Auto PIN code entry - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Not all sim card allows the user to configure startup without entering pin code. Mine doesn't so I've searched for some small utility run at system startup which would enter the pin code automatically.
There's an option like that in one backup program so it's possible. If the program exists please direct me to it.
If it does not exist maybe someone can write simple command line app as an exercise?

I know PhoneAlarm from PocketMax can do this for you. It is an advanced option in (PhoneAlarm configuration -> Last tab About -> click on little Configuration image link -> search through the text file for PIN/SIM)
PhoneAlarm is no freeware, but it's the only one I know of that could do it. so you could try and see...
And it has so much other very nice and unique features, that it's worth it's money

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but auto pin entry in PhoneAlarm doesn't work for me (Wizard with NBD 9.2).

didn't try it myself, i prefer a pin request.
but you could try to post your problem on the pockemax forum, they are very fast in support.

you could try writing a simple script in Mortscript. AFAIK everybody who seriously tries and reads the mortscript description can do it. It's very much like editing config.sys or autoexec.bat for DOS computers.

I could do so if a knew the registry key with that value: the two PIN codes. But I've been looking for them without results. I use scripts to find operator name, but nothing about PIN codes. Any suggestion?

Mortscript can simulate a sequence of key presses and stylus clicks, use that just the way you type in your PIN manually.

I've tried to send my pin code with CR to the "Phone" (that's the name on the title bar when the pin kaypad is visible) application but it tries to dial that number.
Anyone succeed?

Asking software developers
I know at least two applications that have this option: SBSH PhoneWeaver 1.2 and SPB Backup. Maybe if somebody knows something about the "internals" of this aplicattions can develop a similar aplicattion to do this...

Hi,
I had the same issue and i also couldn't find any dedicated tool or app to solve that. So i decided to write a simple program that will dial a PIN into that PIN entry dialog for me.
But shortly i found HTC's app Windows\CMPin.exe on my Diamond2's Natoha Rom which solves the problem in a correct way. It comes with HTC's Phone dialer. It works fine!
Anyway if you don't have the CMPin.exe on your device or you couldn't find its cab then you still can use my SIM PIN Unlocker.
Here the tool SIM PIN Unlocker!
To use it you only need to install it and set the registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SIM_PIN_Unlocker\PIN from 0000 (this is disabled state) to your pin entry (6902 for example), and here we go
It runs on startup and once it dialed the PIN into PIN entry dialog and sends "enter" key it closes. It will dial the PIN only once, in case the PIN was wrong you will still have 2 more attempts to enter the right PIN, and sure change the registry value to a correct one.
The tool will exit after a minute if it couldn't manage to find the PIN entry window.
I have tested in on mt Diamond2 and HTC Prophet (i-mate JamIn), on both works fine.

How to remove installed input methods on Windows Mobile 5

Hi all,
I don't have any use for the input methods "Block Recogniser", "Letter Recogniser" or "Transcriber" and I'd like to remove them.
I've recently installed another virtual keyboard, and I can't get it to load - I've been lead to believe this can occur if you've got too many keyboards loaded (only the default ones + the CoPilot keyboard) or too much stuff loaded in the Today screen (*cough* maybe LOL).
Is it just a registry setting (like the today screen) or is it something more fundamental?
Thanks
Jon
I dont thnk you can remove the defaults SIP as they are in the ROM, however you may remove them from the list. Check the wiki at WM5 section for the reg tweak to it.
As for your second question, I'm not sure, but I have 3 additional SIP there, it seems working just fine, and I have 3-4 things on my Today screen.
Ok, now the other question, how to manually ADD SIP? Other than copying files, one may need some regitstry tweaks... Any idea?
For example, i want to add japanese SIP to English ROM...
Use a CAB manager to open up the SIP CAB installation file, and look at what they've done.
BTW, a 'friendly' warning, doing things on the SIP registry can potentially freeze your phone upon any softreset, hence making your phone useless without hardreset. So, make a backup before doing anything and prepare for a hardreset.
A few notes:
1) All SIPs are registered under HKCR\CLSID\{SIP CLSID} If you do a search of those keys looking for value containing SIP name as it appears on the menu you will find it. To disable SIP delete its key.
But as hanmin already pointed out: Be careful when messing with registry and SIPs in particular!
2) Generally built in SIPs don't count for the "too many SIP" scenario. If you have 5 or more 3rd party SIPs installed that could be the problem. Other wise it might be missing DLL, bad registry or internal problem with the software. Also in AKU 2 and up devices 3rd party SIPs may stop loading after a while (like a day of use or so) until you soft reset device.
This can be prevented by toggling through them on startup. There is an app on the forum here somewhere to do just that.
3) SIP registry (assuming it doesn't need custom settings) looks like this:
HKCR\CLSID\{SIP CLSID}
default (string) SIP Name
HKCR\CLSID\{SIP CLSID}\InProcServer32
default (string) sipdll.dll
HKCR\CLSID\{SIP CLSID}\IsSIPInputMethod
default (dword) 1
Unfortunately, usually there is no way to find SIPs CLSID from the outside to create the key.
However, every SIP must contain a DllRegisterServer function, which when called will create the needed registry entries. If you can find something similar to regsvr32.exe for the PPC you should be able to safely register the SIP.
Once again: putting the DLL under windows and registering the SIP does not guarantee that it will work or that your device recovers from soft reset.
Be sure to backup your data!
{ok, I think that's enough fun with styles and colors for now}
You could also try Tweaks2K2.NET. With this program you can hide the SIP's you don't want to show on your device
Thanks for the info levenum. I will analyse working Japanese ROM SIP now... Will report if find something usefull...
Does removing an SIP from the list make it pop up faster when clicking the arrow to bring up the list??

Mortscript for iphone theme?

Hi, I had installed an "iphone" theme and had read that I can write a mortscript so that it would dial a specific #, but do not have all the info (it was 3am).
The website's currently down, so I can't ask questions there atm. Can someone help me?
I wanted to use page2 as a "picture contact phone dial" and wonder if this is correct:
1. Have a .bmp file and name it "Joe"
2. Write a mortscript and name it Joe.
a. Is it: Run("Program Files\VJDialer.exe 123456
b. the 123456 would be the phone #, right?
c. do I need the area code too, if it's within the same zone?
3. Assign the "Joe" icon to one of the icons on page2.
4. The path for that icon would be \program files\mortscript\joe.exe
Would clicking on the "joe" icon call up the phone & dial Joe's #?
I got it to work early this morning as a test, but when I went to delete that path and put in some else's #, it no longer works. I can assign the button to that file (exe) but it doesn't do anything. I am wondering if my mortscript is incorrect? Did I miss something crucial?
Thanks
MortScript Dialing
I use Vijay555.com's VJDailer and a 2 line .mscr Script:
Number="##########"
Run("\Program Files\vijay555\VJDialer.exe",&Number)
--Of Course Replace the ### with the number you want
Using cprog.exe does work, but it will prompt to check the number which is kinda annoying. To use cprog.exe It would look like this:
Number="########## "
param="-n -url tel:" & &last
Run("cprog.exe",&param)
Good Luck.
Did you ever get this to work. I have set up the iphone config to execute the mort script, but nothing happens.
When I click directly on the mort script from explorer, it makes the call.
I'm using Grumpy's latest iphone screen program.
Thanks.
I did some more searching and am just usingthe cprog 2 button method for now. I'll check back in on this later.

How do I truly remove HTC SIP keyboard?

Guys, I need to remove the HTC keyboard/keypad (pic below for clarity) as I am using CooTek's TouchPal and the HTC option keeps on popping up as the default (altho it is not set as the default).
I HAVE used the reghack to disable the CLSID key, which removes the SIP fromt he list of SIPS, BUT it still pops up a lot despite not being the default.
Uninstall does not work; I suspect as several files are in use which also manifest as errors during backup. I need to completely disable this SIP (perhaps in some sort of safe mode) then uninstall the files. They are not processes I can stop, nor can I see a service that can be stopped.
Any bright ideas? Extensive searching shows nothing on this. Device is an Elf/Touch.
same thing here, I would love to get rid of this thing. It is totally driving me nuts.
Use a program called "SIPChange" After you select the SIP of your choice, soft reset and you'll be set.
You can also disable HKLM\Software\Tegic (the hole folder).

Yep, that did the trick: deleted key, reboot, uninstall then works.
Thanks a stack!
Did you truly succeed in totally getting rid of it? HOW? It's in ROM; the .dll's won't unregister, can't be deleted. I deleted the reg key and rebooted--no change. Modified the key under CLSID, rebooted, and it wasn't listed in the list, but it was the first input method to come up anyway! I love the Touch, but I hate this thing. Very grateful for any help.
Later: OK, I think I got it. Some combination of deleting the Tegis key and zero-ing out the CLSID keys.... It seems to be gone...but I'm keeping a hammer close at hand, just in case.
anybody here can give out a workable sequence of actions to get rid of stock keyboard on HTC Touch? thanks
This procedure worked for me:
0. First, set the default input method to something other than HTC Keyboard or HTC Keypad (search these forums for reg hack or "defaultIM.exe");
1. Search the device's registry for "issip" (short for "issipinputmethod");
2. At each found "1", go up to the parent key and identify the input method;
3. When you find each of "HTC Keyboard" and "HTC Keypad" input method, go up to its parent key (the long numeric string) and *delete that whole key* (for safety, export it first so you'll have a backup);
4. Now go into HKLM\Software and *delete*the whole "Tegis" key.
5. Soft reset.
Notes: (a) Merely setting "issipinputmethod" to "0" for the unwanted items was not effective. (b) Since those unwanted input methods are part of ROM, there's nothing in "Remove Programs" to uninstall. I did try explicitly installing them (you can find the .cab in these forums), then uninstalling, but that was useless.
P.S. If you'll export the reg keys from steps 3 and 4 and upload or PM them to me, I'll turn them into a "remover" to make this easier for others in future.
can you plase explaine what you main in this step:
{{{4. Now go into HKLM\Software and *delete*the whole "Tegis" key.}}}
thank you
If I understood your original question, you want to remove the "HTC Keyboard" and "HTC Keypad" input methods. The "Tegis" key in the device's registry, under H_Key_Local_Machine\Software, contains information about those input methods and must be deleted. If you don't see any "Tegis" key, then the Trinity must be different in some way.
i have "ADW version 1.1 WWE" ROM
the default HTC keyboard in this rom is only keyboard, I did the procedure you mentioned but in point 4 i did not see "Tegis" i have "Tegic" and i delete it but after soft rest the system freeze and i was forced to hard reset.
Found CLSID reg keys
I use Total Commander for accessing the register, but the search option does not work in there.
So I went through the ID's by hand. It took some time, but hell, it pays off if the annoyance is gone!
The CLSID's:
Touch-toetsenbord (Touch-keyboard):
{62B00599-25D2-4e09-8C48-03BF26DB8517}
Touch-toetsenblok (Touch-keypad):
{198D503A-EFFE-4afd-BC54-EED333C80E6D}
I found this in the HTC Touch Cruise WM6 (original) Dutch language.
If there is a typo in my strings, just look for the first part, before the first "-".
I hope it helps, just like it helped me.
can those who have done it successful tell us if restarting
your phone now takes a longer time?
I've tried disabling the default keyboard, and switching it to
PCM keyboard. Then remove default from list and make PCM keyboard
the new default.
I find that startup takes longer after that.
Hard resetted twice.
Is this method of complete removal better?
Unable to reboot now!

ok.. let me make this simple for everyone.
SIPChange DOES work.. for everyone (for supported OS)
the thing is, that there's a delay you need to apply for it. now.. i know the delay box in SIPChange is problematic.. so i what i did to solve this (on 4 different devices) is to change the delay in the registry.
now the tricky part is, that each different device, with each different rom and it's different set of programs installed has a different sipboot delay. so what you need to do is increase the delay until it works. this will take a few resets but .. what to do
put this in a reg file and change the delay everytime...
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\The Paradigm Group\sipchange\Parameters]
"Delay"=DWORD:000000A0
change the value (Hexadecimally!) until it works. (to my knowledge it could move between 10 to 30 seconds (between a stacked polaris and a stuffed wizard))
now.. make SURE you chose the right SIP you wanted before you do that (or change the reg value for it (it's in the same regfolder).
enjoy.
My 2 Cents
I've been battling with this on my HTC Touch Diamond, trying both Resco Keyboard Pro 5.11 and TouchPal 3.5 and have discovered the following:
(1) Even using SIPChange or SKTools to change DefaultIM, I cannot get any non-HTC/non-Microsoft keyboard layout to be persistent across a soft reset.
(2) If I set any HTC layout (Full QWERTY, Compact QWERTY or Dial Pad) or the standard (small) keyboard as my input method, it is persistent across soft resets.
(3) According to Microsoft (on MSDN):
The default Input Method must be signed with a privileged or unprivileged certificate so that it can successfully load during the boot process.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
My assumption is that either these 3rd party keyboard layouts are not signed, or that HTC is doing something "special" that allows their keyboard layouts to be persistent across a soft reset... possibly some code in WM releases past the AKU2 Windows Mobile 5 ROMs that checks for a "non-preferred" input method as DefaultIM and if it finds one in the DefaultIM registry key reverts it back to the standard keyboard layout.
I would use the HTC Full QWERTY layout (or even the Compact one) if it had one feature: Feedback sound! I find it annoying that they provide no audible feedback (or even a visual cue) when you press a key. At least Resco and TouchPal do that!

Change your Default Contact Manager Ver 0.01

I made it as simple as possible to change your prefered Contact Manager, my friend uses iContact, which seems quite popular here. As downloaded, the script is setup for iContact, but to change it all you have to do is edit the first 2 lines with a text editor.
Run the script and your Softkeys, and Links, all call up iContact, run again and it switches back to Office (Outlook) Mobile!
Does not support 3rd party software, such as SPB Mobile Shell, for SPB Mobile Shell support see this thread.
MortScript is requied, download it here.
I hope you find this useful!
To use:
1. Download and unpack the ZIP file.
2. Edit the first 2 lines in the MSCR file, notepad works fine for this.
set AltContactsName, "iContact"
set AltContactsPath, """\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"""
3. Copy to your device, and make a shortcut.
4. Click the shortcut and answer the "Yes or No" question.
5. Repeat step 4 to swap between the two contact managers!
Once again Great Scripting..
I installed mortscript, ran it, and it said iContact was my default, I whent back to my Today screen, pressed contacts, and it said it wasnt digitally signed, or something of the sort. So, now when I revert back, and try to change again, it wont even give me that message, it just automatically goes to Office Contact manager.
Could anyone please help me? I'm kinda new to all this..
---
Nevermind, I'm and idiot. I put the iContact folder in the device root. heh.
Also, would it be possible to change the Calendar if you change:
"set AltContactsName, "iContact"
set AltContactsPath, """\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"""
to
set AltCalendarName, "PROGRAM"
set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\PROGRAM\PROGRAM.exe"""

alterantively, another way to set icontact or any other contact program without any scripting is to just go and edit this registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
and edit key #1 to the path of your program. pm contacts edits this value to make their program the default. So for iContact, do the same thing. Make sure you back it up in case you would like to go back, but it's not that difficult tho.
edit: sorry didn't know this was a toggle manager where you siwtch between default and icontacts. in either case, the registry key may be good to know, lol

Hi guys. Anyone get this working on the Omnia? I've been playing around trying to get iContact to work, with no luck.

I see it's been a couple of months since the last post in the thread. Has anyone figured anything out for us Omnia users?

it wont stay after a reset. (soft)
i got so tired of the sim contacts that i deleted all the sim contacts. Just back up your HD with a good backup program. I do that every day. YOU need that especially if you mess with the registry and stuff. You can always get them back by saving all of them back to SIM. ITS EASY!!!!!!!! AT LEAST, no sim contacts are showing now...its great.
Why don't you use the search button?
There is a good thread and a problem solving cab still around.
You can also use the Advanced Configuration Tools. Under Phone, there is an option to show SIM card contact. Set it to no and soft reset.
You're not the only one who says that after soft reset it comes back. Try to switch off the device, wait for 20 seconds before soft reseting to ensure that the registry changes stick.

I have exactly the same problem : none of the solutions (registry edit, Advanced Configuration Tools or th CAB "SIM fix" file) works : SIM contacts are back after every soft-reset/power off.
just put the file under No. 9 (yJay.HideSim) in your autostart folder

its not working! looks like that the exe wont started from the autostart folder. When i start it manually I get rid of the sim contacts...
Very quick question, but if I want to solve this by deleting contacts from the sim, where in autosynch can I save contacts to my p.c.? I can't see it, do I have to use outlook to achieve this?
I end up with no contacts on my sim. It's risky couse I got no backup. I simply do know how to do it. Any sugestions, please ....
Anyone foud a good solution, so we can keep contacts on sim as well as in device memory yet ?

Use PIM Backup. It's the best and free.
I found a (workaround) solution that may help you deactivate SIM contacts from showing in your list without the need of deleting them.
First of all, I found this trick when tried to use Gyrator2 application, which seems to fail during reset/start of the device. It is called DelayedExec and it is using for a delayed start of any application you want.
For example, you can set "yJay.HideSim.exe" to start with a delay of 90 seconds after starting up your device. Just a put a shortcut in your Windows\StartUp folder with the following syntax:
"\Windows\delayedExec.exe" 90 "\Windows\yJayHideSim.exe"
Of course you need to copy those 2 exes in Windows folder (or anywhere else) and edit the paths if needed. Also you can use another program like MortScript to do this task.
90 seconds should be enough time to write your SIM PIN (if you have one) so that the sim contacts will be loaded and the delayed application will hide them.
Thanks. This is not necessary anymore. You can use the updated version:

Just copy yJay.HiseSIM to your device, make a shortcut to \Windows\AutoStart / StartUp
Ok i finally got it !!!!!!
I've tried all simfix but it never worked for me.
It seems that the contact fix works only if have installed just few apps. But if you've got a lot of app launching at the start of the HD it wil not work.
So take the kaisersimfix one for exemple. Install it. Remove the KaiserContactsSimFix.Lnk from the \windows\startup (\windows\demarrer for froggies ) cos it launch itself too fast and the registry key modified by the kaiser fix will return to 1 (showsim) by i don't which app .
Take PHM regedit and go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Bootlauncher\Apps
Create a new Key with the name you want (for exemple SimFix) with the value name "module" and value name with the exe and his FULL path of the fix you have chosen (for exemple kaiser one: \Program Files\KaiserSimFix\KaiserContactsSimFix.exe).
Add another value name "sleep" with "the value data" 8000 (in decimal or 1f40 in Hex).
And TADA that done Folks !!!!!!
ING HideSIM V 2.1.cab - HTC HD 100% OK
