Where to get the VGA cam for video calling? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have a 8525 and just replaced the casing for a Dopod unit.
I have the little hole now that is empty for the VGA camera located on the front.
Anyone know where I can buy or locate this camera so I can put it in?

sorry u can t buy a cam for ur 8525...
it is bult in or not ...
tytn is a version of the hermes with the cam
8525 is a version with out cam

sorry but there's no other way to say it ariaguest you are absolutely wrong... ;-)
you can actually buy the camera if you can manage to find it again on ebay.
after you buy it just open your case fit it in the correct place and now you should have a front working camera.
the only limitation if my memory serves me correct is that it might not work for video calls, but you can still use it for other purposes through a 3rd party app, at the moment i also forget what that is (busy flashing and trying out other roms on my little hermes)

Microsoft Portrait on xda2

have anybody been able to get the cam in xda2 working with Microsoft Portrait ?
i have tryed it..
all functions working ,can receive video calls (but without audio) or audio calls (but without video only) mah..
The Xda2 cam isnt supported and I've mailed to MsResearch who replyed me that they DO NOT plan a Xda cam support.
Good Microsoft..
Maybe someone can find and insert Xda2cam Driver into the app?
(now i am writing from my Xda2 with Multie, cool, isn't it?)
Regards

Yeah, of course they don't... first of all that would be the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer...
Secondly, that camera is on the wrong side of the PocketPC. Tell me how you are going to do a video call with the camera on the backside
d
use mirrors
or if you use video phoning to avoid going to the dentist you can just put the phone in your mouth and he can checkfor mildew and algae?s
But you don't wanna let us know about any demanding treatments the far side of your body would require, will you
no sorry ever since THAT picture series hit the internet i have don my best to pretend it's not me on those phones

Can the camera be upgraded?

Is the camera of the XDAII fixed to its current capability? Can it be replaced or upgraded - through hardware or software upgrade so that it becomes a 2Megapixel camera?
Thanks in advance.
it could be upgraded if you could find a cam with the same connectors
and that dident take up more space then the old one
and it would require working drivers and a new cam application to work
basicly it would most likely be troublesome if possible and it could cost more then buying a new pda with a better cam

GPS-Patchantenna for T-Mobile-Ameo (Athena, HTC Advantage)

Greetings @all,
first sorry for my terrible English.
The Ameo (Athena) is a great device and i really love it,
but there is something that let me go mad.
I´can´t find a GPS Patch Antenna for the device.
T-Mobile tell me that they can´t help me.
HTC doesn´t Answer until now.
Does any one know wich kind of Patch-Antenna I need for the Athena ?
I tried until know a Patch antenna for the Thypoon 3500, a MCX-Antenna and a MMCX-Antenna but they all doesnt fit. MCX was really close but still didn´t.
I need one because in my Car i have a Front Window with heating.
For any answer or hint i will be verry happy.
Jack
Are you SURE you need one? My ford has front screen heating, but the GPS works perfectly! The chipset seems to be pretty darn sensitive! I'm not sure the connector - in fact, which aerial socket is it on the back, the left or the right?
Look in the artemis forum
Look in the Artemis section. The premium package came with one, and I kept mine after selling the unit as non-premium. However, I have really not had to use it on any device yet.
There's a thread in there with part number etc.
Thanks, for the quick reply.
@Digital.Diablo:
sorry but i´m sure i need an external, i already tried it and i became no Satelites - I tried it with the programm Falk Navigator Pro SC and i´m driving
a Ford Focus Turnier with a new front screen heating. The Original one was heavy damaged by a stone.
@victoradjei
I will try the one for the Artemis with the Ameo(Advantage/Athena) and i will Report if it fits. I don´t find in the Artemis Forum the Name of the Connectorpin. Did you know its Name (for example: mcx )?
Greetings
Jack
It's Motorola standard antenna.

It might not be that you need an antenna.Check all of your settings! I am not familiar with your mapping software, but there is a thread somewhere regarding problems with other map software and how they solved it.
I can use mine inside of a 10 story building with Tom Tom on it and it works excellent!
Hope this helps..................Later
mine doesn't work in nearest and costliests car or on foot in most heavily wooded either(more important for me).
so If the parch antenna works please let me know. I'm loathe to carry around my bt gps, it's something else I'd need to carry an extra charger for!
unfortunatly, Artemis hasn't MMCX. I have GPS Shop and i checked it out.
@hdbueller:
well, outside the car i have no Problem to get a Sat fix.
also oh the rear window anything is fine, Tested it earlier just for fun.
@fards: I already tested mmcx and mcx both didn´t fit
I tried this product´s:
http://www.dealcatshop.de/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=85
and
http://www.dealcatshop.de/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=158
@MrHagen: you wrote you have a GPS Shop. Could you check wich one fits to the HTC Athena/Advantage X7500/T-Mobile-Ameo ?
@all: by the way, a lot of thanks for all your replies
Right now i wait for the Artemis Patch Antenna, in hope it will fit.
I will report, promise
Greetings Jack
Sounds like your windows are metallized. You could try driving with you're windows wound down! Let us know how you get on!
After Long Time waiting the Artemis Patch Antenna arived on Saturday,
I Tested it and damm doesnt fit. The Connector looks right but didn´t fit through the case. The hole ist too small for the connector.
Has anybody an Idea where i can find one that fits.
Greetings Jack
If i get a chance I'll ask gpsforless.co.uk
If they don't know but have a selection in stock I can call in and test some out on the way home from work if they'll let me..They aren't far from me

Jack
That's cool or maybe not...
Spoke to gpsforless last week, they hadn't got a clue what it was likely to be, not had a chance to call in yet as been working odd hours.
Connector: MS-147-C(LP)-2 HTC list that as the same as the P3300/artemis, Jack was your original patch cable a branded HTC one? it's the same item if it is.

Damm sounds not good, yes it was an Original HTC cable i ordered by expansys.de too. The Connector look´s right but doesnt fit through the hole in the Ameo metal case
Greetings Jack

Can u switch motherboard?

My question is if I get a an imate k-jam that has a bad motherboard would it be possible to switch the motherboard of my 8125 with the k-jams? and would it work fully? i'm not a pc tech or anything but I am able to dissassemble and repair laptops and pc's. if this were possible would I be capable of doing it? 'cos the keyboard on the 8125 is driving me crasy (button's jamming, unresponsive) and my friends k-jam's keyboard seem's like a hundred times better, so thats the main reason id want to. that and to change the case at the same time

I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to take them both apart and see if there are any differences in the main boards. Theoretically, they are the same. Realistically, they may be different shapes or laid out differently. I have taken my MDA apart before and the main board is unbelievably complex.
Sorry I can't be of much help, but I think that would be the only option is to just "look and see"
PS:: This should have been placed under the Wizard forum, not Wizard Mobile 6 as it is not related to the developement of WM6 or or any previous WM6 Roms created to date. Try to keep your posts in the correct forums.
Dan.
okay, thank u. and nice cat lol. nd i'll do that in the future. can the moderator move this thread to the appropriate section?
thanks. no one knows of this being tried before?
Yes, you can switch motherboards. I just switched a T-Mobile MDA motherboard into a Cingular 8125 and vice versa (swapping parts to try to figure out why touchscreen didn't work on the 8125).

That is actually really good to know. I have an old 8125 in the closet with a broken touch screen but I have been using my MDA with a broken USB port so all I would have to do is take my 8125 main board and swap it for my MDA main board and all will be fixed... Hmmm... I'm gonna have to try this.
that's not just good to know, it's awesome. thank's alot GnatGoSpat, nice screen name too lol

Main Camera replace. Is it Possible?

Hi all!
I´ve a problem with my htc touch dual main camera, 2 MP.When I open the photo application I have a vertical blue line on the screen . I think its an hardware problem.
I have a faulty htc S710 but the camera on it works great (2 MP also). Is it possible to take the camera on the S710 an put it on the nike?
If the above doesnt work, does anyone know how much it will cost put a new camera on the nike?
Thanks guys
I think you can change it, because camera module is exchangeable.
Also i don't think HTC uses different 2mp modules on they devices
The only problem is length of cabel, it may be not enought for dual

I would also think so... but after seeing both service repair manuals, the camera modules are different in size and on the vox dont exists a cable to conect to the camera ... I supose its not possible
You can see them here:
Touch dual: http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC Niki Service Manual.pdf
S710(VOX):http://www.mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC VOX Service Manual.pdf
my nike is dead, wanna buy the camera?
