Hi, i recently installed the 10 button comm manager, and its all working well, but when i got into Programs, i noticed there are two comm managers, as the new one apparently didnt replace the old one.
so, my question is, is there a way of removing the original comm manager? its not a problem that its there, i would just prefer to have just the one
Cheers
You can remove the shortcut from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs so you dont see it twice.
If you only see one shortcut to CommMgr in File Explorer, choose Menu -> Show All Files.
That will show all the original shortcuts and makes it easy to delete the right one if they're named the same.

I want to make a short cut to bluetooth icon that is located in settings folder.
Any idea how can I do that? Being able to put it in to manilla screen short cut would be superb.
Bluetooth shortcut
Hi!
First install the attached cab file.
Then add it as a shortcut.

I have it but that is not it it only enables and disabled bluetooth. I want to be able to go to full BT settings that you can access from settings menu.
Shortcut to BT
the file is called BTManager.exe and is located in the windows folder, you can just make a shortcut to this file.

In case you don't know how, locate the file in file explorer and do Menu, Edit, Copy (or long-hold on the file and select Copy), then go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and do Menu, Edit, Paste shortcut.

Yep I see that now however I have already made shortcut to actual cpl file. Thx guys.
Sorry for misunderstanding.
I was interested to do this also, and tried to follow this old post:
since I still cannot post links, Google this:
Q: How can I create a shortcut to a program in settings?
It seems that it cannot be applied to Winmo 6.5, but it may be a lead to someone who knows how to adjust it to new Windows...
Edit: oops, didn't see the above replays...
If you just copy short cuts to settings folder they will appear in settings/system folder after soft reset
Sorry...As a former Symbian user (and Mac user) I am not so familiar with Windows Mobile file management.
How can I organize my apps into the folders I have in my "Start" menu?
Whenever I install something, it just dumps it there. I assume there must be a way to do it, but I cannot figure it out.
Thanks.
(Hoping it is not a registry tweak...why is nothing simple on Windows?)
try going through file manager and creating a new fodlers and move apps to that?
as above answer, but don't try moving anything pre installed because they will re appear when you soft reset.(I'm thinking particularly of the htc apps. there is a tweak to prevent it, but it can be surprising the first time you see it happen)
Sorry, but can I just move the apps to the pre-existing folders, say....
"Games"
or
"Internet," etc?
I want to just move them. How do I do that using the file manager?
I see a "Send..." option, but I am not sure what part of the file to send. IS that how I would 'move' something to a folder?

It's a bit of a pain with file manager as you can (usually) only do 1 file at a time. Long-hold a shortcut and select cut. Then go to the folder you want it in and do menu, edit, paste.
If you use something like Resco Explorer or Total Commander then you can do multiple files at a time.

from what i understand you just want to reorganize your start menu to look cleaner.
in the start menu you have shortcuts and folders. to access them you need to start file explorer and go to: my device > windows > start menu > programs. then just cut & paste
if you want, you can also make new folders - just tap on menu in file explorer.
some of the shortcuts/folders will reappear after reset. to prevent this you need to do a trick you can find under the "tips, tricks and reg tweaks" thread.
Thanks to all...got it...so far!

How can I get to my device > windows > start menu > programs?
If I just boot my HD2 and go to the Start menu... all I see is the list of programs that I wish to move. If I long press on them, it says, "move to top"

Open file manager and navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs then follow the instructions above to cut and paste the shortcuts.
I assume you'll want to create folders to put some shortcuts in, and you do that by going to menu and then new folder.
the program is uninstalled but the icons are still there. how to i remove them?
x2
I don't own X2 but I would expect it's similar to other wm devices: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\...
all you have to do is delete them there
best
didnt say it in my previous post but i already did that ;(
If you had really deleted the corresponding entries in the start menu folder you would not have any shortcuts there. Because that's what a program does when it is installed. It places a shortcut either in the start menu folder (visible in the start menu) or in its subfolder programs (visible in the programs menu). I recommend you check again those two folders for shortcuts and if you find some you delete them. The folders are
windows\start menu
and
Windows\start menu\programs
Depending on the language of your rom these foldes can be named slightly different.
P.S. Make sure you use a decent file explorer like Total Commander or Resco Explorer which show hidden files too.
Hello,
I would like to remove (or hide) some of the icons that are on the desktop of my MC75A Device.
I know that theses icons can be found in the \windows\start menu\programs but unfortunately they are in 'read-only' mode : I can't remove them.
Could there be another way to hide or remove them ? maybe by using [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start] keys ?
Thanks a lot

Take Resco Explorer or Total Commander or some other more advanced file explorer than default WM Explorer, and remove the read-only flag from shortcuts You need to delete. In Resco for example, just select and hold the shortcut icon, take "Properties" from context menu and uncheck the "Read only" box. After that You can delete them. Unless they are in ROM, which is doubtful, but with MS You never know...
