ok my alltel htc 6800 is disconnected.
is there any possible way or hack that i can make my phone make calls?
i would say turn on your wifi and use skype
..
exactly how do i do that
Has your SIM been blocked by your telecom provider or has the phone been blocked on the network?
If it is just a SIM block then pop another SIM in. If it has been network barred then you would need to use the Skype method above near a WIFI transmitter.
To access the WIFI you need to go through Comms Manager. Is it WM6 or WM5?
Goto Start | Settings | Connections and then to Comm Manager. It looks like a PPC device anyway, so it would no doubt be pretty similar across the HTC range

Sorry, no SIM's in the 6800. CDMA phone authenticate based on their ESN, not on a sim card.

First of all; pay your bill. I know it sounds patronizing, but if you've been disconnected for a non payment then you should fix that before it messes up your credit.
Secondly; Skype is only going to be an option if you have WiFi at home, or access to a wifi hotspot you can use.

Hey all,
As far as I understand; when you are on GPRS you can't make a call or receive because it ties up the line.
Does the same apply with EDGE? I don't think it does with 3G but my network just went EDGE over GPRS (o2) so I wondered about the 'new' technology.
Thanks for the advice
it dont apply to any of them unless thats a limit of the phone company one is connected because they have limited equipment

I always thought it did; I used to be Vodafone UK; I started on one of there GPRS phones & couldn't attempt or rec calls, I then moved up to 3G, again on Vodafone & I could run 2 sessions of them easy. It would't be to do with the 3G networks having there own network settings? for example, the 3G phone would give me the option to connect to 2G or 3G when I first turn it on or change networks.
i use GPRS it dont block anything for me
only tech which really block 100% is the old callup modem data calls
which also only operate at something like 9600Boud
GPRS Data Call
Hello, i´ve been trying to find an answer to a problem while calling through GPRS with VoIP using WM6VoIP.cab released here in xda-developers. I can make the call, it rings in the other side, but no sound for either users... There is no sound at all, like if the phone was off. On the other hand, i use the same system to call while connected to a WiFi Lan, and it works perfectly! What could be happenning to me? I use Vodafone, and i´ve also tried it with Yoigo which uses Vodafone network...
I´d really appreciate your help!

GPRS and EDGE are basically the same thing with respect to blocking voice calls.
Old GPRS implementations (can't remember which class - wikipedia is your friend) would block incoming calls - but newer implementations shouldn't. The only thing is when you have active calls, GPRS is suspended.
But I heard that the radio firmwares and equipment of the telco would make a difference.
When I had my Treo 750, I always had a GPRS connection. If there was any data activity going on, incoming calls would go to voicemail. Very irritating, especially when using Direct Push for email.
With my old Blackberry Pearl, and my new Tilt, I always have an EDGE connection, and do not have the issue.
Hope this helps...
I just SIM unlocked the Ozone (via customer service) and inserted an at&t SIM from my iPhone. Voice and SMS works fine when I set the network mode to GSM Only. Under connections a new option shows up for GPRS. This is typically where we would set the wap.cingular apn but I cannot get it to connect. Has anyone had any success? I am trying to test the switching from CDMA to GSM. But I have a feeling that it will be voice only as no apns are setup. This same sim card works in my Kaiser (att&t) with the same settings so it does not have anything to do with the iphone data plan.
I'm also using an AT&T sim card on the ozone.
Basically what i did was just to run the HTC Connection Setup tool and that did everything for me. I didn't have to do anything.
The phone connects to the internet with no problems after that.
Is there a cab file for that as I do not have it on the evo 6.5 rom.
Figured it out. I had the connection settings correct (APN) it was Comm Manager had "Data Connections" off. Now I am good to go on my testing. Sorry for the stupidity everyone.
Trinergy
I did the same that you did. I mean having the data connection off. In fact I realized that I needed to turn it on after reading your message. The thing is that in my Kaiser there was no need to turn on manually the data connection first. Actually, it was done automatically when trying to retreive data, for example: by pressing send/receive funtion in the mail.
Thanks, your confesion helped me a lot
yes
I realize that this is a year old but I'm having the same issues connecting to the internet. my ozone works for voice and sms but no mms or internet (data) any help?
I'm just running the 6.5 wm platform... no roms or hacking of any sort. just an unlocked phone and my at&t sim card.
Thanks!
I have found problems while making VOIP calls using SIP (soft phone) software on t-mobile, UK 3g network.
I got various sip client installed my HTC HD2. They all are working very well on wifi connection. But not working at all on t-mobile UK 3g network. I get registration failed error.
I found following link (https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/combi/) in which they have mentioned that
<b>
"you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *[Internet] Plus comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month."</b>
So I am wondering whether T-mobile is blocking my access to connect to my VOIP provider. Although, I can use skype mobile on t-mobile 3g network to make skype to skype calls.
Guys,
Is there anyone who is able to make VOIP call using t-mobile, uk 3g network or any of the other UK provider? If yes, then please help me to figure out what’s wrong in my settings.
Thanks.
As many people have found on T-Mobile for various data connection problems, , try this
settings/menu/connections/manage existing connections/proxy settings tab/remove the tick in the "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" box.

Already tried this, but no success. So wondering is it possible in UK to make VOIP calls using any 3g network.
Guys Please post your VOIP call experience on UK 3g providers.
You could try getting VPN to work?
It is true that indeed some providers do block certain ports/protocols to enforce their terms of use.
Vodafone NL started with this too some time ago..

I don't use it much but I've had no problems using Skype on 3UK.
I'm with T-Mobile UK and can use Skype without problem on HD2
Vodafone NL blocked some ports

Hi there,
I have also noticed that Vodafone NL has blocked some ports such as for Rapidshare and Megaupload !
Is there a work around for this?
Thanks

hi
I have tried many times with Softphone 3.0 and it does not work. My mate has swapped the sim card into his iphone and with o2 it registered without problems. it seems tmobile is blocking port 5060 for sip connecitions.
Fring somehow works but Softphone is much better, under Wi-Fi it quickly connecter my friend calling me to my Voip-in number (voipcheap). fring can fail with this.
let me know if you have found some clues how to make it work.
thanks
Hi
I am also facing the same problem. I can make jumblo calls( voip provider) if my wifi is connected.
But it does not work with my t-mobile uk 3g connection.
Please advice.

i have a tmobile hd2 and its carrier unlocked i am using it with ATT and i just recently lost all data connection to my phone. i have an unlimited data plan that was working perfect until just recently. no internet or mms not even weather!! only can use wifi. can anyone help? thanks
Have you tried
*#*#4636#*#*
dial this and then go to phone information.
Have you run the ping test?
Checked what Current Network says?
Checked to see if there is anything listed under =======DATA======= ?
Have you tried to put a friend's TMO sim in the phone to see if data is restored?
All the data you can provide could help solve your problem. As is, the problem might be a little ill defined.

If you are running Windows Mobile on your HD2 from the home screen touch onvStart Menu/Settings/Menu/All Settings/Connections/Connections. Then tiuch on the adcanced tab and then touch on Select Networks and make sure AT&T is the selected network. Also tiuch on the Task tab and select Manage Existing Connections. While on the Modem tab make sure AT&T is selected and under the Proxy Settings make sure the box beside "This network connects to the internet" is checked.
Ok if you are running Androud then go to Settings/Wirless & Networks make sure allow data connections box is checked. Also go to Networks/Vertualy private networks (VPN) and make sure your AT&T VPN is corrwct.
i have fixed the problem! i was running the tmobile 3.14 rom udate which sucked and i just flashed an energy rom and alll is working again thanks for the suggestions
Same Problem
Someone please help and know that I know little to nothing of technical terms! I have the same problem. I have a T-mobile Hd2 and had Android put on it. Right at first I had a data connection then all of a sudden-NO DATA. I'm so frustrated! I checked the setting for using the phone as data connection SEVERAL time. I can get wifi but no data otherwise. PLEASE HELP
Try:
Menu - Settings - Wireless and networks - Mobile network - Access Point Names - menu button - restore to defaults, and follow the simple instructions
This should place the latest APN from your carrier on to the phone - may need a soft reboot

Hi, I'm currently trying to get my T-Mobile HD2 to work properly on NTT docomo, a Japanese cell carrier. I moved here at the end of May and have been using a data-only SIM through bmobile, a provider that uses the same towers as NTT docomo and it worked perfectly, however I switched to a voice and data plan and now I have no data connection. Voice works fine though.
I followed nenol's steps and under =======DATA======= it says, "State: DcInactiveState disconnected with last try at 9:49PM fail because Activation Reject GGSN" What now? Ha
I bought this Nexus 7 3G used. When I put in an AT&T sim card from my Galaxy Note 2, no phone no and IMEI displayed, is it defective?
I doubt its defective, probably just not set up correctly.
Goto Settings then under Wireless & Networking click More.. then Mobile Networks and make sure Data enabled is checked. The you will have to find out AT&T's APN and enter that in Access Point Names and then choose a Network operator. In a nutshell, copy all the settings from the working Note 2's Mobile Networks settings.
Start with that and report back.

Did you get the data working correctly with the sim card ? If so.....
It doesnt need to be modified, just use a VOIP app like Groove-IP, its works in conjunction with Google Voice. I use it to make and receive calls on my wifi only N7 all the time.

I bought a T-mobile sim card $10 and another $16 for 8 days of use + tax. Inserted the sim card and then I did not know what to do with it and put it inside a drawer and today I got it, it said no services and the T-mobile cell no. was gone. Before I bought the sim card and the $2 per day charge, T-mobile CS said I will only be charged when I used their services. I did not used their services just inserted the sim card and now there is no services and no cell phone no. on the sim.
I registered with Google Voice and get a new number but I have not yet set it up how to use with free VOiP apps on Play Store. It is not as intuitive to make a call as an ordindary cell phone.
