Hello !
I'm quite new here. I'm reading the forum for one week and succeeded to flash my S200. Now I'm interested in other programs. As I see roms come with some installed programs but you can download cab files and install it separately. The only problem is that I cant find descriptions for this programs, so I don’t know what they exactly do. I spent one hour for cube and touchflo to got some idea.... Is there any post or page where this programs are explained?
thanks
Bojan

no wonder it hard for anyone to reply your questions
here's some quick reference for you..
this Cube things originally from HTC Touch and also with the Flo which you can scroll down or up smoothly your screen with fingers..
our best cooks edit it so this programs can be use in our Prophet..same also with latest great program from others HTC devices..
usually the latest new release roms here have the newest programs..so dont worry about it,we have the best cooks with us here
but if you need extra programs inside your device, just google around..
for me,if i need other great programs, search into torrents, check out the PPC magazine etc..
cheers..

Is there a ROM like this out there?

I am looking for a 6.1 ROM for the Wing that is basic Windows Mobile with basic apps like office, pdf viewer, zip..etc... Not a gazillion customizations and added applications.
Kind of like the OEM ROM before they added all the tmobile crap to it.... default themes and apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381530
this is the ginolin ROM. It is stripped down to bare minimums. You do have to add your own network configs for mms and email, but HTC makes a cab for that. I am running it on my wing and I have put it on several phones for co-workers that keep telling me how much they love it.
where is the cab

My signature has a link to a pretty stripped down Rom as well. Works pretty well for me and leaves me lots of space/room to breathe if I decide I want to add more.
It isn't a cab. It is a ROM. The download is the first link on the first post. It is a megashare link I believe.

The settings cab
you know, no rom is perfect for anybody except the creator. you should cook your own. Use Ivan's Easy Bake Oven or (this is preferable) learn how to use Hypercore and join the legions of cooks (not really that many here: Itje has a kaiser too, Ivan doesn't have an enormous amount of time, Ttran is on personal hiatus. That leaves Albert and Ginolin?)

Original WM6 Solitaire Game as .cab??

Hi there,
installed a VERY clean 2.03 Rom without Solitaire, but I am not able to find it anywhere. Found Teeter as .cab but not Solitaire. Can anyone provide me that?
I can't imagine that no one can help me out.

I got this link from another post in the ELF upgrading forum. Should helps.
Solitaire & Bubblebreaker
oh, looks like it. that included bubble breaker ****s up the real one pretty bad but if you just open the cab, extract solitaire.002 and rename it to .exe, there you go. works fine.
well i think i needed this too after clean instal rom thanks every one...
Thanks a lot,pl do one more favour,pl link it with forum so that it becomes easy to search for "solitaire"

Why do i need to install a new ROM?

Sorry for another noob question, but i own a blackstone for 2 weeks now and
i'm trying to realize why there are so many different ROMs out there.
* i'm not asking a "which rom question", just trying to learn more.
So.. i have a new blackstone with WM6.1 and TF3d. why do i need to install
a ROM anyway? i know i don't have to, but i see many people talking about it
and i feel that i'm missing something.
I would say... if you are happy with your ROM, there's no reason to change. In general, the usual reasons are:
- Your ROM is branded (Orange, T-Mobile...) and you don't need the 'extras' that your carrier has included in default ROM.
- You want to make some 'tuning' or your device and someone has cooked a ROM which includes all the patches, tricks and regisitry changes that will make your device better
- There are new versions of TF3D, camera program, or any other default program and HTC does not offer these updates to you, are only included in a new device; however you will always find a cooked ROM where these updates are included.
- Customization: Some cooked ROMs include nice TF3D customization, wallpapers, and a set of finger-friendly applications pre-installed. If you are bored with default settings and you don't like to spend much time downloading & trying things, a new ROM could be an option.
I'm still using the ROM that came with my unit.
My personal reason to flash a new (custom) rom, is to get more out of the HD then HTC give me originally. I just knew it had more potential (and I was right ). Plus, I like to play around with PC's, gadgets etc.
What's all this about newer radio versions?
Why do people rebuild old cars? why add 4-barrel carb and headers ect. Many reasons many cooked roms preform better than stock. other include apps in the rom not included by your vender. Others flash just to tinker, its fun to try the newest latest. Mosttly its to customize what you have and make it diffrent from the 100,000 other HDs
I would be very cautious about flashing your device with unofficial ROMs. While making a few improvements they carry a potentially large number of glitches. So if you're an adventurous type, go for it. Otherwise stick to the official ROM.

Link to new radio's thread here and flashing radio's in wiki here
The radio provides improvements on the GSM radio stack and this has effect on the GSM signal, AT command interface, GSM data modem (3G, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, etc...) functionality that is controlled by the Radio Interface Layer (RIL). The radio stack has nothing to do with WiFi or bluetooth -- it is only for the GSM/WCDMA(3G) part of the device.
Newer radio's our released which may improve GSM signal, although certain radio's work better for different countries/areas.
Ok now i get it.
I have the original ROM that came with my device and after i've found out why
people change their ROMs i think it doesn't really worth it.
The only thing i've found useful is changing my radio version, which works really
good. so now i have radio v1.12 installed.
Of course i like to tweak my device and configure it to my own needs, but for
this reason i've installed many apps without flashing a cooked ROM.

Installed these fixes as well, but i wish HTC had more stuff in their website to download. Like newer radio versions for example?
Anyway i'm glad we can find all these things here on XDA-developers.

Thats why we're here!!!
Welcome to xda developers!!
What a warm welcome that guy got.
It answered most of the question I have about using cooked (non-official) roms too.
If we are using non official ROMs can we still change the TF3D theme's and look of the Touch HD?
I am having trouble finding the best set of applications to replace the calendar, mail, SMS etc etc... I guess this is a regular question, BUT any suggestions?

Not to make you feel left out....Welcome to xda developers!!
There are numerous different themes and applications you can use to change your phones appearance. They can all be found in the applications forum located here. Do a general search for what you are looking for i.e. themes or calendar and see what threads aleady exist before creating any new ones. An example of a thread is this one Customizing TF3D - The Collection!
Hope this helps

Manila TF3D 2.5 download please ??

Hey guys, i have used the search but for some reason when i press the submit to complete the search i get a Page cannot be displayed message, not sure if its my computer or not, so sorry if this has already been covered
i have a TG01 and a Touch HD, i was wondering if anyone has the Manila TF3D 2.5 for download as a cab so i can install it on the TG01 because i love TF3D but the manila thats floating around here with the download cab is a very old version of the TouchFlo so i was wondering if anyone has the 2.5 in a cab so i can install it on my wonderful TG01 to make it look as nice as the Touch HD
I thought it had to be built into the rom?
i have no idea, thats why im asking but there are no roms for the TG01 thats why i was looking for a cab maybe
Well I have the TP2 and have seen it posted there that 2.5 has to be built into the rom, probably the same for your device.
crap that sucks because g0d knows when we'll have roms for my phone

well where the h*** did you get one of those?
i have not seen a 2.5 cab, so yes it does need to be cooked in... however, if you're resourceful, you can use tools here to dump your ROM (there should be a flash util from toshiba if your OS is wiped from doing any of this.)
after the dump, disassemble the rom with one of the kitchens here... now the files should be in order but you're going to have a hard time building and flashing out of that with HTC oriented tools... im sure others have much better ideas how to recompile it.
if you can disassemble, build (no modifications), and flash, then really try to get your hands wet making a rom (ex. just cooking in manila 2.5 or even start with something simple like add some OEM packages) and start flashing til you like it! yes, it's not for those without time, but like you said there's no roms for the TG01 so you can pioneer it!
if your interested in messing around with this, im sure that i and the other xda members would be happy to chat offline to help you get it working... if you got one, then there's surely more to come...
btw... for a sick interface, just load up SPB mobile shell with the Revolution theme... a lot like the Sense UI, it's still pretty sweet
