Hi everyone,
Lately I've been having a go at some MIDI ringtones I've downloaded from the net. Dropped them in the rings directory as usual. These were working properly for while, but suddenly they stopped working. Now all I get is the system beep sound every time I play them in the Sound and Notifications settings.
Curiously, built-in MID tones that come with the phone are working fine. I didn't install anything new lately. Also, these tones are working fine after a hard-reset. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. I recall this happening with my old XDA Exec but I can't recall the fix for it. I think it was some application recently installed that caused it to fail.

I'm having a strange sound issue with my Wizard since late this afternoon.
Got called several times today, sound was working great en mic aswell. But around 4 I got called. The ringtone played as usual, but I couldn't hear the other line and there was no sound at all.
Did a softreset, but this did not help. Friend tried calling me, no luck.
So a hardreset followed, and again it did not help anything.
Now I don't hear any sounds coming from the build in speakers and my mic is not working aswell.
Tried several soft- and hardresets, tried removing the battery, checked every possible option in the phone... nothing.
Strange thing thou is that when i connect my headset, I do have sound and people do hear me. And the vibration is still working aswell.
Is it possible both my mic and build in speakers are defected? I still think it's a ROM issue since I'm using a custom T-Mobile 2.26 ROM.
...
Which brings me to problem number 2...
I lost alot of text messages the last time I upgraded my Wizard to a new ROM. How do I prefent this from happening again?
Is there a way to export of backup the messages? Or are there any program around that can do this?
cant solve your first problem, but have a suggestion for your 2nd problem... install this cab and sign up for this free service.. it will back up text, pics, contacts, voice notes, etc... its pretty cool
the site for it is http://1800message.com/ but you have to install the cab in order to sign up for the service
In between testing Karmba and Schaps ROMs on my Trinity I realized that it was not ringing any more. Income calls get through, I can see the pop un in the screen but no audible ring. Music and every other audible notification is working fine.Last night I flashed back to Karmba a7.2 elias, and it started ringing, but this morning problem was there again. Any idea? Will be that soft or hard problem?
No ring
I have the same problem. I cannot get my phone to ring. I what WM6.1 and when you try and change the ring, it will revert back to "Ring-WindowsMob" and you can not exit the screen by hitting the "OK" button or the "OK" on the screen. Any help would be great.

I just have the same problem after a couple of moths using Faman 4.0 with no mayor issues, it stopped ringing, all other sounds or music are ok.
I had the same problem, because tha wma file format was associated to another player and not to the standard player...

Happened on my Xperia
I lost the incoming rings and the ability to change ringtone when I associated wma files with mortplayer.
I unchecked it in mortplayers settings and now everything is fine again.
Thanks speederi.
guys, it might be a 3rd party software that causes the issue. Did you guys install any other softwares that relates to audio before the problem occurs?
Like myself, i installed SRS WOW (and might did something wrong to it) - sounds were ok but after i turn off the device and wake it up, sounds are gone - actually it still plays, but very2 soft and you can hardly hear (even if i set the vol on max).
Doing an uninstall doesn't help at all. Luckily i had backup (using SPB) before installation, so i just restore back those data and got everything working back as normal.
Maybe more info would help for the rest to troubleshoots?
I don't think there is a post about my issue. I apologize if I am wrong. (not good at searching in forums).
Anyway I've had my HD2 for about 6,7 months now and I have had no problems. But just recently I have noticed I am getting A LOT of missed calls. And sometimes they're very important to me.
So I decided to test it out and call myself. Now the call goes through but there is no ringtone. I looked in the settings and everything seems as it should be, I tried changing the ringtone too and a couple settings. The System volume and Ring volume are both at Max. I can recieve messages fine and there is a tone. It's just calls that are my main problem.
So I am not sure how to overcome this, please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
Had this problem yesterday. even soft reset didnt help.
And then suddenly it started work again.
Hi so I have noticed that my HTC HD2 running ICS NEXUS HD2 v.2.7 or c.2.3 Ringtones don't work. I have even tried calling my cellphone through my house phone and proved that ringtones don't work. I have tried ringtones already on the ICS build and one I've downloaded my self and ringtone still doesn't work. Ringtone volume is all the way up so not sure why the ringtone feature doesn't work. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get ringtones to work so I know when people are calling me. Thanks in advance!
Is the sound working ?
vibration prob
probo got this prob that vib is not working on sms notification in sound mode...works only on silent mode.
Hi guys,
Yesterday, I did a bunch of changes/updates to the phone, and later in the night realized the speakerphone isn't working. However, the problem is just with phone calls - the earpiece works fine, but when I switch to the speakerphone, the noise comes out for a very brief moment, and then silence. Music player and other apps play thru the speaker just fine.
So, it seems the problem is s/w related, not h/w. The things that I did are
- rooted
- installed TWRP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670
- Tether hack
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493978
- Ran CleanTOOL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451021
Checked all settings that I can think of. Speakerphone volume is set to top level. I am stumped.
Any clues? Help very much appreciated.
Currently, I am still running stock. I guess flashing another ROM or stock image might solve the problem, but don't want to go thru reinstalling and configuring apps again.
Thanks for your input.

Hi,
Can you be spesific about which changes other than install those files? Would help if I knew.
Try toggling Bluetooth on/off.

Update
I tried restarting the phone a few times, turning the volume up and down, but couldn't make it work. Today afternoon, on a call, I turned on the speakerphone, and it started working. I don't know what happened that fixed it.
Thanks for the replies.
