well first of all i apoligize for my english..
so.. i have problem with my herald with battery drain.. i dont know what's the problem. ive tryed pdaviet 1933 and 1938 bulids, 3 versions of Touch-it and my own touch-less compilation but i every rom average power consumption is ~200ma instead of 30 (from wizard or universal) and battery is dying in 10-12 hours...
i am sure that is not any of 3rd party apps that i installed.. some process must use cpu all time. sometimes (but rarely) it falls to ~50ma (checking with acb powermeter) but i dont know when or why...
i cant find any wm5 rom in net :/ i mean ANY.. i want to try is this problem exist only on wm6 and maybe it is possible to cook wm6 rom with some files from wm5..
my unit have signs of fall and maybe it is hardware problem but i googled problem and i see i'm not alone
please - if someone have wm5 rom on harddrive please upload it and send me link.. well i cant use rapidshare at home..
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/TaskMgr/
this task manager let you see the processes
i know this prog and killed every process that is not needed for system to work.. :/
i have tried to disable some devices and services but i doesnt have much time to test every single file.. first of all i want to try wm5 to check that the problem exist there or not..
Which Radio ROM are you using? That might be the problem.
no, thats not problem - ive used some 2.9x (i dont remember) and now 3.0x but powerconsumption is too big even in flight mode. its diffrent kind of problem..

Yes, that can be one problem. Older radio versions can result in unneccessary power-drain. But mine reads +105 to +115mA when idle. CPU usage is 2-4% when idle. I don't know the stats of wizard/universal, but, battery life of my unit is just fine. Lasts me a full working day with ~10% left to spare
My radio is the latest(03.07.90)
so imagine that wizard (almost same hardware) can have power consumption less than 30mA.. so can live 3-4days...
and service manual for herald claims that power consumption in idle mode must be less the 50 (as far as i remember) or you must replace MB
my battery is ust 5days old(bought a new one few days ago from boxwave)
edit: WM5 dopod official ROM is there on the FTP(i hope so)(uploads>herald)
<i'm stupid> i didnt checked uploads folder... :S thanks! currnetly downloading but i am going to work :/
thats not battery, bt, wifi, 3rdparty software or hardware problem. all heralds wm6 have huge power consumption and i dont know why... i'll check wm5 tomorow..
@slimag: first check if this drain is there in wm5 too If yes, I'll be going straight back to WM5, if it can give me 3days battery life

The newest radio actually drains more battery...
I've had my Herald at 8mA...
Most of the time it's between 30-200mA when I'm overclocking...

Everyone's best guess is that it's a bug with the radio attempting to regain a signal even when in flightmode.
so which radio do you recomend? i had 2.97 before and onestly i dont see any diffrence after upgrade. i'll try 2.94.
and the funny thing - i disassemled my herald and clean every part and now its not 180-200ma but 100-150
next day. next rom, next radio... no diffrence :/ i didint checked wm5 yet but i flashed my herald with 2.94 radiorom and powerconsumption is still at ~180...
whole day and lowest point was 130ma.. quite anoying..

no :/ i've got crazy week and passed only 2 of 6 exams yet... i've got 3 cooked roms (on my own) and thats wm5. i tried once to flash with wm5 but i'm stupid and i've forgot to cut out spl/ipl and then there were new problems with my pc (graphic card just comited suicide..) so i dont know yet..
couple things ive seen..
1) 2.94 radio is batteryfriendly and reception is good.
2) sometimes after reset before i go to bed power consumption is less than 30 (~10mA) and then i receive sms and it jump up to 100mA... :/
3) the only process that take cpu (about 5%) is Shell32.exe . i'm not sure is this primary process but in wizard it takes no more cpu than any other process at idle...
i really need more time.. i've got tousands of ideas for a custom good rom and no time at all...

Maybe you just have a faulty phone. It's not happening to most of us and it's across multiple ROMs.
sooo i passed already only two exams and 6 more are waiting for me but i cant wait..
i tried today to flash my device with wm5 once again and i cant make it works... device doesnt boot up (unlike my ported wm6.. it hangs on boot screen for now but i think i can bring it to live in few days)
i cut out wm5 os and make nbh again like for wm6 with htctool and wm6 works but wm5 shows only first boot screen after format fat and after reset its.. well.. its just dont turn on at all.. only way is to go to bootloader again and flash with another rom..
maybe wm5 doesnt wor with ipl/spl 4.xx?
does any one ported any wm6 rom? i'm currenlty trying to make a paradox (from wizard - 37,4mb ram free) works but im thinking about using some files from wm6.1 for hermes.
what files from herald are necessary from xip and from oem drivers?
currently im doing some researches with battery drain caused by camera driver (sk35..) maybe i'll cut out camera from final rom (i dont use it at all)

get a different phone?
Are you saying your battery is dead 1 day after continuously having this program activated? If so, I'm amazed the battery lasted that long! How old is your device and battery? Does the battery charge o.k. when it's plugged to a charger?
Hi Hotdog,
Thanks for your reply.
My device is 1 year old and the battery drains even when the phone is inactive(battery charges just fine).
Before installing NBD, the battery lasted like 3 days (not really an active user of the phone) and now only 1 day.
Am i the only person experiencing this issue around the forums??
Device info:
ROM version 6.6.6.666 WWE
ROM date 8/23/07
RADIO version 02.19.11
Protocol version 4.1.1309
MDA Vario T-mobile AKU2 model.
Thx.

Ive seen many people with this problem. all I can suggest to you is, lower rom numbers on WM6 use up the battery faster. I dont know why that is but that is the trend.
Im not suggesting you go out there and get 2.69 radio rom. the higher you go the more unstable the rom is. all Im saying is, it might be the radio rom mixed with WM6. try a reflash back to wm5 and see if battery is back to 3 days.
One other thing you can try is drain the battery completely, recharge it fully, drain it a second time and recharge it fully again. sometimes when you flash the battery memory gets messed up, it's happened to me once.

Thanks for the reply elmetal!
That brings me to my second question,
Is there a Radio ROM out there for my T-mobile that is stable and runs smooth under NBD 8.0?
What comes after RADIO version 02.19.11? 2.69 radio rom?
I did actually flash back to the original T-mobile NL ROM (latest version)
And there the battery is functioning as expected.
(you can really tell, in the afternoon, the battery is almost at 50% with NBD)
Thank you so much for your help! really appreciated.

hmm.. I never focus much on tmobile users with radio problems, more cingular users. some say the 2.47 works, some say the 2.69 is flawless, I personally use the cingular 2.25.11. it's the stock cingular rom and it works fine.
Im gonna give the forum a good look for tmobile radio rom threads and ill redirect you
I suggest you try the cingular 2.25.11 (being that tmobile in the us uses a lot of cingular towers) since its really really stable.
EDIT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314235&highlight=t+mobile+radio+rom
try that, its a decent thread on the ROM workin in the UK, Im not exactly sure where you're stationed but the point is this, there's probably an existing thread out there.
Only thing is, many different people have many different results. Updating Radio ROMs is a little dangerous for me cus the calls I receive can be very important so I try not to mess with it.
Install a new radio rom, leave your phone in standby for a few hours and test texting and calling to see if itll wake up on its own, some roms wont work well. trial and error
Goodluck!

Point taken
Will do some more research on Tmobile Dutch(Netherlands) Radio Roms to see if that helps.
Thanks for all the effort elmetal!
Nope it's not the Radio Rom 2.19 is the most stable and loses less energy.
The 2.69 radio Has more problems keeping the signal so it uses more energy to maintain the signal, and of course you might lose some calls here and there.
Earlier posts do indeed have the classic basic Battery drain tips.
But what about deleting the items from the Windows\StartUp folder?
Flash a fully loaded battery.
How about borowing my new battery and see if it makes a difference since my wizard is on repair.
Some users even have reported that 8.2 actually was better on the battery then 8.3.
Some believe that it might have something to do with the memory leak problem most Wizard roms have issues with. Keeping more memory reffreshed does require more power. So try to set the weather plug in to only update mannualy set the homescreen to not time out. Or try setting up the included smartskey to overclock instead of Battery status althought i don't think that battery status causes isseus.
Or do a Combo. Drain the battery recharge it perform a hard reset or clear storage. You could also try a lower pagepool rom version, nowadays you can change the pagepool without reflashing. Lower is slower but again it uses less memory. You could also use wizard registry wizard to change the font cache to lower setting and other cache settings.
My advice is to charge as less as possible as my USB connector got ****ed.
I tried the 25.11 on T-mobile network but quit using it as it either froze the ROM or could just not connect.
Or yes you could get another phone
Also make sure you change the settings of the network registry to not automaticly scanning for the network.

I have a MDA and I am running WM6 and using the 2.69.11 radio and I have no problems. I found that changing the task manager settings so that the program actually closes when you click x helps increase free ram and also, don't use any overclocker software such as battery status(it kills your battery and it doesnt make that much of a difference anyways...). Another thing you want to do is disable the today timeout under today settings. that tends to use more ram and thus, kills the battery faster.
See i knew i wasn't crazy about the today timeout
Thanks for the confirm.
I had the same problem with I upgraded to 8.1. Battery drain was pretty bad.. Usually getting home from work, I'd still be in the 90's with moderate texting, but with 8.1 i'd be in like the 50's. I just went back to 7.9.
The problem isn't the ROM... it's the audio manager from HTC, that sucker eats battery like I've never seen... been having this issue too, until I stoped using the audio manager and started using windows media player!

Same here i (as in i didn't actually notice it) but i stopped using the audio manager in favour of WMP as it gave better reactions to using the Stereo Bluetooth headset. As in Audio manager sometimes did not pick up the next and previous commands or would stop playing.
As i said i never really paid attention and i can only speculate that the battery drained faster when i did use Audiomanager.
Just goes to show that closing apps completely is always the best practice.
BTW, dferreira.
Ai's it Funny how one month after your WM5SE release people actually reacted after my post
What is your reason to use WM5 base?
WM5 is the native OS for Wizards... so, I find it to be more quick than WM6... Never gave me problems, like WM6 did. WM6 is just a face lift on WM5 so... I'm trying to make it as good as WM6 but quicker

hi,
i just flashed my elf to SX 6.0 WM 6.5.
i found out that the battery life in decreasing and i wonder is it due to the rom or is it the weakening of my battery.
previously i was using SX 1.1 WM 6.1
my battery now only last about a day standy
normal usage of a hour and sms daily the battery lasts less than a day.
can anyone help me figure this out?
im worried that i'll spend on a new battery and finding out later that it wasn't the battery's fault.
Hi weihoe..
Battery life drainage is probably due to one of two things.. either the ROM is not suitable or the IPL/SPL compination isn't correct..
check your IPL/SPL compination either by entering the tri-color screen (holding down the camera button and reseting with the stylus) or by dsixda's all in one elf tool found in these forums ... try to make both the IPL and the SPL the same.. for ex. i use this compination:
IPL 3.07.xxxx
SPL 3.07.xxxx
plz note also that if your are using Hard-SPL 3.14 .. this causes increased battery drain..
if the compination is fine.. try flashing another ROM and see if the problem persists..
Hope that helps..
i have also encounter this problem and i have done some research on it and i also cooked my own rom to see if i could locate what causes the drain, however
it didn't matter how much i stripped down the rom and what IPL/SPL/RADIO combination i did, and in the end my rom was completely without touchflo, gsm, wireless capabilities. (a blank GUI with a start button, nothing more)
Still the same battery drain, so the problem seems to lie in the Windows 6.5 core.
i used this version btw, WM6.5 Build 21864 (but i know that the drain applies to other versions aswell)
Seems that Microsoft has copied to much of the WM6.5 basecode from Windows Embedded CE 6.0 which also had this problem on ARM platforms before R1 release.

- I believe all the builds available here are beta. So they are bound to have some issues.
- If you feel that core WM 6.5 is eating up battery then, you can try building a ROM with build 21237 and check once.
- I think build 21237 is the one on which MS released an official WM 6.5 SDK.
- The main issue I see with 21237 is : After clicking cross on top right on any screen it always returns to home screen (which I find a bit more offensive).
so how much new original battery cost?and what if duplicate battery do to battery life?is it wirth to have it or not?

Not builds 218xx. Those are non-beta builds made for HTC.
The rest are beta (e.g. the WM 6.5.1 builds with the buttons moved to the bottom)

I think what you are doing to increase the battery consumption is Manila2D V2.0. If they notice, everyone here who are complaining use the version with this ROM. Even I huehuehuehuehue. Before the battery life of my device was two days now takes only one day...

No, battery drains even without M2D and the Phone Canvas.
Guys, the ELFin has NEVER had a long life for me, tops 2 days even with shipped ROM. I compensate with car charger and 2 desk chargers (cheap = ebay). One home, one office. Saving for a Hero.

I have had my HD2 for 2 days now (arrived 11th March 2010)
The battery meter seems to decrease soooo fast its un real
I get about 10 hours out of a full charge
I was reading the others saying the same but i guess I just hoped mine would be able to last at least one day!!
I have even read some say a couple of days!!
I installed battlog and my phone just never seems to run at under 100mA so on my 1230mA battery you can see my problem!!, i can't seem to tell what is using that 100mA or what is running, is battlog what I should use or is their another program to help me??
my back light is set to 20%
installed WMLongLife so its always on 2G except for the whitelist such as opera/FB/Youtube etc
but on emails which are set to every 15mins its on 2G
I wanted push emails but when i set it up i found that my emails came straight through but no alert so i would have to keep looking at my phone unless someone can help with that!!
also twitter is not active, I dont use stocks automatically or weather!!
I have read LEO's tips and i just feel so far not in a million years will i get 24hrs!!

You might want to consider upgrading your Radio ROM version, I flashed from stock Radio ROM to 2.07 (as this was necessary to use the custom ROM I chose to install) and bettery life is really good I find, even better than version 2.08.
If you are willing to do this, please see this link.
Note: you must install HardSPL (once installed successfully, it will show as SPL: 1.42.HSPL instead of 1.42.0000 in Bootloader mode) on your HD2 to unlock it so you can install other Radio versions and custom ROMs.
Start by upgrading to the 1.66 ROM from your provider, then see what you're up to

You might want to consider upgrading your Radio ROM version, I flashed from stock Radio ROM to 2.07 (as this was necessary to use the custom ROM I chose to install) and bettery life is really good I find, even better than version 2.08.

You wont look back!
i concur... upgrade rom to at least 1.66 and radio to 2.08.50.08_2
i am getting great battery life out of this radio.
with your current rom and radio i guess all you could do now is:
a) install bsb tweaks... it has a power saving option but im unsure as to what registry changes are actually made by it.
b) search these forums for battery tweaks. there are quite a few good reg changes that have been posted.
Wait at least a week as before that, your battery isn't fully conditioned, so you don't get the best out of it.
If you browse internet or have the phone in constant use than it´s normal that the battery is sucked out rapidely - the display and wireless connections consumpt the most energy...
One example: Surfing via Edge/3G demands 300 - 550mA (in peaks)! So it´s no miracle that the battery runs out of juice...
See my log in attachment. This were 19 minutes browsing with 3G (in the middle the phone switched to Edge). I´m currently running EnergyROM 23544 with radio 2.08.50.08_2, browser is Opera Mobile 10 beta. Standby consumption should be around 9 - 18mA (I have 1% loss over night in flight mode)...
Also, bear in mind that the full capacity of the battery won't be reached until several charge/discharge cycles have been done when you flash to a new ROM.

I am wrong in thinking that batteries these days don't really need conditioning, even though I say that so far I am letting my battery totally die before I recharge but its like when I put it in flighmode at night to save battery it still can drop by 10%, is this normal??
thanks for your replies

Ok now that sounds like my cup of tea
I want what you have!!
I have only ever flashed my viewty a ton of times, put themes and such on but as always was case its a brand spanking new phone and I really do not want to mess up, I work in I.T so I have at least 2 braincells haha, but yeah, if i had some instructions to follow I could do it!!
I just want to say a BIG thanks for the replies, so fast and so much help!!
thank you!!!
upgrade your rom to a newer version
It's a huge difference, at least for me between 1.48 rom and 1.66 offical rom. With 1.66 WWE and radio 2.06 my HD2 last for 2 and half days, with HSDPA always on, emails every 1 hour and moderate calls. And no other programs to save power...
Hi!!
So I have got Radio 2.07 and EnergyROM 23544 because the guy said he had only 1% drop in flight mode through the night or would you still say for me to go to 1.66 with Radio 2.07??
thanks for any help!!
I prefer to use shipped ROM's with embeded radio, but is up to you to try.

Problems
Just flashed using HSPL to the energy rom
all went well and my device restarted, nice interface and at the bottom was a please wait bar increasing saying different things and then it said very fast, "restarting device" on the restart my device is stuck on the black screen with the pink circled arrow!
if i take my battery out it first goes to a screen saying energy
then into the user interface and the please wait bar at the bottom again and then it says restarting device when the bar is full and again on restart its the black screen with the circled pink arrow!!
i was meant to flash my Radio to 2.07 after it turned back on back at this stage i am thinking 1, i cant change the Radio to 2.07 and i cant even change firmware because i have to have the device with the user interface to use Active sync
thinking i could well be screwed right about now unless some very kind person tells me otherwise!!
thank you
Hold volume down key, reset phone, hold until you're into the tricolor screen. Then plug your USB cable and flash that radio

Yeah that is what i thought, I am at the red green blue and white screen and at 1st it says serial at the bottom, i plug in my USB and it changes to USB but when i go to Active Sync it states that it can not find my phone!!
really struggling with this but needed to do it since i was getting about 8 or maybe 10hrs out of my battery!!
thanks for the fast reply
Seems i did not actually need active sync to say connected, i just clicked the radio update when at the multi coloured screen so now i am on radio 2.07 and back to my phone restarting, lets hope this time it will restart!!
oj so i waited until my phone restarted before to post!!
it restarted with the radio 2.07 and the EnergyROM 23544 but still the same, when my phone loads into the user interface all looks nice witht he bar please wait at the bottom but when the phone restarts on its own it just gets stuck on the black screen, the red writting at the bottom about the radio version just never shows, then if i take the battery out the same process starts!!
any suggestions please??

Hi,
My battery runs out very fast. I use ROM 1.66.409.1 (76641) NOR
Radio version 2.06.51.07.
I try minimizing the 3g use, wlan is off, BT is off, no programs in the task manager... I have tried it all, but with no luck.
The battery power disappears rapidly.... Any suggestions?
Hello..I am an overall very excited HTC HD2 user but i am having huge battery problems which is why i am asking for your insights In general if phone is idle it can go as far as 35 hours straight without any charging. But when i start playing around with it, browse menus , look through settings, launch apps e.t.c the battery drains like mad..sometimes even 3% in 10 minutes..
i do not know what could be the cause of this in particular since listening to mp3, watching movies does not chalk down too much power,i can even say i was slightly happy in that area(consumption and quality wise)..
so far i have done the below..
-hard reseted
-got a brilliant new mmc (transcend 8gb class 6 FTW )
-flight mode only during nights
-bsb tweaks
-some of the tweaks mentioned in the registry tweak for battery thread (not mmc ones, read alot about data corruption risks)
-tested battery (output voltage and mah are fine and it only gets warm after 3 hours of constant ndrive use-which is normal)
-i never installed anywhere else besides phone memory(apps/games)
-virus free
-i have no data plan so 3g/hsdpa access is not a possibility(also deactivated all connections from NoData app)
-disabled all auto update app functions(weather, footprints, my location ,time e.t.c)
the only possible deal i can figure out its to blame is the radio rom..
As i said earlier i am very interested in hearing your thoughts, comments, suggestions on my issue..Thanks for hearing me out
specs
manila : 2.5.19211619
Rom : 1.66.482.1 (gr) - official

do you use msn live?
i have the SAME EXACT problem, i do NOT have any apps running, i always use cleanram, every apps always get terminated.
as soon as i TOUCH my phone, the battery drains, this battery is rediculous, i have BsB tweaks with powersaving, i dont beleive how you guys get a full day out of this crappy battery when mine doesnt last 10 hours with just texing/and web browsing. im on my third battery replacement, i conditioned my battery three times and STILL the same problem, i feel like braking this phone in half, im using my blackberry bold 9700 now which lasts me 3 days with FULL usage ALL day, my hd2 is about to see the hammer soon
try flashing it to another rom
I stepped from stock rom to artemis and I use my HD2 often but with the stock rom i didn't even came to the middle of the day but with that artemis rom i can get till next day morning without charging plus it's very stable and i almost never do a soft reset and i use this artemis rom about a month now and i didn't even do a hard reset after flashing
sorry for my english hope you understand me
My HD2 will last 2 days constant usage. This includes web surfing and emails being pulled down all day via exchange.
The battery goes down quick to about 30% and will stay around there for ages.

I hear good things about artemis as well but i am afraid i am not up to the flashing challenge..too much of a chicken to play russian rulette worth 680 euros :3 (in case i break something)
just for a test select sign in with a different account so it wipes your details amd reset, use your phone normally and dont use live see how that gets on.
I had my phone running for 2 - 3 days of medium use. as soon as i signed up for live it was lasting less that a day even if i used task manager. I then wiped my details then it was back to normal again.

With Artemis you can hardly go wrong. It does not flash your radio only the OS part, you do not have to use HSPL but SSPL which is far easier to perform. It's all explained on the Artemis thread itself: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
regards, Kuzibri
BTW, if anything should go wrong, almost impossible with Artemis ROM's, then you can always flash back one of the original stock ROM.s from HTC itself (1.66 or 1.72)

hmmm...this is actually interesting...the artemis post seems to be fairly close to stock rom...BUT..if i backup all stuff i got now, will the usual apps (spb backup e.t.c) store everything?like e.g pc imaging apps(acronis true image , paragon drive backup) ? and if they do...and something goes wrong i can restore from pc even if hd2 becomes unbootable?
i really wish there was something simpler than me meddling with flashing :S im more into-system knowledge oriented guy :S

I understand your "reluctance" to flash a new ROM, but to be honest if you go wrong with flashing Artemis Rom, you will probably never will be ready/equippped to flash a new ROM. Flashing a Artemis ROM is as easy as it can be!

mine is set to 30% and with auto backlight off..its the ideal for my taste actually, even for the sunniest mornings
The WLmessenger change did not bear any fruits..i squeezed out all its batt to just see any time difference but nada..
Oh well, i might probably have to get over myself and start the flashing frenzy(i hear its quite addicting )
Byt the by , there is supposed to be a WWE version of 1.7.x this month i believe..maybe i will start with that and if it gets me nowhere Artemis here i come!
i'm just waiting for a 1500 capacity battery... which is all i need...
running full power and and heavy use... i manage to make it home to charge... but still... i would much rather have a bigger battery to avoid some worrying...
1500 would be soo perfect.. that accessory alone would add an extra 3-4 hours of life on my phone.. which would be more then enough...

Hopefully it comes out soon, but I'm tempted to try Artemis at the moment.
By the way i have 1 weird question about all those ROMs..Are they created from scratch from their makers or are they just modified/edited/tweaked versions of the original OS (ROM) that shipped with the phone?
I ordered a battery bundle with a wall charger, 2X1200mh batteries and a Mirco USB wire for $14 bucks. This is my first full smartphone so its hard for me to get used to the battery life.
I turned off all communications to flight mode. Yet my HD2 battery power keeps dropping fast. I dont have this problem with all my previous windows phone. Whats wrong? I'm using factory rom

yea the hd2's minimal battery life is something that i never had to deal with before also... (i've owned other smartphones but usually could last 2-3 days with moderate to heavy use...) but then again.. i never had a smartphone like the hd2 before
regardless... i'm not sure if i'd be willing to carry 2 batteries around with me... granted i could just leave it in my car until its needed.. but i guess i just consider it a extra thing to remember before i go inside my house/ an extra step to complete before i sleep... would much rather have just one 1500mh
Battery Drain
Do you guys experiencing battery drain have Co0kies Home Tab installed?
There is a known battery drain issue with CHT if .NET version 3.5.9198.0 is not installed. The battery drain will disappear when 3.5.9198.0 replaces .Net 3.5.7xxx.
Don't forget to update the registry to activate the new version and deactivate version 2 or earlier version of 3.5!
Co0kieMonster said:
Some users have had trouble with the battery drain.
I've now added this solution to the first post.
About battery drain:
There is an incompatibility with older versions of the .Net framework that can cause the battery to drain too quickly.
If you have this issue download the latest .Net version from here and install it on your device.
Even if you don't have the issue, it's always good to have the latest .Net version installed.
Big thanks to mike2nl for providing this solution, and to MichelDiamond for tracking the issue while I was away.

So you did flash, and you are running WP7 on your HD2.
Now the battery dies quick?
Firstly, download this ROM and flash it: (google your ass to find out how its done, dont ask me )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941905
Its a custom ROM by football. Works amazing. Better than original ROM or the Moonlight (another custom rom) shiite you're planning on running.
After you have this ROM (or even if you dont have this ROM) if you take care of the follwing things, you will get HUGE battery life.
1. Fix the indicator by installing Registry editor, charge your battery to full and follow following steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933751
Thanks arkatis!
2. See that you have a new sd card, not the one which came with your hd2 orignially, buy a new one, any branded one should do, and rplace it with the older card and in your phone go to: settings> about phone> hard reset
These two steps will really show a massive imprvement in your battery life.

well, for astarters, ml has a higher call drop rate, the voice quality over the call isnt all that great either, im on x.12 radio, and its not able to use the radio perfectly - this same problem is not there on footballs rom.
Another bug is while recieving calls, sometimes, when you click "answer" it automatically puts you on speaker phone! Its scary when you dont want others to know who just called. (happened twice on ml)
gps lock took nearly 5 minutes on ml, on footballs rom it snaps on in less than 30 seconds.
thats why i had to switch to hd2 1.00
Odd how I haven't had any of those problems. Anyway there is no difference between this rom and footballs rom. The tools to make any of those kind of fixes aren't out yet. The only kind of change you'll find is simple things like different keyboards or installed apps.

I did both, but there is no improvement in battery life. lasts less than 12h as before...
I will try the hard reset part when my new SD card arrives
Hold on there a sec, top be clear buying a new SD card might not work at all!!
If you dont have lots of cash or you dont have another use for the SD card please dont go spead money on something that may not work!
Not all cards, even within teh same brand and model will work!
and the reg fix doesnt improve battery life, it just lets you know what you have left, most issues with apparent high consumption are because a your phone isnt fully charged yet windows reports it so, apply reg fix once charged, restart and charge again you may been to repeat process, and to check use the HYC battery tool, try it pluged in and unplugged and you may notice a difference, if you do, restart and plug back in again to charge the remaining battery
I am using Moonlight atm..and with calls/sms and wifing i get utleast 1 and a half day..I use my tweak everytime i charge the phone and seems alright!
I am so obsessed with WP7 so i maybe get an official WP7 mobile..i am thinking of Omnia 7..Looks good!

I actually got the best battery life with the card that came with my HD2.... I've tried 8 different cards with wp7, too... most of them bought recently. Just buying a new card doesn't mean it will work with WP7. Your best chance of getting a good working card it to get a class 2 sandisk with part# ending in A11M.

I only seen this now! This just proves you haven't a clue what you are talking about!!
I'm using the Moonlight-Rom and I tried the last Radios (2.12, 2.15, 2.14)
And the winner is 2.14 - used the phone a lot (games used Wifi...) and after 12h I've still 25% left.
With the other Radios I had to charge it after 9houres because it ran out of battery without using it that much only some SMS!

Hey,
at least we could talk in german, but the others should be able to understand our conversation
I also tried many Radio Roms and my fav is 2.12, bu to be honest I only tried 2.10 2.12 and 2.15.
Do you really think, that the 2.14 is better than the 2.12?
Ja dann machen wir das in deutsch... ;-)
Yes The first Rom I tried was 2.15 (it was already installed - previous rom)
Then I read that 2.12 is working very good and because my phone needs to be charged after less than half a day (using 2.15) I tried 2.12 - but I still had the same problem.
Thats why I decided to use a other Radio! And it seems to work!
Maybe it depends on the phones too?
I dont't know - Try and Error....
I too don't think the registry battery fix works. First time I ever installed WM7 ROM was football's and never changed it. Tried the battery fix a few times with no luck.
Had Radio 2.15 and downgraded to 2.12 with no luck. I see some have improvement with 2.14.
I took out my SIM card yesterday to try if SD card "helps" in battery drain. Left wifi on and played with internet for a bit. This morning it had like 90%+ battery left in it. So it's not the SD card. IMO Radio is the major culprit for the battery drain.
I'll try 2.14 tonight.
