Hi peeps!
Can somebody please post here what the exact dimension and weight of x7501 box? I am planning to have it shipped through Fedex to here in the Philippines. I also bought a Plantronics Pulsar 260 so if somebody knows it's exact dimension/weight too, I would really very much appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

I can't remember but less than 30CM cubed
thanks for the info ice_coffee
X7501 box size
208x147x147mm @ 1.520 KG
Happy new Year
All the Best.
Thank you very much SuperDDD!
Ciao!
Jetherson,
I'm planning to also bring in an HTC Advantage (price of one here is isanely high Php 65K)and the seller uses FedEx for shipping. Did some calls and found out that you have to get a permit from NTC to import or a certificate to import which cost around Php 240.00 before you can have any Mobile Phone or PPC sent to the country or else FedEx will not release the Phone to you. You also have to pay a certain brokerage fee and 12% VAT which FedEx will first pay customs on your behalf. PPC or Mobile Phones do not require payment of Import Taxes or Duties except for the 12% VAT.
yes yetdy, i paid like $150 last january for my dell latitude d820 laptop through fedex.
i think i will just have to ask a friend who's coming home after a month.
sigh.
hello, are 7500 and 7501 different?how about the drive issues?is it already fix?
The only thing different now is the secondary camera. OS version is now the same but I don't know if they have the same bundled software. Regarding the MD issue, there are some people who do experience problems with it but then again, I do not think it is the majority of those who own the Athena. Just like any products, there are factory defects however stringent the QC process is. However, based on some posts/threads the MD is a power hog that is why they are looking for mini sdhc's that can sort of replace the dependence on the MD. Just like any memory device, an off sync soft reset may erase or corrupt your data.
I'm about to buy one (X7500 not the x7501 because of price and secondary camera). Unfortunately it's not available in the Philippines. Getting mine from Dynamism because of the warranty and upgrade the site provides. Did some research just to be sure. Check this out: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=752&id2=687
Personally, I do not mind the power consumption because my atom is always plugged on to my laptop whenever I'm in the office and to the AC power supply whenever I'm asleep. Doing the same to my new HTC Advantage wouldn't be a problem. The only problem that I have with regards to the battery is whenever I travel. But that's when I need to buy a replacement batter right? Anyway, I hope this helps.
yetdy,
from that url, it says that the cpu's are the same. i've read somewhere that 7500 and 7501 cpu's are different. i'll post the reference here when i find it. also, 7500 is a lot more expensive than the 7501.
i'm going to use DHL instead of Fedex for shipping.

If you're from Quezon City and don't mind using priority mail, you can ask that your HTC advantage be shipped through priority mail instead. I know the customs people in the post office here(I'm what they term as their frequent customer.). They are nice and would let single items pass even if they are supposed to tax USD$50 above items. You don't even need to give them gifts or you know what. As long as the package is for personal use, they will go easy on you.
BTW, I got my HTC Advantage for USD 600 + 58 for Freight. Not as expensive as the X7501. Brand new from a very reputable online store. It also has a 1 year warranty to boot. Anyway, that's the reason I finally bought one. Prices here are ridiculously high. Anyway, I got the specs for everyone to see...
Specs of the x7501
http://www.america.htc.com/products/advantage7501/features-specs.html
Specs of the x7500 is attached.
wow that deal looks very good.
anyway, i'm in subic area and there a big chance that i might still be able to ask a friend of mine to have it handcarried to the philippines, that way i wont have to pay for anything
my x7501 was bought for $850
thanks for the suggestion though, and i'll let you guy know how the 'shipping' goes.
ciao!
My x7500 will arrive via FedEx by the 10th of the month as per tracking number. Got to pay 4,000+ though for the taxes. (Bummer!) At least its still a lot cheaper than buying it here. Can't wait until it arrives!

Hello,
I've been waiting a long time for the Universal to be more accessible in the USA, but it looks like nothing is happening over here. Can any of you share how you were able to get the Universal in the USA? I've looked into buying used on Ebay.uk, and now I see there are a lot of cheap units from China on just about every Ebay site. The used units from Europe aren't much of a deal over buying from Expansys, and the China deals look like the worst scam ever. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Shawn
Mad Monkey here:http://www.dweiniger.com/
I purchased from MMB and he had one out to me in the next day. I highly recommend using him.
You can reliable buy it from Ebay from a reputable seller. If you use PayPal, you get buyer protection. I needed this because the first time I bought a JASJAR, the seller did not deliver. PayPal refunded my $977.
See lasvegasphones at: http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-new-I-mat...ryZ64355QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I talked to the owner and he seemed honest. They delivered my JASJAR in 2 days.
Good hunting.
Tim
I also purchased my Jasjar at Mad Monkey Boys Gadget's. http://www.dweiniger.com/
I previously bought a pda2k from him also. He has the best customer service and prices for universals. He carries the qtek 9000 and the I-mate jasjar. As well as the jam, pda2k, etc
He responds to emails within an hour or less usually. Very responsive and will personally answer your universal questions.
He has many loyal customers and feedback on EBay HoFo Forums. Check him out!
I'm selling one
It's like new - just played with it and a K-Jam to try them out but decided to stick with my Jam. $900 obo; I'll throw in shipping to continental USA.
If you're interested contact me with your e-mail and I'll give you my work address details so you know I'm for real (if you want to see my eBay/Amazon eedback my handle is gramix on both).
I purchased my JasJar from eXpansys-USA. As usual, no problems.
dweinger at Mad Monkey is the man!
Great service! Fast Shipping! Great products! Good prices too.
With 2 year warranty too on my Qtek 9000.
Buying from him, I didn't have to worry about anything.
Before that, I was thinking about buying from Ebay - but you always have to worry about whether or not you're going to get your product or not. And there are sites that sell O2 execs for around $800 and they seem too good to be true (called them up - don't sound too honest if you ask me - my 2 cents).
Anyway, if you're looking for an HTC - He's the man!
Modem_Man
I'm adding another suggestion for Mad Monkey Boy (David Weineger).
His prices are the BEST, he's amazingly fast, and he will help support you if something goes wrong with the device and it needs repairs.
Hi guys, i know this is not a normal question in these forums but i don't know where else to look.
apart from ebay, is there any other way an australian can get their hands on an htc x7501?
any help is appreciated.
thanx in advance
After extensive searching, the only place I found was ebay. Also, just making sure that you know the X7501 does not have a front camera for video calls. Only the X7500 does.
that would be because the X7501 is only for the North American Market, the X7500 is for the rest of the world, but obviously it depends on orders from the retailers and networks as to whether the distributors will bother to import it.
i would say Ebay all the way, or from a reputable worldwide online retailer such as expansys or someone similar.

WHy do you want a 7501 rather than a 7500? Did you realise the 7501 is the same but just missing the front camera?
Unfortunately, when I asked the same question of HTC on Oct 24, they replied "
"There is no plans for a release of HTC Advantage X7500/X7501 at this current stage. The shift is due for release last quarter of this year, hopefully this will suite your requirements."
The Shift doesn't suit my requirements so I ordered a 7501 from Mobileplanet - it arrived yesterday!
I asked HTC where I could buy Dopod U1000 back in March this year. They replied that they will not be sellin this device in Australia and New Zealand.
They said the Telco in Australia wanted to charge them an arm and leg for 'testing fee', which HTC refused to pay.
So I got mine from Singapore, and found out that no testing is needed. It just worked.
I don't see SHIFT doing well at all in Australia. It's too small to be used as a Vista machine but too big to be carried around. It's too battery poor, and too slow. I do see Advantage/Athena doing very well in Australia. It is almost a perfect device.
Thanx for the reply guys. i know the differences between the x7500 and x7501 but the increase in price just for the front camera is not justified. i dont use video call anyway.
i'll check out mobileplanet, how much did you pick it up for?
also fixerboy, how long did it take to be sent to you from the day you ordered it? and how much was the combined price with shipping in AUD? was there any customs fees?
thanx
Approx $A1200 inc shipping and a 4 in 1 cable - Ordered approx 10 days ago - said backlog was until Nov 22 but the day before yesterday, the tracker said it was backlogged for 9 days - then it showed up yesterday so approx 12 days from order to arrival.
excellent news. i might order it today. i had a look through the checkout process, do you remember which shipping option you chose? in other words, which ones apply to australia? is "rest of the world - 3 - 4 days" the only option available to australians?
also, how did you pay? credit card, wire transfer?
thanx

I am looking to buy an x7501...I have a Tilt currently (with a bunch of extras, 4gb card, 2gb, bluetooth headset H700, tomtom, coreplayer...), I noticed on Ebay I could get about 400-500 for all that, and they are selling x7501's for that...well, anyone interested, or just whant to sell, let me know...oh, by the way, you can look on ebay at the going rates, I saw some douchbage offering his for 750 used, come on, really?
Anyhow, let me know....
I have no idea what you are talking about I've looked on ebay and these are not going for anywhere near what you are claiming post some links to ones that are actually selling for this much if you're gonna make a crazy claim like this.
Maybe he meant £400 - £500?
I bought my X7501 used on ebay for $550 including shipping, a couple of months ago. I did see one going for about $300-400 but it was broken and being sold as is for parts.
You got a bargain! well done.
Thanks confucious. I was really lucky that day, as i just knew somebody was gonna snipe my bid at the last second. But to my surprise, nobody did. Unfortunately the average price is up around $650-$750 these days.
I stand corrected...slightly
I only did a quick search, not a thourough analysis of the long term trend of the value of the x7501 over the past month...However, now that the 7510 is released, there value is sure to drop...either way, 400-500 is an understatement....

If you can get one for that price then go ahead! Let us know what you do pay.
Good luck.
Got my x7501 for about $670.00 shipped (just over a month ago) in pristine condition (box was a bit dinged up but the unit is great. Most of the units then were about $800.00 + on ebay.
Cheers

Yeah lets try to get top price for our old phones and buy the next model up for free any douchbage want to trade.
I have a P3300 with tomtom garmin and route 66 opera netfront resco radio and 4gb card and extra original battery ive seen them for $300-400 with acessories. Want to trade i might consider some money on top i need an Advantage no software reqired or memory or charger just the phone.
For Aussies who are looking to buy HTC Touch HD, you might like to know that a Melbourne based ebayer is now selling it bundled with TomTom6 and 8GB MicroSDHC card.
We also get local warranty for buying it here.
I just won one at about AUD1225, after being unsuccesful in the first attempt (the winning bid was AUD1250). All prices are inclusive of GST.
I thought it is not a bad deal. With the current exchange rate, it actually works out to be cheaper than importing from expansys Singapore assuming we can escape import duty. Depend on the exchage rate, it is quite close to importing to UK.
A couple of sellers are offering to let you buy it without bidding at about AUD 1350, also with TT6 (full license with latest Aussie Map) included.
I thought some of us here might be interested in this info.
Cheers.
thansk for yours info

I think that depends on your conversion rate that your credit card charges you.
The key reasons I bought it here was, at worst there is no significant difference in price (Many actually bidded successfully at got it at lower price than I did), you are assured GST is already included, hence no more import duty, local warranty, and inclusion of Tom Tom 6 (legit copy).
Are you sure you get better than that?
I bought one on the Buy it Now option for $1299. Mainly because he has TomTom with AU maps included. Many others are removing the 8Gb card, some even adding a 2Gb card as an offer having taken the 8Gb out!
I bet you were the bugger who outbid me for the 1225 one! ;-)

So, you were the bugger who drove the price so high!
Actually, those who bidded later got it a lower price.
We should have conspire and bidded one at a time, then all of us would have got it for 2.50

Well the phone you bought was not Australian stock. Either was mine but i know that. The guy you bought it from basically imported it and is now selling it for a premium. The way i purchased my handset is cutting that middle man out. And since it is not Australian stock it would be interesting to see how this "local warranty" will work out for you. My handset came to under $1000 so i had no gst or import tax. And i have tom tom 7 already so 6 doesn't really appeal to me

Okay, of course, all stocks came from China ultimately. HTC is a Taiwanese company which had manufacturing plants in China. So is Iphone for that matter. IPhone is manufacutred in China by Foxconn, which is another Taiwanese company with factory in China.
Everyone imports and sell for profit. You have paid a differet middleman by buying from Europe, that's all. Unless you buy directly from HTC China, you will have middleman.
I get your point regarding the so called local warranty, though. I hope HTC Australia honor it. If not, this guy might be just be paying for my freight to HTC Hong Kong for servicing I guess.
Have you received your credit card statement, or check it online to find out the conversion rate yet? Usually credit card company's rate is highly unfavourable, so am just curious what did they charge you with.
You're right about TT6. I'm not going to use it either.

Well all up once shipping was paid for i believe it was just under the $1100 mark. I highly doubt that htc will honour that warranty which is why i suggest you contact them asap. Even if my warranty isn't honoured in Austrlia i have a 2 year manufacturer warranty with a store i can send the handset back to. If i need to send it back of course i will pay the cost which is unfortunate. BUT, it is better than having no warranty and no place to send it back to.
i did what davecash did and got mine from Handtec
my credit card came up at AUD$1081
very happy with it so far, exactly what i need for my use. now just gotta suss out some tweaks :-D
Your credit card amount will be an uncertainty especially in this highly volatile time. At the time when I looked at it, I would be paying more than you guys if I had bought it from Handtec.
Another uncertainty was the import duty. Because the amount was bordering around 1000, it may be slightly more than 1000 or slightly less. I would have to live with the possibility of an import duty.
So I decided to bid because I would know for sure what I was going to pay, whereas getting from Handtec I did not know at what exchange rate I would be hit with, and if I would have to pay import duty.
Another thing to bear in mind is, just because you guys paid that amount is no guarentee that another person will be able to get that exchage rate. You know very well that AUssie currency is sliding downward these days.
So, I bidded in ebay.com.au.
I realised that I was impatient and bidded a little higher. This guy got it for much less at AUD1176
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=250324322216
If you're able buying for business, there is also the benefit of the 10% GST input tax that you can offset, I think.
This seller advertised himself as operating in Melbourne, and I made a call to Melbourne, and there was a person there speaking to me. So...
I guess that shop might not be around when I need the warranty, but that would be just the same for Handtec I guess.
So, for all who are buying, weigh all the pros and cons and decide for yourself what you think is the best.
Cheers.
I was bidding on some of those phones too. But was outbid at $1200 at the last moment.
I wound up paying full price.
However, I don't mind as it has local warranty, and given my past experiences with smart phones, that is a must. I can also claim GST, and at today's exchange rate, it would be over the magic $1,000 mark if imported directly.
Bought my Xperia X1 and HTC Touch HD through MobiCity. It was shipped from HK via FedEx, next day delivery.

Did you pay $1349 for the HD? A little expensive I thought.
I get $2000 a year for mobile phone purchase (I own) ontop of my pay packet. The Sony Experia X1 was rolled over to a Director who wanted it after we finished testing it, his Audi Q7 wouldn't sync correctly using bluetooth with Touch Pro (the X1 syncs perfectly). Never had a problem with HTC's phone and my BMW.
My departments budget includes funding to buy, test and use (or not) mobile phones that we believe may be usable within our organisation.

Lucky you, mate. How does Mobicity do the warranty? Do they have to send it overseas or whill HTC Australia do it?
I bought my HD for $1050 total from handtec but that’s no longer possible with the current exchange rate and handtec's price increase.
Note that if you buy it from a "local" seller and need to send it back for warranty, it is highly likely that they will have to send it back overseas to get your phone fixed/replaced. It's not like they stock up on it and can just give you a replacement sent via express post nor can they send it to HTC Australia. That could result in an unfavorable turnaround time.
Regardless, if you want the phone go buy it because once you have it the price is all forgotten. Don't worry about how much you paid or what others got it for and just enjoy the phone.

Did you have to pay any GST or Duty when it arrived here in Australia ?
Looking to buy one soon.
What do you guys think of this ebay seller?

$ 1121.00 including postage. He sold the last 10 quickly and the next 20 are up for sale.
Obviously he/she is from HK, Don't know about the Sydney contact, maybe a friend ?

Your email was from a Mary? She told me that her stock has already been all returned to her supplier because the 8GB MicroSDHC and user manual are missing and she has sourced for the unit from another supplier but the stock are yet to arrive. So she currently has no stock. The stock is shipped out of Hong Kong, and not Sydney. Seems that everyone in Australia is advertising that they have stock, then ship the item out of Hong Kong.
I cancelled my order from the last one I ordered 10 days after payment (supposed to arrive from Melbourne 1-2 days after payment). He has has the wrong stock being returned to his supplier story. But I got the full refund.

My guess is that he is in Great Britain as the ebay listing is in GBP.....
Location
Correct UK, This is a UK English Shift.....
As it turns out I was already watching this in My Ebay before I saw the thread. Sadly as stated previously though, only shipping to UK.
Best of luck in selling.
really need one, just lost my x7500 today..
please let me know if u can ship it to Canada, thx
International
Buy it now and as long as your paypal address is certified i'll ship it to canada.
We may need to adjust the postage (I've stated £18 in UK, i think it'll be at least double that to canada)
maybe i just bid on it? thx
I am international attorney and have interest. Would you consider shipping to USA? (At my expense of course) Please advise on USD price if this is possibility. Also advise as to whether swaps or trades would be in order as feasible alternatives (e.g. I have 3 HTC TILT (Sprint-compatible) phones I would be willing to part with or augment within such a transaction.
SORRY!!!!
It's sold...... Thanks.....
If anyone is interested, I am selling a NEW HTC shift. I only bought it on the 21st Jan 2009.

I am selling it for €600 (plus shipping) which is the price that I paid for it. I will include the invoice to prove this!!
The device has not been used other than to check that it works.
If anyone is interested, please contact me. nicholas at cross dot lu
Forgot to say... the shift is UK version, and I will ship worldwide so long as you are willing to pay for insured delivery (will be approx €30).
