Installing XDA Cooked Skins - Mogul, XV6800 General

Device: Bell Mobility HTC 6800
User's skins replacing experience (scale of 1-10): 2
Wishing to replace: Standard HTC dialpad with reTouched diapad skin.
Problem: Fearful that skin won't uninstall if required.
Preparation & Testing: Performed a full backup using SKTools but don't know which files I would need to restore if I had to. Installed the reTouched cab on a Windows Mobile Emulator but uninstall screwed up the dialpad.
Any help much appreciated.

Happy New Year!!! WM5 Architect Theme Phone Pad

I've created the phone pad to go with the included "Architecture" theme in WM5. So you won't have to use the default blue stye phone pad which is quite out of place with the "Architecture" theme.
Just copy the cab to your PPC and click it. Uninstall from "Remove Program" utility will restore the original pad!
Please soft reset after install for the pad to take effect. Same for uninstalling.
Enjoy!

A screen shot is attached for preview here.
Would it be possible to use it on a WM2003SE device namely HTC MAGICIAN?

I'm not sure, but you can try. If it doesn't work, just uninstall it.

***panosha Butterfly, Clean ROM***

Clean ROM !!!
This ROM is based on official HTC WWE 1.25.405.1 / 5.2.1623 OS (build 18129.0.4.5) ROM and does not include radio.
First you must flash HardSPL from here thanks Olipro.
After unzipping the file you have downloaded, you must run from your desktop PC the ROMUpdateUtility.exe with your device in bootloader (pres and hold camera button and do a soft reset) with the battery above the 50%. Follow the instructions on the screen.
The ROM is fast, stable with some registry tweaks and modifications, includes only the essential files.
Recommended for experienced users who can easily install their favorite programs.
The device starts with 148,54 from 152,34 MB storage and ~71 from 100,77 MB programs memory.

You have 2 SIM Manager shortcuts in Programs, one in main and another one in Accessories folder. You can delete one of them without risk.
With resco explorer go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Here you can rename empty Games folder in Apps.
Use Accessories & Apps folders to move here shortcuts from Windows\Start Menu\Programs.

Thank you Panosha - truly excellent !! Exactly what I had hoped for.
Even your Registry tweaks saves me some effort. I also use a phone skin that I found through the Eten forum (zpleaf.cab) and some other registry edits, but your Butterfly ROM is perfect.
Your Splash screen is way more visually interesting than the original from HTC as well.
Dancing with the ROMs!!!
keep up the good work

OK, here's where I'm at with this excellent ROM:
1) I confirm that Oxios memory does *not* work with the P3650. Installs ok, and all registry entries/values are the same as those on a WM6 device where the program does work, but it will simply not start
2) Both Sprite Backup 6.1.0 and Spb Backup 1.6.3 do *not* work with the P3650. Both install ok, but Sprite just says "unexpected error" and Spb complains it can't read the sfx module (whatever that is). Spb Clone also falls over with a pathetic message "cannot generate cloned image". Suprisingly, Sunnysoft Backup 4.0.0.2 does work (it's the only one here not specifically aimed at WM6 !)
3) The P3650 GPS works ok with later programs (not just SatNav), but earlier programs (ie. before WM5) have problems, because they need a hardware port to connect to (they are unaware of "Windows automatic management") and the P3650 GPS chip does not supply a hardware port for them
4) phone (inc 3G/HSDPA), BT, WLAN, GPS, SDHC (8Gb card) all work ok
5) I've made some inroads into building my installation, and Storage stands at ~143Mb, with RAM ~68Mb
6) speed/response are very, very good
Maybe this device will do ... I'm still some way from the "entertainment" section (not very important to me) but progress is steady now I'm sure of at least 1 working backup/restore program

I have seen this messege in the past in my kaiser withe some setups, without explanations. Right now Sprite backup 6.1.0 build 2192 works perfect.
Thanks for your support.
WHere to find touch keyboard? This is pretty important piece!
Official install though, not one in kaiser forum cab list.. does not work right.
------------------
lol but has other stuff in it only need keyboard!
oh well i try both at some point!
Sorry, this is clean ROM. I don't have official touch keyboard in cab file.

Yes, but unhappily Sprite 6.1.0 build 2192 is the one that falls over on me. However, Sunnysoft 4.0.0.2 has proved reliable.
Next step - and I'm sure this is not your Butterfly ROM: some programs simply will not install on the card; install messages say they do, but the card exe files are somehow corrupted, minus their icon, and very slow to directory list. Such programs do install OK on Storage, but I cannot find a pattern yet as to which ones show this behaviour. I have analysed the card (8Gb SDHC) for bad sectors, both on the device and on my PC, but this is not the cause.
Examples so far ? VM Network Browser, Engineering Calc, SciCalc, Pocket Mechanic, Resco Explorer. All of these installed on the card in the X500 and P3600i WM6 and worked without fuss. At this point, I think this a P3650 characteristic that I do not understand. Perhaps it is tied into how the device uses RAM/Flash: I've been using SKTools to check RAM leakage periodically, but this has been tiny so far (~50Kb) compared to both the X500 and P3600i (~2000Kb).
I also feel the Radio ROM is buggy - sometimes works at g speeds, sometimes not, this seems random. I vaguely remember a post about last November attributing the late retail release of the device to HTC having large problems with the Radio ROM ... maybe so ?

Later ... I have no real idea at all why this worked, but the problem described above was steadily worsening (time to kick the garden gnome !!), so in desperation:
1) I noted one such installed program on the card that was misbehaving (no icon, slow and corrupted behaviour)
2) removed the card from the P3650 and stuck it into my X500 to see if *that* device saw it as corrupted. Nope - program perfect and ran ok
3) put the card back in the P3650 and all the bad behaviour was gone !!
No real clue, maybe the X500 treatment changed an essential byte ? I'll leave it to the experts, I'm just adding programs mechanically now
Can you send me one or two of these programs ?

Yes, of course - some are simple freeware (like EngCalc http://www.freewareppc.com/calculator/engineeringcalculator.shtml) but the problem is gone. It was not your ROM, that is brilliant !!
I put the card in the X500 device and installed one of these programs. It installed and ran perfectly. So I transferred the card back to the P3650 and everything worked perfectly again (Sprite, Spb Backup & Clone all work now)
My best guess is that installation in the X500 re-wrote some essential byte in the card FAT ...
I am grateful for your ROM, I am building a very useful device with it
Does this ROM still have the Touch keypad? Not the Touch keyboard.
No Touch keypad.
Do you know where it can be found?
Can anyone please explain to me what SAPSettings is? And what does it mean when radio is removed? What's the point of radio?
Radio waves are used to transmit voice and data between the device and the networks. Without radio, you've paid a lot of money for not a lot!

Solved: I need help with the cube (howto, faman 4.02)

Hello.
After hours and hours looking for a pretty cube effect for my Trinity, I don't found a solution.
I have a Faman Spanish 4.02 (WM6), it runs ok. I downloaded differents .cab for TouchFlo and the Cube, but don't work. I think I'm a little lost in what I must do.
Somebody can help me? Please, link to any post wich really explain how to install cube-effect or put the link to applications here, I'm lost with the different versions
Thanks a lot!!!
Hello again. I'm still looking for the cube.
I read that i need to install TouchFlo, and I have tried with FTouchFlo. I do softreset and... nothing. After it, I read that I need to install Flash Cube too, because it's said that is faster than the original one but... There is a lot of posts where is used but I don't find how to install it.
Finally I just found HTC TouchFLO Cube Ctrl at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583 but i don't know if it is what I want. I'm going to try it..
The instructions of HTC TouchFlo Cube Ctrl says:
1. You need to already have the HTC TouchFLO cube software installed
and operating on your device. This includes the apps:
ApLauncher.exe, QuickDial.exe, MediaHubMini.exe, and Biotouch.exe
2. You need to have FTouchFlo installed and working on your device.
I tested with the latest version v1.4.1
I don't find the archives of the point one, so I looked the interventios of FAMAN and I found the FTouchFloCubeESv3.cab that I'm going to try a this moment. Any other idea?
Bah, I desist.
No way, I can't do work the cube. In addition, I downloaded FTouchFloCubeESv3.cab from a external page and it changed my Trinity password (I flashed again and ok). The password change don't happens with the file linked in the xda-forums, I checked it. If somebody can do a little howto, step by step, I'll try it again...
Thanks in anyway.
I'm lucky. Just when I went to uninstall... Surprise! It Works!
Mini How-to:
Download Faman's FTouchFloCubeESv3.cab only from xda-forums (external links may block your Trinity): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1694816&postcount=126 and install it. With this, you completed step 1 of the of HTC TouchFlo Cube.
Install FTouchFLO from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143
Install HTC TouchFLO Cube Ctrl from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583 (read instructions)
Install sdkcerts.cab from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2064462&postcount=16
Softreset and... done! Remenber: quick-gestures and with moderate pression.

Having some Q and ned help !!!

1-what is ROM ?
2-if it put tf3d rom or another it will delete all files in the system ( like hard reset ) ?
3-is tf3d is like a panel ( spb mobile shell ) or will delete windows mobile system?
4-what is GeoTagging in camera ?
thanks
From what ive gathered by using roms my self... i have found the following:
1. What is a rom?
it is basically the thing that make the user interface look the way it looks. The default windows today panel is the default rom which the phone comes with. TF3D rom will replace that and make it look like a HTC Touch HD. you can install it as a panel by following this link-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441439&highlight=tf3d+panel
Download TouchFlo3D on Xperia X1 cab and TouchFlo3D as Panel Installer Installer.
Install TF3d first, softreset, then go to settings, today, items and untick every thing. then soft reset.
Now install TF3d panel installer. soft reset. then just choose the panelas younormally would.
2. A rom will edit certain windows files to make it look and behave in a different way, but it would still be the windows interface. if you install another rom, it will erase all files on phone. and replace certain windows files.
3. see q 1
4. Dont know what geo tagging is??
thanks alot
but when i install the tochflo 3d beta 3 and made everything then when i press on the panel it writes to me loading in a white screen and notheing occure ??

Software Install "unsuccessful" Errors

Okay, I've been playing with my new Rhodium quite a bit-- and I keep encountering a number of "Installation of ____ was unsuccessful" errors when installing various programs that worked on my original AT&T Tilt.
The perfect example was just now when I tried to install "Resco Explorer 2008 Trial" from the cab file off their website. I've also encountered this type of error when installing total commander and a number of others on skyler17's "Software worth installing on the TP2" post. I've hard re-set a number of times with the same results. Yet, only a few others like Skype & Swype install just fine.
Are the errors a publisher certificate issue with WinMo 6.5?
Any ideas of how to work around these errors?
My current device info--
Phone: AT&T Tilt 2 (HTC Rhodium)
ROM: Stock, AT&T 1.59.502.5 (67150) (9/25/09)
Radio: 4.48.25.50
Thank you for your help!
Note: The only "advance" thing I've done is flash the "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL", but I'm still running the stock AT&T Rom. (The stall in me flashing a new ROM is mainly b/c I'm having trouble finding a full stock AT&T copy to re-flash in case I don't care for some of the cooked ROMs-- but that's another issue...).
Okay, how about this-- Is anyone else have these issues or is it just my device?
I'm having it but only on one application I am trying to install.
It states that it doesn't have authorised permissions or something like that. All the other apps can be installed normally though.

I have the AT&T Tilt 2
stock ROM 1.59.502.3 (67150) WWE 09/25/09
Radio 4.48.25.20
Have applied the same "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL" without issue, and also have not yet changed up my ROM. I have tweaked the TF3D though.. applied Co0kieMonster's HQ wallpaper patch and using HDWall. Installed (removed, installed, etc) numerous applications without incident other than a warning the cab's are unsigned, they let me install and work just fine, though.
.
Okay-- I figured it out.
The software installations issues were from an older Microsoft .NET Compact Framework (v2.0.7045.00) that the AT&T Tilt2 comes with.
Why the Tilt 2 is not shipped with the newer MS .NET Compact Framework (v3.5.7283.00) is beyond me. The real challenge was getting the new .NET to fully install & run properly. After a bunch of reading-- here is the proper way to get it to work.
To install Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 on your device:
1. Download .NET Compact Framework 3.5 from Microsoft
2. Run the downloaded MSI file and let it install.
3. Connect your device to Activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center and finish the automatically launched installation on your device.
4. Soft reset your device. (this is a must)
5. Open a Registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework where you will see two entries for the (now two) existing version references: the old one, which came with your device and the new one you just installed.
6. Change the DWord value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 (thus enabling it) and all the other values (i.e.: 2.0.7045.00) from 1 to 0 (thus disabling it/them).
7. Soft reset your device.
8. Congratulations! You have upgraded to .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
Thank you pocketnow.com for the guide.
Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3 now runs as well as all my other software I was having trouble installing/running.
Here is the Registry Editor 0.9 beta I used (free from TouchXperience.com)
Hopefully this will help other with software installation issues and other users having difficulty installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
