it doesn't change msn, it is a separate program that is in beta testing.
well....thank you for your good news
but i'd like to wait for a stable version..
they are testing it for a year by now and still no result... i`ve tried this before, it only recognizes some major brand devices cameras, i have no idea if it will work with hermes.

I'm going to switch tomorrow. I have a couple of old Macs around the house, but they've always been toys. Tomorrow I'm getting a Powerbook G4 17" and the Wintel notebook goes away at the end of the week.
What issues can I look forward to between that and my XDA II?
MacOS X and MDA
I have Panther and MDAII, the communicate pretty well.
Suggest to buy the PocketMac software from www.pocketmac.net, the MissingSync promoted on the Apple website did not work out for me... (Maybe my fault.)
Happy Mac-ing!
I have PoweBook G4 and I-Mate.
PocketMac connected well via USB, but... never work via BT
If somebody can give any hint - would appreciate it.
Another problem - could not synhronize contacts - getting error message "another format XML"
Mark Space Missing Link for PocketPC works great to sync with isync... even works over BT on the mac!! Highly recommend

Does anyone use xda2 as a gprs modem on macos?? I cant connect
I have bought the mising link sofware also and it doesnt work
I have Pocket mac purely because I was told that it was the only one that works with Entourage. Its crap, gets the names round the wrong way, contacted tech support, 2 emails and they lost interest. I've just found the email:
"Yes that is correct, and my Entourage is the most up to date version 10.1.4. So to outline, it syncs, the Entourage contacts come in and you see a blank column where the name should be and then a full column where the numbers are. It is set to display contact by name, changing it to company or other does not make any difference. You then edit that contact, and sure enough the name is there. The only thing I have done to the XDA other than charge it is to unlock the sim to accept other ones. Also, the mail syncs but no information is displayed on the XDA, all the inbox, sent box, outbox, drafts box are empty. The Calendar does however seem to be working correctly. My Mac is a G4 867mhz with 512mb of ram running Panther. I am running version 3.3 of Pocketmac"
Well, I've been using Pocket Mac for a week now with perfect success. In fact, it works better than ActiveSync.
I still haven't figure out how to make the PowerBook use the XDA II for a GPRS connection though...

Hey Guys,
Due to my companies outdated exchange servers I am in need of a good realtime redirector. I read that Smartner Duality Pro is very good but it doesn't seem to work with Win Mo 5.0. Anyone have any more info on this or could recommend another Real Time Redirector that is compatible with the Wizard.
Thanks,
Alex
can't u ask them to upgrade the exchange server? ... i've used smartner duality before with my XDA 2S but i haven't really used it on a WM5.0 device ... i use an O2 XDA Exec now with mine connecting to our exchange server at the office and it's cool and everything but it has a 1 to 5 second delay compared to using blackberry ...
Cheers!
I have actually looked into it, and apparently they will be upgrading sometime this year, which could mean 2008 knowing this company. I have asked to be one of the first on when it gets up and running. For now I am looking for something to bridge me till that time.

I have used the smartphone client successfully on the vario for sometime, however most recently been having some TCP connectivity issues.

Hi Jim,
Could you tell me which device client did you use. When I tried the 4.1 PPC client it won't install, just hangs up. The Smartphone one does install, however it never initializes once I try to get it going.
Thanks,
A

Like you I have been waiting with less and less patience for a Smartner WM5 client.
Yesterday I think I found the solution but it does seem a good deal more expensive than Smartner.
http://www.esemail.net/index.htm
They do say that you get FULL support including calendars!!!!
My eval is on the way so I shall see.
Robin
Thanks Robin. Ill give it a shot as well and see how it works out.
Well I heard back from them, and they are only licensed to ditribute in Europe, so I am back on the search.
Some optimistic hopes declaims about mid february. Can't say for sure, I'll try to write here when confirmed.
I also heard back from Smartner, Seven, AlwaysOn....whatever their current name is. They will have an official Win Mo 5.0 client out by summer.
Has anyone found a workaround to this. I tried the cab file for Pocket PC and it just hangs on install. The smartphone edition one does install, but can't get it to intialize when I run it.

Smartner Duality and Win Mo 5.0
Contact Dan Metcalfe ([email protected]). In mid December he told me that they (Smartner/Seven) would be supporting WM 5.0 by January 2006 and the O2 mini S which I have. I decided I did not need it so I don't know if it has happened or not
AlexL,
I have this same issue. The work around is NOT to click the "OK" button in the warning dialog box about ActiveSync. Slide this box out of the way so you can get to the menu in the bottom right-hand corner. Under Menu, click on "Settings" -> double-click "Detail". In Detail change the Calendar Sync to "No". Finally, click Done. Then continue through the rest of the setup. Basically mail will work, but the calendar doesn't. There is something the Smartphone version doesn't like about the WM5 appointment database. In addition there are some settings that you can't get to. Like e-mail truncation sizes, etc...

Blaine
Chaps,
Having just upgraded my trusty iPAQ and V3 for a T-Mobile Vario I was mortified to find the PPC Duality 4 client for Lotus Notes won't work. Unfortunately tech support at my organisation won't distribute the smartphone client for me to try even though we have people using C500's.
I don't suppose someone who has access to the V4 Duality Pro Smartphone client could make a copy available?
This is not a request for pirate software as it is useless without the appropriate back end, it's just a frustrated techie who has got himself caught on the bleeding edge while the technology laggards in my IT department pontificate the relative merits of running 'mobile phone' software on a PDA.
Any help would be appreciated as I will look a bit of a tit using my iPAQ to access mail through the bluetooth/GPRS connection or a perfectly good WM5 PDA.
EDIT:
Well I take back what I said about the internal guys, they supplied me with the new V5 ppc client which is 2005/WM5 compatibe and it works a dream.
Regards
Dave
Windows Mobile 5 Client for Smartner Duality
Hi, we have been using the Smartner duality Professional edition, with a PC in the office pushing emails out to 5 mobile devices. I have upgraded everyone to TMobile Variois and the old 4.1 Windows 2003 client will no longer install. Anyone got access to a working Mobile 5 client? The internet only client will not install with the Push connector.
Many thanks

Does anyone know any program like IM + or agile or something that works on WM 6 or on the XDA LIVE...? i tried cracking the IM+ but it didn't work. Please can anyone tell me if any IM progrma or AIM or something that works on the XDA LIVE.. i really need one! Thanks!
~ Dj ~
from what ive seen both webmessenger and agilemessenger work just fine
did u purchase aglie and Web messenger or did u hack it? i wanna a good messenger but i'm not gonna pay 40 buxx for a lil software.. it's ridiculous
Hi, the older than dirt aim client that was hacked for wm5 still works, but won't install, I had just tried runnin the exe from my storage card on an old install on my wm5, and it worked fine
I see. i know the AIM 2.0 works on WM5 but does it work on WM6 ? i need a messenger that works on WM 6 A.K.A XDA LIVE. lol thanks!
Edit: I raised the version check in aim to install on wm6 normally, it can be found in the wm6 category at the site below.
aim for wm6
I tried running it it gives me an error and i tried running on my computer and it still gives a win32 socket. What should i do?

Buy IM+. LOL
imov
I have been using a program called imov messenger. As far as I know, it's free and it has AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, and Jabber. In order to use it, they require you to create a jabber account but it's fast and can be done from the phone. It's a good program for me. It can be downloaded at: http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/imovmessengerbasic.shtml
It works on wm5 and wm6 as far as I know.
i use octrotalk its free and has nice features.
Which one is the best free IM program for the 8525 in your opinions?
A comparison of the free available programs would be awesome.
Anyone have a messenger client that will support aim and such so I dont have to pay 30 dollars for im+ etc. I thought it could possibly be built into say WM6 black because I read that windows included it in their WM6 release for the T-Mo dash. If not anyone have a free aim client or a way around paying 20-30$
I found this AIM cab on like a UK AOL site I think, since they stupidly stopped making it in the US. It's kind of old, but it works!
http://rapidshare.com/files/30350469/aim.zip.html
There is also the Cingular one that uses SMS.
To use it, make sure you open PIE or something to get online as it won't automatically connect. When you first start it, go to send an IM, and it will prompt you for login information which it will save once you hit send.
You could also search for a cracked version of one of the commercial messengers. I'm not gonna post a link lol but you can PM if you want.
Just a update, or u could use a reg hack to make the hermes log onto the net everytime u booted the phone up, then u woud'nt have to remember to open Pie up and type a web address in to log onto the net, that's what i used to do but as i use wm6 now and my phone log's onto the net when i swich the phone on as i've got a exchange server setup on the phone. u can get the reg hack for loging onto the net auto by doing a search on xda. there is a free multi messenger program what i used to use called Imov basic u can download it and check out the screenshots from http://soft.softoogle.com/ap/imov-messenger-basic-download-1104.shtml. it's 100% free and works with jabber, google, msn, yahoo, aol & irc
Hi There,
I hope to post in the correct section.
My company is using Onebridge client to replicate Lotus Notes e-mails on our mobile phones.
Today, the implemented solution is working fine but on Symbian devices (we're using Nokia E71 phones).
As I was fed up about this one, I've bought from my side a HD2. By browsing the Internet, I've found on the Sybase web site the Onebridge client for Windows Mobile devices as a trial version. I've downloaded it and have installed the CAB into my Leo. Fine !
I've entered the various parameters to contact the server but at a certain point, I've been asked to enter an activation code which I don't have....
How can I get this code knowing that the IT department doesn't want to know more about my idea to swap for the HTC solution....
Thanks in advance for any helping hand.
Cheers from Switzerland.
Jean-Ma
What's your domino version? R8 has a something Traveller (comes free on the server) where WM and iPhone can get the mails without OneBridge.
Hi Alex,
Not sure about that, but we run Lotus Notes v.7.0...
Otherwise, I need to check this with my IT dpt....
Jean-Ma
I think this will not work without your IT department ...
You do not have a standalone software on your HD2. It needs also a Server who is connecting your notes database with the sync client.
Best regards,
dingolino
