Hello all. I have been a huge fan of this site for years. I have worked on many HTC products useing Cabs from this site and the information has been great. I can't thank every one on this site enough for all the great work you guys/girls have done.
I have T-Mobiles Wing / HTC Harald. I have two programs to view the network folder (My Home PCs Folders.) The HTC network folder pluggin works the best. How ever I am unable to watch movies from my PC with out transfering them to the wing. I have tried the Streaming video plugin but it fails to work with this. I have also tried to force Core media player to view them but all I get is sound. Am I totally missing why this will not work? If any one can fill in the blanks for me or point me in the right direction I would be most gratefull.
there are several programs for streaming media...
i guess vlc can do it.
and there are several other programs. just goole a little.
when i find the program i tell you.
found:
http://www.orb.com/orb/
i've been doing the same too, i can stream music n etc directly but not videos, but then again its full 700mb movies..
i've also tried to get Orb to work couple of times but i just dont get it :S
I think I might have stumbled onto my own answer. I was playing with the settings in "Core Media" player. (I purchased the Official one not that there is a differance I just wanted to make sure.) Any how if I turn down the Speed to 50% it plays perfect. Not sure about the sound (Baby was sleeping while I was fooling with the Wing.) Will keep playing with it till I have it tweaked for WIFI playing.
Note: Music play back over wifi at 50% sucks hard core..... Stick with 100% for MP3s over Wifi.

Im guessing windows media player will need a driver...
I dont have my activesync working tho so Im just transferring files to my card
Get yourself a copy of TCPMP it's free & does what you ask for. Combine it with PocketDivXEncoder & you can watch (almost) everything on your PPC.
Cheets, M
I cant get them to install right! Is there not just a driver I can save and place somewhere ?
Not that I know of, you can try pocket tv for mpeg files, otherwise try googling for ppc & divx. Maybe something interesting comes up. Btw pocketdivxencoder runs on the pc.
Yeah I convertered the file to a smartphone file (I think) but I couldt get TCPMP to install
Did you go for the correct cab file? There were several versions in the zip. Or did you use the Windows installer? My magician needed something with arm & ce3 I belief, I prefer cab installs.
Hope you get it working cause it's worthwhile.
Im not sure how I can do it with activesync not installing on my computer...
If I get the cab files can I just place them in the program files somewhere ?
Yes just pick the option to download the cab installer. I got the file tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip from http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/366/tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip here.
When you unzip it there are several cab files, pick the one for the wizard & put it on your device, anywhere is ok. then click on the cab from within the wizard's file explorer to install. That should the trick. If the cab doesn't work, pick another one till it works. The cpu & OS version are important in this part.
Cheers, M
Get them into My Documents or onto your SD card using a card reader. Then double click the file in the phone's File Explorer to rrun the CAB installer.
Right one last question and i think im there... when i convert the video do i have a smartphone or a pda? Or some otehr device...
PDA
Ahhhh yey I got it to work! I thought it was just installing a codec to windows media player but its a new program right! Thanks a lot guys (n girls)
Nice to hear & have fun with it. I certainly do ;-) It's a great show off as well.
Yeah! I bet I get it nicked on the bus now!
I managed to travel to Amsterdam, by bus & train, & back watching Kuzco 2. Much more fun than reading work stuff
whats the battery life like when its playing vids? Im going to manchester soon so its a 5 hour coach journey
My magician battery claims about 5hours use, but playing movies I guess it will reduce seriously. Haven't done enough testing with it. Try it by having a movie playing & keep an eye on the battery, a wizard might be better off in this. For serious power: the mugen replacements get good critics, though not very cheap.
I managed a three hour trip today with movie, mp3, e-mail & internet by gprs. So if you've got a small extra mp3 player you must be able to survive the coach trip.
last advice: Experiment with sound settings first, the default were awfull & mono with pocketdivxencoder. No advice for settings as I'm experimenting too ;-)
can it play movies in fullscreen? and can someone post some pics of the wizard playing a movie in fullscreen. tnx!
full-screen
Yes it will do full-screen playback, just like MediaPlayer.
I'd say it yourself the program is free & small. I'm sure you'll be satisfied.
M
can someone post some screenshots of the wizard playing video in fullscreen? btw hows the picture quality of the videos in fullscreen?
right when I try to watch streaming video it opens realplayer, which won't play it? I want window streming media play back!
how do I make that the defult? or remove realplayer?
it doesn't show in the add/remove programes and if I serach file exp for real or realplayer it finds nothing!
messed about last night for a few hours still can get rid off it?
i second this does anyone know how to get 3gp streaming(rtsp) to work. I always get an error. i have taken off both proxys (hardcoded) and still get nothing. im still using the att rom
u need a rom that has streaming media.. most of the WM6 roms have streaming media.. I had that problem until I upgraded again to WM6.. now it works fine..
I also found that streaming media doesn't work for me straight off - I have to tell it which connection to use by going into it and then into options. Once I did this, it worked OK
Smiffy.

help me, i face the same issue!
Hi anyone know of a good open source, free internet radio streamer? the microsoft one is so poor its unreal. I would like to have something a little better.
regards
Hi Aley,
I'm using MORT Player since Years. You only have to find out the steaming URL and edit the Mort Player Internet-Radio List. It's so easy and there are a lot more functions!
I never used WinAmp.
Chears,
Vitkor
Try KinomaFreeplay. Works very well.

I use the free GSPlayer, it handles all my MP3 and OGG streams.
Thanks guys for the great posts, is there a way to import these links/ favs to the players or must i manually go to the folder where i saved them to and copy them from the device to pc and visa versa
Here are some good websites for music:
1. http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/
This site is the best of the three and offers more streams than the other two combined so be sure to check this one out first. This site plays the streams in windows media player.
2. http://www.mobtuner.com/
3. http://www.htcradio.com/
These sites work well with GS Player and yes you can save the music streams locations right to your phone to load up quickly with GS Player.
the pandora client works nicely for me. I can post the cab here if you guys cant find it
I vote for GSPlayer. It faster, has less hangups and is easier to use to browse to my radio links folder.
all the above programs are good for streaming radio..... but i've just tried pocketlastfm which works like pandora but you can use it outside of the US. you put in a genre or artist and it continually plays tracks from similar artists/genres...... it's really good!

I´m trying to find the cab for Pandora.
I´ve found one but it seems that it´s not working fine on the Diamond. Some errors on the start screen visual basic lines... I hit ignore and it appears it connected just fine. I managed to get the keyboard out to log me into pandora, and I could see my radio stations, but when tryied to hear to one of them, it hang out on "connecting"...
Can you post your cab here? or can you pm me with the cab?
Thanks.
kick in the $30 and get Kinoma. Totally worth it!
Hi,
Wunder radio. Loads of stations from around the world. Small fee, around £10, perhaps just under.
I have a bunch of radio channels that I love to use. Unfortunately my standard players (Pocket Music and Pocket Player) won't work. The HD2 turns off after a few minutes no matter what I set the power settings to. So I tried to stream with the built in Streaming Media Player, but couldn't get anywhere. The stations I use are OGG. what formats can this player play? Only the rather obscure RTSP from streaming media players?
Try TCPMP.
But isn't OGG a wave format?
No idea... But TCPMP doesn't work because it turns off after a few minutes, like all other third party players. But I have heard that Kinoma play doesn't do that. I may make an attempt with a trial version of that.
Yeah I've noticed this morning that it does stop playing if you turn off the screen. What works for me is to leave the screen on. It doesn't fall asleep while playing. Would that be an option for you?
Yeah, that would be an option. Just not a very good one, since it will eat the battery faster. I guess I may have to get myself an extra battery. Totally idiotic to have an error like that in such a great phone!
I don't think it's an error. I think it's some sort of timeout that the Sense player can handle (reset) but other players can't.
I have solved the problem! Turned out that it could be fixed by using the cab from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5353195 That keeps the WiFi connection alive even if the phone is suspended or whatever you want to call the "sort of sleeping" that happens when you're playing something. Now I stream until the battery dies!
Nice find!
But... isn't keeping Wifi on the whole time more energy consuming than leaving the screen on (dimmed) when playing music?
Regular music playback isn't affected of this problem. That will keep playing if you suspend. The problem is streaming, and at least for me streaming means WiFi. So it's actually a step down in power usage from having both the screen and the Wifi on to only the Wifi.
In that case you and I have different problems. My music (from the storagecard) stops playing after about 2 minutes but only if I use my bluetooth carkit to listen. If I play music on the HD2's speaker the music stops almost immediately after turning off the screen. I read that Mortplayer shouldn't have this issue.
It's probably the WiFi and the bluetooth connections that keep the HD2 alive for some minutes and after their timeout puts the phone to sleep.
There's probably a similar registry key hack that will fix that for you. I hope somebody finds it!

Hi Mastiff, what app did you find best to use with streaming radio? Would be great if you could share some setting or xml file that contain radio stations list, so that I do not need to collect them from scratch (I live in Norway too..)
Actually I think I remember you from earlier! I use Windows Media Player, "Det enkleste er ofte det beste". Of course I use Pocket Music for anything else of music (video I watch in my home theater with a 2,5 meter wide screen, not on a cell phone!). As for my sttaions I simply use a reg file that puts the few stations I listen to (I'm a boring dude, I prefer news and facts, not music programs). Make this into a reg file and import it (P3 is there before I do actually listen to Pyro sometimes...):
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\OpenUrlMRU]
"3"="http://straumr.nrk.no/nrk_radio_p3_m"
"2"="http://straumr.nrk.no/nrk_radio_alltid_nyheter_m"
"1"="http://straumr.nrk.no/nrk_radio_p2_m"
"0"="http://straumr.nrk.no/nrk_radio_p1_m"
Editing Registry... Thought some text or xml file with all settings could be kept... Anyway, I went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences , but there is not OpenUrlMRU key there. Should I create new one? Not sure how to enter those HTTP references into registry...
No, you don't have to edit anything. The text is in the correct format to be imported, you copy from "REGEDIT" and down, with the last ". But you ned a program like Tascal RegEdit to import reg files. I didn't mention that because I'm so used to it. Sorry.
To my surprise I found out yesterday that turning off the screen while playing music over my bluetooth car stereo did not affect the music. It kept playing, while previously it stopped after a couple of minutes. I'm still using TCPMP.
And you haven't changed anything? I guess it's those HTC Gremlins again...or was that leprechauns?
Well I was forced to perform a hard reset a week ago, enabling myself to make a decent tweak list for my phone. As long as the HTC Langoliers stay away I'm OK with it . I'm still using a stock 1.66 Dutch rom.
I've used a few solutions that stream your MP3's to your phone. but none of them seem to have a feature im looking for. All i want to do is be able to randomly play the entire collection. I've tried subsonic, but it downloads everything to the actual phone which is annoying. mecanto can't play everything at once, even with a playlist and its missing a search function if i wanna play something specific. I used to use Orb with some play on my touch pro i forgot, that worked kinda well except it buffered like a mofo. Any other suggestions out there? I was thinking of setting up an ampache server but i'd need to learn how to setup a server first >.>
Try using Homepipe, download the app free from market then go to the website on your computer and you just add what folders you want to share. After doing that you can stream mp3s, and download videos or other files to your phone and vice versa. It takes like 5 minutes to setup
