I have seen the iPhone thread which aims to make the XDA look like the mythical iPhone which supposedly would run OS X lite (or OS X phone edition) - anyway an OS X based phone.
What if...it ran the newton OS?
This is a project to make the XDA look more like a newton
I have created two splash screens, and a today theme.
Here are the splash screens - today theme will be forth coming
To do:
1. Phone app skin
2. Newton Application Icons
3. Control Panel Icons
4. Newtonization of windows icons for icons that don't exist in NOS

Here is a newton Theme gotten from pocketpc themes. (now I need to find the theme that I created some time ago )

1. Newton OS (classic green)
2. Newton Mobile
(I think both are taken from pocket themes)

For the theme files, since the BB system did not allow me to upload .tsk files, I renamed them .zip - just change the .zip to a .tsk and put on your xda
admiral - look up software called Magic SS. Free software to do screenshots (in bitmap).
Post a screenshot - I'm thinking of doing a fairly heavy mod to the standard WM2003SE OS, so would be interested to get some ideas.

Note on "splash screen #2"
The icons on this splash screen are standard NewtonOS icons.
Calls - call's you've made from your newton (this can be the phone app)
Dock = sync application (can be ActiveSync)
Calculator = Calculator
Works = Word/Excel/Drawing application (can be MS word/excel)
Notes = Note Pad
Owner Info = where owner info is set (in WM it would be a control panel)
Clock = Alarm
Dates = calendar
Names = Addressbook
Card = Storage Card
In/Out = Inbox
Time Zones = no such app exists in WM, this oculd be an icon for WorldMate
Prefs = Control Panels
Formulas = A converter app (dont know what the WM equivalent would be)
Classroom Dock = this was specific for classroom usage (get naswers to sets, setup devices and such)
I will attempt to post more icons from my newton
Here's a threat JUST for Cube Icons so we dont have to go searching threw 50 pages to find icons.
If possible submit all file formats so we dont have to do any modifications. Png's, Bmp's and Brn's... whatever we need
Also, if possible ,so people like myself who suck at photoshop dont have to dink around and what not to have a horrible looking icon, maybe try and make it so all 3 cube colour background options are included (bottom middle and top) as well even going as far as making the media cube side icons to replace Music, Photos and Videos. In the new settings modification program its looking like we'll be able to modify the mediahub side shortly too very easily instead of having to go into the \windows and altering it from there.
Having all these icon spaces covered will just ensure that we have the option of placing them anywhere on the cube.
Add any icons you might have so we have all the files in one thread. Even if they dont cover all the icon spaces.
Carlosp's Touch Settings Program
If you do want to customize your cube please go to Carlos' "Touch Settings" Thread and download the program he's been working on. He has a new beta version available right now that makes it really easy to not only customize the icons on both your ApLauncher and MediaHub panels of the Cube but also now can change the animation as well so you no longer have the default icons showing up anymore when the cube spins.

If anyone has any requests to make for icons please dont hesitate to ask and I'm sure someone can get on making one. They dont take too long to make so please lets get a really good archive of icons going for the Touch!
Here's a quick referance list of where to find the icons that have so far been uploaded to this thread. Most Icons are only made for the ApLauncher Panel so far unless otherwise stated in the title. Should you require the icons that you like for the MediaHub Panel as well just contact the person who posted it and request it.

Download the Zip file below for the ApLauncher blank Icon set as well as the MediaHub Icon set to make your own. Remeber to post them for everyone to use.
Also, in order to convert your BMP files to BRN files so those of us with the CDMA version of the Touch you will need the BrnConvert.exe program. Very easy to use just drop your BMP file in and it converts it for you. Then package everything up in a Zip or Rar file and you are good to post!
You might want to attach a jpg with each file...
so people know whether it's worth downloading or not.
I'm curious though, why have BMPs and BRNs as well? The cube icons are all PNGs. You'd only need BNRs for the other face of the cube (Pictures, Videos and Music)

I've got a Telus branded Canadian CDMA HTC touch and wasn't able to load on normal PNG's for the icons. When I would the space would just be vacant of any icon all together and show a black space. The icons, even the ones on the application launcher side of the cube had to be in the BRN format. In order to convert the files to BRN they had to be in BMP format first which is why those are there as well. You wouldnt happen to have the blank grey backgrounds so people like myself can try and make our owns would you? I assume you had blanks in order to make the tomtom and Navigon GPS icons for us

hhmmmmm,... couldn't use the png files ( my htcp3300 didn't detect dunno why.... even switch the names with small *.png names nd without cpslock,...
the origial ones it detecs but not the tomtom ones...??

I just reopend the files as BMP's and resaved them as PNG files. Try redownloading the tomtom files and load them onto your phone. If that doesnt work maybe try opening the BMP's yourself and save those as PNG's... Also is it possible that your cube requires the files to be in BRN format? I tried a number of different icons before I realized that I needed BRN files. When I would load the png files on I would just get an empty black space where the icon was supposed to be.

Yess, that did the trick.... when I only renamed the .bmp files to png, it recognised it.... but not the ones U've ziped..( the png-zipped ones..)
Why is that mano?..(...is't cause U'r from Canada, nd I'm from Holland, nd Smoke more?????.....)...

I want to thank Idostang for his great theme here. I wanted to just personalise it a bit for my own style and probs go out to his awesome work.
Fully landscape and SPB 2.12 compatible.
Things I changed:
- Left to right gestures for now, launcher and mru screen
- Left to right gesture for three contacts pages
- Added data connection icon to the top of the now screen
- Changed the top bar in the launcher, mru and contacts page
- Added the option of using the backlight feature in SPB shell to the now and mru pages
- Removed the additional digital clocks in the analog screen (why have digital when you analog?)

First of all, great tweaks to the theme!
One thing, I noticed on your screenshot, that the contacts page has the bottom right corner button for opening the phone book... but mine doesn't have that... any idea why? And where do I change that in the qa_layouts file?
Love this skin, but I love to see two changes:
First, I'd like the backlight setting up where the weather icon is, and the weather icon back down where the Backlight is.
Two, I'd love a calendar page in place of the MRU.
How easy would it be to do those two things?
Oh, and can we use themes with this?

Until now the only way that I found to increase the quicklinks on the start menu was this tweak from Leo hints & Tips :
"22. Change Your Quicklinks from 9 to 16 Slots
Amazing tweak. Now have a 4 x 4 grid of quicklinks instead of a 3 x 3 grid. Install cab at bottom of post and reset. Please note you can only use the default black weather wallpaper when using the cab and also contacts photos will not show. If you will only use your quicklinks for apps and don't mind the black wallpaper, go ahead."
But wandering round on this forum I've seen new Sense themes with 4 quicklinks and with a background how did they do that ???

And have edited the following icons to have different names:
Navigation/Drive Safe.ly - Changed to sat nav
Android logo icon - Changed to app launcher
Service provider specific apps (edits of other icons):
Orange Account - logmein icon
Orange Wednesdays - flixster icon
Search kovicon on google for the official releases of these icons.
My own icons are in the attached zip file. Let me know what you think. Also, I am happy to take orders for specific icons in this series.
