Cloning - Touch CDMA General

Does anyone know if I can clone a sprint phone to replace my Bell mobility phone. I can get a Sprint Touch on Ebay for cheaper then a new Bell replacement and I was wondering if it is worth buying one and having it on hand should I say drive over my phone, hehehe, did that to one 2 years ago, it would be nice to have a back up to just turn on and use.

HTC Customer Support -- Replacing a Phone?

Hello everyone,
So I need to replace my phone, but since I am with T-Mobile on an unlocked 8525, I have to go through HTC to do so (I bought the phone on eBay). Does anyone have any experience with their customer support and if this is an easy task to go about doing? (I have the classic white-screen problem)
I already called their American "hotline", and it was just some guy who picked up and didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about. He told me to call back tomorrow when their warranty department was open and they could help me out.
Thanks!

I have had my phone replaced by HTC. But that was only because the repairservice misplaced my phone.
At least here in Europe you need a proof of purchase with a date on it.
After this date the warranty period starts. So you could have some problems there.
eBay / 8525 repair
Hey there,
I had purchased an 8525 on eBay.
A few months later, the phone had some hardware problems.
I tried fixing myself, but was unable to do so.
AT&T / Cingular will not help you if you do not have their service and HTC will not help you, because it is a Cingular / AT&T branded hone.
After selling my broken 8525 on eBay, for parts, I waited to buy a new one.
Just bought another used 8525 on eBay last week, and unlocked it.
Today I purchased a warranty plan from www.squaretrade.com.
They will replace your phone, or give you your money back if they can not replace it.
It is well wirth the money spent for a warranty through them, since AT&T and HTC wont help.
Let me know if you have any questions.
How much can I get?
Well, it's too late for me to get the Squaretrade warranty, but I will keep that in mind for next time, thank you.
Now my question is (if I can't get HTC to replace it), how much could I get for this phone? All it is is the white-screen problem, which I've read people can easily fix by just taking the phone apart (I'm just not good with that so I don't know if I wanna risk it). How much would I be able to sell a white-screen 8525 for on eBay? $250 maybe? Thanks!

Titan Discontinued

Was browsing around phones just before, did any of you realize that the Titan/Mogul has been discontinued from Sprint and Alltell? The only carrier still offering it is Verizon.
yea its been off the sprint site for some time now. Alot more people are getting TP's instead of replacement moguls if something were wrong with theirs and they brought it in. Makes me want to try lol.
Everything has a lifespan and its the end of the titans.
Noooo...
If I get another Windows Mobile device it will have WM7. My next discount (NE2) ends this December. Either way I am loving my Titan (Verizon XV6800) and don't want to give it up for any current phone. Nice to see Verizon still has it but they also got it later then everyone else. Also since I am with Verizon, they (as well all know) capped the TP. But if something does happen to my phone then I would go for the TP.
that brings up an interesting thought. What happens if you have to replace your titan using your insurance? They have to supply you a replacement phone since it is part of the policy. Does that mean they would have to give you the Titan Pro?

im getting a touch pro as we speak delivered.

but looks like sprint tep has refurb moguls again for all that traded theirs for touch pros
USCellular still offers it, the HTC PPC6800. i dont like a touch only phone, been addicted to this setup since the TMO MDA
TP has a keyboard, all this is so tempting..
just a small update..I just tried to claim insurance with sprint, they told me they've restocked on refurbed Titans and they'd replace mine with a refurbed one instead
bummer
ok i see what the touch pro is now, Fn nice. i want one, uscc needs to discontinue it and replace it with the tp.

dont know why anyone wouldnt want it over the 6800

Just because they are discontinued doesn't mean that they aren't carried.
My old XV6700 was discontinued for a LONG time and yet every time I went to exchange it for insurance, I got another 6700.
Odds are they will have more to exchange. I got upgraded by going in and saying that the 6700 was a POS (It's not) and I wanted an upgrade or I would cancel. I had a 6800 on the way in all of 15 minutes.
I would be happy to be wrong though. I really want a touch pro

Rumor is USCC is getting the HTC Touch Pro in March. It is already on their rebate slips.
thatd be good except i just signed like 3 months ago. but i do got insurance, and uscc seems to replace phones fairly often.
i know when i had my tmo mda they replaced it with the wing. about 3 months after they replaced it i broke my mini usb port broke and the insurance replaced it with a wing
It is showing out of stock for me now.
yes its discontinued, thust explaining my free new touch pro
I never did a warrany so I will just wait for Windows Mobile 7 when I get a new phone.
negatory
sorry but its not being sold anymore beyond whats left in stock and refurbished ones customers bring in

The Titan has better battery life. If you're a power user you could barely squeak by on a single battery with the Titan. With the Touch Pro, you'll need to carry a spare or purchase the extended battery kit.
Free Touch Pro
Current Sprint Customers with an HTC PPC 6800 Mogul can go online to their Sprint.com accounts and file a self replacement form. Give any reason for the device needing to be replaced. You will get a confirmation stay your device will be replaced with a HTC PPC 6850 Touch Pro. The Touch Pro that ships to you will be a BRAND NEW Device and not a refurb.
I work in a position to know this as fact and have helped many people follow this process.

This is have nothing to do with having a warranty. If the device is defective sprint will replace the device. However there are no Moguls left in stock. So TPs are the replacement. This will not last for long. Soon Customers will only be getting 150 off toward the cost of a replacement device. This is the same process that happened after the Mogul came out replacing the PPC6700

is it safe to buy a refurbished hd2 tmous ?

hi, i plan to buy a brand new hd2 (the tmous one), problem is i inspect tmob site (t-mobile.com) and found that t-mobile no longer producing a brand new hd2, so they sell the refurb hd2 only
question is, is it safe to buy a refurbished hd2 tmous? or should i choose to buy the used hd2 tmous one?
refurbs are ok. you get a warranty.
My HD2 is perfect
warning before you buy!
i ordered my hd2 from tmobile on the 23rd... got it on the 28th... BROKE. for some reason this thing would not stay on for more than 2 min with out rebooting. took about 2 hours and at least 3 seperate phone calls to set up a return and cancel the contract i had to extend to get the (broken) phone. i ended up buying one in mint condition off the local craigslist for $50 and 2 years less. just a warning. i do like tmobile but after the crap they gave me in trying to return it.... ill pass.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the refurb from T-Mobile. But at least T-Mobile took it back, they probably would have sent you another one if you would have asked to replace the broken one. Also I am not downing your choice to buy off of craigslist, but if you get a broken HD2 from there you probably will not be so lucky to be able to return it. Just a thought, it is ultimately up to the buyer to make the decision.

I ordered mine in mid March. I already had one, but by ordering a refurb through T-Mobile I was offered a lifetime warranty for 1.99 per month. I'm probably going to sell my original, which was advertised as "open box", but had about 13 hours of talk time. Maybe it was used in a store or something, I don't know. This one had been used for about 3 minutes, so it was very new.
The site did list new ones as of a couple of weeks ago, but only for new customers.
I bought mine off of amazon.com second hand for $250.... it had issues at first ...kept on restarting ...but it turned out the baseband ( software that interprets the rom's instruction to the hardware) was wrong
I upgraded to 2.15.xx.xx and it works flawlessly now...

[July 7] [?] Can I use a phone thats been claimed for insurance?

my mystic ball tells me that he claimed insurance on it for a reason....
i would ask for the imei # & then call htc to see if it has any warranty still on it. if it does you could buy it & hope that what ever is wrong with it will be covered under the warranty but you might be buying a very expensive paper weight. I bought mine on ebay & made sure it was still under warranty before buying it & then shipped it out to htc for repair. they replaced my phone & shipped it back 2 me 4 free. i only had to pay for the shipping there.
His description says he only did it to get another phone and that its gauranteed working. But I'm wondering if T-Mobile would care about that and block your phone?
my only concern would be it having a bad esn which shouldnt be likely since he said he did the swap himself. normally that happens when you try 2 sell a stolen phone. i would call t-mobile with the esn# to see if its bad or not.
anytime you do an exchange through t-mobile you have 2 mail back the phone thats not working or you will get a huge restocking fee = to the phones price unless it was an upgrade which i think you then can keep your old phone.
I would check the completed auctions on ebay, its on the left hand side of the page. price what the htc hd2 has sold for & then if you can get it for cheaper then the average price i would go ahead & buy it. if you cant get it working on t-mobiles network then you can always resell it on ebay & since you did your homework on how much you can expect 2 sell it 4 you wont be out any/a lot of money. i wouldnt think that it would be an issue but i also wouldnt want to give you info on something im not 100% on, best bet would be to call.
I didn't know ESN's applied to phones that use sim cards.
So if the ESN is bad then it might not work and it would just be a paper weight?
Would applying a new OS such as android fix this at all and is the ESN changeable?
Thanks for the info guys, esp htccraze
As I was writing that I was wondering it myself. Lol. I looked online at a few places and your right, t-mobile is not affected by bad esn #'s. I was with verizon till just last year so thats where I was gathering my info from, so I'm really sorry about that.
It seems as though everything should be fine then. Like I said, if you can get a good deal on it & think you'd be able to resell it around the price you paid then there wouldnt be as much risk because you'll be able to get your money back if for whatever reason you no longer like/want the phone. I don't like 2 tell ppl what they should do with they're hard earned money but as a pt seller on eBay myself I feel that papal/ebay buyer protection would have you covered if something was listed wrong or if it dont live up to the description he put in his listing.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
cakinlife there are 2 options you can do. 1) As htccraze said yes you might want to call htc if it is still cover under warranty. 2) The HTC HD2 could be use under another network if the phone is unlcoked.
I would be suprised if there was no sting in the tail here
Insurance is not used just to get a new phone (most insurance phones are refurbs anyway) and the only reason it would be replaced without being sent in for repair/exchange would be if its reported lost/stolen, then the owner got it back (or it was not lost anyway)
Dodgy to say the least
If the IMEI is blacklisted, you need to provide proof of ownersip to unlock it (if you are not the original owner) in the UK that is
IMEI for the phone
IMSI for the SIM
Thanks everyone for the tips, I ended up losing the auction lol (price got too high) but now I know =D
Really appreciate all the help

digitizer on my s4 just flat out went kaput

no insurance on the phone, no upgrades available. Kind of out of luck here. Cheapest costs I've seen to fix digitizer run over $200 so it doesnt seem worth fixing.
I was contemplating buying the LG G3 off contract when it came out so this has now forced my hand. However, I need something to get me buy for basic functioning until that phone comes out (I don't know if itll be coming out shortly after their announcement next week or months after that like samsung did it, which changes things).
Main reason for posting this is that I need advice for what to get in the meantime. Should I get one of those AT&T go phones for $60 or is there a better option for cheap out there? Dare i say an old iphone? ugh
