No device information - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have a Herm200 flashed with official WM6 ROM (from HTC) and with HardSPLv7...
When I start Device Information I get corrupted data like this (I've listed all the tabs):
ROM version: <blank>
ROM date: <blank>
Radio version: <blank>
Protocol version: <blank>
CPU: <garbage>
Speed: <garbage>
RAM size: 6881394 MB
Flash size: 7602288 MB
Data bus: <garbage> bits
Storage size: 48.96 MB
Display resolution: <garbage>
Colors: 2080925184
Model No: <blank>
Platform: PocketPC
IMEI: <blank>
Incoming: Unknown
Outgoing: Unknown
Other that that, everything is working fine (phone, bluetooth, wifi)
Any ideas on what might be the problem? Do I need to reflash it? Or just a hard reset?
---
The problem was with JUVS HTC Home.v2_1_1005722_s0.cab As soon as I've uninstalled it the problem disappeared... Any idea as to why this happened?

Thank you for figuring out the solution.
I have the 8525 with official HTC WM6 rom upgrade and have this EXACT problem. It's been driving me crazy since I first noticed it.
The only difference is that I'm using the xplode HTC Home - All Device Fixed version.
If anyone has an idea as to what causes this and if there is a way to fix it without removing HTC Home I'd appreciate it.
As mentioned above the phone seems to work fine except I do see occasional glitches with other information on the phone etc and wonder if it is a result of this problem.
EDIT:: 03-22-08
I think I may have just found something. I was in the registry and decided to check the HTC HOME Reg Keys. Under this key I found something strange
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome\PROFILE\AUTO\] There are three items.
One is "Disp" with no values
another is "Type" with DWord value of 0x0 (0)
The other that is interesting is
"Path" with several boxes for the value data which is identical to many of the items under Device Information.
Could someone that is running HTC home on Cingular/AT&T official WM6 Rom please check your device info to ensure it is correct and then check those registry values and post results?
Thanks

I'm not running AT&T rom but the path entry is blank on mine, not sure if that helps you.

Thank you. I did recently try blanking it out to see what would happen and still had the same problem with the Device Info app.
I've also tried stopping the HTCHome.dll's and doing a soft reset and still had the issue of no information.
I'll post if I find something.

Problem on sms messaging

I can see what sms message I received, but after I click on the sms message to view it's content, it just showed a blank white screen. Just to reply and create a new text message. It also appear a blank screen.
Any idea hoe to solve the problem ?
what ROM are you using? give us details on your prophet...
This is most likely related to the CE-Star Chinese product. When it installs, it places a wince.nls file in the \Temp directory of the device, along with a registry setting under HKLM\Software\Mobem\CE-Star -- MyNLS="\Temp\wince.nls"
After some experiments, it seems that even if you want to move or rename this file, regardless of whether you update the registry setting, it is not possible to do so without affecting the messaging application. I would suspect that somewhere in some of the CE-Star logic is a hard-coded reference to that location.
Solution: If you have CE-Star installed, and are loading the NLS file via the DynaNls.lnk file in \Windows\StartUp, then ensure the registry setting (documented above) is set to "\Temp\wince.nls", and ensure that the wince.nls file installed by the CE-Star application resides in the \Temp directory.
Note: I use the trial version of this product (limited to 50 characters input). I'm not sure whether modifying these settings for the registered version will remove this hard-coded limitation. Personally, I like to only have temporary files in my \Temp folder.

Herald losing SMS settings

Hi there
I have a strange issue with my HTC Herald.
Whenever i soft-reset, the "Text Messages service center" setting is lost (Under Phone -> Services -> Voice Mail and Text Messages .
I've had this problem since i bought my Pda, and was wondering if anyone else encountered this annoyance.
If anyone knows where this setting is stored (registry or file), maybe i can find a way to make a startup script to auto-apply it on reset or something...
Btw, in case this is related to the problem, i'll post the Device Information
ROM Version: 1.8.415.2 WWE
ROM Date : 11/03/06
Radio Version: 02.71.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.31
ExtROM version: 1.8.415.102
Thanks!

**NOOB**

Hey guys and gals.
I've just got an i-mate pocket pc and I want to upgrade it to wm6.
I started out looking in the official places (club i-mate etc.) and flashed it with the latest firmware available there, but unfortunately it's still wm2003.
From what I've read here and on buzzdev.net I'm guessing it's considered a himalaya, but I really have no clue what that means.
Info on the device is:
Version:
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM date: 03/15/04
Radio version: 1.14.00
Protocol version: 1337.24
ExtROM version: 1.72.800
Hardware:
CPU: Intel(R) PXA263
Speed: 400 MHz
RAM size: 128 MB
Flash size: 32 MB
Flash chip type: 28F128K3
Data bus: 32 bits
Storage size: 14.75 MB
LCD: 240 x 320 TFT
Colors: 65536
Identity:
Model No.: PH10B
Platform: PocketPC
IMEI: 3159***********
Or at least that's what the OS reports.
When I opened it up to clean it I noticed it had HTC chips in it so I don't know...
Any info as to where to start and what I need to know before I do would be appreciated.
P.S. I've attached a photo of it if it'll help with identification.

the rom packet include a readme text file which describe step by step how you do it
Ah... Thanks.
Just a quick Q:
What ROM packet should I download?
**EDIT
Nevermind that... I'm downloading the ROM packet now...
Thanks again

Yeah... I did manage to upgrade... It's fairly simple if you just follow the instructions in the rom packet step by step

It's a LOT quicker than wm2003. Unfortunately I've never used wm5 on this device so i can't compare

From what i understand, the extrom is used to automatically install the applications inside it when the device is reset or loses it's memory.
The extrom version on your device is blank because that section of the rom was added to the main rom storage area to make space for wm5/6.
I don't know about removing the ramdisk but it was mentioned somewhere in the thread Rudegar pointed me to (see above)

GPS - Stopped working completly :(

I have an Orange M700. Ages ago I flashed it with Schaps 4.30 WM6 ROM. I have been using this for over a year without any problem.
I have been using VisualGPS/Garmin/TomTom all without issue.
I went to try and use the GPS today and none of the applications see the GPS device. VistualGPS does a scan and scan find any devices on any ports
I have tried using the HTC GPS TOOL and cannot get it to connect.
I have tried changing the config but at the moment its set to
ROM Version: Schap's 4.30
ROM date: 6/29/07
Radio version 1.16.00.00
Protocol version: 32.53.701801H
I have tried a hard reset to clear it up but it still does not work. I get a feeling its died - anyone got any ideas on what else i can try?
Have the settings in Start->Settings->Connections->GPS done anything?
Have you checked the COM port settings?
Your radio ROM looks very old. Try installing the latest 1.56.70.11 - it works great for me. You could also try the latest tnyynt's TNYSTD WM6.1 ROM, that has GPS working by default with no setup needed, so at least then you'll know the hardware is ok.
But before you flash any new ROMs, you can check your GPS settings with HTC's "External GPS" application. Here are my settings:
GPS program port: GPD1
GPS hardware port: COM9
Baud rate: 115200
And tick the "Manage GPS automatically (recommended)" tickbox.
Cheers for thr advice. In the end I ended up flashing the radio to a later rom. It didn't appear to fix it but then started from scratch with a hard reset (even though I had done these on a previous radio version) but then it appeared to start working
Then just restored my system backup and got it all back and working.
Think I will look at a 6.1 rom soon too

[Q] Different Rom behaviour or Registry setting matter?

Hi all,
I am not sure if here is the right place where to place my question, but I try...
After I buyed a Blackstone with:
ROM Version 1.13.401.0 (20428)ITA
ROM Date 10/25/08
Radio Version 1.09.25.14
Protocol Version: 52.49a.25.26W
I installed a navigation software (OziExplorerCE), and with my great pleasant surprise I noted that after I launched it, even if I place the device in Stand-by mode (brief push on Power button), the program was continuing to work regularily (included gps connection of course).
So, when I was pushing again the power button to power-on the device, I was founding that while in the Stand-by status, OziExplorer have continued to work exactely as the normal (display-on) status, also writing road-track in the file.
I found this behaviour very useful in some case.
After I Updated the Rom (official) with :
ROM Version 1.56.401.0 (43972) WWE
ROM Date 03/06/09
Radio Version 1.13.25.24
Protocol Version 52.62,25.34U
I re-installed again the same program, but I noted that when I place the device in stand-by status, it stop to work (may be it lose gps connection??).
I am very sorry for this behaviour, and I hope that someone can help me on how to come-back to the previous behaviour.
Of course, I don't know if the different behaviour is caused by some change in the ROM or something that must be modified in the registry (I hope so).
I must also add that I noted another difference:
With the previous Rom, when I was launching OziExplorer, I was noting that also ActiveSync was present in the "active processes" list.
While with the new Rom, when I launch OziExplorer, I not find ActiveSync to be active.
Thanks
