Typhoon/Feeler/Sonata? - HTC Typhoon

I made a thread when I started on here about my Faraday and whether it was the same as a Tornado etc: Faraday?
I think I know the answer from the couple of replies I had but need confirmation
Similarly how do I tell which "flavour"(?) of Typhoon I have?
What seperates Typhoon/Feeler/Sonata?
Is it just a different code name or is there more too it?

And other more experienced users should read previous posts on the same thread by less experienced users of the forum... He has an XDA Exec, which should be SIM Free and therefore does not need the unlock tool. And one thing that gets my personal goat is people that post things like the one you did above.. When was the last time you tried to use the search engine on this forum, it is BAD. Just entering a simple search returns all sorts of none relevant rubbish.. You go away and type unlock and see what you get back. Then try and work out what is the right thread to look at.

drpink has only 1 post, and that is the one above. His opus is not considerable.
Although it's an easy reaction to blurt out your question immediately on this board, it's more beneficial to use the past posts as a useful library of knowledge, since those trying to help do get tired of answering the same questions many times.
Now, despite your insistence, I have to say that the HTC Universal does appear to have been locked by some operators. I have an O2 Exec which wasn’t sim locked. I have no idea if O2 did ever lock it, some people said they did, others didn’t. Assuming that drpink has a reason to be asking the question, then others have provided him with the solution.
Again, whether or not drpink’s Exec is locked, dcloutier has pointed him towards the solution. Again, assuming drpink has a reason to be asking the question, you telling him that it’s not locked doesn’t help him much.
I can say that Buzz (and the team) worked exceptionally hard on making the Universal unlocker, so I can say that the Universal is lockable, locked by some operators, and now unlockable.
Personal goat or not, drpink is a new board member. As such, he may or may not have seen the very useful post headed “Please read this before posting”, but the post is helpful to new board members and experienced posters alike. I read and respond to almost every post I can, and entirely by accident am now the second highest poster on this board. It helps those who want to help if posters provide a useful topic title.
The search isn’t very good, but does work, if used correctly. It’s not google, but as ever in life, if you ask the right question, fingers crossed, you might get the right answer. In this instance, searching for:
“universal AND simunlock”
returns 4 matches.

i havent read 1 post that says the O2 Exec is locked, if there is then I'll humbly appologise so to point a newcommer at an app they don't need is wrong.
I know the Universal was locked by most operators, the only operator I believe that shipped it unlocked is O2, I may be wrong of course, but as the post title identifies O2 Exec and the Users Operator Icon is O2 it is fair to assume that its an O2 device and thus unlocked.
I have an Exec which I will be ebaying soon unless someone on here can make a reasonable offer.
AFAIK mine was locked, My oroginal one that I bought in October wasn't, but that one had an accident with a car door and the replacement O2 sent me appears to have been locked (it wouldn't work with my Orange PAYG sim). Having used Buzz's unlocker, it now works perfectly (plus there is the advantage of SuperCID!) Has anyone else found this?

lost my 8125

so what happens if i lose my wizard and i didnt have IIWPO on it. i have my IMEI. is there any way of tracking it down or not???
What is IIWPO?
Unless you set your owner information to show up on resume, setup some tracking service, or affixed your information to the housing of the device, no. There isn't a tracking system built into the HTC Wizard (or any phone to my knowledge).
Unless someone uses one of those previously mentioned methods to contact you your phone is lost. You could, of course, backtrace your steps to find it, but these are commonsense things you should be trying anyways.
Nothing anyone here can do to help you, cept maybe sell you another.
Not really, you need (AFAIK) operator level equipment to track a phone by IMEI. And frankly, given that the IMEI changer is available on this site for free, it probably won't have the same IMEI for long. Just report to your operator and buy a new one.
Sorry for the loss tho!

is there a thread used for buying and selling phones? i am looking into the Hermes now so i am in need of buying 1 of these 2 phones very soon. do i just post in the main phone topic areas because i dont see a for sale/wanted area...

New Owner Advise

New to the site so apologise if this post is in the wrong area.
I've had my Leo/HD2 since release date and am quite happy with it only one or two things i have an issue with. Is there anything that would be advisable to upgrade on my mobile? Other than the ROMS provided by HTC or should i just stick it out untill WM7 is out?
Cheers,
Healy.
If you are happy with the device the way it is then don't alter it. Remember the maxim "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
If you have specific problems you want addressing then post the specifics up here so you can get some help.
There are some excellent threads to get your teeth into, e.g. the Hints & Tips thread on here. Also do use search...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to help you find things on here.

[Q] Development Forum

Not sure if this has been answered or whatever but I figured I'd ask cause I can't figure it out. Why does the N7 have Original Development and Android Development sub-forums?
It appears that roms/kernels/tools/etc are posted in either or. Now I'm sure there was some original intention but I can't figure out what it is. Any reason why the 2 sections couldn't just be merged into "Development". If there's guidelines to these two forums, I can't figure out where they are posted if they are posted at all. Either way, it doesn't appear anyone follows them based on the content of those two sub-forums. Anyone?

There to do with two different types of developing. I've posted the official XDA introduction page below to explain it better than I ever could
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/introducing-original-development-forums-for-more-devices/
I see, I'll have to take a look at that. I'm curious if it states why only some devices have both sections while many other devices only have "Android Development"

the newest devices have both sections. its only recent that xda started separating the development sections this way.
yeah, I see that now. I think it's an interesting sentiment but it just makes the development sections sloppy. Now I have to read through 2 different forums which basically contain the same time of information. It was easy enough to just put in the op if something was "original" or not. I don't know. I get it, I just think it's a better idea on paper than actually implemented.
I started another thread on this because I found the separation confusing. Even after the explanation it still seems unnecessary. For one, if you must do this, there should be a sticky on each of the forums explaining what it means. I would not ever in a million years figured out the meaning without asking. My first thought when I saw the android/original separation was the original wasn't android, hence original. But alas it was full of android roms just like the other. Now that I know the difference the classification is slightly useful, but not enough to make me look in two forums for essentially the same type of item.
So I suppose all CM10 derived ROMs will be in the Android forum (except for CM10 itself, of course). Probably find a CM10 derived/compatible forum more useful myself.
EDIT: Apparently even after the explanation I don't understand. There are Roms based on CM code (ie ParanoidAndroid) in the original forum. So Roms based on android code are original, roms based on CM code that is based on Android is original. Exactly what isn't original now? I read the post introducing the forum separation and understand that the classifications have a lot of grey area between, but the problem is it is all grey area. Thus forcing anyone looking for roms to look in both places. No offense meant, last I will say about it, and quietly look in both forums for roms and other items.

Information for easy access

My apologies if this is a stupid suggestion.
It seems reading a lot of threads, especially about(at least my own tablet, yoga 2)that quite a few members have one way or another "broken" a normally working tablet, either by updates not taking correct or flashing the wrong files to their tablet.
Would it be an idea to place all the relevant files in one place, such as in what files will go to which model and how to identify which file to use eg-bios versions and how to tell which one a member is on (kitkat or lollipop),and what ROM to use.
I know ionioni answers a lot of questions and I have noticed quite a few repeats, would it take the strain off of him and other members if the answers were already there in one place.
Only a thought(I'll now go back to sleep)

such a place exists already (not to say about new threads opened right after a thread named 'this is how you solve your problem')
if i recall you are the guy that asked for help, then ignored the advice, sent the tab to lenovo, got it back unfixed weeks later, then asked again for help, received the same advice etc...
maybe you should start a new thread and make it the way you think is better... (a good title would be 'Lenovo - for those who don't read')
consider also that most of the 'i need help' owners are neither in the tech stuff (installing some driver is maybe the most that one can ask from) nor familiar with xda
Point taken ionioni.
When I first came here I admit I knew absolutely nothing, but I have done a lot of reading (I really mean a lot) and I am more confident about what to do and what not to do.
I thought maybe to help people like myself that start out knowing nothing, a single place of reference might help instead of asking repeated questions (like I myself did).
I did not post to offend anyone, just trying to help.
so make one, i was serious. theres also a how to root made by some androguy that is filled with good stuff
