I have a problem with hardbuttons I have made a Hard reset and after that buttons around joystick stopped working! but if I want to make a Hard reset by buttons - whey are working. But when OS is booted - it not work.
I have had the same problem.
Initially, they would work fine until I pressed the windows button in the lower left hand corner, then they would stop working until the next power-cycle.
Now they no longer work at all - even after a hard reset. However, they do work during the hard reset process.

Hi, just curious to know if anyone has experienced their soft key just randomly stop functioning until a soft reset is performed? The soft keys from the today screen that open up Calendar and Contacts would just stop working all of a sudden usually when the phone is wakened back up from standby(pressing power quickly not turning it completely off). I would appreciate all feedbacks/assistance/solutions.

Keith
sometimes my soft keys won't work using the buttons but work with screen tap. i think its after running some application i have but not narrowed it down to which one yet. May be PTvncHI (terminal client viewer)
Hi
Yes I have this problem.
Its ONLY on the today screen.
My buttons do not respond to a screen tap or the buttons themselves.
I only noticed this problem after installing VITO Button mapper.
I have since disaled this app and will remove it totally when the rom upgrade comes out but I don't want to do a hard reset just yet.
Robin
I have noticed this happen after I run TCPMP, once I soft reset and before I run TCPMP again, the soft buttons work just fine.
If you've mapped some hotkeys in TCPMP, they might not work in other applications...
I wish TCPMP would fix this !!!
Thanks for everyone's input, I did map the soft keys in TCPMP....so I unmapped the soft key buttons(TCPMP) and so far so good.

Keith

were you upgrading the ROM prior to doing a hard reset?
Help guys,
I've read the manual, but i am unable to HARD RESET my HTC Herald, I always SOFT RESET the phone because I have software applications problems - but I want to do a full hard reset, hoping it fixes the phone - (the SOFT RESET doesnt work).
I know you're supposed to hold the reset button down with your stylus after holding the two soft keys, but the moment I touch the Reset button with my stylus it immediatly soft resets...
Any ways to get around this?
you should be pressing the reset button WHILE holding the two soft keys. Make sure you keep holding them. The hard reset confirmation screen won't appear until you release them though

witch keys are the soft keys
On my Herald one only needs to press the two soft-keys, NOT the reset button on start up. In conclusion, 1. turn off device 2. turn on device and directly press the two soft-keys. By doing this at least I get some text on the screen and that I should press send to do a hard reset.
Hey everyone, just got a Hermes100 and installed a new 6.5 rom and trying to hard reset after flashing as it is advised, but my phone does not hard reset!
I press Windows Key + OK Key at the same time (Above the Send/End Keys), while they are pressed together I click in reset, then let go of 2 keys together. (even tried holding them longer and shorter).
I concluded i'm either doing somewthing terribly wrong or my phone has no hard reset for some reason (2nd hand phone).
I have soft reset and bootloader works.
Is there another way to hard reset? that actually has the same result as one.
thanks heaps guys!
My hermes has a crappy screen too, white flickers (slight) now and again when booting up (anyone have this)?
I'm not certain which keys you are pressing, (windows and okay keys are below start/end in my t-mobile vario 2).
You need to hold the 2 soft-keys, (directly below the screen) and keep holding them after you press reset until the confirmation screen comes up. Then press R.
I have a JasJam, there are Windows and Ok keys are above send and end on JasJam.
I read somewhere the soft keys are the Win + OK keys, but it seems they vary on device model.
OK, I have 2 keys below the screen, then below them are Win + OK, then below that is the Green + Red Send/End keys... so i shuld be pushing the 2 closest to the screen?
OK, now my screen has gone white,,, argh (not related). will try when i fix it.
Good luck with that.
The softkeys are the two which are the same as the bottom taskbar in windows, so it sounds like it IS the 2 closest to the screen.
Thanks jez83uk, you are correct, the guide I read was wrong, well i suppose it depends on Hermes 100, 200 or 300.
Mine is JasJam Hermes100 and the 2 keys are the closest to the screen, and it now HR's no problems.
cheers for the help matey!
Been a while since I have been on here. I miss my Wing so I decided to reach out to you guys and maybe you guys have a solution. Last year while I was still using this phone, my screen would flicker white once in a while, then that progressed into only turning on when I slid open the LCD screen slightly. Meaning that when it was closed, it was black, couldn't use the touch screen, I would have to slide it open to use it or I would have to slide it partially to use it while it's semi-closed. Then finally one day the screen just went black and doesn't work anymore. I know the phone still works fine because I see the keys light up and I feel the phone vibrating. I took it apart thinking maybe the band of the screen was loose or cut, but it was perfectly fine, I even took off the band and put it back on to see if it would make a difference, still no difference. What do you think it can be?
try a hard reset:
press both soft keys and while press the soft keys press the soft reset key by ur stylus for about 3-5 seconds and then release the soft reset key still pressing the soft keys. when u release the soft reset key some instructions will appear to format the phone mem. remember to make a backup of all important data before proceeding.
if this doesnt work then try updating ur ROM ... i find flashing my herald with flashcenter to be the easiest way. you can find the HOW TO here on xda forum
