Disable OSK and Slide to activate maybe? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi, I have two questions,
1) Is there anyway to completely disable the on screen keyboard? We have wizard, we don't need it? It bugs me alot, I hate that unwelcome keyboard popping out from nowhere. Could any body suggest a way to pull it out from its root?
2) Could there be a way of Powering On the Wizard when we slide it open? That sure seems to be difficult, rather perhaps impossible as no program is working when its off, so no program can actually detect its slide to do some action.. I have no idea... If that's not possible, can we possibly have such settings applied to the wizard that it does not switch screen resolutions when its slide is opened or closed? Because sometimes I make some settings which look good in landscape, and when I slide it close, those settings are either lost, or start looking very stupid in Portrait mode.

Disabling orientation change on power on and keyboard slide.

Anyone know if it is possible to change the TyTn's annoying habit of making unwanted reversions from landscape to portrait orientation?
On my machine it:
1. Always changes to portrait when the device is switched on, even if it was in landscape when it switched off. Some idiot obviously thought this was a "feature" since it comes up in landscape initially and then switches to portrait as you watch.
2. Changes to portrait when the keyboard slide is closed even if it was in landscape before the slide was opened. This is a useful feature poorly thought through. Auto switch to landscape on open IS logical, but it should not assume you want to go back to portrait when the slide is closed again.
I'd be very happy if I could just disable both these "features", but ideally I'd be able to keep "switch to landscape on slide open", with or without "revert to previous orientation on slide close".

I don't have problem #1, and I wonder if it's being caused by the orientation sensor being triggered at the wrong time. The sensor is magnetic, so if there is a magnet (any magnet) making contact the screen orientation will be landcape. Others here have noticed that even the magnetic closures on the official Tytn case from HTC will trigger the change.
Problem #2 is strictly software and yes, it's damn annoying when a UI designer assumes that the only functionality needed is the one that best fits his/her needs with no regard to anyone else. The only solution I can offer you, short of writing an app to do this yourself is to map a key to orientation switching and switch it yourself once you retract the keyboard. (A side gripe here is why the orientation settings are buried so deep that only a power user can find it).
I think I did see an app for changing orientation but will need to search.
By the way it starts (sometimes) in landscape because the mechanism that changes orientation is a magnet switch. A magnet on the keyboard is moved when you slide it open and operates the switch. Howver since there are powerful magnets in some carrying cases these can operate the switch (as if the keyboard was open) Then when you take it out of the pouch it takes a second or to and reverts to portrait.
You can operate the switch manually by running a magnet along the side of the casing. (not that I'm suggesting that as a solution )
EDIT: perhaps this will help

Thanks guys.
I have been able to get a rotation icon on the today screen (iLauncher) and to map rotation to a hard-key using a combination of iLauncher and Resco KeyMapper. But rotation takes a noticable time (seems to redraw at least four times, probably a poor model for the today screen plugin architecture) and it is irritating to have to do it twice when you do not want it at all.
With further experimentation I find it goes according to the slide position when switched on - if you open the slide and then turn on, it always switches to landscape, if you switch on with the slide closed it always switches to portrait. I suppose this makes sense - it reads this magnetic switch at power on and acts accordingly. But if Rob is right, maybe this is a "feature" of one of the utilities I've installed. Next time I have to do a hard reset I'll see if it still happens with the base OS.
I was really hoping there'd be a registry key I could change to modify this behaviour or that there'd be some utility I could buy that allowed me to hook any action I wanted to the slide switch (or none). For example, it would be more ergonomic if it turned on on opening the slide as well as changing to landscape.
See what you mean about the magnet - maybe if I got a strong enough one it would permanently magnetise and stick!

Force landscape mode regardless of slide-out keyboard position?

Is it possible to keep the 6800 in landscape mode at ALL times unless I manually press a mapped key or click a rotate icon? There are alot of times where I'm sending tons of text messages and I'm constantly opening and closing the phone and the delay for the screen to rotate around gets REALLY annoying. I'd really like it if I could just keep it in landscape mode and switch it back manually when I'm done
Thanks in advance for any advice!
start, settings, personal, sceen allows you to rotate orientation.
You're right, it does. But that setting is overridden whenever you slide the keyboard in/out. So if I were to go set my 6800 to landscape manually, then open the keyboard and close it again, it will automatically go back to portrait mode regardless of what I've set as my personal setting.
I'm looking for a way to stop my 6800 from automatically changing the screen orientation when the keyboard is slid in or out
try this it should work for you.
Thanks for that. It will suffice for the time being until I find some way to make the change fully manual. Seems I've found some people on PPC Geeks who are looking for a solution to this as well.
Hopefully someday someone will figure it out
supposedly someone is going to post something that may help!

Turning on screen with stylus out?

Hi just wondering how it would be possible to bring the phone out of standby mode when i pull out the stylus from the phone?
The weird thing is that sometimes when i take out the stylus the screen turns on but most of the times i have to just press the button at the top to turn it on.
Would actually rather not do that but to turn on when i want to use it with the stylus.
I used Gyrator but that didn't work.
Any suggestions of apps?
anyone????
You can do that with S2U2.
Well any other programs? I hate SU2U.
Then pocketshield is the programm
I like it more then s2u2
Don't really know what advice to give you here... My HD turns on every time if I pull the stylus out, while it's in standby-mode.
The reason for why it only works some times for you can be a conflict with a program you have installed.
Gyrator works absolutely fine for this function. Can even turn th PDA off too when it is put back (although I don't use this particular function)
I use Gyrator too and it seems to work, it might even be a native HD function.. not sure as I didn't try it before.
I don't have your problem. I didn't add specific software for that however my HD wakes up every time I put stylus out.
i have duttys rom 1.7 and it does this automatically
Maybe its as easy as a registry change?
I second that nikki, my HD does it with no 3rd party programs or ROMs
As far as i remember, it is by default, but you can turn this off with advanced config or HDTweak.. can't remeber which one.
Ciao
Fred
It works like this as default indeed. Check your tweak or other programs that might interfere.
Can't find a single setting in Advanced Config or HD Tweak for anything to do with pulling out the stylus. Also tried AEBplus thinking that this would let me map the pull out action as a key, but this didn't work either.
Does anyone know the registry entry for when you pull out and put back in the stylus? I'd like to be able to set that up so it can run the notes program.
Problem with Stylus!!
has someone an answer for this?
I'd like to switch the automatic wake up off, because my stylus has some failures now, I don't know how to fix it.
Everytime I touch the side of the phone, where the stylus is placed the device is unlocked. seems to be a kind of defective contact. not sure how to explain it correctly. but it's annoying, when I pull my phone out of the pocket it unlocks, or maybe when it put it in, that's not so funny...
how can I switch the stylus-unlock-function off? any kind of registry setting?

Disable landscape mode in dialer?

Hey guys,
so, I couldn't find this posted using the search feature, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask since I tried looking already
Basically, is there a way to disable the dialer from going into landscape mode due to just tilt (as opposed to opening the keyboard) or even just disabling landscape altogether for it?
It's kind of frustrating when I open the dialer and sometimes the keypad is gone because I'm not entirely upright.
Thanks!
Man I want this too. Whenever I dial in bed it it happens. And none of the screen rotation toggle apps work!
cd's or tapes?

Unnecessary split screen change

Okay, so i only just made this account. I don't have any experience when it comes to programming. But i just had to get this out.
Is it okay if i rant for a second? Why did they change the split screen mode? It uaed to be really practical but now it's juat a buggy mess! Apps constantly flip out, some apps dont even work because it doesn't acknowledge that the phone is in split screen!
How dose this change benifit anybody? You could already access your home acreen by pressing on the home button! Now i can't use my phone while it's in my pocket without it opening a bunch of apps!! Like who the hell though this was a good idea?? It doesn't add anything other then rendering split screen practically useless!!
Sorry but i just had to get it off my chest
Just a quick question, are you referring to the split screen knuckle gesture? Because it can be easily turned off in setting under accessibility, and there isn't really any significant change in multitasking from nougat to oreo at least visually.
There is a setting that allows you to turn on a touch disable mode that disables the touchscreen when in your pocket.
As for apps not recognizing that the phone is in split screen mode well if it didn't work with nougat in split screen it wont work now. That is true for most games or apps that doesn't scale correctly in split screen.
