Hi all,
when you got the screen folded over and facing out, any way of locking the screen?
thanks
ross
I was also woundering about that...
when you have the screen in phone mode, there must be some way of locking the screen!
well if nobody here knows, o2 won't know!
Not sure if this answers your question but mine is set up thus:
In 'Settings/Buttons/Lock' set 'When device is off' to 'Lock all buttons except Power Button'
I keep the screen outwards and use the power button to lock/unlock.
One snag is that the phone seems to unlock itself when receiving an incoming call. I therefore can accidently cancel it trying to get the damn thing out of my pocket.
I do believe it locks the screen during installation of the ext rom..
This is done by running tpdisable.exe from the windows directory..
A word of warning though: IT'S DISABLED!
Unless you bind tpenable.exe to a button FIRST, you're screwed..
(Ok, a soft reset should fix it..)
I think they are called tpenable and tpdisable...
I don't have the device yet, so I can't check right now.
When I was looking at the config file, there was no mention of an exe, it was like a command (unlock your ext rom and take a look at it).
I got the impression this function was now embedded in the OS hence no exe. Probably wring of course....
Then it should be possible to make such a program, and assign it to a button..

Any one work out what the key combination is to diactivate it on the Universal?
TIA
I guess it would be the equivalent keys of leftmost and rightmost keys on HTC Blue Angel ('Windows' and 'Ok' keys!?)
However you guys, should try MortSaver (freeware also)

At least you can set several parameter according your preferences.
I just found an issue related with Voice Speed Dial interworking.

Many thanks, I like it!
I was suprised to see the latest version of DBH's Slide2Unlock available for download the other day. Beyond that, I was pleasantly surprised by the functionality of this program. I've been using A_C's S2U2 and needless to say, tremendously happy with his latest version. Is it just me and my Mogul or does Slide2Unlock Professional require far less program memory or RAM? The point of this thread is to collect the positives and negatives of using one of these programs versus the other. Try to keep replies limited to the most recent releases of both programs. Thanks.
I didnt compare memmory consumption but what i found different was that S2U when awakened after a long period it seems that the clock was frozen and just wakes up too (eg its 1pm now, when i turn my device on i can see the clock jump from 12pm till 1pm, anyone else has this?!) DBH's Slide2Unlock does not do this.
- I also liked he fact that DBH's Slide2Unlock has continuous gif animation and not the 10sec power saving as S2U
- however S2U u can see everything on one page: despite beeing a VERY cool option, u dont have to slide to see ur missed calls, #of messages and voice messages... I prefer S2U: just looking at the screen and figure out how many calls, messages, who was the last call, the time and date... everything by just one glance.
AC is the man.The way i look at the 10 sec issue is that the program is used for the purpose of locking the screen,so youre likely to unlock your screen at least ten seconds after switching on your phone, moving pictures are a bonus.Secondly,DPAD unlocking can prove priceless at times, sort of a failsafe in case life happens. The DBH had better graphics(emphasis on 'had') but the slider was bothersome, sometimes choppy/slow. I think anybody moaning about 1MB of memory usage should manage their PDA better.
After s2u2 sits fir a while the gif file will not animate until you press the slide key. This is the one reason why I am using pro over this. Has anyone found a fix for it?
What Fix
There is no Fix, there is nothing wrong with the application. A_C has hard-coded it into the applcation, may-be in next version he will add option to leave the gif running, when on land line would stay on.
What I like about Pro is you can change your animated .gif file easily when you get sick of it. In fact I made a folder on my storage card loaded with animated .gif files. You don't have to rename them to wallpaper or wallpaperL.
Also I just love how you slide away the time to reveal the other information. Its a really cool feature.
I must commend A C for his excellent program also. I was using it until this new version of Pro came out.

I wasnt talking about it stopping to play after a certain amount of time. I am fine with that. I was talking about your screen being off and you go to turn it on. The animation should automatically start up when you turn the power on but it does not. The animation does not start until you hit the slide. Kind of makes having a gif file pointless.
Which uses more memory?
Is memory usage between the two of these programs about the same?
s2u
DBH's Slide2Unlock use more memory than AC_s2u2 and create a file at 4mb
but DBH's Slide2Unlock is smouther
and i like AC_s2u2 with other option like DBH's Slide2Unlock
On My HTC Touch it says Unknown Caller instead of the persons name in my caller id. that is the only thing that bothers me about DBH's.
Well I've used both, they do have their pros and cons. did find DBH Slide2Unlock Pro more stable on my device then A_C's S2U2 however, I've reverted to S2U2 as I prefer the analogue clock feature and the slide action is a lot smoother as apposed to lightning quick slide action of DBH Slide2Unlock Pro (I find it to be too quick for my liking).
I think the perfect Slide2Unlock app would be a combination of these two, I guess "I want to have the cake and eat it too" I'm just greedy!! LOL

I agree, a combination of these two would be perfect. I'm currently using the .86 version of S2U2 due to some bugs/features that I dislike in the new version (the TALK and END buttons function when locked, the black screen that appears when you get a SMS). What I like about S2U Pro though is the Slide to Reject and also the fact that when a new SMS comes in, the notification just appears on top of the S2U wallpaper, not masking it with a black screen. The slide feature for the clock is neat, yet I'd still perfer the little bubbles that appear on the bottom right of the screen like in earlier version and in A_C's. I think if both authors came together and made one program it would be perfect.
Well....A_C just released a new version today that makes the constant running GIF debate a moot point, he has allowed users to enable a constantly running GIF.
Maybe if some of the things I am not familiar with here (slide clock, slide to reject...) were mentioned over in his thread, he would work on it for you, he is always open to ideas, and will tell you if he can't, or if he will at least think about/try it!!

Oh...I wouldn't think that would happen, I just know if people like a lot of one app, they would stick with it, and make a suggestion of a change. I only mentioned A_C because I have followed him for a while, I am sure the other developer is just as open to suggestions. I think there would always be differences, but like anything else in life, I pick the item that has more pro's than con's as far as my expected functionability.

I've been enjoying the s2u2 v 098 for several days now, and I love the screen lock mechanism. However, I believe I am right in saying that neither DBH nor S2u2 has any security built in...ie entry password. Now I know that we could get our phones to activate the password protection...but how cool would it be to have a guitar fret-like slider that enunciates via numerals or NOTES(c,C#,b,G) or BOTH, our passwords AS we use the slider to unlock the screen, thus killing TWO birds with one...er...TUNE!
Rough draft of the slider:

Play your little Password tune on the slider and UNLOCK the phone at the same time...does any get what I'm saying, or am I being too obtuse?

I like the idea! But it's definitely another kind of app. A do-re-mi would also work since it requires less space (just 8 notes would do).
In case someone hate this feature like me which turn on the x1 accidentally all the time. Kaiser's key is working here as well

That's right!!! This tweak is one of the most important! I'm using it with my Kaiser from the very first day!
Tweak fails on Alltel Touch Pro
I have both a Sprint and Alltel Touch Pro. The SlideWakeup Dword works great on the Sprint TP but does nothing on the Alltel. The keyboard continues to wakeup the device even after putting in the key with a 0.
Any other ideas?
Works great. Thank you for this helpful tweak!

Yes. I found that the screen does not wakeup after adding the registry value.
But the keyboard light stil turn on when sliding the device, which makes the device very warm. This is wasting battery life. Any idea how to prevent the keyboard light from turning on?

i tried looking for that registry key, but was unable to find it. so i tried to create the key with the given value and it didn't work. i tried creating a DWORD in the KEYBD with the given value and that didn't work. i tried to create a string value with the given title and value and that didn't work. am i missing something? i'm running the stock ROM for the xv 6850.
I've tried creating the SlideWakeup dword with a decimal value 0 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD. The dword and value are there but have no effect on my X1 which continues to wakeup when you nudge the slide open a bit. I've done a soft reset as well to double check the registry value was being loaded. Still wakes up.
Anyone else seeing this?
I've just done it and it works! Thx!

Awesome Awesome Awesome!
This is great for those of us who keep our phones in our pockets instead of a batman belt! It would partly open in my pocket, turn on, and then do whatever my thigh wants via the touch screen. I do have to say how impressed i am at how coordinated my leg is. There were calendar entries that almost make sense!
it works fine on my TP
thanks dude...
appreciated!
I tried this - no go
I tried the remove and re-add - no go
I'm a bit tired of watching that bootup sequence
What could the people that are trying this, unsuccessfully, be doing wrong ?
Was the dword value hex/dec ?
I've been doing regedits since NT 4.0, I'm resonable good at it.
In my case my thigh keeps turning on the 'data connection'
It ocasionally calls one of my friends for a chat.
And if I wanted to go in the opposite direction? The ROM im on is set to 0 but I want it to wake up on slide... should I change it to 1?
it works...
thanx for the tips..now i can easily play with the slide on my past time
and btw, try to restart ur device..it might help
The SlideWakeUp is active while playing music on my X1i.
i often use my X1 as a music player together with my HBH-DS980. i noticed that when i slide the keyboard while playing music, my phone wakes up (except for PocketPlayer.. X1 wakes up even if there is no song playing!)
is there a way to disable it?
i have tried it with Nitrogen, PocketPlayer and WMP.. and a Wired headset..

If you have tried to play a game needing left and right key on an HTC Touch Diamond, you noticed that they are 2mm wide and if you click next to it, you get back to home page or to dialing menu etc...
So I've written a prog allowing you to lock these 4 keys actions and replace it by classical key event (VK_LEFT, VK_RIGHT, ...).
In that way you can play tetris, and use "Pick-Up" and "Hang-Up" keys for going left and right.
Link ->: DredSensor
To use it, you need:
1) An HTC Touch Diamond (it's the only one i have so i can't test it on other models)
2) Install the .cab
3) Reboot your HTC
4) Run a game (or app or ...)
5) Get your stylus out and back-in, in less than 1 second
6) Click "Yes"
----- A config window opens:
7) Check that Type = "HardKeySimul"
8) Click "Ok"
Now you can use (and eventually assign) your 'Home', 'Back', 'Pick-Up' and 'Hang-Up' keys in that game/app.
Actually, the 'Pick-Up' and 'Hang-Up' keys are always defined as Left and Right events.
Have fun.
Ps:
For people interested, the other "Type" in the config window are:
- "Launcher": allow you to quicklaunch 4 app (that you define in the config wnd) when you double tap (not click, just tap) on one of those 4 keyz
- "Scroll": allow you to scroll the current window by tapping those 4 keyz panel
- "KeySimul": allow you to send left/right/up/down events by tapping those 4 keyz panel
Sounds Great, will give a try....

In fact if you launch /Program Files/DredSensor/DredSensorCfg.exe, you can edit the "Default" config that applies every time no other config matches...
So if you set the Default config in "Launcher" mode, you can quicklaunch app from everywhere...
Actually, the Launcher mode works with "double tap" rather than click. But i can update it quite easyly to make it work on click if you want.
Dredger, can't wait to try this. This is my biggest gripe when playing games, and I didn't even think to post on here to see if someone could come up with something. I'll test today and let you know how it works!
Very Nice App, really works well.
The only thing is that I don't know how to add 'start', 'ok', answer and hang up to the buttons, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks, I'm loving it.
not able to download. all it gives me is a lot of squares and nothing else.
clever idea, finally i can play racing game on my diamond, thanks!
A very nice and welcome idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with my Raphael. Tried it with Kevtris: succesfully installed, soft-reset, started the game, and configured DredSensor for the game, but when I push e.g. the phone up key, it still brings up the phone application. I didn't change any of the settings in the DredSensor config screen (I did check that "HardKeySimul" was selected).
Hope you can make it work for Raphael too, it is so annoying trying to play games with the d-pad, when you accidentally press the home/phone/etc. keys all the time.

Sorry, i only have an HTC Diamond so unless you offer me a Raphael or HD, it's quite hard for me to check anything.
For the touch HD, maybe you should download HTCAPI.DLL somewhere, put it in /Windows and try again.
For the Raphael, on the related article on gadgetmix.com (see 1st post for the link), it seems it works on HTC Touch Pro so it should work on yours.

Hey! This looks like a really good program idea. Its not all that simple to figure out. I'm also not too sure there is an alternative way to customize the program.
Once I had it figured out, it works really well. Kudos for the update. My Diamond is getting much more reading use now. I just found that the d-pad was pretty much useless until now.
Also kudos on the stylus idea. Pretty nifty way to activate the menu.
Two thumbs up. I'm looking forward to any updates in the future.

Well, maybe they're using another ROM or something. Are you sure they tested it with a Raphael? Maybe they just tested it with a Diamond and presumed it would work on a Raphael (I'm not familiar with the site, so I don't know what devices they're using).
Anyhow, after some more testing, it is actually partly working. That is, sometimes the phone/hang up buttons work as left/right, sometimes they don't. With the phone button it's about 50 % working, 50 % not (in Kevtris). For some reason the hang up button is working more frequently, something like 80 % working, 20 % not.
Also tried it with another game - Marble Worlds 2 demo - again only a part of the key presses are registered correctly.
I understand it's hard for you to test anything when you don't have a Raphael, but if I can do anything to help (apart from donating my Raphael to you ), just ask.

You probably run another program that uses the same sensor API and that conflict with DredSensor.
Don't you have G-Scroll or something similar installed?
Is it possible to assign the home and back hardware button to make left and right soft keys?

When you do that, can you consider left and right softkeys? That'd be a significant advantage, as I find the lack of the two keys annoying in some apps (esp java ones).
On a side note, does the software poll for input? While I doubt it would affect the battery that much, I'll probably limit my usage to be on the safe side.
Great app!

So if I understand, you'd like the possibility to simul left or right softkey by clicking on 'Home' and 'Back' for example?
On the side note, it doesn't poll for input, but it polls every second to check which app is on the foreground. The input job is event based.

Please test this on HD2.

I've had mine for 2 weeks now, and it's not even been out of standby mode when I've taken it out of my pocket, ever.

I would want to try it, but I don't see why it's usefull.... The Windows 6.5 Slide to unlock works very good!

Apart from the fact that wm6.5 slide to unlock doesn't show all day appointment
By the way s2u2 works fine to me.

I've had the problem of power-off panel yesterday, that's why I ask this question.
And the problem for the other hardware key is that it is battery draining to have the screen on (and I don't wear baggies, thus it happen quite regurlarly)
Already installed on my HD2 very nice, anyone know how to disable the slider lock of origin HD2?
Look at the sticky "Leo hints and tips" item 27 Disable Auto Screen Lock
You can disable the original slider with the cab in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4996782&postcount=2961
Also all day appointments is an option in the settings you need to enable!
S2u2 Works perfectly for me BTW, on HD2

The only problem is that all hardware keys (except volume) wake up the phone. And worst, a long press on on-off key start the power-off panel (quite troublesome given that you can shutdown the phone accidentaly in your pocket).
Someone has a solution ?

You are right. S2U2 lacks a quick resleep function (which is present in TouchLockPro). When TouchLockPro has fixed the G-sensor detection, I think it is way better than S2U2 in terms of locking (except that it doesn't have the sexy interface). I don't really care what it shows on the screen when it is locked.
No, with S2U2 active, I can't long press the end key to turn off the phone without first slide-unlocking.
Fortunately, the panel is still locked after HD2 is waked up by a hard key. At least it won't be sending mails or dialing phones in your pocket.

Thats not true. With the newest version that doesn't happen. I tried to replicate the behavior and nothing...
Ive asked this question on another thread but has anyone noticed a problem with caller ID, if the image is from a linked facebook profile it doesn't show up when someone calls.

The pictures aren't actually on the phone though, they are just retrieved from facebook. Is there any way you can get S2V to utilise them?

well in that case you have to download them, get a nice fullscreen image, believe me its very impressive when someone calls you and its pic is fullscreen and clear
Bit of help please:
Do I have to uninstall S2U2 Version 1.62 before I install Ver 2.24 please?
Or can I just install ver 2.24 over 1.62?
Thanks
