Animated gif with Sound - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Can we have gif file with sound that can be added to today Plugin?

GIF files are image files and image files alone, I'm afraid. There's simply no way that I know of to embed audio in one. However, one could embed audio into a Flash file, which, of course, can be animated. Don't know if there's an easy way to place a Flash file on the Today screen, however.

That's possible yes:
HTC FAQ Page
Simple answer: Add a image file (in JPeG) to the folder you store the album in and call the file folder.jpg (you may hide it if you want).
One thing: You need to re-add the files to the player, meaning all files you have in your current playlist (on the TF3D page) will not get updated untill you reselect them.

no it doesn't work. at least for me.
look what i am doing:
1. i set my usb connection as disk drive
2. i load to my winamp the songs from album Crises - Mike Oldfield and with winamp i download the artwork from internet named "Mike Oldfield-Crises.jpg"
3. i connect my hd to my laptop and copy into folder Music from my sdcard the folder crises. inside this folder i have the album "Crises - Mike Oldfield" and the "Mike Oldfield-Crises.jpg"
4. on my sdcard i rename "Mike Oldfield-Crises.jpg" artwork as "crises.jpg"
5. set my usb connection asa activesync
6. start tf3d music player and wait until it finds the new album
7. after a while it finds it but the artwork is not displayed
please tell me what am i doing wrong!
thank you!
You have to name the artwork folder.jpg
Not the name of the folder, not the name of the artist. It actually has to be called:
folder.jpg
That's f-o-l-d-e-r-.jpg
Weird i know but it does work.
meanwhile i figured out myself.
but thank you anyway!
Keep in mind that TF3D player doesn't use the file folder.jpg to display the image. It uses a file named hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg. If it's not present but there is a file named folder.jpg, TF3D player will create a file hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg from it.
Therefore you can create your AlbumArt directly under the name hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg.
(however, WMP still uses folder.jpg, therefore I've kept both).
But why don't use mp3 artwork tag to display album artwork ?
Also eventhough you have hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg in that folder, TF3D music player sometime never display the albumart.
TF3D music player suck.
Still like itunes that create playlist easily by drag n drop.
Even I create the playlist manually, it sometime didn't work.

[FIX] Audible.com Player Skin corrected

For those that use the Audible.com player will have noticed there is no skin defined for 800x480 and so the player defaults to the smallest. This leaves you with the player in the top left and a corrupt screen unless you use one of the screen resizing utilities. All that is need is to increase the size on the JPG and add them to the skins INI file. Unfortunately Audible tech support don't seem to understand the difference between a Touch and a Touch Pro2 and keep quoting the wrong resolution. Anyway I've made the changes myself and they are attached. Copy the contents of the zip to your device's \Program Files\Audible\skins directory. Only the INI file will overwrite an existing file. I admit the landscape ones aren't as neat as the portrait ones as I couldn't match the gradient but you will usually be using this in portrait anyway.
Does anyone have a .cab file for audible? i want to be able to install the player from my phone microsd card instead of having to connect it to my pc to install it.
never mind i found a way to get the cab from the exe
Thank you! Great Job!
Thanks!
Seems to be a small bug with the time indicators, but I can live with it!

Hacking touch player

I really love touch player but the fact is if your like me and have 2000+ songs touch player gets very slow when trying to scroll. This is because it shows album art in the library list. If i go into the folder that contains all the bmp images for the songs and delete it then it solves all the issues and the lag goes away as there is no album art, this is a bad solution as we all want to keep the album art. So i have pin pointed the problem and wondering if there can be a fix.
My two ideas;
1.) Hack touch player so that we can remove the album art in the library list but have it show up when in the now playing.
2.) Point touch player to a different directory to grab the images for the songs in the libary and in that folder just have few of the default images or no images so it gets blank data and no icons show up. But still have it grab the album art when in the now playing area.
I would post the thread i started on modaco but can't coz i'm a new user and it dose not allow me to do so
i would also love touchplayer hack to only update movies i use another player for my music...this would speed up the update significantly!!
well from what i said in the first post if that is complete it would allow for faster searches and less lagg.
I have test it by removing all the bmp that get created by touch player in "my storage/program files/touchplayerimages" after that touch player just fly's and there is no lagg what so ever, but this is a temp solution as i don't want to keep delete my album art as i want to keep it.
EDIT:
I just made a copy of touchplayerimages folder and looked inside and notice all the art is 256x256 which is really big and could explain the lag as it resizing the images to fit the library thus the lag. It seems you need to keep the size at 256x256 for the "now playing" section of the player. A simple solution is just to re size all the images to like 50x50 and the lag goes away but when you go into "now playing" the images are pixelated and blurry do to the reduced size.
for this i have to possible solutions aswell
1.) hack it so that it generates 2 images one at 30x30 for the library and another at 256x256 for "now playing" and it knows which one to pick up.
This could be a simple hex that has a sub folder in the touchplayerimages called libraryimages and all the images stored there are at 30x30 which would make it prefect. Or again just have it point to that folder and not have it generate anything is also fine, by doing this there should not be any images that it finds in that folder so no images get displyed in the lirary thus no lag, while "now playing" works as normal.
2.) Hack the "now playing" section and just reduced the resolution size so it only displays at like 100x100.
also wishing someone could make a way that the touch player doesnt include all sound files. if i do an update it includes even my ringtones into the player list. wish there was a way to make it the search folder specific
there is a app for that created by wes over at modaco called DB_TPlayer.Arm.CAB, but it would not run for me maybe you will have better luck.

I have this problem.
To run it, you have to delete all musics on device (include TouchPlayer database). After that, run wes' app and configure it selectin' which folder contain your music files.
It works for me. But after that, DB will not work again.
great will try it out, i don't care if it dosn't run after but as long as it only searches the folders i want it to i fine. Can you remove it after and it will keep the settings?

photo music album on HD2

Hi,
how can i put my own image on the music album?
i don't want to use Gracenote.
Thanks

i've had that problem with album arts.....after many programs used i'm now using a program called Mp3Tag Editor.......it's soooo great and you can add the album art of your choice with no complications....you can download it from its site [Sorry, as a new member i'm not allowed to post links to other sites] just search google for [ mp3tag editor ]....
you just need to modify a little bit in the settings......so here is what to do :
after completing installation open the prog --> click on the [Tools] tab and then choose [Options] then modify the [Mpeg] setting just like what you see in the attached image......
have fun adding your album arts to your favorite music...
i hope that will help you......
I use media monkey as it works very similar to itunes, which I'm used to. Can add any artwork to any music files, and you don't even have to resize the artwork first
There are several methods.
You can embed artwork in the music files themselves, using a pc application as described above (Media Monkey, Mp3Tag...).
Or you can simply copy your album cover image to the folder where the music files are and rename it to 'folder.jpg'. This can be done using the phone's own file explorer, so no need for a pc.
Thanks to everyone.
i did it.
Best regards,

I tried the folder.jpg in the same folder as my music file but it didn't work?
I am using the same folder structure as the HTC pre supplied music files and I can view the jpg in the PDA editor
Any ideas? I prefer the simple (less software) approach rather than loading software like mp3tag and mediamonkey etc
I don't remember the folder structure of the pre-supplied music, but my music is arranged like this: "Storage Card\Music\[Artist]\[Album]\". In each folder, I have all the mp3's for that specific album, along with its own "folder.jpg". I assume it's the same in your case.
It could take a while before you actually see it. Try playing each of the album's tracks (just skipping through them should be enough), then load another album, then go back to the first. You should start seeing the folder image this way.
If that doesn't work, you could check the album folder to see if there's a file with a name that starts with "~hTC_". This is the Music Player's own cover image, made from whatever cover you supplied. If such a file already exists, you could try deleting it and then repeat the above steps to force the Player to recreate the cover image.

Manila /Sense Skin for TCPMP Media Player

Just fiddling around on a rainy Saturday. There's a nice finger-friendly black skinned version of The Core Pocket Media Player by Makuu over on mobilitysite.com which has been configured for VGA devices like our Touch Diamonds. It's an excellent media player (plays a lot of file types - think VLC/VideoLAN for Windows Mobile) and the black skin is nice - Makuu's done a nice job.
Being a bit of a freak about making things match, however, I've quickly whipped together the following 2 image files (see the attached zip) to give a simple, clean HTC Manila/Sense/TouchFlo type of appearance to the player so it matches the rest of my phone applications.
To install;
Download and install Makuu's TCPMP VGA cab file from mobilitysite.com.
Then download my zip file & extract the 2 image files, transfer them to your phone, and place them in the TCPMP folder in your Program Files folder - over-writing the existing files (note: you might want to back up the originals first though).
Start TCPMP & you should see something like the attached image (sexy girls not included). That's it. Enjoy.
