Brodit is expensive, but I bought mine from www.proclipusa.com. I bought it because it was the only car mount that I found that had an integrated charger, and it supported the phone in portrait or landscape, keyboard open or closed. Pics attached of my Kaiser running TomTom Navigator 6 in my truck.

Jay, I've got a 99 Tahoe and am looking at this kit. What is the reachability like on that side of the console?

This is a 1998 GMC Sierra K1500 extended cab. It is very good. Just as easy as reaching the radio or the a/c controls. Watch out though, they are slow to ship. When I first ordered it, it was backordered and it took them 3 weeks to ship the vehicle mount, then it broke 2 seconds after I tried to install... I sent it back and it took them another 3 weeks to backorder and send me another. The second one went right on, and didn't break, and has been clipped securely to my dash for about 2 months now.
The total cost for the charging cradle & the vehicle mount was a little over $100 US. An added bonus is that I've taken to leaving my Motorola H700 on the cradle to charge when I'm not in the truck. It just slides right in. No more leaving it dangle at the end of a car charger with the cord slung over the gearshift.
When I first got it I had problems sliding the phone in, and it would just miss the USB connector by just a little, and stop at the USB connector. Now that I've gotten used to it, the phone slides right in, and I rarely have problems.
I've been very pleased with the exception of how long it takes them to ship. If you have any more questions just let me know...
-Jay

I had the same shipping experience, 3 weeks went by and I had to call just to find out it was back-ordered. They upgraded me to overnight shipping at no charge. I also paid little over $100, and yeah I feel insane to paying that much for a molded piece of plastic and car charger. After researching other alternative though, no wanting a suction cup based holder or others I figured I'd just order it.
I've been very impressed with it, and it installed easily. I was able to replace the charging cable with my all in one cable power/audio/mic cable and everything looks professional.

I ordered mine from proclipusa on the 23rd and received it on the 26th. Don't much care for their mounts, however, so that is on the way from panavise. Hopefully it will get here tomorrow so I can install it this weekend.

I ended up ordering one of these with the integrated charger. Not sure if it was worth the big bucks, but I did get it much quicker than 3 weeks. Took about 5 business days.

Here is my set-up
I use the Noreve case which I discovered fits the Krusell Belt Clips & other Mounts (as the stock Noreve belt clip is quite possibly the worst one inthe universe).
I have a Krusell Car Mount bracket screwed onto the Brodit/Proclips Dash Mount for my 2007 Ford Escape.
I and able to view & reach my phone for use while driving just fine. On the plus side, when I change phones I'll just need to find another case that hangs in the Krusell piece (which is very easy).
I even have my external GPS Antenna tucked behind the Brodit plate for easy access if I need or want to use it.
But Seriously, here is the cost breakdown for my rig:
$ 45 - Noreve Case (From Noreveusa.com, Use "CardMe" (case sensitive) Discount code when checking out to save 10%)
$ 40 - Brodit/Proclip Car Mount (From Proclipusa.com)
$ 15 - Krusell 58124 - Multidapt Slide Swivel Belt Clip & 58117 ( or 58127 newer version) - Multidapt Car Holder Kit (Round Thing) (From eBay user "Paylessalways")
$ 15 - HTC/OEM Car Charger (From at&t Corp Store with Discount)
$ 20 - External GPS Antenna (From eBay)
====================================
$135 - Total Cost
Knowing that you're happy with the case & car mount for the great Cell Phone/PDA/GPS Unit Lifestyle Device you have, PRICELESS!
Note: If you want a clip that will ratchet at 8 different angles, order Krusell 54116 - Multidapt Ratchet Swivel Kit instead of the slide swivel clip.

A Good, Cheap Car Mount That Works With A "Cased" Device

I just got my "Universal" car mount from AccStation on ebay and it's GREAT. Because it's adjustable, I can use it with my Sedio slim rubberized case and it fits perfectly. It came to only $9.00 with shipping and it comes with a car charger also.

I have a 3.5mm "MP3 Input" in my car and I'm able to use this 3.5mm/mini-USB adapter so I can listen to the music on my phone while it's charging in the mount.
Definitely worth the money and for all you people waiting for the Sedio mount, this is a less pricey alternative.
my biggest worry is that it will not stick to the windshield that great. any problems thus far?

Not at all, it's actually a pretty well-made setup. The suction cup is very strong and has a little lever on it that you press down to create stronger suction.
I was very impressed at the quality of this for the price.
Hey, do you have any pics of how it actually looks on your car? Thanks.

I'll try to get some up soon.
It would be great if these folks made a mount for the dash...say some sort of vent mount.
I have a miata with a non-standard vent that makes the arkon vent mount impossible to attach. I also want to get myself one of the 3000mah Mugen batteries and it won't fit in my current ProClip mount.
I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem and what solution, if any, was used.
Also failed to mention that in CA, where I live, they frown on windshield-mounted anything. Consequently the mount displayed on eBay is a no-go.
I was looking for a car charger, and they're all around 13 bucks shipped. For 9 bucks on the car charger AND I get a PDA mount? Hell yea!
According to the auction, it comes went vent clips. Have you tried those?
Oh hell. I bought it. For 9 bucks, I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for the listing!

AH HA!!! That's what those things are!
I was wondering what they were, they looked like spare parts. No, I haven't tried them.
I managed to take a few pictures while I was sitting in my car today but I took them WITH my phone, so it's only pictures of the mount itself. I'll try to take some pictures of it with the device in there soon.

Good thing it comes with the vent clips. I didn't know it was illegal!
http://www8.garmin.com/include/productPages/windshieldLaw.html
BTW, thanks for the pics, haze.
you could always mount it on your drivers side window and snake it down to right under the vent maybe
good thing im in texas and no one really cares
but i better keep that i mind when i travel to CA for business trips :/
As a followup, I got this on Saturday and it's working great so far. The vent clips worked perfect on my friend's car. But they didn't work so great on mine. However, the windshield-mount works great. It holds the phone nicely without any troubles.
The car chargers works fine as well. Hope it lasts.

Glad to see you are enjoying it as much as I am.
Good luck.
I got the one from Bestbuy, noted in a previous post.
It has a one year warranty. So far so good.
Works really good with adjustable mount.
Charger is plugged and everything seems fine.
I am in California, and have it mounted on windshield.
Not worried about it being mounted there, right nest to where
rear view mirror is mounted.
I picked up the same one as OP from ebay, and so far I am very happy with it. I have only had it a week, and although it is not super high quality stuff, it holds the Kaiser very well and attaches to the vents very securely. I can go around turns and over bumps and never worry about it falling out. For $9, it is a very nice car mount.
I can also verify that the RAZR charger that it comes with works fine with the Tilt/Kaiser.

Herbert Richter Bike Mount

Hey everybody,
I've tried searching (using the Google and built in search) for this information, but doesn't seem to be anywhere (unless I'm using the wrong search terms). Anyway, I've been thinking of buying something to mount my Vario III on my bike to make use of the GPS for ages, but have struggled to find anything that would suit what I want. For some reason today I started to look again, and I found this Herbert Richter bike mount, which looks pretty good, but I'm not sure whether it will fit.
http://www.pdahut.com/store/product.php?productid=19130&cat=1936&page=1
The problem I've got is that I want to mount it on the stem, instead of the actual handlebar (I'm talking bicycle, not motorbike ) and I'm not sure whether this would fit something with that big of a diameter. The specs on here have a couple of measurements in, but none of them seem to make any sense to me
Does anybody else already have one of these, or maybe any other suggestions about mounting on the stem? My handlebar space is already taken up by bike computer, heart rate monitor and tri-bar extensions, so I'm a bit stuck!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice
I don't have the mount you mentioned, but I have considered it. It doesn't offer any protection for PDA, which is a must for me.
As for attaching out Kaisers to our bikes, have a look at this and this thread.
I am currently waiting for my Otterbox case to arrive, which I will (somehow) attach to my bike.
I've had a look at the threads you mentioned, but these aren't really what I'm looking for. The one on the Modaco board with pictures is close, but the Otterbox you mentioned is simply too big.
I'm not after anything like shock protection or particularly worried about dropping it. I'd like to waterproof the phone, which I think I've got covered, so I'm just after a way of mounting it to my bike safely now.

In that case you might be interested in a case I have originally bought to mount to my bike - PDAir Aluminium case ( http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000164&products_id=6561 ). It has a screw at the back, so it should be possible to attach it to a bike. I was in a bike shop with the case and found a cheap holder (originally designed for bike light) that would fit, but just didn't seem massive enough for me.

Would you mind if I ask you how? (I mean how did you waterproof your phone and what is your overall solution so far).
I am using the Krusell setup for this exact purpose. I like the fact that I can buy multiple different mounts to work with the case. i.e. belt/bike/etc.
Here is a pic of it on my bike

I don't know how the Original Poster waterproofed his phone, but this is pretty fullproof http://www.skins-mobile.com/. I've seen them for sale on eBay.
I've ordered the mobile skins that sonus linked in the previous post to handle the waterproofing. They haven't arrived yet, so I haven't been able to test them. I might just go with a clear food bag or something, you know the type that presses together (I think maybe zip-lock to Americans?) at the top, but I'll see how the skins work and how comfortable I am using them
So all that's left is the mount, and from the 2 people I've e-mailed about the Herbert Richter mount I've been told:
1) Product is packaged, so can only say that it fits motorbike bars too (completely useless)
2) Fits bars up to 25mm diameter (seems a bit small to me)

Would be definitely too small for the stem on my bike.
Ok, well the Mobile Skins arrived to protect my phone, and... well... I think I'm gonna go the food bag route. Sure, they protect the phone from water really well, but they weren't really big enough to easily fit over the phone, and I wasn't that comfortable "slipping it on"
Plus, a food bag will be much easier to re-use, and a lot cheaper, plus it'll be clear so I can see the screen properly instead of struggling through the yellow mobile skin (the screen seemed to lose a lot of brightness).
I still haven't had chance to measure my stem on my bike for the mount or anything, but hopefully over the weekend I'll be able to get out (weather permitting) and try a few things!
All working fine on the handlebars here.
I initially tried a Krusell case and mount but when I found the case flap securing clip obstructed my TyTN IIs Ext USB port so I couldn't plug in my wired headphones while it was in the case closed, I returned that gear.
I now have a Herbert Richter bike mount like the one initially referenced (I bought the phone holder and handlebar clamp together) and despite initial reservations it works perfectly clamped around my handlebar but there's no way it'd fit around the stem. Although the holder is uncushioned and just made of smooth plastic, it's left no scratches behind on my TyTN II (original HTC model) case. I presume this is because the HTC version has a rubberised coating on the back/battery cover. I don't know how it would go with the Vodafone V1615's shiny plastic back though.
I was also concerned that the TyTN II may fly out the front under heavy braking but so far its remained firmly in place (perhaps assisted by the rubberised backing). My bike is electrically assisted (it's a Giant Twist) but there seems to be no interference with the TyTN II GPS and Tomtom Navigator 6 and all seems to be working fine together. It's worth it seeing the surprised pedestrians after they hear navigation directions coming from a bike
Skins are Cool!
These Mobile Skins are so cool. I purchased a few 3-packs and I need more. I found a site called www.skinsmobileusa.com in the US. I found out this is the only place to find them. They provide great mobile protection. I do a lot of surfing and now I can at least take my phone to the beach. Skins keeps out the sand and water as long as I am there.

Cradle For Fuze/Raphael With HTC's ExtUSB?

I want to charge my phone, eyeball the stock reports, sync with my PC and listen to my music while at my desk. A cradle would be perfect, I'd think. What I can't tell from all these cradle manufacturers is if they connect with the full HTC 11-pin ExtUSB connector or just the mini-USB connector. If they had a real ExtUSB connector, I could plug the (bulky) audio/charge adapter INTO THE CRADLE, then my headphones into that.
I was looking at something like the Fuze cradle at:
http://www.thepocketsolution.com/
Does anyone own a Raphael cradle with a ExtUSB connector or know if something like that exists? You'd be able to tell if when you drop your Raphael in the cradle, plug the headphone/charge adapter into the cradle, you can hear music through the headphones.
Thanks!
Well. Go to expansys-usa and find the cradles. Some are expensive, like the original HTC cradle which is around $40, and some are cheap like the expansys one (Don't remember price). Both have extUSB and have a 3.5mm in behind the cradle.
I just received the HTC Cradle to use with my Fuze in the office.
It looks awesome! Charges, syncs and plays music.
It has caused me two problems, however.
1. I need a bigger Micro SD to put music on my Fuze as this set-up will definitely replace having the iPod docked and playing.
2. I had to sign up for DashWire so I could receive and send text messages via my PC - and not have to remove the Fuze from the dock.

Hmmm I receive SMS while connected through USB cable w/o problems.
That HTC cradle is OK? Has it a slot for 2nd battery?
Dig the look of the second one but $100 for 2 cradles (office and home isn't that funny).
very similar to (or perhaps it exactly IS) expansyv's "deluxe" cradle, but relatively cheaper:

Could have been kinda expensive, but I ended up with a "please be a customer again" 15% off coupon that made it more tolerable.
Thanks for the tip, all!
(Now, for a case! )
Did anybody purchase the one cyberblue quoted?
We all know cost is perhaps "a buck fifty" ... so why throw 40 into expansys' throat instead of 20 into another vendor - they are all made in China anyway...
@tvguy
HTC - No 2nd battery slot
eXpansys - 2nd battery slot under cover
I bought this one:

Chose Brando as I have bought loads of stuff from them and always had great service. Only hitch was my local post office forgot to tell me it arrived and Brando had almost got to send me a replacement free of charge - lucky for them I got a reminder card (even though I didn't get a first card!).
I just received this one (ebay item 180308141073) from buy2asia and would state that it looks and works exactly like the one from expansys but is half the price. Arrived within 5 days and I am more than pleased!

The only difference is, that one's price is an AU and the other's is in USD.
The first one should cost you $6 less. I don't remember the conversion rate to rupees so I couldn't tell you that.
@swordfish2 & Kraize
THESE TWO ARE DIFFERENT!!!
One has that ugly "hump" and has kind of structured plasticy surface while Two is the stylus one with flap to hide the 2nd battery!
For style I'd go with TWO and the one I bought is the "TWO-Style".

That's basically the one I got - from ebay, shipped from hong kong. It's a great dock and very nice looking. the only problem I had was they sent a european AC adapter (wrong plug). I have a bunch of usb AC adapters from other things so it wasn't an issue...
Without the spare battery, it's a little light so docking and undocking takes two hands - one to hold down the dock, one to pull out the phone...

carrying pouch (clip or loop?)

I'm looking for a carrying pouch for my phone.
The type I"m looking for is one that has loops for my belt to pass through. My impression is that the pouch with the loop for the belt to pass through is more secure than the clip-on pouch. I volunteer at a ambulance corp and theres a lot of running around and equipment carrying and things like that. Last thing I want happening is me squatting and accidentally squeezing the release trigger of the pouch with my thigh and upperbody only to have my phone fall off.
Can anyone recommend a good case for under $15 that has what I"m looking for?
Thanks

I just upgraded from the 6800 to the Touch Pro today at my local Radio Shack and got a case as well that has a good strong metal clip, both horizontal & vertical belt loops, as well as a small carabiner and pen loop on it. The flap secures with Velcro, but it has a buckle on it to help keep it securely fastened. I do a lot of biking (the mountain kind, not the motor kind) and needed a good case that wouldn't leave my phone in the middle of the woods somewhere. I think this one is almost perfect. The phone fits in snug, yet not too snug. The only way I would say it would be better would be if it had a softer lining inside it, it's not made for touch screens. Would recommend a screen protector, which you have on anyways, right? Thought so. ;-) Here is the manufacture's page for it. The model # is CI-RUGGED-MB. Only cost around $12, but it was at Radio Shack, and they charge over $100 for a 120GB hard drive that you can get on newegg for $30-40...
If you want a really goood case for under 15 bucks, i reccomend buying
this case from wireless emporium. Ive been using it for almost a year now, and it is extremely sturdy and durable, and only for 13 bucks, i LOVE it.
The best part is FREE shipping and you get it within a 7 days!

Affordable Car Mount that actually....works?

I've went through 3 different car mounts, all of which simply didn't work. One was an off brand once I got on clearance at work, a complete disaster, Another was a iOttie mount from Amazon that SEEMED to work for awhile, but quickly couldn't get it to stay on the dashboard or the windshield. Finally tried a vent mount that I got on eBay.....That simply made my AC vent pop out if I put the phone on from the weight.
Are there any car mounts for the N4 that are reliable and reasonably priced? Would prefer not to go above $20, maybe $30.
I have just spent 43.99 on a KiDiGi car mount. To me, I think price really affects quality.

I've been using an Arkon Slim-Grip Ultra and have found this to be really good - so much so that I bought one for our other car.
In one car I use the windscreen suction mount and in the other the mount is attached to a Brodit Proclip.
I'm waiting for this one.

Mine comes in middle of July. I'll let you know how it is once I get it.

I've got a Mountek nGroove. It works well but rather than use the CD slot on the stereo I slid it between the stereo and the center console. That way its not blocking the display on the stereo.

I got one of these years ago, maybe the mountek I got was the first gen of the universal line? Whatever, I got it when I got my Nexus One. It worked great until the pads melted off in the TX heat. Back then there were no replacement pads, so I was out $20 bux.

Looked this brand up. I think I like the idea of a sun visor mount and the price is right in my ballpark. Thank you!
The Samsung infuse 4g mount has been working perfect for me, only 15 at Amazon
I use the iMagnet mount on Amazon. It works very well with a case, and it's very study.
The main reason I purchased this one is because I wanted something I can easily pop on and pop off with ease. I like it a lot.

Yeah this one is their new design. Looks really promising I think. I'll probably review it once I get it!

Proclip is great yes, but for me with multiple cars, I need to remove the mount and put it in my other car or truck. Well if you buy an extra proclip that would solve your problem, but you may have a lighter wallet after that lol.
The Mountek works great for me as well.
I searched for years and spent hundreds of dollars (euro for me) on all kind of holders with each new phone i restarted my search for the best one and as with all the units i tested always the custom made brodit ones where the best. Just the cradle is 50 euro and the mount is about the same price . Since it is a modular system for the next phone you only need to order a new cradle . They exist in active power units and passive ones.
I don't know what you mean by affordable, but RAM Mounts make the sturdiest, most versatile mounts in the business. I use the XGrip, and I also attached a diamond plate to my LG WCP700. I have one ball mounted on my console that supports the charger, and another mirror mount ball for the XGrip. The mirror mount connects to your windshield where your mirror does, and the mirror connects to it. Arms are available as short as two inches and as long as five in both aluminum and plastic.
The modularity is nice. When I have a different device, or want to mount elsewhere, I just get another base or cradle. I have cradles for my Nexus 4 and 7, iPod, and golf GPS. Got bases mounted in the truck, boat, and one on a clamp that attaches to the steering column of a golf cart. Oh, and I have a threaded ball that mounts to a standard camera tripod.
The various bases, arms, and cradles run from about 8-20 dollars, so you're looking at about 25-40 bucks for a complete setup.
I use an exogear mount suits any phone size. http://www.exogear.com/products-exomount-car-mount-holder.html
I got the FoneM8 mount

but I can't find how it turns from vertical to horizontal and vice versa.
In description it mentions 3 joints, but I can find only 2.
Anyone else who has this mount too?

Hehe I got the same one from ebay a few days ago, and today I used it for the first time. It's true that it has two joints, but for turning it from vertical to horizontal (and vice versa) there is no joint.
All you have to do is just press the base (that holds the phone) to the right or to the left and it will turn to the postition you want.
I have to warn you though, that after (just) one or two hours of usage, the base fell from my windshield! To be honest it was a hot day today and the car was parked under the sun, but I wasn't expecting it to just fall so easily. Fortunately I didn't have the phone on the mount at that time...

Gia sou Pano.
What do you mean by pressing right or left?
Like clockwise?
Cause I can't understand how this works when the base is stable, for example when it's attached on the window.
