A while after I've installed official WM6 somtimes only the backlight turned on when I woke the device from standby. And sometimes the hardware buttons stops working to. When this happends the lights in the green and red call buttons are on, even when I set the telephone in standby. Sometimes when this happends the orange charging light also turns on, and I get a bright blue flash in the bluetooth light(much brighter than the actual bluetooth light).
I've tried to turn of the standby, now the device never get black screen(it seems that the black screen only happends when I wake the device from standby). But still the buttons locks up randomly during the day...
I've tried to soft reset, and removing the battery for a while when the screen turnes black, but this doesn't help. Bootscreen and everyting is black for a while.
Now I've downgraded to official WM5. The telephone was ok for a while, but now it shows symptomes of the same problem.
I'va also tried to remove the SD card before I flashed the telephone, but I still get the same error without the SD card.
Is this a hardware or software problem?
Anyone else have this problem?
Now I've tested to disassamble the phone and cleaned everything with CRC electro cleaner, and I've tried every tips regarding the white screen of death, but nothing helps...
I've also tried with many different unofficial ROM's found on this forum, still no change...
I have the same problem, had it with both WM6 and WM6.1 roms. Just now the device woke up on its own from standby (with a dim backlight) and I was unable to turn it on. Sliding out the keyboard just blacked it out, and I can't seem to bring it back to life.
None of the hardware buttons are working either, and the only way to get it back to life is to pop the battery.
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

If I check in "Settings-System-Power-Advanced-On battery power" to turn my JAM off if it is not used for some time (e.g. 3 minutes), it goes off and then I can not turn it on. I tried to push/hold power button, nothing helped but soft reset. If I turn my JAM off manually by pushing power button I can turn it back on manually too. But after 3 or 4 times it acts just like it was turned off automatically, i.e. iregardless if I push or hold power or any button, LED flashes green and the phone does not turn on. The worst part of it is after I push Power button trying to turn my JAM on and LED indicator starts flashing green (and JAM still remains off) if somebody tries to call me he hears the signal as if my phone is ringing (not busy signal or "The number you dial is not available right now" etc.)
Does anybody know what the problem can be? I've got this problem even after hard reset with no third-party applications installed.
non functioning of on/off switch
Check the connectors of your battery on the inside of the JAM. I had the same problem and I found out that one of the connectors did not really "touch" the battery.
I checked it. The contacts on the battery look like they were scratched by contacts on the phone, so I'd think the connectors are in good contact. I even tried to put a small piece of paper between the battery and phone bodyon the left side to make sure it is really pushed to another side, it did not help either
JAM does not turn on after being turned off
Did anyone ever find out the answer to this??! I have the same problem with mine except it's a bit random - mostly doesn't turn back on again after an auto power off for a long(ish) period of time - like at night.
sounds like a possible fault is occurring. Best thing is to do a full backup of your system and then do a hard reset your device and see if the same thing is still happening. If it is, try the positioning of battery as suggested in earlier posts and if still happening, then a handheld service is required
Perhaps someone has an explanation why my backlight doesnt light up again when a button is pressed?
From time to time, the backlight goes dark and even though I am pressing buttons, screen, power button, etc, the backlight doesnt come back on. I have to search for the backlight adjuster (in the dark) in order to switch the light back on.
I have wisbar advanced and SpbPocketPlus installed - might that effect this somehow??
Thanks for any advice!
i have exactly the same problem and donĀ“t know a solution. ;-(
Wisbar Advance 2.6.0.1 is installed, SpbPocketPlus not.
I think it comes more often if i use the camera, but it is not reproduceable...
I've never had this problem before, I dont have wisbar installed.
You may be doing a press and hold function on your device. Quick press of the power turns it off, a long press turns off the backlight. the only way to turn it back on is to long press the power button.
also you have settings that turns the back light screen off, which may be affecting this.
This problem used to occur on the O2 XDA2i ALL THE TIME!
Just my 2 cents. Sorry, not very helpful, but defo a problem we've seen before. You hvae to go into settings to start the backlight back up.

It hasnt happened lately (actually ever I posted this thread strangely enough) but its quite embarrassing when you have to find your way through a dark screen.
I put a large symbol of the brightness adjuster in one corner (using SpbPocketPlus), so I only have to find that symbol rather then start --> settings --> etc..... its not a cure but it makes it easier switching it back on.
If anyone has a remedy for this problem, please share...
Not sure why this happens, but I fixed it using...

didn't help
I tried and still use the neo backlight fix. But this fix is only for forcing via startup a longer measured time for the light to stay on.
I too have suffered with the problem of the backlight not coming on every now and again after starting up the prophet. I've had this problem on numerous roms too which is interesting. What more interesting is that even in the days of my owning a Blue Angel (Orange M2000, MDA) I STILL remember having this intermittent problem with the light not always coming on. Only way I fixed it was to simply soft reset the device. Whenever I did that and when I do it now, it stops it happening for week or so at least.
I still use the neo back light fix too as my phone has the quick light turn off problem without it. Neo certainly created a good fix no mistaking.
All the best

i had the same problem...just put the same value to the standby and backlight ...( both 3 mins on mine)...and never happened again....i think it helps...
I have a strange backlight & power-off problem on my Qtek S200:
When the backlight is switched on and I press the Power button shortly to switch it to sleep mode, the screen gets blank but the backlight does not go off.
So now I wait first when the backlight timer goes off before switching the device to sleep mode manually.
Another problem:
When the power settings is set to switch the device off automatically, it reboots when the timer goes off. So my solution is to disable the auto power-off feature.
How to fix this to the original behaviour ?
I tried the neo_backlight_fix and set the backlight timeout to the same value as the standby timeout, but with no avail.
My Qtek S200 has still the original old ROM (G4 model) and Windows Mobile 5.0:
ROM version info:
IPL: 2.10.001
SPL: 2.10.001
GSM: 02.07.20
OS: 2.10.7.25
Please help me to solve the problem.
Maybe I messed up a lot and the only solution is to install a newer ROM which is available since some time at qtek.nl.
Thanks in advance.
ok well during the day and everything its fine but now as I type this message and when I'm generally in landscape mode using the keyboard my hermes backlight has a life of its own it turns on and off randomly...
no its not power saving, I'm sim unlocked but I now run the 1.09 bootloader and latest HTC rom and I'm getting to wits end. sometimes it can be fine other times not.
some may think what is he on about but it is happening to me and I don't even think its a hardware fault either or at least I hope not as most of the time my backligt behaves! anhone got any bright ideas as to what could be causing the flicking?
I have had a problem where the keyboard, when slid out, does not light up. Is this what you mean?
If so, I went into the control panel, switched it off in the settings and then closed it all down. I then went back and enabled it, and did a soft reset when it had all calmed down. No problems since
HTH
I get a similar problem, when I have read a message and switch to landscape mode and start typing, the backlight turns off and as i continue to type it will switch itself back on.
its a pain in the arse and is one of the bugs im hoping to get rid of on a rom update.

The keyboard has a light sensor. It will only light up in dark conditions. Maybe yours is playing up, or the light conditions that your using your phone in may be the cause.
I turn my sensor off so the backlight is always on, Settings---->Buttons----->Backlight
S.K.
Its the screen backlight that goes off, not the keyboard lights.

Hello eveybody,
i have a rather serious problem with my prophet.
most of the time when i take my phone out of the pocket to use it, when i try to switch it on to use it the display comes to live for about 1/2 a second and then goes black again. in that time i can see the usual screen i was expecting but it instantly goes back to black, sometimes in good lightning i can see its just the backlight that is of but the lcd displayes correct, but sometimes the screen stays black. after a few such on-off cycles the phone starts to work normal.
the big problem is that once or twice every day it totally hangs not reacting to the power button at all, just staying black no matter how often i press "on"
i have to softreset to get the device back to working order
the green power lcd keeps blinking but thats about it.
when i get a call in that time the other party gets a normal ring, but on my side the phone does nothing, not even showing a missed call or anyting after a reset. so i will never know if i missed some call and since i can not tell how long the phone was in that "frozen" state it can bee that for half a day i did not accept any call no matter how often i was called.
is that some know side effect of flashing cooked roms or could that be a real hardware problem that i should have fixed by the vendor? could it be some "dirty" contacts that i just have to cleen?
anybody had those problems or knows a solution?
thanks in advance

hi, i have an lg g2 (d800 -att)
i recently started experiencing a problem that when i wake my device the screen will remain black (it does turn on, as in a dark room i cant see the that the backlight is on)
when in this state, i can play with the hw buttons (power, volume), and after a few tries i can get the screen to turn back on again.
this usually happens after some use, and not after the phone was idle.
i am not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue, the screen is obviously still connected because of the backlight,
i actually replaced my stock lollipop rom into cm13, and this problem persists.
did anyone experience something like that before,?
any ideas on what can i do to identify the cause of the issue?
