How to remove this shortcut without Hard Reset - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Hello there,
Is there anybody can provide an advice on how to remove this shortcut from main program interface (please refer attachment). For your information, i already removed that application from "remove program" system, plus wipe out the name of that program from registry via find features but it still appear in the main program interface.Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you.

File Explorer or 3rd party explorer

Through built in "File Explorer" go to \windows\Start Menu\Programs. There you will find the short cut to ur program, just delete it.

I've try installing it on the SD Card the Main memory everytime I go to remove it from the remove list I get error Its has not been completely removed do you what to remove it from the list you say yes the only thing it removes is the name of the program from the removal list but the program is still where it was install with all the icons.
So please can anyone help or I have to do a Hard Rest which I real do not what to do.
I'm trying to unistall Phatspell 1.4.

Try SK Tools to clean away anything left from the uninstalle.
Thank you very much the SK Tool worked.
Thank you once again.

I had the same problem. As hotfix is SKTools the best choice in my opinion, but after a hardreset was the problem gone. I'm able now to deinstall the programms cleanly.

Picture viewer doesn't start up ???

Hi Everybody,
Today I have simply tried to have a look at my recent photo's but apparently the standard picture viewer doesn't start up. How can this be screwed up, it sits in the ROM, isn't it ? Maybe it has an INI or other config. file which is corrupted/missing ?? I was trying to search the forum for such a problem, but nothing found...
Please give me a hint if you can.
This is ONLY a hint because I have a Wizard...O2 XDA Mini S...and my Pics and Videos viewer stopped working. I eventually discovered it was because I'd installed the Eten dialer on my phone.
Don't know how this may help but hope it gives some clue.
iainmann,
Thanks for the hint but unfortunately it is not my case.. Other idea anyone ?
Good if you could list out the recent installed software

If youre tapping on the program icon and its not starting then try searching for the actual program (Normally in \windows), and try launching that way.
If youre tapping on a picture and its not starting then have a search on the web for some kind of file association program - perhaps the photo file extension has become dis-associated from the picture viewer.

Hard reset?
Start "Explorer", go to "/windows" and find "pimg" file. Try to start it. If it won't run, then you got virus (or bug

first of all: thanks for all the replies, just to summarize what I did already:
1. I have tried to launch the "pimg.exe" directly - the same thing (nothing) happens.
2. Hard reset - no way ! The problem is not the kind where I would consider a hard reset. I have installed a free picture viewer for the time beeing.
3. I have the "jpg" files associated with "pimg" in Resco explorer, but it didn't make any difference.
If somebody would still come up with a new idea, I would really appreciate :? .
If the program won't start I would check that the program hasn't been overwritten. With Resco make sure that it has a tick in the "In ROM" box in Properties. If not, delete it and the ROM version will be restored.
With File Associations you have two registry keys for each filetype.
HKCR\.jpg - pointing the extension to the filetype and handler
HKCR\jpegimage - telling the OS which icon and program to use for the file.
Other entries exist too like HKCR\.jpeg, for the same file with different extension, and HKCR\jpegfile which is empty on my device.
The HKCR\jpegimage\Shell\Open\Command on mine is (Default) = pimage.exe "%1"
Is yours any different?
Resco has a built in viewer for images and other file types, which you can set as the default action when you click a file.
Hope this helps.
PReDiTor,
Thanks for the hints, I went through the points but nothing suspicious found. I have set now Resco's internal viewer as photo viewer, so I will leave the proble for now. Let's see further after the next hard reset....
its a dll file that is screwing up..
search up the thread on saman's wm5 new menu and there is a dll switcher there..

any professionel please help urgent

when i switch on my htc hd i receive this message ( the file "-hide" cannot be opened either it s not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components .....etc ) can you help me with this pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I'm no expert BUT.
I would check to see if one of the files in windows/startup folder is trying to open it. I think it might be Opera related.
Try pressing on each file in turn until menu comes up then click properties then shortcut tab.
When you find which it is you can edit the shortcut to point to where you want or reinstall the software that has become corrupted in some way.
Hope this helps.

"Note for users new to Windows Mobile you will need a registry editor to find and edit files beginning with either HKLM or HKCU and a file editor that can unhide system files. Resco supply both apps and are recommended but are not the only apps out there. All registry entries are in red."

As this is your first windows mobile phone, I would strongly recommend ignoring that 1st sentance, and just enjoy the phone as much as possible. Then, when you know it better and have some idea what you'd like to do that it won't let you, come here and search for things (only ask after searching fails to find anything ).
If you've not had a windows mobile phone before, jumping into editing the registry and modifying system files is a 100% sure way to brick your phone. It's easy when you know how, so take your time and learn.
Other than that, welcome to XDA and the world of Windows mobile
Quite a lot of the registry tweaks can be don't in a user friendly way using a program called BSB Tweaks. The latest version is 1.6, so have a search for it here and install on your HD2.
That will probably keep you tweaking safely for a will.
thks for valuable advice,as now,i have come to understand why do i need to install the registry editor, however,i do not know the history of the window mobile phone,so can someone enlightened if there is any version on the registry editor and where can i get this.
Thank you in advance
There is a beta version of the Resco product you mention, which can be downloaded at their forum. This is the most convenient on your new touch capable device.
Please remember that playing around with registry settings can brick the system. In such a case, you will have to hard reset your device.
Also, I can only second what the other posters already recommended. Get to know your product step by step, especially with registry changes. Once you understand, it is no magic thing.

I am trying to import some previously saved reg files to my HD2. I just installed PHM Regedit from this thread but Import is grayed out on the Tools menu.
How can I import a registry file? Running the reg file directly opens PHM Regedit but does not import.
Thanks in advance!

HTC HD2 to HD7

I am having difficult time turning my HD2 to Hd7
Everything is OK except for HTC Connection Setup
it says same thing: "Carrier doesn’t exist in the database
Can someone please help me with this problem and what i need to do to make my HD2 turn into HD7?
Thanks in advance
You have toinstall XMODDeployer.xap, that app will deploy the correct settings to change the phone into a HD7 to My Ringtones. Use TouchXplorer to copy those settings to the Windows-folder. Then run HTC Connection Wizard and it will pass everything and work like a charm.
thanks for the reply Silberpfeil3110
I already did the steps above
this is what i did
unlock the phone with ChevronWP7
run Tom XAP Installer as a administrator
install XBMODDeployer
install TouchXplorer
on the phone i launched XBMODDeployer which copied the CustClear.provxml to ringtone. I copied that to the windows folder using TouchXplorer
then i launched the Htc connection setup
same problem
"Carrier doesn’t exist in the database"
any idea what the problem is ?
I had the same problem...and the only way i changed the registry settings was t side load "TOUCHXPERIENCE REGISTRY EDITOR". A little tedious at first, but worked. Now, i have everything working and when i need to do a registry tweak, i don't have to us any deployer, i just go straight to the entry and edit. Hope this helps.
You can get it on the webiste...just google it.

Most of the packaging programs like 7zip can open *.xap files because they are also only archives. Make sure that you don't open that *.xap file ^^
You can open xml-documents by using notepad.
thanks for the help
I manage to install the TOUCHXPERIENCE REGISTRY EDITOR xap in my phone

The problem is that Connection Setup doesn't have any data for some of the smaller carriers. You could just borrow someone else's sim card to activate it and switch back to your own afterwards.
