SMS stuck in Outbox keeps resending! - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Hi,
I've got an SMS in my outbox that keeps resending .. I can't delete it, or move it to another folder. It's really starting to annoy me as, not only was it 10 messages long, it's addresses to my Ex, which is absolutely thrilling. If anyone can help, PLEASE do .. otherwise, feel free to laugh at my stupidly silly predicament (Would you want a 10-message long sms to keep resending to your ex every 5mins??!)
Thanks

I hope some people can use this. I use ppcpimbackup to backup my messages. PPCpim doesnt backup your outbox folder, but whem you restore the backup, it deletes the whole messages database, so, backup, and then restore fixed my problem and emptyd my inbox

My wife's phone (HTC Kaiser/Tilt) has had this problem a few times. The first time it was a message to me and it sent every few minutes for days. The only way I've been able to solve it is by clearing out all the emails on the phone (inbox, outbox, etc).
Another time it wouldn't sync with the mailbox, that was due to a ton of messages on the account it was linked to. I think I solved that problem by clearing out the remote inbox using the web interface, and also clearing out the local inbox on the phone.
The mail client just doesn't seem to be too stable. I don't use it, I just use the web interface to get my mail, via Opera.

Corrupted text messages and emails

Hi All - For reasons that I won't bore you with, I had to restore all my messages from a backup (using Sprite Backup).
The restore didn't work 100% and got stuck at the 'patching emails' bit.
Anyway, I rebooted the XDA and it looked and behaved mostly fine. However I have a text message 'stuck' in the draft folder which if I delete it normally, crashes the program. When I look in the draft folder there's nothing there (but the folder says there's '1 unread'). Additionally, I've got emails sitting in the sent folder that when I click on them to view them, nothing happens
Also when I sync my emails, it ALWAYS says 640 unresolved items no matter how many times I sync the PDA
If I use the 'clear messages' option in pocket outlook - it looks like it clears all the data, but the bogus draft text message and around dozen 'sent' emails refuse to be deleted
I guess what I need is a 'better' way to delete the data. I've looked in the database section on XDAIIi, but I can't see a database for the text messages them selves
Can anyone help - this is driving me nuts!!!

HELP! SMS recovery needed!

Hi all, I've just upgraded my O2 Exec ROM, not being a PC user i assumed that activesync (using my flatmates PC) would back up everything, including MMS and SMS messages.
With over 300 SMS messages, a lot of them personal, others with important information in them, i would like to be able to recover them.
if theres any way to do this i would appreciate any help.
thanks,
brodie
Nope, you're f***ed. There's no recovery program at my knowledge.
did u make a backup? ...-if u made a full backup, just restore that.
no i think i just synced it. i saw no option for backup, only sync so assumed it would back it up.
I didnt really pay much attention to it, just checked all the boxes in active sync and synced it, upgraded the ROM and synced back again, but no sms.
Just looking now and my other email accounts havent appeared, am i missing something? does activesync not copy your other accounts either?
No, sorry to say but ActiveSync only copies you default outlook folders. No copy is made of SMS, MMS and other mailboxes that are set up. So sorry to say but I don't think you'll ever see the lost data again.
A little late for now but I'd recommend using a backup utility for future use. Which btw does not solve all of your problems as a backup made with a specific Rom can almost never be restored on an upgraded device with a different Rom. For SMS I use Jeyo Outlook Companion which creates a PST in outlook and keeps your SMS messages in sync. You can that also copy the SMS messages to any mail folder you'd like.
thanks for the replies all, looks like i shouldnt be so hasty and assume everything gets synced!
I'll look into backup utilities, have to wait until pocketmac or missingsync works with WM5!
I use jeyo sms outlook add on, for sms, and also look at personal vault, http://1800message.com/default.aspx to back up your phone I use Backup manager of sunnysoft, works like a treat.

Backup AND RESTORE SMS messages?

Hello,
I've searched the board several times since months and haven't found a solution to my problem yet.
My problem is as follows:
I have my Wizard (O2 Germany, so Xda mini S) since february (in fact it is the third one, O2 support changed it two times because the stylus didn't lock anymore after few weeks of use... have to change it again...).
And few months ago, I tried Sprite Backup, what I am using since then. Although it worked well, one thing is annoying: sometimes after hard reset and restore of only my mail database (cemail.vol, the only thing I really need to be backed up), the Messaging app doesn't show mail accounts anymore, but when I try to create new ones with the same names, it says, that the accounts already exist. So I created new accounts with different names, as many other users did, how I could read here. They co-exist and take memory.
Interesting thing: the Spb Diary messaging program can see the old accounts, and so it is also possible to delete the messages, that are still there in the old accounts. It can take a long time and many clicks (taps), because you can delete only one message at once, but it is better than nothing. One problem persists: Spb Diary can't delete the accounts themselves.
Therefore I am searching for a way to extract only my SMS messages (eMail is not important, I have it all on PC), start with an empty mail database (hard reset) and restore only the SMS messages into that new database.
The only program I have found so far, that really looked well for the first moment, is Jeyo Mobile Extender (or Companion). It backups the SMS Messages to PC, but not all of them. Messages in subfolders are ignored (I have subfolders for delivery notifications, call missed notifications and so on). And the restore doesn't work as expected. The date of the messages gets messed up, long messages (>160 charactes) get cut, and even the sender/receiver of the messages can get flipped.
But it must be possible to write a program, that fits my needs, I think (by the way: what is going on with the developers of WM2005? Backing up messages from mobile device to desktop is ESSENTIAL!!! Why isn't such a feature included?).
And because I am sure that I am not the only one with this problems hoping for a solution, I could imagine that someone already has written such a tool.
So, please, if anyone knows a tool or a different solution (editing mail database, removing everything except SMS messages...), PLEASE, help me!
Thank you very much in advance!
Yeaa im also really looking for a soultion to this, i Recently got a Windows Mobile device and i really wanna just be able to transfer my Series 60 Messages in Text format now.. to my Pocket PC's Messaging.
I can't believe nobody has made an app to backup and restore SMS's despite the growing number of people who need just sucha an app.
Except for Kai's, I don't think there is anything out there that does the job.
I hope SPB includes an option in the future to backup specific accounts only, because it is by far the best messaging backup app I have used till date.

jeyo has. works fine
jeyo is crappy piece of ****. better than nothing, but doesn't back up all messages, no self-created subfolders, no dupe-check, shows error message on ppc on every connect...
you will find out, when it is most important to you, believe me!

Hotmail text getting mixed with my SMS messages. (8525, WM5)

Here is my stats:
Cingular 8525
Windows Mobile 5 (out of the box, no upgrades)
I was using Pocket MSN to get my hotmail and use it pretty frequently.
But every so often I would send someone a SMS and they would tell me that it had a bunch of extra text. I ask what text and they would read it and it would be text from hotmail emails!
I would check my "sent" SMS folder and didn't see it.
I looked at the phone of the person who got the message and it had my SMS on top but the continued with text from a hotmail email.
I search the forums and saw where someone else had the problem but no solution was offered.
Please help!
Can anyone corroborate that this is accurate?
All my contacts are in Outlook, I should be safe when I hard reset.
Thanks!
it happened to me on my wizard with wm5. i think it is a corrupted cemail.vol file. i tried every which way to delete it, but it would not go away. even tried loading backups of the whole phone and it seemed to help for a couple of weeks but it would do it again. only thing that finally worked was a hard reset unfortunately.
...and if you look at the sent texts it won't show what hotmail was attached to it but if you use jeyo mobile companion to look at the texts it will show it. go figure

[Q] SMS Backup solution?

What do you guys use to backup your SMSes &/or call logs? I found these two:
SMS Backup - backs up your messages to a Gmail label:
http://lifehacker.com/5458083/back-up-your-sms-messages-to-a-gmail-label-on-android
SMS Backup & Restore - backs up your messages to an XML file on the SD card:
http://www.trickyways.com/2010/09/how-to-sms-backup-and-restore-on-android-phones
Anyone use any of these or recommend something else for backup?
Titanium backup, do the job and more

I'm not rooted, I'd prefer to stay stock if possible.
I use SMS backup. It does not give me any problems. All you got to do is enter your gmail account and password once and it does the rest.
Just found this one too, SMS Backup+:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/sms-backup/com.zegoggles.smssync
Looks like its been updated more recently than the other one. Anyone use this one?
I use XArchive. Very simple, very easy to use.
http://www.absolutelyandroid.com/app-review-xarchive/
If you use the paid version of Handcent, they offer online backup of settings and SMS. I'm not sure about how much they want for it.
I love SMS Backup and Restore. Simple and does exactly what I want.
You can try MyBackup Pro. Don't know what it costs now. I caught it for .99 cent a while back.
Sent from my new BFF...Evo 4G that is!
I use WaveSecure to back up SMS, contacts and locate my phone if lost
https://www.wavesecure.com/
SMS Backup & Restore. It's free and saves your texts into a nice xml file.
A few more questions:
1.) The ones that put texts in Gmail, do they create a thread for each text or put a certain number in a conversation or how does that work? I text a lot, so that might get hairy quick.
2.) The options that automatically backup - is there a service running at all time or does the backup occur at an interval? I'd hate to lose battery by something connecting to Gmail every time I got a text, rather than bulk upload or scheduling.
3.) Finally, if manually backing up, is each backup incremental or is a whole new XML or new Gmail conversation created? Is the software smart enough to know what was backed up previously?
4.) MMS supported?
Thanks for the help folks, and keep the suggestions rolling!
I'm loooking for something similar as well. I've tried several different apps from the marketplace, and a few did their piece well, but didn't do everything I want. I've tried Titanium Backup, and to be honest, I don't really like it. "Backup Everything" does a pretty good job for everything except generic files (SMS, MMS, Phone logs = ok, Files {angry birds data} it can't do), although I'd like to be able to automate it. I've been using Astro to handle backing up of apps because I'd rather back them up seperately from the data.
Contacts, calendar & mail messages don't matter because they're on my Exchange server, so the SMS, MMS phone logs and angry birds data is really all I need to back up. To SD is fine, Dropbox wouldn't hurt though. Does anyone have any suggestions for an app that fits my needs?
