Hi,
I can't stand the terrific sound produced by the boxed headphones and while looking for a miniUSB - 3.5mm adapter I found 2 HTC branded wired remotes that look good: W100 & E100:
E100: http://www.expansys.fr/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=150195
W100: http://www.expansys.fr/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=148543
These require a driver to be installed on the device (for controlling play/pause and call functions). On many sites, descriptions for both are identical.... and it's hard to know whether any of these actually work with the Kaiser as pointed by some users:
http://www.expansys.fr/r.aspx?i=148542&r=4930
Seems HTC is refusing any form of customer support as soon as you have a rebranded device, bad..
Can anyone confirm either the W100 or E100 works? hoping that not a matter or ROM (I'm the proud owner of a French Vodafone branded Kaiser)
Thanks
I don't own one so I can't say conclusively, but I have heard they work. The thing is, the remote buttons are only supported by HTC Audio Manager and possibly WMP, but not any other media player. Audio should work for any app, and I believe there is a built in Microphone so you can use it for calls with a normal MP3 player headphone set. The only difference between the E100 and the W100 is the color. I was considering buying one of these, but $60 is a little much for a headphone adapter. I bought a $6 headphone adapter on eBay which works great. I don't have a remote, but you can control the MP3 player from your pocket via the scroll wheel (which is super handy), so I really don't need it.
I use this and it works fine if you don't need the remote features.

(man, that's my 3rd post here today about ebay. I think I have an addiction. )

Thanks for the tip! Strangely, here in France you can get these wired RC for 27€ (everything is expensive here) which makes less than 40USD... but that's expensive enough for forcing me to check it's actually compatible.
As for the color, it sounds logical but by typing "wired remote" on www.expansys.com I found out tenths of E100 and W100 with no apparent correlation between reference and color. HTC also references each W100 in black and white colors.... strange!
I can't get mine to work. Says I have the latest drivers. though i don't see a latest driver for specifically the tytn II.
Finally got mine - works great with both windows media player and HTC media player, there's maybe a driver / ROM issue. I have a Vodafone branded device (French SFR v1615). I did'nt do anything, just plugged it and it works.
in a functionality both are same but E-100 comes with a pair of head phones set and W-100 is only a remote control
Mine works now, it was just a polaris based rom that i was using that caused it to not work.

How did you get it to work? Changing the ROM to something else? If so, which did you change it to?
I'm using Dutty's V4 which is really great, but the wired remote doesn't work at all. Anyone come up with a solution as yet?
No, the v4 is the v4 beta polaris based rom. Will not work.
With his unreleased final v4s, he is going to be using v3 + beta v4 tweaks, so that means no more polaris based rom.
He should be making a beta for it at some point which I will be testing out.
It also does not work with WMP on q-mobiles 1.2, but it works with audio manager if you install it.
I've tried a few roms. It works with..
schapps 4.31 and his windows mobile 6.1 one.
Duttys v3 final (good rom)
Duttys v2 roms
q-mobile 1.2 audio manager music control buttons and phone buttons, but no WMP music control buttons
Panosha (sp?) rom
Havnt tried alex roms yet so don't know about those. WIll try that today sometime, and hopefully a new dutty v4b
I have it aswell it work. Both with the HTC media player and WMP. The red and green phone buttons work aswell. Haven't tried mute. Only thing is my media player is Mortplayer and the remote doesn't support it.
Does anyone have the e100

for the att tilt where it actualy works and does it work (remote control) for anyone using pocket player. Sorry for the huge pic but it looks real nice.
To summarize what was posted before in this thread:
- only the volume buttoms work with other players (like pocket player)
- some ROMs have problems
I have just taken delivery of a dopod W100 and it works brilliantly. Bye Bye Ipod nano!
I am talking about the E100 designed specifically for the ATT tilt( supposedly). http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=157661 comment says it doesnt work with tytn II. it is about $3 more expensive than the E100 for the Tytn II but the tilt is different from the Tytn II. Has anyone tried this product on the tilt??
The comment says it doesn't work with TyTN I, not TyTN II, if you are referring to this one.
"Does not work with TyTN I
* It is not recognized by the device. Installation of the latest driver does not help."
it's not specifically designed for the tilt, that is just their website saying that.
There is the w100 and the e100, plain and simple. e100 comes with crappy HTC headphones, the w100 does not.
Device is the same, OS system is the same on tilt and tytn II, it's all the same crap!
I am sure it works on a TyTN I anyways, device is not that old and you just need to do the right drivers (and that's not easy, driver cd sucks for this thing).
Anyways, I use it on my polaris.
Hi all,
I have x2 TyTn ii's... the w100 remote works on one device and not on the other. Does anyone know what the driver is called or what files are needed for the remote? My thinking is if I can find them in the device that works with the remote I can copy & paste.
I am using same Rom & Radio on both devices. I suspect the problem was caused by using the "home plugin uninstaller" The thing is that I have reflashed the suspect device and no joy... tried alternative radios and no joy...
I HAVE DISCOVERED ON THE SUSPECT DEVICE THAT AFTER I POWER UP IF I PLUG IN THE REMOTE IT STARTS THE AUDIO PLAYER AND WORKS PERFECTLY - IF I CLOSE THE APPLICATION ON THE SUSPECT DEVICE THE REMOTE FAILS TO WORK FROM THAT POINT ON...
Would welcome suggestions...
Thanks...

I've seen a number of threads that seem to deal with the subject of "headphones" and "headsets" and finding an all-in-one solution, but I couldn't seem to find one where the solution allowed a user to use any 3rd party stereo headphones and answer the phone without switching to a mic enabled headset (like using this adapter with two sets plugged in, one headset and one stereo headphone: http://www.expansys-usa.com/zoompic.asp?type=item&code=104840

Or does anyone know of a stereo headset that is of decent quality for listening to hi-fidelity music (I don't own a pair of the default but I can only presume the quality is adequate but not great, and the buds don't look that comfortable for long term music listening):
http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=108738
the best option is to take the standard xdaII headset and about 4cm after the mic/control bit between it and the headphones , cut and fit a a normal headphone socket, this allows you to use any headphones and still have full headset functions ,
thanks
ian
Well that's definitely an option... (sure wouldn't want to do that to an expense pair of headphones, but it is an option).
It's hard to believe that in this age of convergence there isn't a decent headset that's designed for audio playback too.
Thanks for the idea, indeed I think I saw a number of "slice and splice" comments in some of the other threads, I just wouldn't want to find myself ruining a good pair of headphones trying to expose the thin wires and join them back up. I guess I'll need to stop thinking of it as an MP3 player and wait until I get the Archos AV420! ;-)
You're quite right with regard to the headphones not being very comfortable and I too was searching for a solution to this very problem until I turned the problem on it's head and came up with another solution...
I popped into my local Maplin's shop and bought a pair of foam earphone pads, put them over the supplied earphones and they are infinitely more comfortable and also stay in place. The audio reproduction on them is actually quite good.
Give that a try.
I decided to replace the ear phones and connect my Sonys to the stock switch/mic dongle.
Having removed the old ones successfuly and cut up my fantastic Sony ear buds I can't get it to solder as the wires are varnished. I have tried all sorts of ways to remove the varnish without success - including nail varnish remover.
Any ideas anyone?
Fire!!!
I was able to remove the varnish by briefly putting a flame to it. Then gently scraping the filamints with my finger nails.
Good luck.
Josh
Thanks, I tried that with limited success.
I'll give it another go.
hmm, maybe I've been overlooking an obvious solution (or am I missing something?), but wouldn't a headphone/mic combo like this: http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=574&Itemid=0
..in conjunction with the adapter I listed earlier ( http://www.expansys-usa.com/zoompic.asp?type=item&code=104840),
..do what I'm looking for? It sure seems like it is the answer, and I now realize there are a LOT of these headphone/mic combos out there at all different price levels! I'm going to order the adapter and maybe one of the Altec Lansing sets, I'll let you all know how it goes.
hi all, I use these
Bluetooth headset their true stereo and can play many types of music formats + voice commands for dialling + i can stream music to them + use them to chat while using Microsoft portrait, But they are not cheap, i first bought them to use with my spv c200 did a good job on them having same good luck on my M1000. here,s a link to the site where i got them
http://www.sonorix.com/~tven/eng/product/product_bap.php
Do these work with xda 2 for mp3 and voice dialling?
yes they do m8 i use them myself, on my M1000 ( which is the same as the xda2) mp3 sound brill on them I have a Bang&Olufsen 5.1 surround system ( which cost me £2.799 ) in my home here, and these headset come very close to completing with them. these headset are the creame da la creame of all headsets. Highly recomended worth every penny i paid for them which was about $263.00 dollors + import taxes which was £57 bucks
Here's a thread that has some additional info and reviews regarding adapters and the like, perhaps this info could be placed elsewhere in the forum, but this seemed relevant to this thread:

Hello.. Anyone in here who has managed to find a solution to this problem?
The stock headset is very anoying IMO (The ones that came with the Qtek S200 package).
Therefore I bought a small microjack(male)-to-minijack(famle) adapter.
But when I tried to use this together with my old headphones (which use minijack) I only got sound in my left side.
Im guesing that it has to do with the fact that there is both R,L and Mic channels in the microjack port, and that they are placed in an order, in which the normal R,L microjack, will not connect to the R and L in the port!
Is this correct? And what to do about it?
Thanks
Reef, there are lots of problems with using these adapters, the connection is not steady.
It is suggested to use an adapter that has a wire between the input and output.
I use one without any problems and I get sound in bothe L and R. I am using Radio Shack adapter.

2) I mod the XDAiis ones, strangely, it works with my Cassette adapter full stereo. When I use my earphones, it only has right side.

I have several different adapters. Some of them don't make a good connection and I only get one channel (off and on). I ordered this one to use with my navigation system in the car...it has a rock solid connection and a mic! I might add that they sell Martin Fields screen protectors too. http://doml.com/productdec.asp?pid=2149&model=818p&modeln=i-Mate JAMin

I'm guessing Reef has the compact ones, without a wire between the male and female.

Exactly.. But the thing is that it works perfectly when i pull i 1mm out and bend it a bit to the left.. Then there is sound in both channals..
I also bought a microjack male with no wires on it, so I gues i can try to make my own.. Just need some wire, some tools and a female minijack..
But did anyone of you know which band is the mic band? The top, middle or bottom? Cause I don't wanna waste any more money..
This is the one I have:

Headset
I smashed the headset that came with my 818 Pro in a car door and ruined it. I have been trying to find a replacement that is a better design (that stays on when I run), but have had no luck. I thought I had it in the Jabra C220s. This is a horribly designed product. They actually went out of their way to make it so that it will only play in the left ear when plugged into the PPC / phone. If you use the included adapter it works in stereo, but then the plug is 3.5 mm.
Has anybody found a decent pair of headphones with the microphone to work with the prophet? I imagine any 2.5 mm jacked PPC / Smartphone would be the same.
Thank you.
Tom

Dopod makes a nice pair of earbuds made to work with all HTC devices and includes a mic. Sold separately, of course.
Perhaps you can find them where you got your 818pro?
The ideal solution is to dismantle the mic piece (where there's the mic and the headphone wires coming out), unsolder the stock headphones and solder a pair of headphones of your choice. There's a lot of info about this in the Magician forum.
The second option, as Acer mentioned, would be to use the ones with the wire between the 2.5mm male and the 3.5mm female.
i use one without wire and there are no problem at all
I use an adaptor similar to stories, and it works great.
have to say tho, the socket in the Prophet is a bit loose. No big deal tho.
yup...the headset port @ HTC Prophet is a _bit_ loose, so you've got a chance to unplug by accident...
anyway, i also use a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter, and connected into Senheiser PX100. it's sound good!!!
found a bluetooth car stereo (Sony MEX-BT2500)
basically it can stream music and take calls over the car speakers from your vario.
i also use tomtom and wanted to know how many bluetooth connections the vario can handle at once.
thanks
At least two. As I can use my BT gps for TomTom & use a BT earpiece for making a call at the same time. I even don't notice a hickup in the gps connection after I disconnect the call, which always happened with my Magician.
Cheers, M

I have the MEX-BT5000 It can stream A2DP and at the same time be used for calls without any problems.
You ROM might not have the optimum stuff for A2DP as this has been known to be buggy as hell. What ROM are you running?
rom version = 1.21.110.3
You would benefit from updating to one of the WM6 cooked ROMs, the A2DP drivers and the BT stack ahs vastly improved since the ROM versions shipped in the devices.
You may find that A2DP skips and is crackly, also that the device might be a bit unstable (if you stick with the ROM you are currently using)
Can I have 2 sets of bluetooth headphones for me and my m8 to listen to music via the a2dp stream at the same time ?
I live in the country, and walk lots.. would be cool to have synced mp3's.
I dont know, but i doubt it. Thats alot of data streaming at once from such a device.
Only thing to do is give it a try.
I dont have any bluetooth headsets yet. would kinda be a expensive test.
I dont 100% understand how the bluetooth pairing system works, but I roughly get it.
Is there maybe a way to have headsets use the same channel/pairing id. the headsets dont need to send any info back, I just wish to recieve the music. which is allready being broadcast, it doesnt need to be broacast 2 times.
Maybe there are special headphones which can share the same id's ?
I dont know the technical terms to describe what I'm after. multiplexing? multistreaming? that didnt throw up any search answears..
The pairing procedure is indeed a 2 way process unfortunatly, thats how the Hermes knows when to quit piping sound over the speaker and microphone in the device.

Hello friends.
The idea of this thread is to create a list of gadgets that one way or another are compatible with our toddler and things you can do because of this compatibility.
I do not mean phone accessories, but devices such as TVs, handsfree, audio equipment, etc..
The aim is not only that we know what we can do with them at home, but this list will serve also for those who plan to buy a pileup for your home, and help them where possible to choose one model or another junk XD
You can bring your experience and as my time permits I will add it to the first post.
Please, put all you can do with the S3. For example, hands free, some let you play music from mobile, some not. Or the TV, if you do Wifi or cable.
Thanks :good:

Also, all the buttons (play/pause, skip next/before, volume up and down) work with everything I've tried (poweramp, diceplayer, bad all the stock media players)

1. Bluetrek Carbon with Bluetooth 3.0 Headset - Once paired works, then upon disconnect, does not want to reconnect again. Sometimes will connect, most of the times wont. Need to unpair and repair for each use
2. Pioneer AVIC-X910BT Car Radio (unknown BT version) - Same as above.

Alpine ICS-X8 App Link Station which uses MirrorLink technology with the Galaxy S3 is one to add.
Video here is quite old but is only one I can find which shows a Samsung phone rather than a Nokia. They mention the GS3 mirrorlink support is there when the phone is released.

Demo with Nokia :

MirrorLink allows you to mirror your phones screen on the 7" Alpine dashboard unit in your car and control it via the touch screen and letting you run Sat Nav software for example from your phone. Audio is transmitted over car speakers and the GPS passthrough antenna from Alpine is used by the phone.
Just bought one of these, just need the GS3 now but waiting on 64GB model
I have a px5 based unit I bought from Secaine running android 8.0 along with a Zlink USB carplay dongle. I have had lots of issues with the carplay dongle, as far as I know I have the latest firmware and apk installed for it (4.5.3 I think? I got it from the zjinnova site before they changed it up). Are there newer updates for it than this? If there are I can't find them ...
I've had issues with it cutting out or just not detecting either the zbox or the phone. At some point I learned that I probably needed more USB power so I installed a powered hub and that helped things for a while but the issues seem to be back and sometimes even worse than before. Still have issues with it cutting out (sometimes I have to do a hard reboot of the px5 unit before it will detect again). I don't have issues with any other USB devices I try to use with the hub (like a USB key with a bunch of media on it) so I don't think it's the hub .. given that I've had similar issues with and without the hub it's probably something else. I also have audio dropouts/glitches happen quite a lot, audio breaking up if maps is trying to do audio the same time as an audiobook or music, etc.
I also can't do calls with it because the echo cancellation doesn't seem to work (if I try and change settings it just doesn't stick, ever) and people tell me that the echo is really really bad if I try and do the calls through carplay. I even installed an external mic which didn't help all that much. The calls work ok if I do them through the head unit directly over bluetooth ...
I spend a ton of time in my car commuting (up to 4 hours per day) so I really want to find the most reliable solution. Is there a USB Carplay dongle that's better supported / more reliable? Or is there an update I can do with this one that will make it more reliable?
No one has anything for this one?
I decided to pick up a Pumpkin one, it seems like AutoPlay box seems to be getting some updates and has some activ development going on with it so hoping it's going to work out better for me than the zbox has.
Any insights would be appreciated. I've read through the 32 pages of thread but not seen anyone talk much about the different choices out there currently.
So today the zLink / zBox dongle pretty much gave up. It cut out about 3 times in 15 minutes and the last time it just didn't come back. Running a USB thumb drive on the same hub has zero issues so I'm guessing it's probably not my px5 or USB hub but indeed the zBox. Glad I ordered a Pumpkin AutoPlay box based one that's in transit.
I guess I'm just talking to myself here given that no one has replied! LOL
ive got a zbox version using the 4.1.1 apk (not sure which firmware, was the joying branded model and using the firmware it shipped with) and other than the same echo in calls, its been reliable.
Hmm that's good to know. The one I got came with really old firmware and software and ran very very poorly when I first got it. I think my firmware is 4.1 or 4.2 so not sure if downgrading would be an option for me, but given it's recent performance (which was worse than normal) I think there might be actual hardware issues going on with mine.
Got my AutoPlay based unit today and in some quick testing it already feels a lot more stable than the zBox one. And it's nice to see that it has an update mechanism and seems to be still being worked on ... the zbox feels like it was abandoned at some point a while back. Tested a couple of phone calls and people on the other end said it sounded great and had no echo.
The only thing I ran into is that I can't seem to drag on a timeline bar to move ahead or back. Not the end of the world and I would happily trade that for something stable any day. Had a tiny bit of glitchy audio happen when having maps running in 3D and music and map voice at the same time, but again also not the end of the world.
So far so good, will see how things work out next week while back on the big commutes.

I have had the same issue with Zbox as you and updated to the newest firmware today and still no luck. I'm looking into one called Carlinkit on Amazon. Seems to have the best reviews. I also have a Sceicane running Android 6.0. I wonder if it's the HU that Sceicane sells. We'll see I guess.
Do any of you have any updates or thoughts on which dongle is the current best option? I see the carlinkit one on Amazon, has anyone tried that one?
I have the carlinkit with zbox and its stinks, bad. I want another one but which

I've the same issue with my zBox dongle. It's very unstable and often not detecting my iPhone. Using waze destroys the music playback every time when the voice starts to speak.
So those AutoKit dongles seem to be more stable and reliable? Is every of those dongles updatable?

Can you recommend one from a specific brand?
I found a black one (https://www.ebay.de/itm/USB-Dongle-...050745?hash=item364eaace39:g:WcIAAOSwwrFc95v1) but I don´t know if that´s the right one
This wont really be of much help to those who already have a headunit, but just wanted to chime in and say that the built in Z-link on my Joying Intel 9853i unit has worked flawlessly.

There seems to be two standards. The black that you posted follows a different standard from mine.
I tried to get the URL where I bought it (AliExpress) but the product is not sold anymore.
However I managed to find one that uses the same software:

My model is called: CPC200-CMAP and it is white, but I think that the colour doesn't matter much. I know in the past there was one dongle that supported only Carplay and the other supported AndroidAuto and Carplay.
Nowadays there is also another dongle that allows to connect Carplay via Wireless that is using the same software as I do (AutoKit is called). I know that because I saw a video somewhere and the latest firmware that I got had that option, however I think that my hardware is not prepared for that, and anyway I use Android Auto.
I can find that one that allows wireless carplay based on AutoKit if you are interested.

This is one of them, with wireless carplay.

I am using the WCPAA USB adapter from Avin and works great for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on my PX5 Android head unit . The CarPlay can be USB or wireless connection but the Android Auto still requires a USB connection.

I ordered a Wireless CarPlay dongle from Aliexpress, the brand is Carlinkit, the pictures show a model number as "CPC200 AutoKit", there specs say "CCPMW". The price was a very reasonable £48 with free delivery.

Im expecting it to arrive some time this week. I will report back with how I get on with it.
Received it today, seems to work well, connects reasonably quickly. Music plays well. Haven’t tried navigation yet.

Cool that sounds great. I think I gonna buy one of those. If Wireless is to slow then the USB slot can be used for wired airplay, right?

Yeah it has a USB port and as far as I'm aware you can use a wired connection, Im going to try and test out different distances to the unit to see if that makes a difference. Ive not noticed any problems yet but ive only used it a few times.
I tested it with iOS 13 public beta today. There was a time that the music broke up but later it played smooth again. I had a few issues with Siri and messages but I think that’s down to the beta software.

I really like this new dashboard view, the map scrolls when you travel like a propper sat nav.
Light Mode
Dark Mode
I have it on auto
Edit - Audio still seems to break up more often
Edit - Audio still breaking up with iOS 13 public beta 3, however it's smooth if using USB instead.
