Wifi Problems - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hey guys,
I have a problem with the wifi connection on my phone. For some reason, it cannot connect to the school network.
https://sara.morehead-st.edu/ <--- this is the link for some requirements and where I have to download the root certificate they provide.
I try to connect, and I get a dialog asking for my username and password and I put it in but then I get "Unable to connect, connection requires a certificate to connect."
Here are what it says I must have:
Requirements
* Wireless LAN adapter with current drivers capable of:
o either 802.11a, 802.11b and/or 802.11g
o WPA/WPA2 (Wireless Protected Access)
o TKIP (Temporal Key Intergrity Protocol)
o PEAP (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol)
MSChapV2 (Microsoft version 2 of Chap)
-OR-
EAP-TTLS
o IEEE 802.1x protocol
* Operating Systems:
o Windows XP
o Windows Vista
o Apple Mac OS X (10.3 or later)
o Windows Mobile 2003SE or later
o Linux or *BSD with suitable supplicant
* User Information:
o valid MSU Id
o valid Web PIN
o trusted root certificate
(see step-by-step guides)

Edit: Also, do you guys know how I can get the program to trim music files? I used to be able to do it in either Windows Media Player or Audio Manager, but I can't find the feature anymore.

Ask your IT guy to export the root certificate as a .cer file for you and copy it to your PDA, it should install if you just click on it. Then go to system>certificates and the personal tab, the new certificate should be in there.
If you tap on the name it should give details of the cert. Click ok and go to root tab and the cert should be in there.

Hey,
The root.cer file actually does fine. It says "Certificate accepted" and what-not and then I can also click on connect and get the dialog asking for my username and password. For some reason after that it just won't work. Like it just says connecting and then eventually tries another connection.
The phone does support this system and has all the right things right?
Is there any programs that help with connections or increases options of your connection?

Please guys
I am unable to browse anything when in class

GUIDE: Mac OS X and Cingular GPRS with the HTC Wizard AKU2

I have successfully connected with the Qtek 9100 AKU2 ROM (the latest stable ROM for HTC Wizard) to Cingular via Bluetooth and Mac OS X 10.4.6. Instructions:
1. Pair OSX and the phone. You might need to check the "any device" checkbox on OSX's pairing utility.
2. Verify to OSX that you do want to use that device as a modem (if you don't get that dialog, then you will need to create the Bluetooth connection yourself -- message me or leave a comment if you need instructions and I will reply to you).
3. RENAME the attached iPAQ-GSM.txt to plain iPAQ-GSM (remove the .txt extention using the Finder 'Get Info' dialog). Copy the file "iPaq-GSM" to your /Library/Modem Scripts/ folder. I modified the original script that was floating on the internet for a year now in order to work with Cingular (the original script wouldn't get a carrier signal with my phone -- it needed some small initialization changes).
4. Go to your System Preferences/Network/Bluetooth/. There enter the following:
Service Provider: Cingular
Account Name: [email protected] (case sensitive)
Password: CINGULAR1 (case sensitive)
Tel number: *99# (the *99***1# number that does work with other phones doesn't work with the HTC Wizard)
On PPP options uncheck "tcp header compression".
On the Modem tab uncheck both "enable error correction" and "wait for dial tone". From the modem drop-down menu select the iPaq-GSM modem script.
Then, click Apply and then open the "Internet Connect" application and select Bluetooth from there. Click "Connect" and you should now be connected on the net via Cingular GPRS/EDGE.
Alternatively, you can create a new networking bluetooth connection instead of using the generic bluetooth networking pref panel, but that involves a bit more work -- although I personally prefer it as I have over 8 phones and I need different networking connection names and settings for each, instead of using the default "Bluetooth" one. If you are on the same boat, IM me or leave a comment for more instructions.
Thanks
dude you just made my day. It works perfectly. Thank God for people smarter then me.
Unfortunately, in my AKU2 QTek ROM, the PPP server dies right after I disconnect from the Mac. I have to reboot the PocketPC before I can reconnect my Mac to GPRS.
If anyone knows more, please download the script above and tell us if there is a way to fix this.

hey guys,
just wondering if you've been able to sync your MDA(Wizard) to your mac. and if so, how? also, any luck updating ROMS without a PC?

How to share files/folders between pc and ppc through WiFi

Hi Friends !!!
I want some way for sharing files between pc and ppc with wifi . i was bored from connecting my phone to pc by Cable .
can anybody help ? PLZ
My phone is HTC Diamond
total commander is an easy way to access shares from a pda
but of cause the pda have to be a valid user to the share like any other
computer trying to access a shared storage
You can also install an ftp server like Mocha ftp. After you have started the ftp server, you can use your favourite ftp client on the PC to access the files on the PPC - no need to poke/type on the PPC all the time if you're in front of a PC already.
Sorry but can u explain more about this ftp network .
i dont have any experience with FTP . what apps should i have ?
in pc ? in ppc ? :|
Sorry , but can u help with mocha ftp ? how is it work ?
and one thing more that how can i find my pc and ppc 's IP ?
remote desktop? u can rdp from the ppc to the pc and enable the disk share thing.
Resco File Explorer! It's Shareware - but works very well...
You see windows-shares-NAMES, no IP!
lg....
Mocha ftp is a free download from http://www.mochasoft.dk/freeware/ftpd.htm. You can find the license key just below the download button.
Once you have started the Mocha ftp server you should set a username and password in File -> Settings and then click on the Start button. The IP Address of the PPC is displayed on the status page of Mocha ftp server.
Now you should be able to use ftp://username:[email protected]_address from your desktop, or the command line ftp client, or any other ftp client.
Hmm, I just tried ftp://username:[email protected]_address from Windows Explorer and it did not work :-(
I don't know a good Windows ftp client, because I don't use Windows normally. Maybe someone else can help there.

Start - Settings - connections - WLAN - 2nd tab you see your ip, but switch your wlan on.
Or use LANview, there you see all ip's in the network
Hi Boys .... I thank all your efforts for my problem .... TNX
I downloaded ( SmartFTP ) ftp client for windows and i tried to connect to my phone but it says :
[19:15:57] Resolving host name "169.254.26.25"
[19:15:57] Connecting to 169.254.26.25 Port: 21
[19:15:26] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
[19:15:27] Connect failed. Waiting to retry (30s)...
[19:15:27] Client closed the connection.
I Don't know what to do . HELP ME PLZZZZZZZ !!!!!!
Just to make sure: is 169.254.26.25 the same IP address you see in Mocha ftp server? And you clicked on "Start" in Mocha ftp server, so you see "State: online"?
If yes, it is possible that the Mocha ftp server is not compatible with SmartFTP (although it should work, but it did not work for me with Windows Explorer or KDE konqueror).

I Tried with almost all programs , but .................
Isn't there any other way except ftp ???
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467877 it works
I usually use hfs file server. Very simple and powerful but can not do folders. The best for files. Be anywhere with a wifi connect & download from your pc running hfs direct to your phone.
Mocha is nice too. Use Total commander's ftp abilities on your pc while mocha is running on your phone.
I will say for large files such as a 500+ mb avi, a card reader is faster.

SGS2 not publishing openvpn routes

Hi all,
I was an iphone user because with jailbreak there is a openvpn package that allow me to connect via vpn ssl to my work and check internal mail.
Now i have move to android with sgs2 and i rooted it and follow a guide (sergiodeluz.wordpress.com/software/android/openvpn-ssltls-para-android-eclair-2-1-y-froyo-2-2) and installed busybox and openvpn installer and settings.
i deploy in sd the files crt ca key y ovpn and the phone ask my for credentials and connect sucessfully to my firewall. On firewall side i checked that the phone is connected and is ok.
BUT the phone cant ping any internal ip address and in my opinion is that is not able to create new routes or the tun iface.
so my question is how can i debug the problem because now i have more knowledge in Ios than in android.
Thanks

Advice connecting to wpa2-enterprise

I attend Virginia tech and their wireless is secured with a certificate system.
On my computer I have it setup as wpa2-Enterprise AES with the authentication method as Microsoft: Smart card or other certificate. I had to install the cert. and select the CA cert.
How can I set this up on my phone? I have loaded the user cert and the CA cert (from windows) and tested the settings out but I am still unable to get it to work.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Put the cert on the phone's internal sdcard & go to Settings > Location & Security & Install from USB Storage (internal sdcard). Then connect to the wifi & options will come up. Configure with your schools settings.
I have the certs installed as mentioned in the OP. I just don't know what settings to use. PEAP, TLS, which phase 2 to use etc..

Shouldn't your school provide you with that info? Try TLS, that's what my company uses. If that doesn't work then try another.
Woops, They totally do. Can't believe I could not find that before..
Thanks

[Guide] Reverse Tether (wifi method)(download anything) (Windows and Ubuntu users)

This guide teaches you to reverse tether your Android phone via WiFi. That is, it allows you to use your Ethernet connection of PC on your Android phone. It is useful for those who do not have WiFi routers and data connection. So if you have unlimited data plan for your computer, why not share the connection with your phone?
I am not the developer of the files supplied
Requirements:-
1.Rooted Phone
2.Wifi enabled Laptop or PC
3.Root explorer or any other application which gives system access
4.File in the attachement
Procedure :-
Phone:
Download Wpa_supplicant.zip and extract "wpa_supplicant" from it, save it on your SD card.
Open Root Explorer, and grant it superuser access when asked for.
Navigate to system -> bin and long press on wpa_supplicant; Select copy, and paste the file into any folder on your SD card.
Now navigate to the file you downloaded, copy it in same way, and paste it back to system -> bin. Note, you might need to mount the system as R/W instead of R/O by pressing a button on the top just before pasting the file.
Reboot.
▬▬Ubuntu (Must work for other Linux Distros too)▬▬:
Open Network Connections
Goto Wireless tab, select add, and set the following:
SSID:
Mode: Ad hoc
Leave other things unchanged, and go to Ipv4 settings tab
Set method to Shared to other computers
Go to Wireless security tab and set Security to WEP 40/128 bit key and set key to a numeric password (or hexadecimal one).
Check the connect automatically box on top of the tabs and press Save.
Your Android phone must now detect this network, and you can establish the connection by using your security key.
▬▬Windows XP, Vista, 7▬▬
Download and Install Connectify from www . connectify.me/download-lite/
Start Connectify Hotspot by giving a name and password to your hotspot and selecting the Ethernet connection to share. Make sure the security type is WEP or Open.
Disable your firewall (Simply adding it to exceptions doesn't work for AVG at least)
Now your phone should be able to see the hotspot and establish the connection using the password set.
Known Issues :
1.Random disconnections (Very less frequency)
2.Disconnections due to screen lock / sleep on laptop
3.For me Security mode does not works
HIT THANKS IF IT WORKED
ENJOY

@avilove4u
This is not a free solution , you need a wifi Pc (90 % of computers at work don't have wifi) and is too complicate for users.
Use my method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345
It's a "One click free solution using USB cable" (no need to install other paids tools)
Not yet perfect, but still under development (I am the developper)
"This is a crap , as u cannot do much !"
Please stay on your thread next time before posting such kind of message on my thread.
No need to press "Thanks".
Ha ha lol !
Ur method has certain limitations :banghead:
Now adays every laptop and PC are wifi enabled !
I heard that connectify doesn't require root phone and we don't need that wpa_suplicant.

You heard correct (in most cases). If your device already supports ad-hoc network connections, then all you'd need to do is set up the hotspot with Connectify (or Virtual Router) and connect to it. Otherwise, this method's for you.

But some armv6 devices need that
Without wpa ad-hoc network wil nt be shown in our device
And to get access to system/bin to replace wpa ur device must be rooted na ?

I'm pretty sure you're completely wrong. You're whole post sounds like it comes from a jealous, whiny little girl. And until you can back up this statement, I'm going to assume you are either a liar or an idiot.
Useful app especially for area with bad reception and no wifi.

This is sooo useful...thank you.
I think my wifi router had broken a couple of hours ago. But now I can use ad-hoc connection from my PC.
I use Huawei Ideos S7 to connect to my windows XP sp3 wifi.
