Use XDA II as a modem for laptop

Hi!
Has someone a solution / configuration for to get windows working with xda2 as a modem?

i'm pretty sure it works as a bluetooth modem without any software

Using XDA as a modem to your PC
VIA BLUETOOTH CONNECTION & GPRS:
If your PC does not have an integrated Bluetooth connection, you must first install a Bluetooth dongle (USB to Bluetooth) on your PC, with the related software (widcomm or other)
Open on your PC in the Control Panel the Phone and Modem Options
Choose Modems, pick the Bluetooth Modem, then click on Properties
Click on Advanced tab
Type in Extra Initialization commands:
AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”xxx”,””,0,0
where xxx is your internet access point.
Now click on the Bluetooth icon of XDA, and choose Discoverable mode
On your PC:
Click on Bluetooth icon (My Bluetooth places)
Click Bluetooth Setup Wizard.
Choose I want to find a specific Bluetooth device …
After a search period, an icon of your XDA is displayed (usually with your owner’s name): double click for settings
From the Dial-up Networking Links, click on SSA
SSA settings:
Modem: Bluetooth Modem
Number to dial: *99#
User name and password, according to Network provider

Yes it works. Im using my cradle/usb connection though and not bluetooth. I am browsing the net for free and using msn for free!! what I dont get is that why, as im using o2s settings, can i access msn via my laptop using my gprs modem, yet i cant access msn using my xda2. I know they both using the same ports! 8080...bloody weird? Or is there something else which affects the connection to net via laptop than there is connecting to gprs via xda2 connection inbuilt. Any ideas?

Could please anyone post the drivers to use the HTC Himalaya as a gprs modem on my notebook.

I have been trying without success for two whole evenings to make this htc device act as a wireless usb modem for my sony viao laptop. I downloaded the USB modem dialler utility that is referred to in the sites, and when I physically connect with the USB cable and turn on the wmodem utility on the qtek then it will connect through GPRS and that is a workable if wirebound solution. However, if I disconnect and close the dieler utility, (which doesnt install, it just exe's everytime you open it) I have to fully reboot the laptop before it will connect again.
Using windows to detect the bluetooth modem results in it spotting 3 bluetooth modems, only one of which is available to "query". Using the Vodafone connect (PC) software, (which works with my old sony ericsson t610), with the newly installed bluetooth modem results in an"AT command not supported" failure message. It does this with or without the GCDCONDetc initialisation string in the modem's advanced settings.
Has anyone got a simple HTC bluetooth modem driver or any better ideas? This is driving me bananas.

Cannot dialup from my Pocket Loox N560 using my Nokia 6680

I am trying to setup dialup from my N560 (WM5, MS bluetooth) to my Nokia 6680 to get 3G internet access, but after setting everything up (i've think i've done this right because i've done it a thousand times with my laptop) i can't seem to go past dialing. I see the icon on my mobile phone saying that some bluetooth device is connecting to it (the devices are paired and the nokia is set on auto-allow connections), my pda is dialing, but then just fails saying "something went wrong".
Now i'm not sure, but i'm thinking that this is because prior to setting up my dialup on the laptop i have to install "Nokia PC Suite" that also contains some sort of modem drivers. I've found out here: http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,71234,00.html that they offer this kind of modem drivers for "Microsoft Bluetooth users" so i'm thinking that because my N560 has the Microsoft Bluetooth stack i'm having this issues and i have to somehow install some drivers to make the PDA be able to talk to the phone.
For me, this is vital as without 3G, the PDA will be unconnected most of the time, as where i live, hotspot coverage is scarce at most

Is it possible to use another phone as a modem

Hi,
I'd just like to ask if the wizard can use another bluetooth enabled phone such as a nokia 6630 or n90 as a modem. I was thinking of using them for their 3G capabilities.

I have successfully used my Nokia 6260 as a BT modem. Just create a new connection profile but select a BT modem in the set-up instead of 'cellular line gprs' and pair your handsets.
You will need the connection settings from your service provider.

How to setup bluetooth wireless modem with notebook?

I tried many times to setup but failure. The bluetooth connection is ok. Before I dial out on my notebook, I turned on the wireless modem.
Can anyone help?

Bluetooth Null Modem ?

I want to connect to the Internet via a Bluettoth Access Point (Billionton) providing PAN and LAP, or via my Laptop's Bluetooth Network adapter using Internet Connect Sharing.
On the HD, I cannot find the BT NULL Modem option in the Modems list (all I have there are: Bluetooth along with 2 Cellular options and Hayas modem).
Is there a way to have that option?
On my previous PDA, I had installed the Widcomm stack, there I had that option.

As posted above, Can anyone connect to the WEB via a PC using the Bluetooth Network Adapter (with internet connect sharing) ,using the PAN or LAP BT profiles, not just Activesync.
It seems that a BT Null Modem is required to be present on the HTC HD, but I cannot configure that with the current BT stack.

Yes, it's possible.
Do the following:
1. Enable BT on your device. (make sure it's in visible mode as well)
2. On your PC turn on your internal BT or insert USB BT module.
NOTE: If you are using XP SP2/SP3 I suggest not to use Window's built-in BT stack, as your PC will fail to install BT modem drivers after pairing. Use Widcomm drivers instead. They worked for me In case you're using Vista, there's no need for 3rd party driver installation, as the Vista built-in BT stack will recognize and install BT modem drivers just fine.
3. On your PC, initiate BT device pairing (once again, make sure your device's BT is visible!). Once pairing is done, and BT passwords are exchanged, your PC should discover the available BT services your device can offer. Select at least BT dial-up networking and BT PAN networking. If you are using Widcomm drivers, it will automatically create shortcuts for you for every selected connection.
That's all for the configuration. If you want to use your device as a BT modem for dial-up networking, just click on the dial-up icon Widcomm wizard created for you and enter *99# as a dialing number. Usually there's no need for username/password configuarion when accessing 3G/EDGE. Should your connection fail, then you must add some "extra modem initialization commands" to your BT modem settings in device manager as follows: +CGDCONT=1,"IP","<APN name>" where APN name stands for 3G/EDGE access point your operator gave you. As an example for ATT USA it would be: +CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.cingular"
In case you decide to connect to the Internet using BT PAN network, there's an extra step needed:
4. On your device, go to Programs->Internet Sharing. In "PC Connection" drop-down box select "Bluetooth PAN" and for "Network Connection" choose you default access point your operator provided.
5. Again make sure your device BT is ON and is in visible mode (ICS will warn you about this anyway). On your PC launch and establish BT PAN connection by using the shortcut the Widcomm has created for you.

As I had mentioned I want to access the internet from my HD via a PC (thus avoiding the cost for GPRS/HSDPA).
1. When you refer to the PAN on the PC side are you refering to the 'Network Access Point'? (I have the Broadcom stack on my PC)
2. When I click on the Network Access icon (on my PC), its starts to connect but immediately it comes up with an error message sayig 'could not connect to remote device'
3. Does the Internet Connect Sharing (ICS) on the HD, facilitate the HD to access the internet via the PC?
4. I used the following configuration for the ICS on the HD:
PC Connection: Bluetooth PAN
Network Connection: <my mobile provider> Internet
5. Do I have to configure something on the BT PAN Network Adapter on my HD (setting>wifi>wireless networks>network adapters)
5. As I understand from your response, when activating the ICS, for this type of connection, the BT PAN actually take over the traffic detined to be carried out via the HSDPA Internet, is it correct?
