Anybody know if there's a way of keeping my Trinity in standby even when a text message comes through - I keep the thing in my pocket and if I don't look at it straight away after a text has come through, all kind of things happen - programs get launched, photos get taken, voice memos are created, just from it moving around in my pocket after un-standbying itself!??
Thanks
Lock the screen and when a text comes no programs will launch!
Nope...
Doesn't work...as soon as a text comes through, everything unlocks - is there anyway to stop this from automatically happening?
Thanks

Not so on mine when it is locked it stayes locked! The screen will come on but the machine stays locked.
What mine is doing is when a text comes through, it seems to be causing the device to unlock, because the screen will take touch commands - I need to be able to lock the screen and get it to stay locked even when a text comes through. Any experts out there who might know how to achieve this?
Thanks
What is flight mode anyway?
OK, let me put this another way - is it possible to lock the screen until you press the standby button, so that nothing else unlocks it such as a text message or phonecall?
Thanks
I don't have this problem. My screen is set to go off after 1 minute. When the phone is in standby, all I get is a tone and the orange light flashes. The screen will not come on, unless I press the power button.
No input is accepted when in standby by the screen or any button except the power button - check your settings
I also have it set to auto-lock after 2 hours, so even if I get a text, and turn the screen on, then i need to put the password in before the screen unlocks
i use my m700 the same as you with no problems
RESOLVED!
Managed to put the device lock option on the 'Today' screen and this keeps the whole device locked (screen & all) no matter what happens, until you press the unlock option on the screen. Hooray!

Anyone have a solution for this? I have my Wizard go to standby after a short time and always make sure it is in standby when I put in in my case. However, when I receive a call and pull it out of the case, I almost always press one of the buttons. So when I answer the phone I have the camera going, contacts open or the connection manager open. I use all the buttons so I don't want to disable them completly. I wash there was a way to disable all buttons except the answer button for like 5 seconds after a call starts ringing. Or, be able to set buttons to not activate unless pressed for 2 seconds or so. Or, require 2 presses to activate. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Turn on the password (4 digit one is fine) and set to 0 minutes, the phone will "lock" as soon as you go into standby but when it rings you will be able to answer with the red/green buttons but nothing else until you put in your password.
Thanks, I will give that a try. I used a password before but it slowed things down so much that I removed it. I have done quite a bit of optimizing since then and will try it once more.
it does slow the use, and gets annoying (i still use it) but it does work until i find a decent app to do it. All it really needs is 2 touches or 2 buttons to unlock but not found anything yet... \
I have solved this with litle less work .I have Device lock Bar on the top, under date , so you need twice down and middle buton to lock the
device.
device lock doesn't seem to play well with the password application. if you have password activated you can do a device lock but when you put your device on standby and bring it to full power it is unlocked. if you use device lock without password it works.
any solution to lock keyboard during a call ? i always active some functions with my ears(...) when i speak
starseb - switch your phone to stand-by mode... the radio (phone part) should remain on, and you can continue calling. Then just switch it back on when done ( or not %) )
sorry for my english, but i make i make a mistake. i would say how to lock screen during a call.

Is there a good way to unlock by pressing just keys?
Try christoph's deltaLock map it to a hw button then set it to be unlocked by the same hw button.
When my device P3600 received call or sms, the device is powered up, and then all the keys are active. If the device in case some key can be press (by mistake) and activate a program on this situation.
Does any one have a solution for that?
Use the Device Lock Feature in your Today Screen.
I do not like to add one more line to the dotay screen
can I use it without add it to the dotay screen?
If you don't want an additional line on the today screen then the other option is to set the device to request a password after only one minute of inactivity (under "Settings", "Personal", "Lock").

10x, but this is not help, the lock is form power up the the device, and the device is automitly powered up when received call or sms
I use a program called "device lock" that can be mapped to one of the buttons, I use button one when you hold for a few seconds. The app locks the phone and turns off the screen, so when you recieve a call or sms the screen will turn back on but the phone will still be locked.
Have a search on the forums here for it, that where i got it from.

in this case you can not aswers a call, when received one - because when the device is lock there is no quick way to answer that call.
or I miss someting here.

Yes you can answer a call, the device lock only lets you use the power, answer, and hangup buttons. When the call is finished it is still locked, unless you unlock it.
I use this one. http://www.mr2-power.com/downloads/DeviceLock.CAB
10x, GREAT, this will do the job

I am glad you found a way to solve your problem but I don't understand why my suggestion should not work. If you set your device to request a pin after one minute of inactivity if you receive a message the keys will still be blocked until you enter your pin. (I am talking about device PIN not SIM PIN).
And if you receive a call the answer button works even without entering a PIN.

Your solution works too, the only thing is sometimes (for example) I'm sitting on the couch using my phone for email or surfing and watching a TV program. I stop to watch something interesting for 3 minutes and my phone has locked itself with the pin lock. I have to enter the code each time this happens. It can get annoying. If I use devicelock, I lock the keys when I need to, obviously when I'm at home and my phone is on the coffee table, it doesn't need to be locked. I set my device pin lock at 2 hours, that should give the phone enough time to lock itself if I loose it...hopefully.
yeah... but when you loose your phone the device lock doesn´t matter. only reinstall a Rom and your phone can be used.

Yes, very true, but at least they won't be able to see all my contacts, appointments, notes etc. That being said, I always use FlexWallet to encrypt all sensitive information which is synchronized to my laptop.
touch screen and buttons can be locked during a call?
I followed up this thread and found it very interesting. But it does't focus all the problem:
when call's come in, your solutions are ok.
But when I want to make a call, I found there is a nasty *****, clicking to call waiting or to head speaker on, opening a note or calling my voice box etc. etc.
Then I found that it was my ear or my fingers, clicking on the touch screen or my fingers clicking hardbuttons.
I think tat during a call on the normal speaker the only buttons to be active should be "hang on" and "loud speaker on". With loudspeaker or BT on, or call terminated,s screen and buttons should come back to full function.
Anybody knows a solution to this?
Regards, and keep on, its a great forum. i love it.

Hmm this is just "device lock" that we can see in HTCplugin. In my case it does not turn off the screen. It just locks my device. Is everyone has "turn off the sreen" functionality?

I lastly tried the on-off button to block screen during outgoing calls.
I never did this before because I thought it would cancel the active call, but it doesn't.
Ok, I see it's more or less doing what I want. But it's very unconfortable. When I hit it bad, or don't hit it at all, or forget to press it?
Isn't there a posibility to have the screnn sensibility off, only sensibility, until the call is either ended, passed to outer speaker, headset or BT? or perhaps simply until I give it free manually?
It would improve safe usage of that phone remarkably, I think.
If not :-( , well, I allways can press the button ;-)
curious for what solutions you'll find on your problems with incoming calls. Perhaps that will give me an Idea.
Chears
I've complained about this on just about every major forum I have found. Hopefully, someone will eventually write an app to allow personalized device locking. I would set my trinity to not wake for ANYTHING and have ONLY the power button active. I would prefer to get audible alerts (or vibrate) to incoming calls, alarms and messages. Pressing power would be the only way to turn the device on. PIN features only annoy me. This would be very useful anytime I am not willing to immediately respond to a notification - driving, having dinner, in a meeting, etc. It could significantly improve battery life. I store mine in my pocket and accidental button press is a problem as well.
This is getting annoying. I'll be driving alonng, phone in it's case, and invariably a calendar reminder or email notification will turn the phone on. And since the green talk button comes out farther than the other buttons (what a stupid design decision) it easily get's depresed against the case, the first time starts the phone app, and the second time calls my last dialed number. I've wasted countless airtime minutes due to this happeneing.
So is there any way to keep the phone off until I press the power button (to have no alerts/notifications turn on the phone, the only way the phone would turn on from being in sleep mode is the power btton being pushed or an incoming call) OR can you disable the "Call last number dialed" feature of the green button being pressed when the phone app is active? I want to be able to pres it once to bring the phone up, but I don't want it to start auto dialing when pressed twice.
lots of tricky problems, i deal with them by locking the phone, or more recently using "s2ul" which is slide to unlock. It works really well and is customizable.
Search the tweeks posts to see if anyone has what you need as far as killing the notifications. They wake me up at 12:00 AM when they aren't even until 12:00PM! hahaha
Thank you for this post.
I thought I was the ONLY one with this issue.
It is driving me crazy. Last weekend I even bought a #7 torx and disassemblied the phone to modify the call button. I ended up putting it back tgether after nearly destroying the rubber 'mat' under the keyboard. The mechanical fix is harder then I thought.
Slide 2 unlock does NOT fix the problem. For some reason, just as the phone wakes up, if the SEND button is pressed, it TURNS OFF slide to unlock, and redials the last number.
Very annoying to me AND my friends that get the calls.
The only real fix I have found is to set a 'lock' and use a time of ZERO. But that is annoying to have to always enter a pin number.
No one has a fix for this? It has to be a very common issue
Use the stock phone lock application.

Slide 2 Unlock is the only solution I have found. S2U2 can be assigned to one of your buttons (I use the record button) and you can keep the programs active (i.e. MP3 music keeps playing) or press power to close.
You may be able to edit registry keys, I will look into where that is.

S2U2 does NOT work.
The SEND button can override a 'lock' and it somehow turns OFF S2U2. Makes it worthless.
BUT
VJDeviceLock looks like a reasonable solution.
It reliably turns on the device lock on each power up.

Actually, I installed S2U2 and it worked fine.
If the phone is off, notifications will NOT unlock the phone. While locked, pressing the green talk key does nothing.
So it solves the problem. What "send" key are you talking about that closes S2U2?

On my xv6800, if the green send key is pressed in my case when the notification wakes up the phone, it turns off S2U2. Now that it is awake, if the button is released and pressed a few times by accident in the case, it redials the last number.
I've repeated this over and over on mine. That was with the original Verizon firmware, and with a DCD rom upgrade.
If the phone wakes up and S2U2 is fully activated, THEN the green send button is pressed, it does nothing. It is only a problem if the button is held down by the case at the times it wakes up. Which has been often enough to make a number of calls by accident.
Please try to duplicate that. Maybe I have a S2U2 setting wrong, but I couldn't get it to lock reliably IF the green send button is pressed when it wakes up.
Yea, I should get a different case, but I really like this one.

I just tried it both ways. I set a calender event, turned the phone off, the reminder woke the phone up to the S2U2 screen, I hit the green button, nothing happened.
I then set a calendar reminder, shut off the phone, held down the green button until the reminder came up, and while the reminderf didn't clear away like it usually does, S2U2 did not close, the phone app did not open, and no call was made. I have S2U2 1.0
ive tried to too, S2U2 keeps the phone locked
the only thing even close to what worwig describes i can get is if i put the phone into sleep mode and bring it back out immediately while rapidly hitting the talk button, it opens the phone app before s2u2 pops up, but it never actually calls anyone (s2u2 locks it before then) and its only if i put it to sleep and wake it back up immediately (if i keep it in sleep mode for more than a second or two s2u2 is already up when it wakes up)
Well, I'll need to try it again.
But the last time I did my brother disowned me.
Oddly enough, I have been using VJDevicelock for a couple of days now. I am on an exchange server. They have a policy in effect that forces a password lock every hour. With the VJDeviceLock installed, it no longer asks for a password. Odd.

do you have /Settings/Key Lock set to "Lock all buttons except Power button"? That could potentially cause a problem for you with S2U2 if it is not.

Yes.
It will only power up from the power button, or a notification.
I'm trying S2U2 again. Who is going to give me their # so I can have it the first in my list to be redialed if this calls out again?
just dial your voicemail first, then test, lol
hello everyone, quick question
im looking for a locking program that will lock the screen when i press the power button (device goes into standby) and when it wakes up
the default locking program with WM is annoying because you can lock the phone BUT when u get an incoming call or text message, the screen becomes unlocked again and its easy to "answer" it accidently when its in your pocket. this is particularly annoying with text messages, because most of the time i wont even realize i have one and the phone will be awake for hours draining the battery and waiting to be pushed. anyways ive done several searches and come up with the following solutions, none of which work for me
1. S2U2, i dont like it, i tried it, wont use it again
2. SensorLock - An EXCELLENT locker, except it wont work on phones without Accelerometers...works wonderfully on the diamond tho
can anyone suggest something to me
First, set timeout for turning screen off autoamtically. This will solve SMS wakeup problem - screen will turn off automatically after some time.
Next thing, incoming calls - there is great Onyx ROM with Opal's slider - to answer a call, you need to slide your finger from center to left (or to right to ignore it). You can't answer accidentally using it
i appreciate your suggestions but neither works for me
i tried the opal but it didnt work properly, i actually had to hard reset to get rid of it
as for the timeout, it still doesnt solve the problem of the phone becoming ACTIVE as soon as a notification or text message is received
After i hang up on a call (when the phone is in sleep mode and the screen is locked) the screen unlocks. this is quite contrary to what is mentioned in the phone manual chapter 1 page 45. this becomes an issue since i use a bluetooth headset and the phone remains in its sleeve/case and after every call, a whole bunch of applications will launch since the case is in contact with the screen. have i overlooked some settings or are there other owners who have faced this issue?
ideas and suggestions welcomed
did you check it out if any of the hardware buttons being pressed against the case hence wakening up the phone.?
i had it to only closed al my apps in taskm and it stoped flickering
My HD2 is also behaving in the same way even in controlled test conditions - the phone unlocks when a call comes in (I'm presented with slide to accept or reject call) The phone unlocks during the call, but fails to lock again on disconnect (either by pressing "end call" or hang up via bluetooth).
Can anyone verify this? Is it interacting with something I installed?
I believe I found a (complicated) workaround.
What I want: leave HD2 inside pocket, answer calls with bluetooth headset, hang up and phone will go back to lock.
Problem: After I hang up using bluetooth or press the big red "End Call" button or the other party hangs up, the phone stays unlocked! It stays powered on and all kinds of buttons gets clicked.
Practically all lock sw uses their own lock screen (which I don't want to install). CSDevCtrl does not trigger by phone. TouchLockPro uses its own transparent lock screen but can respond to phone events. Using the !SUSPEND for TAPI\Ended under settings does not seem to work when the screen dims about 50 secs into the call.
Solution: Use TouchLockPro together with LockAndOff. Get TAPI\Ended to run LockAndOff will turn phone off, whether by bluetooth, big red "End Call" button, or the other party hangs up.
BTW: I think there is some confusion on whether the phone locks when you
1. press the big red "End Call" button, or
2. the hard "End call" button
in the forums.
I noticed that HD2 have a light sensor next to the top ear speaker.
During a call, if the phone is put near the ear and cover the light sensor , the screen become non-active which is good.
If anyone can come up with a lock sceen using this light sensor , then the problem with random launch of program when phone inside pocket will be solved.
This lock screen should only activated right after an end of call, beacuse , sometime you may want to use the phone in a dark place.

It's the proximity sensor that turns the screen on and off during a call, not the light sensor. How else would it work in the dark? (which it does)

My proximity sensor does not work, when I am getting a call my screen turn off and when I am taking the phone out from my face it turn on only when I am out side at the sun!! the screen stay off when I am inside room. I tested it with flsh light and it is working also.
I have a T-Mobile US version of the HD2. I am having the same problem when using the bluetooth system in my car. After answering or making a call the phone stay unlocked. And then starts making random calls while I am driving!!!!
There has got to be an easy fix for this!!!
Buy pocketshield, problem solved.
i have this unlock problem with 1.48 rom and i solve it by pressing start button and lock. after that everything works fine unless i change theme in settings. then just repeat first step.
Solved
Same trouble with me until I use the following software. I tried it and it's almost perfect. unzip it and just copy to your HD2, run CallerLoc.exe and click Yes, you'll find:when you hang up, or he/she hang up a call, or a call is established, the screen will turn off.
Why say 'almost perfect', the software is in chinese, but the filename is in english. and it's a call location software but with the function we need.
To stop or before you delete the software, run Callerloc.exe and click Yes again.
Hope this will help you. Sorry I don't find a English version of this software. I esure and I'm using this software perfectlly with my Leo.

Same for me
Greetings.
I understand this is quite an old thread I'm digging up but I need a little help as well and I didn't want to start a new topic just for that.
I've this silly problem, appeared right out of the blue:
You all know the standard manila behavior, when the phone is idle, the screen first dims and after some more time, depending on your preferences, the screen locks. It also locks if you press the power off button. This all was happening to me till this morning.
I added an event in the calendar (the only change I made today) and after that, my phone dims and then goes in sleep mode after the designated period of time, but DOESN'T lock!!! It doesn't even lock when I press the power off button. I can still lock it by pressing Start and then lock or by press and hold the power button and choose the lock phone option. So one would say that it's still operational, so why bother about it, but I kinda liked the standard function and I have to freaking idea why it changed!!!
I'd be most appreciative if you could offer some help with that.
Oh, I forgot to mention. Soft reset didn't solve the problem. Erasing the calendar event didn't either.
My phone runs the factory ROM (1.66.482.1 ELL), I haven't changed anything other than user settings (yeah, I'm a noob... )
Thanks in advance!
Nasos
Pocketshield could be the end of your problems. You can try it for 10 days and see how it goes...
But why do I need to buy third party software in order to revert my phone to it's original operation?
No, this is not the answer I am looking for. I was wondering if you know of any kind of settings that might have changed by accident and caused this undesired behavior.
Thanks.
The best to return to normal operation would be a hard reset. Or you can spend a while trying.
You can try
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Lockscreen\Enable=1
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Lockscreen\Active=1
Thank you very much. I opted for the hard reset option... I hope it stays ok this time!
My HD2 also had some strange unlocking and unwanted calling.
I noticed it appeared when using the android style lockscreen.
When I changed back to the original one, problem solved
i had this too. the andriod lockscreen seems to be a bit buggy last time i used it, i accidentially called 7 random numbers
