). Is Magician able to read/write on those too ?
Many thanks.
4 GB max
SDHC cards dont work on magician.

hmmm, do you know which "model" is it (ie the 40x one, the 120x, etc). Please take a look at the link below (from the official Transcend site) it gives up to 2GB compatible size ... (strange) ... (my unit is the Qtek S100)
http://www.transcend.com.tw/Support...D=Qtek&ModelID_F=&ModelID=S100+PocketPC+Phone
Anyone else had any compatibility problems with 4GB SD cards of other brands ? I tried one today from a friend which is a 4GB SD (brand "A-Data", standard SD, non a SDHC one) and the S100 can't read it.
Many thanks.

Good to know that !! This old horse can still do a lot !!
My Transcend card is NOT the high-speed one.
Frankly, I don't think the high speed makes any difference on the XDA II Mini at all.
I'm also using the 4gb transcend. It's the slower model and I can definitely noticed the difference when it's connected to my pc through a card reader, but it's not so noticeably on my magician.
Hmm. I've just ordered a 4GB Sandisk [FONT=&quot]Ultra II card for my JAM. I hope I've not made a blunder!!
Will report back when it arrives.

microSDHC cards on Advantage via micro to mini adaptor?

I'm looking to finally jump in and pick up an Advantage, but would like to skip the micro-sd format. If I pick up a 4GB microSDHC card with adaptor so it can be used in a miniSD slot, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134528
...is there any reason the Advantage wouldn't read it? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks,
Galt
I use microSD with adaptor. It work
Thanks, good to know.
Is there any reason you don't just buy a 4Gb MiniSD? That's what I have in my Athena and I use it alongside the MicroDrive.

I kinda feel like mini is already a dead format, most new HTC devices use micro, so I don't want to invest in it. Also, I'm buying the Advantage as kind of a temporary device, I think I'll be replacing it in less than a year with a device that likely uses micro. If I bought mini it'd be a waste.
I'm sure they will have changed format again in a year! LOL

Maximum Capacity for mini is 4gb, whereas it is 6gb for micro at the moment..

Now that is a reason - if you want 6Gb now.I have a 4Gb Mini in my Athena now and if I get a device that takes Micro in a years time I'm sure larger capacites will be available.
And it does beg the question 'Can the Advantage read 6Gb cardsor is 4Gb the max'. Am I right in presuming that if it can read a4Gb SDHC (as opposed to SD) card, then it should be able to read a 6GB SDHC card OK?
Has anyone actually tried a 6Gb card?
And if they do work am I going to buy one. I know I shouldn't but.....
I'm using a Kingston 4GB SDHC with a mini adapter on my Dopod U1000 (still original firmware). Performance is faster than the in-build Microdrive. 4GB is the smallest SDHC capacity. It is not a problem to use a 6GB or even the 8GB SDHC from Kingston.

How is this possibe? SDHC is bigger than miniSDHC. How is it possible to insert the bigger size SDHC into the smaller miniSDHC slot?
Cause hes actualy talking about a MicroSD to MiniSD adapter..Duh..

He said SDHC, which has the 8 GB capacity. The largest microSDHC capacity is only 6 GB, so I think this is not what he meant.
Not so fast.. 8GB MicroSD has already been announced, and will be hitting stores soon, if not already.. MicroSD is also SDHC Compatible. Besides have you ever thought he OP, might have missed/left a word out?

Correct, OP meant to say he wanted to use micro to mini adaptor to avoid miniSD format.
I'm not aware that kingston already sells 8gb microSDHC. That's good news if this is true. Any head up on where I can source this? Samsung's is still vapourware (2008 availability) AFAIK.
Samsung, Sandisk and Toshitba all have plans for 8GB in the works.
One of them will be selling soon, as opposed to 1-2 yrs from now..
Sorry for the confusion. I have a Kingston 4GB microSDHC in a mini adapter on my Dopod U1000 (original firmware). My friend has a SanDisk 6GB microSDHC (bought in the US) also in a mini adapter on his Dopod U1000 (upgraded to Dopod WM6). The Kingston 6GB microSDHC is expected in the stores in Kuala Lumpur around Christmas (according to the local distributor) and the 8GB microSDHC sometime Q2 2008.
When I bought mine just a couple of months ago, they only had 4 GB max. Soon, we'll have double that amount. Wow, this is just fantastic. As big as our harddrive! What speed class would it be I wonder. I'm going to put all my musics in there. Currently I'm constrained by the lack of capacity, and am using multiple miniSD to swap in and out. In future I won't need to do that anymore.
8 GB available in UK NOW
8 GB available in UK NOW yep carphone wherehouse are selling 8GB micro sd's now 70.00GBP so we can have 16gig in total WOW i want one once confirmed these work with athena unless i get the shift.....

Memory card

Can any X1 user help me out, here?
My X1 should arrive tomorrow, and as far as i am aware, here in the UK we are not getting a memory card in the box.
So, Am i looking to buy a simple Micro SD card, or does this device support Micro SD HC?
Thanks for any useful answers. I just dont want to have to go and exchange after buying.

It supports microSDHC up to 32GB (when it's released).
yup, I'm using a 16gb micro SDHC card (can't wait for the 32gb to become available!)
I bought an 8gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card on Amazon for £14 and it works great in the X1
Thanks, peeps. I was thinking about getting 2 8Gb cards, so i'll probably check out Amazon, amongst others.
I find 2 cards better than just 1 for my own needs. Thats kinda why i needed confirmation of HC support.
Thanx again, and stay happy, all.

For me its kinda easy to lose those small cards. I have one in my phone and one in my laptop for ready boost and I always seem to forget there is a 4gig in my laptop.

It says that X1 supports microsdhc in the whitepaper. And I can also confirm that Sandisk 16Gb microsdhc works well in my X1.

Someone was mentioning that tracks tend to freeze with the 16gb when changing songs. Do you have this problem?

I haven't noticed something like that. At least with PocketPlayer.
Micro SDHC Class 2 or 6 ?
Hi,
AFAIK the 16 GB Micro SDHC are currently only available with Class 2 speed.
Is this sufficient for the X1 ?
Or is there any advantage using a Class 6 Micro SDHC ?
AFAIK these are currently only available upto 8 GB like the SanDisk Mobile Ultra series.
Any recommendations?
Thanks you.

Andreas

What kind of SD Card?

What kind of SD cards can be used in HTC Gene?
Like there are microSD, miniSD etc...
Thanks
Gene uses SD Cards. But you can use microSD, miniSD through an adaptor. It's supports SDHC cards as well. I have a 2GB(microSD) and a 4GB(miniSD) cards and both works well.

So, what cards should I look for, any type of SD or some specific.
Which can be the best...?
Is there any difference between their (micro, mini, SDHC) cost?
The price depends on the capacity of the card. You can buy anyone. but if you buy microSD or miniSD, keep in mind that you will need an adapter for SD(it's the size of the Gene's card slot). The differences between them are basically the format(physical size). Look for a fast card (150x) and you'll be happy.

Does the price depend upon weather its microSD, miniSD (same capacity) ??
Also, what type of card will fit in the Gene without requiring an adapter?
Thanks

I think not. Here in Brazil, pratically there is no difference.

Does using an adapter affects the performance of the card, like loading time or reading time? +ve and -ve points of using an adapter?
Thanks

using an adaptor has not affected any performance in my phone for the last 2 yrs or so i have been using it...also if you have a mini SD means you can use the same memory card on most of the new cell phone models like sony ericsson or nokia...in that way it is advantageous to use the mem card with the adaptor...

Thanks dude, for the reply.
But still not able to decide whether to go for SD card or for microSD/miniSD with adapter...
Gene has written 'SD' on it and not microSD or miniSD. So, does microSD or miniSD supposed to be working fine?
You can use anyone. Don't worry.
