found a bluetooth car stereo (Sony MEX-BT2500)
basically it can stream music and take calls over the car speakers from your vario.
i also use tomtom and wanted to know how many bluetooth connections the vario can handle at once.
thanks
At least two. As I can use my BT gps for TomTom & use a BT earpiece for making a call at the same time. I even don't notice a hickup in the gps connection after I disconnect the call, which always happened with my Magician.
Cheers, M
3 bluetooth connections

I have the MEX-BT5000 It can stream A2DP and at the same time be used for calls without any problems.
You ROM might not have the optimum stuff for A2DP as this has been known to be buggy as hell. What ROM are you running?
rom version = 1.21.110.3
You would benefit from updating to one of the WM6 cooked ROMs, the A2DP drivers and the BT stack ahs vastly improved since the ROM versions shipped in the devices.
You may find that A2DP skips and is crackly, also that the device might be a bit unstable (if you stick with the ROM you are currently using)
Can I have 2 sets of bluetooth headphones for me and my m8 to listen to music via the a2dp stream at the same time ?
I live in the country, and walk lots.. would be cool to have synced mp3's.
I dont know, but i doubt it. Thats alot of data streaming at once from such a device.
Only thing to do is give it a try.
I dont have any bluetooth headsets yet. would kinda be a expensive test.
I dont 100% understand how the bluetooth pairing system works, but I roughly get it.
Is there maybe a way to have headsets use the same channel/pairing id. the headsets dont need to send any info back, I just wish to recieve the music. which is allready being broadcast, it doesnt need to be broacast 2 times.
Maybe there are special headphones which can share the same id's ?
I dont know the technical terms to describe what I'm after. multiplexing? multistreaming? that didnt throw up any search answears..
The pairing procedure is indeed a 2 way process unfortunatly, thats how the Hermes knows when to quit piping sound over the speaker and microphone in the device.

any rom in particular you can suggest ? im actually looking to upgrade to WM6
so need to do a bit of research before i attempt it.
Thanks
ANY of the ones mentioned in my guide thread will do the job (see my sig).
Try one of them out and see what you think, once HardSPL is on your VarioII you can flash away as you like.
do i still have to get hold of windows mobile 6 as well as loading up these roms (newibe question i know)

Hello
I have some Problems with my XDAII and the Nokia Car-Kit Bluetooth.
I become no connect with the Device.
Have elsawhere a Answer wy??
Greatings to all
Matrix
If you have the Nokia Carkit 112 like me, it won't work.
The carkit only supports the handsfree profile, the XDA II supports the headset profile only.
There are rumours that we *may* get a handsfree update in a future release of the firmware or possible in SP1 for Windows Mobile 2003, but I have not see anything conclusive.

Michael
@matrix
then you should try this: http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/
servus ize|man
I downloaded the latest version and will try it out on my Nokai 112 kit as soon as I get to my car friday.
Will post results.

I have tested this with my Nokia CK-1W carkit and XDA II, It does not quite work as yet, At the moment my phone bonds and communicates to the carkit but will not force the audio through the carkit, I have tested the carkit with a working Nokia phone and it works no problems.
I am attempting to assist Tobias in debugging this, he will post a debug version on Friday, I will run the tests that I have run with the current version and send him the logs.
Hopefully he will be able to help fix the issues. He has certainly been very helpful so far.
I had the same problems with the Nokia CK-1W. In the end I got that swaped with an Ericsson HCB-30 which works flawlessly. I think it works with the Ericsson unit as it has 'headset' profiles which the XDA II supports.
I've posted under in the 'Stocking it Up' forum but here are some pics:

I have tested the Bluetooth Tools but this software works not really yet.
I have more Problems after the update.
I am waiting for WM 2003 SP1
Thanks for all answers.

No luck here either with the Nokia Carkit.
I don't even get the page asking which profile I want to use after bounding to the carkit and confirming the name.
I do get a 'click' when bounding, but on sign on any further communications with the phone.
Also the headset enablement icon has gone from the today options.

HCB-30 Not auto connecting after ignition switched back on.
Hello,I recently have bought the HCB-30 also after having a disastrous time with the Nokia CK-1W.
I have had it working fine when I create a new bond however when I switch off the ignition and lose power to the device It will not auto connect when I switch the ignition back on.
Is there something that I am doing wrong? am I being impatatient?
Can you advise if when you start your ignition your XDA II connects without you doing anything?
Cheers
Neil.
I've seen a number of threads that seem to deal with the subject of "headphones" and "headsets" and finding an all-in-one solution, but I couldn't seem to find one where the solution allowed a user to use any 3rd party stereo headphones and answer the phone without switching to a mic enabled headset (like using this adapter with two sets plugged in, one headset and one stereo headphone: http://www.expansys-usa.com/zoompic.asp?type=item&code=104840

Or does anyone know of a stereo headset that is of decent quality for listening to hi-fidelity music (I don't own a pair of the default but I can only presume the quality is adequate but not great, and the buds don't look that comfortable for long term music listening):
http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=108738
the best option is to take the standard xdaII headset and about 4cm after the mic/control bit between it and the headphones , cut and fit a a normal headphone socket, this allows you to use any headphones and still have full headset functions ,
thanks
ian
Well that's definitely an option... (sure wouldn't want to do that to an expense pair of headphones, but it is an option).
It's hard to believe that in this age of convergence there isn't a decent headset that's designed for audio playback too.
Thanks for the idea, indeed I think I saw a number of "slice and splice" comments in some of the other threads, I just wouldn't want to find myself ruining a good pair of headphones trying to expose the thin wires and join them back up. I guess I'll need to stop thinking of it as an MP3 player and wait until I get the Archos AV420! ;-)
You're quite right with regard to the headphones not being very comfortable and I too was searching for a solution to this very problem until I turned the problem on it's head and came up with another solution...
I popped into my local Maplin's shop and bought a pair of foam earphone pads, put them over the supplied earphones and they are infinitely more comfortable and also stay in place. The audio reproduction on them is actually quite good.
Give that a try.
I decided to replace the ear phones and connect my Sonys to the stock switch/mic dongle.
Having removed the old ones successfuly and cut up my fantastic Sony ear buds I can't get it to solder as the wires are varnished. I have tried all sorts of ways to remove the varnish without success - including nail varnish remover.
Any ideas anyone?
Fire!!!
I was able to remove the varnish by briefly putting a flame to it. Then gently scraping the filamints with my finger nails.
Good luck.
Josh
Thanks, I tried that with limited success.
I'll give it another go.
hmm, maybe I've been overlooking an obvious solution (or am I missing something?), but wouldn't a headphone/mic combo like this: http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=574&Itemid=0
..in conjunction with the adapter I listed earlier ( http://www.expansys-usa.com/zoompic.asp?type=item&code=104840),
..do what I'm looking for? It sure seems like it is the answer, and I now realize there are a LOT of these headphone/mic combos out there at all different price levels! I'm going to order the adapter and maybe one of the Altec Lansing sets, I'll let you all know how it goes.
hi all, I use these
Bluetooth headset their true stereo and can play many types of music formats + voice commands for dialling + i can stream music to them + use them to chat while using Microsoft portrait, But they are not cheap, i first bought them to use with my spv c200 did a good job on them having same good luck on my M1000. here,s a link to the site where i got them
http://www.sonorix.com/~tven/eng/product/product_bap.php
Do these work with xda 2 for mp3 and voice dialling?
yes they do m8 i use them myself, on my M1000 ( which is the same as the xda2) mp3 sound brill on them I have a Bang&Olufsen 5.1 surround system ( which cost me £2.799 ) in my home here, and these headset come very close to completing with them. these headset are the creame da la creame of all headsets. Highly recomended worth every penny i paid for them which was about $263.00 dollors + import taxes which was £57 bucks
Here's a thread that has some additional info and reviews regarding adapters and the like, perhaps this info could be placed elsewhere in the forum, but this seemed relevant to this thread:

With such complexities of being a world phone and pocket pc and all... there's no way to use these as a standard FM radio? Are there hacks available for this or is it impossible given the Hermes/TyTN hardware?
I'd guess it would need some tuner hardware.
I know its not what you want, but Resco Radio has a bunch of internet stations to listen too. Maybe you could look if the stations you are interested in have live streaming and use that link in Resco Radio? Not exactly sure but it may work...

Really? I have a laptop and it can't pick up radio. Thought that was quite normal for a device which doesn't have an FM receiver built in....
I've done a little search and I found this:
http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtom/template/XdaAtomApplications.vm/n/exclusive
Since O2 can have "exclusive applications" for a pocketpc-phone like the XDA atom (which does NOT have an FM tuner hardware inside), does anybody know how we can "get hold" of something like this for our Hermes?

Our built-in radio must be able to pick up FM radio frequencies... I think it's just a hack that we need to find.
The Hermes does not have an FM receiver. Do a search and you'll find many people have asked the same question and gotten the same answer. Sorry to disappoint you.

Sorry to rain on your parade but the documentation I've been able to find about the Atom says that it does contain FM radio hardware.
It _has_ to. It wouldn't work otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I wish I could turn my hermes into a HTC Kaiser with added FM Radio just by installing some bit of software and holding down certain keys while resetting it but the real world doesn't work that way. There's a reason why 'transformers' is fiction and not fact and there's a reason why you can't actually send your children to Hogwarts to learn how to be magicians.

i dunno about that a transformer blew up in NY yesterday LMAO
I stand corrected about the XDA atom specs.... The page I initially saw with the atom's specs, didnt mention it... I then found another one saying it has FM Radio capabilities... Oh well.....
I don't know much about radios and frequencies (clearly). I just figured that if the phone is able to pick up these GSM/Edge/UTMS... etc.. frequencies/spectrums then perhaps there's an off chance it could pick up an FM frequency which I'd imagine is pretty standard. Ah well.
The TyTn can pick up close range radio signals for example when you use bluetooth. However it has no tuner to select broadcast radio frequencies. In addition it has no aerial suitable for effectively picking up radio stations. Many phones that have FM radio built in, only work when you plug in the headphones. This is because the headphone cable acts as the aerial. The TyTn does not have it's circuitry set up to use the headphone cable as an aerial.
So even if you could somehow use software to tune signals using the bluetooth aerial, this aerial is not nearly big enough to pick up FM radio stations. So, no suitable software and inadequate hardware to make it work. Streaming radio is the only option.

Hi everyone, I rooted my x10 the week it was rooted and since that time have always had an issue with my alpine w505 head unit and the blue-tooth.
It works but i have to turn the volume all the way up on the car audio to just barley hear anyone.
I was not to concerned and figured it was just a glitch and was waiting for android 2.1. well with the delay and pending release of the android update I decided to update my x10 from 016 to 026. I did a clean install and thought my blue-tooth issue would be gone, well it it the same.
The alpine unit works fine with my wives nokia, but my x10 is horrible.
I can tell you that it worked great with the default rogers rom. which makes me believe that it's an issue with the packaged files I'm using.
I used the rom from post 4 in the android development thread. as i was going to try and just update. but I did have an issue and decided to do a clean upgrade.
Has anyone else had an issue with a car blue-tooth device? or does anyone have the alpine w505?
Thanks
You are lucky the bluetooth works at all.........................................
The prime reason for me wanting 2.1 is so that the SE flagship experia can do the things my 2007 K800i does..........................................................
ok is everyone having issue's with bluetooth and android 1.6? or is this a x10 issue?
I have a parrot CK3100 and everything works fine, i have to set the volume half the way because it sounds too loud.

I have my xperia on xxxxx24 working in a fashion with a nokia kit. In the menu, you have an option to keep the lights on for development purpose. Say yes to this. Re boot phone, switch on Bluetooth, connect, stick in car charger and it doesn't disconnect while lights are on cos x10 don't sleep.....

I can confirm the X10i works flawlesly on the Bury C9060 too, and syncs phone book, also A2DP music works as it should, it never loses sync and bluetooth is available after approx 5 secs of starting the car.
You can also change tracks from the C9060 and voice dial is imo better than the parrot, I checked every device before going for the C9060.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I can't sync my phonebook on my jvc unit or look at the name of songs that are playing off my phone when I use bluetooth streaming. It works fine with the bold and iphone though

Here i am
This is how the Agenda looks when you sync a phone that it isn't able to transfer your contacts(my old LG viewty for example):
X10i linked with parrot, notice the icon located at the low right side, that means it is transfering your contacts:
This is how Agenda looks now:
Let's see if it works...
Yep, working
You can check Exif data to view time/date of the pics and the camera(x10i ), it links 5 seconds after i turn on the car, never disconnects, however i can't do AD2P since parrot CK3100 can't support it
OP-- this sounds stupid but it happened to me so check. The media volume for bluetooth is different from the media volume coming out of the speaker/headphones. Try turning up the volume on the phone.
Hello,
I just bought a Defy a month ago and its awesome.
Does the Nokia BH-214 works on Defy ? In eBay India there are many OEM version of BH-214 are there for about $16.
Any one using it on Defy ?
Also recommend me other bluetooth stereo headsets. As i ride a lot i need the earplugs to be inside my helmet.
is there any other way (except power amp) to control music through the normal headset which came with Defy ?
Thank you,
Hari
I've tried an original Nokia BH-214 and it works. It's not as good as directly to headphones (tested with some good IEMs). But it works and it's pretty decent.
Have a nice day!

The price is correct... about 45€ in many shops like Virgin or Fnac.
The sound is more than correct, the mic is a little misplaced (can't call with it in the train because of the ambiant noise, but i can in the street), it has buttons to play, stop, answer call, FWD, BCK, VOL+ and VOL- !
This headset is aslo water-resistant (not waterproof !).
So, ... I LOVE BH-505 !
PS : Any bluetooth headset normally is compatible with ... any recent and decent phone... because they all use A2DP (for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and those with remote controls like BH-505 also use AVRCP (for Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), with is a standard.
Wikipedia :
Operating Systems supported
Android:
Android version 1.6 (Donut) and all subsequent versions support A2DP.
