Hi
Is it possible to use the standard web'n'walk for 7.50 a month for MSN messenger?
in the terms and conditions it states its not covered but i was wondering if anyone had some sort of hack for it? to get around the proxy or something
is this possible?
No. Windows Live Messenger Mobile application cannot pass through an HTTP or SOCKS proxy. The protocol differs, and it's not implemented. That's why a hack would not be possible.

and

..but don't expect something easy for the average user, it's more than "advanced". Sorry i cannot explain better than of what i did on my blog (really no time at all...) so good luck!

Ive tried a few things since I wanted to use IRC, and possibly hook the laptop up for normal web....but nothing worked.
In the end ive settled to paying the extra for wnw+....totally worth it for the amount i use it.

what's the best Messenger app?
I've tried the following.
- WebMessenger: sucks cause you have to login to there server and rely on them to connect to AIM, YMSG, Etc
- Agile Messenger: font is way to small to read and use.
- AOL's AIM Pocket Pc: old app for 2003, works nicely but boots off other desktop connection. It needs to be updated.
- OZ IM: Doesn't work unless you have T-zone
any others i can try?
AgileMessenger is the best. IF you find that font too small, change your glasses.
i use verichat by pdaapps.com. I like that one alot. have tried most of the others, and think this one is the best.

I personally use Verichat...but quite honestly, I'm thinking about switiching back to the good ol Hiptop for reliability reasons (geez..did I just say "hiptop" and "reliability" in the same sentence without a negative precursor?).
If you could email me AIM PPC 2003, I'll email you back a cookie . Seriously, I'll hook ya up with something if it will work for me. I dl'd AIM off the UK site, and there was no bottom bar...which meant I could be online, but not go away, etc. Highly disappointing.
how can i make it so i can use agile over EDGE?.. im only able to make it work over WiFi.
the new agile beta is great, I use it on edge!

Can you pls provide more details... do you have Full Internet plan with T-Mo? or are u using T-MobileWeb ($5.99) plan?
I have T-MobileWeb and near Detroit area, Agile does not work over GPRS/EDGE (I get EDGE here). Only works over WiFi
yeah i only have the 5.99 tmobile web plan. and can not get that to work using EDGE. is that why?
got it!! thanks
Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
These can all be answered yourself with a search as well; with 48 posts, one would think it was known already.

HI.THNX MUCH
I forgot to mention:
The only difference is that after every ~1MB of content downloaded, the connection restarts. When browsing web pages, it is not noticable, however, when streaming audio it will re buffer every 1MB (which for 32kbps, come out to about every 7 mins).
I've read about the tzones hack and it seems like its a pain. I mean I'm all for saving money and $5.99 compared to $29.99 is a big difference, but is it really worth it?
The 'T-Zones' hack (actually the feature is now called 'TMobileWeb') works great if you take into the lmitation of the Proxy server port restrictions and the 900k limit on a continuous stream of data.
If you just need to browse the web it works great. If you are into streaming audio, then it can be a pain. At around 900k I get an error that I have to disconnect and reconnect to overcome. I can't use my favorite IM program because it does not support a proxy.
Is it worth the hassle? I guess it really depends on your needs.
Just as long as the program that is being used has a proxy setting option, then it will work for Tzones. I had no difficulties getting Tzones to work and the only complaint that i have is with streaming audio (which i rarely do since i bought the 2GB miniSD card). When streaming audio, it is not needed to reconnect the whole edge connection, but only re buffering the song is needed, then it'll play for another 7 minutes or however long 900KB of data takes to stream. IMO, the huge savings of $24 per month is golden, there is not anything really different besides not having access to hotspots.
so I can use the hacked version of AIM and internet explorer at the same time, and also have an exchange server set up without changing the proxy?

Definitely. I'm using the hacked AIM and I am able to use PIE at the same time.

Not too sure about this one, i'm using a POP account and having my phone send and receive every 15mins to check for mail, which then downloads and shows in my inbox (labeled Comcast on my device). Search around for the exchange server question, I read it somewhere in a thread with a tzones topic but i wasn't too interested in it so i skimmed through it.

What I am saying though is that mine stops at 900k and gives an error that the server is not responding or is busy. I then have to re-establish my stream to continue.
I wish mine would simply buffer.....consider yourself lucky. It seems that some people don't suffer the same limitations as others. It varies by area it would seem.
what is the t-zone hack? thanks
I got it and it's running great
But I can't log into my messenger .....
help , please
Where are the settings I have not seen them on the topic. The one I use is
Proxy Settings
[email protected]
and the waps are
wap.voicestream.com
Is this is what everyone is using? if not please post the other hack.
yea post the hacks please, thanks

Damm it man either I jinxed myself or you did lol Access denied as well
yeah, i think t-mobile is catching on to this workaround. The funny thing about this is that I am able to access AIM, check my mail, and do other things, except browse the internet with any web browser. T-Mobile is probably putting restrictions into url searches. I'm not exactly sure how this whole thingamajiggy works, but i guess they're blocking web browsing, and want us to use T-Mobile Data, for 29.99.
that really sucks, i've only had the mda for about 2 1/2 months.
Still working great for me. I doubt that they will do away with the proxy server because even the most basic phone now days support full HTML browsing. They would also have to introduce some intermediate feature (between the $6.00 Tmobileweb and $20.00 balackberry) to compete with everyone else if they did.
I am trying to get my internet apps to run using this proxy setting but the only thing that works is the internet explorer. I have the network management pointing to my tmobile data setting that containes the proxy. Any one have a solution for this?
well I did a search and didn't find out exactly what I wanted so I'll ask it. I think I know the answer but wanted to make sure.
I have have the $5.99 t-mobileweb plan on my MDA using the proxy. After the May 9th patch, obviously only basic ports are allowed now. I can still use the OZ IM that came on the MDA but the MSN Messenger will not connect. I assume this is because it uses full data (as opposed to SMS with OZ) and it uses a non standard port. Is there any way around this without upgrading my plan? Is there possibly another MSN or IM application that uses SMS only or that the ports can be changed on how they connect?
You're doing good if you can even get anything to connect. I cant even get to the t-zones. ie just says opening and then it sticks there after I click the t-zone link. Eventually it comes up with a pop up box that says that it lost the connection, to try again later.
Nevermind, fixed that using the proxy settings. I don't know what to tell you about your MSN messenger though. You'd think they would still allow that connection. You might try IM+ it has msn built in and has a free trial.

Is anyone able to tell me if Blackberry is going to work on a Polaris? And what's the difference (if any) between Blackberry Service & Blackberry Connect.
Basically I want to be able to use the Polaris with my corporate BB server.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Plz, dont ask anything concerning BB in this forum... u r really off topic.
HTC has push email (and contacts, pim, etc...) like BB. Just check here:
https://secure.europe.htc.com/en/htcmail/index.html
So the answer is: YES, u can act your HTC like u can do on a BB
Anyone still using HTCmail after the trial period? I can't seem to find how much it costs.

I think the question is valid. I have had a PDA for years and have moved through different version of device and OS. I love the features you get (including stylus/touchdrive screen) the ability to add many applications/themes and even upgrade to new roms etc not to mention Tomtom/GPS and push email from exchange.
I love the exchange push but my company are against it as they have been blackberry for a while and are worried about security/viruses and control of devices.
I recently was given a Blackberry from work which just turns out to be a basic phone with email...they work great but i cannot do much else. I have no memory expansion, MP3 player, not much decent addon applications, rubbish themes and no touch screen.
I would love to take the sim with its data tariff and put it in my Wizard or Universal or even my old XDA2 and use it for the blackberry service. I cant use it for excahnge push a it is disabled at the corporate end and if it was available would cost a fortune as the blackberry GPRS tariff charges extra for any data not going over blackberry.
I am stuck with 2 devices where I would dearly like to have one. That one would not be a blackberry but a fantastic WM6, touch screen, Satnav, Audio player, Camera, media viewer, media streamer from my home PC, media streamer from the internet over Wifi or GPRS, web browser, bluetooth stereo headset, voice dialing.....oh, and email from blackberry connect with my company SIM would be nice.
I think I am getting a bit bitter about this.........Sorry for the rant....I realy want Blackberry Connect V4 on my wizard.
Sorry if this is the wrong thread (mods, feel free to delete/move or tell me where I *should post), but . . .
HTC Mail is no good for me as it costs money. My company wants to give me a Blackberry but, like OhtwoXCDA2, I want a 'real' device. So, I'm hoping that the free BB Connect will allow me to get mail from my corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server to the Polaris.
And, to answer my own post, a friend who knows about this stuff assures me that you can simply install BB Connect on a WM6 device, enter the PIN fom the BES and everything will be rosey.
Confirmation from anyone else would be nice.
p.s. there's also a thread going on here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360114
Blackberry Mobile definitely works with the Kaiser, so I can't see any reason (by looking at the specification comparison to the Polaris) why it would not work on the Polaris.

I still have the AIM 2.0 for Mobile - however, it is too large to attach here, so, if you want, PM me your email address and I will send it to you. It is the free English UK AIM for Mobile 2.0 if that is what you're looking for. It connects using your active internet connection.
I just wonder if another Messenger application wouldn't be better? Such as IM++ or Agile Messenger?
You can get it off their website or check my signature for alternatives (such as Slick, Jivetalk, etc).
Yeah it is as easy as re-downloading it from AIM.com
