Wm5 Rom for Ipaq RW6828 - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Ok, well my friend is having trouble with his Ipaq RW6828 it keeps freezing up, crashing etc.
He believes it's because he upgraded it to WM6 using a Cooked Atom Rom. I told him simple things like backup, then hard reset but to no avail.
I've suggested ReFlashing a new Cooked rom. And we are waiting to see how that goes.
Is it possible to flash back to WM5? any other suggestions?

ExtROM Still Erasing Itself?

Hi all,
I unlocked the extended rom on my p3300 and had the same problem a few people had with the device wiping the erom after a hard-reset.
I've managed to re-flash the extended rom with version 1.12.405.101 as linked to on the wiki and it works. A hard-reset sets up my device with tomtom and everything else working as it should.
However, if I then do another hard-reset again, it just does the standard windows set-up but doesn't do the additional extended rom set-up. To get it to work, I have to re-flash the device each time and only the first hard-reset works as it should. It seems to be wiping my extended rom!
Can anyone please help?
I've fixed it. You need to make each file 'read-only' in winimage and it stops the artemis deleting it's own erom files when it is first ran!

WM6 problem & SPVC 500
HI,
I had the same problem and I know explanations.
Problem is in software which you installed after flashing WM6 to your SPV.
When you installing software everything is working on 100% ,but after restaring mobile
phone starting very long time ,doesn't have signal and time on main screen.
You have only one option ,re-flash WM6 again ![/COLOR]
Uninstall software hasn't influence!!!
be carefully with installation new software, I don't know where is problem exactly >
Here is list of software which is working without problems on my phone:
Extreme agenda 3.02
Smart explorer 2.1.4.553
SP Task Manager 2.1.1.315
Slovo ED
Adobe reader
Don't install :
profile switcher
cele task
If you are using different software you have only one way how to find "good" and "wrong" software.
After reflashing WM6 install only one program and restart the phone if everything will be working program is OK.
But if no you have to reflash WM6 again !!!
Be careful, all your data will be lost.
I got the same problem, after installing some software i got no network anymore.
Also the menue did not respond anymore on pressing 'Start'-button
I had to flash my Amadeus again, because also a hard-reset didn't help.
Now i think i have installed all the software again and it works still well
edit: 10 minutes after i rebooted my amadeus and BANG, nothing works anymore.
Crap.
I think the problem is 'facade', a tool to show a schedule on the homescreen.
it all works now
well, i managed to solve my problem...
the thing was to flash this WM6 and now everything works jut fine...
i can finally say that i am pleased with my c500!
Before I try this Version of WM6: Do you use Facade?
I flashed my Amadeus with WM5, installed Facade, rebooted and nothing worked. After that I flashed WM 6, did not install Facade and everything is ok
I got the same problem, but after hard reset everything was ok, so reflashing WM6 was not necessary.

Polaris constantly hard resets - wm 6.5 only

I seem to be having a problem with all of the WM6.5 Polaris ROMs. Hoping someone can help!
I first noticed the issue with Gullum's Rom, though it is still present with Belial's and Pcarvalho's
Basically soft-reset doesn't work. It will result in a hard-reset almost always. It doesn't matter if i use the soft reset pinhole or whether i use a program on the Polaris to soft-reset the device; the result is always the same - a hard reset.
In all circumstances I flashed the rom, waited until the screen alignment, hard reset (on purpose), then configured the phone.
Originally I thought the issue was because of pimbackup getting stuck sometimes and me resetting during that but it seems that even if I do not use PIM backup the phone will still hard reset it self.
The only thing that I can see being common is that the roms are all WM6.5 and all build 23016. When I downgrade to 3LIT3III (WM6.1 rom) the problem seems to go away - though I would prefer the 6.5 roms.
My phone has been flashed lots of times over the past 18 months and maybe something weird has happened. My next steps are to reflash the latest official HTC ROM in the hopes that fixes any weird things my phone might have before I try again.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate them!
Thanks,
Dom

Hi, I've done that and so far it all appears stable... but I'm worried that by saying this I've now jinxed myself
Thank you for your suggestion! If only 'Microsoft My Phone' could restore text messages faster than 1 every 3 seconds... 3500 to go!

Exactly the same for me. Have tested the "[10 Aug] WM23016_MEGAPACK_ByBelial_BETA, "[Aug 14] PDAVIET ROM WM6.5 Manila 2D (Core 21840) by TranMinhMan" and"pcarvalho eXtreme ROM 3.19 WM6.5 OS 5.2.23009" and all of them was very unstable with 3 to 5 HR pr day.
Then flash to 3LIT3III (WM6.1 rom) and it vent solid as a rock.
I'l test flashing back to original before installing 6.5 again. Thanks for the tip.
I've noticed the same problem too and this tip fixed it (so far). My sequence of flashing is slightly different but the usual suspects were all there. My question is, is it always better to flash original HTC ROM first before flashing a new cooked ROM? Or will it make no difference?

its always better as you will flash a rom to a standard rom...every device has/had an original rom to start with...so all settings are...reset
For sure
After a couple of days usage now the phone has not hard reset itself at all - which is awesome - as is your ROM (I'm using the non-3D 23106 build of yours and haven't noticed any issues that a 'soft' reset doesn't resolve )

Pcarvalho's suggestion of flashing an original HTC rom is perfect - works well.
