I'm looking for a small .exe file that can switch to Today screen without closing applications (like 'Today' option in SBP Pocket +)
Why, you'll ask me ?
Because I'd like to switch to today screen with my voice using Microsoft "Voice Command"
I'm already able to :
- Power off
- suspend
- soft reset
- Rotate screen
my Magician with some little applications command by voice but I can't find an exe file to switch to today screen...
Thanks in advance
I find what I was looking for
I post it there if it interests somebody...
I use PHM Keys for Pocket PC a freeware developed by Philippe Majerus
I extract PHMKeys.exe (34 Ko) and put it in \Program Files\Today (but you can put it wherever you want)
After this I create a shortcut in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs to PHMKeys.exe with this Target :
Code:
"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe" Today?"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe",-117
I name it Today.lnk
That way when I pronounce "Launch Today" the today screen appears
Very interesting because I also use VC. And I do want to use it for more, than the built-in abilities.
1. How to create a shortcut and what do its elements mean?
2. How to switch between full volume/no volume + vibra? Built in command only changes telephone volume.
3. How do your other named shortcuts look like? (Power off and so on)
I think u can just say "start today" on voice command without any extra addon. I just tried it and it worked.
RE
Hi DocteurN
Can share how to use VC to
- Power off
- suspend
- soft reset
- Rotate screen
and what programs are required?
Thanks
I would realy REALY like to add skype ability to VC.
Much like as the call command works, but instead of a regular, using SkypeOut.
Like saying:
say: Skype <conctact name>
VC response: home or mobile
say: Mobile
I know it's like: offering a finger and trying to take the whole arm, but this would be realy convenient.
Anyone an idea if this could be accomplished?
Chatty > to create shortcut I use Resco Explorer : I Tap and Hold on PHMKeys.exe then Copy. Second Tap and Hold then Paste Shortcut.
A file named PHMKeys.lnk is created.
Rename it Today.lnk for example
Make a tap and hold on this file then Properties > Shortcut
That where you copy :
Code:
"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe" Today?"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe",-117
Copy the link in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs and that's all
ioneng > Yes you're right !
but I'm using the french version of VC and I made a wrong translation of what I said
FOSA > I'm using little exe files (freewares) I've found on the net and that extracted from packages
Here they are :
Heimiko > Sorry for Skype I've got no idea...
Seeking deeply in 'PHM Keys' I find that you can use PHMKey.exe for a lot of interesting things just by creating shortcuts
Here are what you can do (text is from PHM site) :
Today - Returns to Today screen
My Documents - Opens My Documents folder
Close - Closes active program
Task Switch - Toggles between running programs
Next Window - Cycle through open programs forward
Prev. Window - Cycle through open programs backward
Undo - Cancels previous action
Redo - Cancels previous undo action
Cut - Cuts the selected item
Copy - Copies the selected item
Paste - Pastes the selected item
Page Up - Move one page up / to previous page
Page Down - Move one page down / to next page
Volume +/- Changes Volume
Lock - Shows the system password screen
Suspend - Turns off your Pocket PC
Rotate - Next display orientation clockwise
Rotate Left - Toggle display between 0° and 270°
Rotate Right - Toggle display between 0° and 90°
Rotate Reverse - Toggle display between 0° and 180°
I make a zip of all this shortcuts.
You just have to copy PHMKeys.exe in \Windows and the lnk files in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs (you'd better create a folder before copy)
You can rename lnk files the way you want and it would work with VC
Now I'm looking for an exe file that can mute/unmute the volume.
You launch it one time => mute
A second time => unmute
I only find this utility : AutoMute (11 Ko)
But it intended to turn the volume down for a specific interval of time...
Anybody knows an application that does that ?
RE
Hi DocteurN,
Thanks for the files.
Just one question though. When you use VC to activate the files (like reset, poweroff, screensave etc) is there a pop up message box which says "Are you sure you want to xxxxx...Yes..No" upon which you manually tap either YES or NO action or that it'll execute the program stratightway without any pop up message box?
BTW, where to install all the mentioned files?
Thanks again
No, there is no popup, the program is execute straightway
Where to install the files ?

Hi!
I think your Reset has a problem.
When I click on it it pops up a message "Are you sure you want to rest your Pocket PC? Any unsaved data will be lost."

No, Why ?
That what does a soft reset... If you haven't saved your data (a Word document for exemple you'll lost it)
If you're afraid it does a hard reset, that not the case

Hi DocteurN,
There's another soft reset freeware utility which soft resets immediately WITHOUT a pop-up message. I managed to find on the net which does the job nicely.
RE
Hi noviur,
VC cannot read email to you.
What you need is a TTS (text-to-speech) 3rd party program. I think one of the Toshiba's PPC has a simple TTS engine built-in
Thank you, Fosa
I know that it can not... but thought may be somebody tweak it
I was looking for any TTS application for PPC... Found something called Fonix Voice Central - they described it as app, which is doing it - i tried - no way
any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi DocteurN,,
See attached
I've been trying to find the WM6 tweak to rename/reallocate the bottom pair of soft keys on my home page 'Phone' and 'Contacts'. I have hard keys for both so current config is redundant.
The WM5 tweaks (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other) don't seem to be tottally relevant (I have changed my default input device which works fine) as I only have 'Htc_default.tsk' as a sub under HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today no 'Keys' option.
I've exoprted the registry (TRE editor) but can't find an equivalent 'key' value to edit.
Is it because I'm using HTChome?
Any guidance will be much appreciated.
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/remapsoftkeys.shtml
?
i use the attached softkey_applet.cab, which is in this forum.
here is a site with other registry tweaks. my favorite, especially useful for the BA with this rom, is the one to minimize pressure when tapping the screen... http://www.pocketpctweaks.com/pocketpc_tweaks/view_all_tweaks
The pocketPCtweaks reflects the info in the wiki but cheers anyway.
Thanks for CAB will give it a run and post results.
Pressure minimise has made block recognition input faster and much more accurate - A recommended tweak
This tweak works exactly the same like on WM5. You actually need to create those keys.
Hi do anyone know how to create NEW SMS soft key button, which file to link the button to??
1. save the following text to notepad:
10#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -body "
emperor83"
2. in the foregoing, the filename will end in .txt (eg. New SMS.txt). rename the filename extension from .txt to .lnk (eg. New SMS.lnk)
3. copy to your ppc
4. use the softkey application to assign it (eg. New SMS.lnk) to a softkey
5. whenever you click on the said softkey, the new SMS will be activated.
* please note that you can change emperor83 with any text you want (eg. Freddie Krueger); it will be subsequently displayed in the message body

Thank you, it works!! U r great
I made it as simple as possible to change your prefered Contact Manager, my friend uses iContact, which seems quite popular here. As downloaded, the script is setup for iContact, but to change it all you have to do is edit the first 2 lines with a text editor.
Run the script and your Softkeys, and Links, all call up iContact, run again and it switches back to Office (Outlook) Mobile!
Does not support 3rd party software, such as SPB Mobile Shell, for SPB Mobile Shell support see this thread.
MortScript is requied, download it here.
I hope you find this useful!
To use:
1. Download and unpack the ZIP file.
2. Edit the first 2 lines in the MSCR file, notepad works fine for this.
set AltContactsName, "iContact"
set AltContactsPath, """\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"""
3. Copy to your device, and make a shortcut.
4. Click the shortcut and answer the "Yes or No" question.
5. Repeat step 4 to swap between the two contact managers!
Once again Great Scripting..
I installed mortscript, ran it, and it said iContact was my default, I whent back to my Today screen, pressed contacts, and it said it wasnt digitally signed, or something of the sort. So, now when I revert back, and try to change again, it wont even give me that message, it just automatically goes to Office Contact manager.
Could anyone please help me? I'm kinda new to all this..
---
Nevermind, I'm and idiot. I put the iContact folder in the device root. heh.
Also, would it be possible to change the Calendar if you change:
"set AltContactsName, "iContact"
set AltContactsPath, """\Program Files\iContact\iContact.exe"""
to
set AltCalendarName, "PROGRAM"
set AltCalendarPath, """\Program Files\PROGRAM\PROGRAM.exe"""

Glad you figured out the iContact, was going to suggest checking your path, as far as calendar check the calendar thread and don't forget to double check your paths.
for those that are not working do a soft reset, this should be included in instructions
as the previous one. wonderful, thank you very much.
alterantively, another way to set icontact or any other contact program without any scripting is to just go and edit this registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
and edit key #1 to the path of your program. pm contacts edits this value to make their program the default. So for iContact, do the same thing. Make sure you back it up in case you would like to go back, but it's not that difficult tho.
edit: sorry didn't know this was a toggle manager where you siwtch between default and icontacts. in either case, the registry key may be good to know, lol

how can i get Softkeys.cab?
change contact application in diamond
How can I change the contact application on the Diamond screen ("All contcacts") to use iContact?
The script that was mentioned does not change the touchflo contacts soft button.
Is there a way to make this work for instance I'm sending an e-mail and click on add new recipient, then icontact will pop up instead of MS contacts? Even after a soft reboot, the mortscript did not seem to do this. Thanks!

doesn't work on my omnia either
Hi guys. Anyone get this working on the Omnia? I've been playing around trying to get iContact to work, with no luck.
What I'd really like to do is get the Samsung Phonebook app to be used everywhere, i.e. when create new message/email etc. From messaging, when you add a recipient it brings up the normal contacts screen - cant seem to change this.
Cheers
Default contacts manager
Did anyone sort this prob. Open new email or sms message, click on the 'to' field and select contacts to open the contact manager of your choice rather than the awkqard default one ?

any resolution for us Omnia users?
I see it's been a couple of months since the last post in the thread. Has anyone figured anything out for us Omnia users?
I manually edited my registry entries to reflect the install directory of iContacts, then powered the phone off completely. However, it doesn't seem to have made a change whatsoever.
Anything else need changing?

Hello,
i think it's just a simple problem, but i couldn't solve it till now lol.
On the one hand there's the program-path on windows, and on the other hand there's another on tf3d, which u can reach by the tf3d icons (2 pics to show at attachments).
I just wanna know how to add programs to the way with tf3d. Or isn't that possible?
Just click on the empty gray icon with a plus in it. Then you get the "add program" dialogue.
well ye, i'm sorry, my bad english in this thread is leading for missunderstandings.
U r right ofc, but that's not my problem. I meant how to add programs which r not in the list!
So for example: i installed mobile navigator and i wanna have the program in that path. There're just about 10 programs in the list and no button like 'add more programs'.

I see.
I think the list of "Add programs" applications comes from the \windows\start menu\programs directory.
So, if you want to add a program to TF3D program Tab you first need to copy a short-cut link to the program into the above directory.
UPDATE: It looks like the TF3D collects all programs in the \windows\start menu directories (not just the "Programs" directory). So, make sure there is a link to the application you want somewhere there.
Then, add using the empty grey icon. Finally, if you wish, delete the link to the file.
thx for ur answer, but it didn't solve the problem. As it seems, it hasn't anything to do with each other. The files in \windows\start menu\programs r just for the start-menu, and the files in \windows\start menu\ i dunno what they r for. Neither putting an app in the first, nor putting it in the second path causes anything.
I had a closer look at the folders in the \windows folder, but didn't found anything which could have to do with touchflo!
The most important thing i noticed:
When i go for the icon on touchflo, first there's the screen which program i wanna start. Now i can tab on the 'plus' which normaly therefor is used to add more programs, such as everyone would expect it. Normally so far! but now: in the next screen (look attached pic #2 from first post) there's no dialoge like 'add more applications' (like i said before). So the only way to fix this problem is about windows. But there's no folder i saw. I think finding the right place for the apps is the only way to fix it.

Hi, sorry it did not work - we need a better expert to understand this than me !
clearly TF3D is getting a list of possible applications from somewhere. I thought this was the \windows\start menu directory.
I don't know where else - maybe the registry, etc ???
well, me neither, else i wouldn't have started this topic.
I wondered founding nothing with the search function. I can't believe that i'm the only one with this question. In my opinion the function of that "Apps-Site" is a luxurious advantage of the phone, also having the fact to reach it that simply by tf3d, and not over the start-menu.
But, i really dunno how to fix it... registry could be a possibility, but i dunno much about it, so i'll keep my hands out of it, at least with self-testing..
Well, maybe another one can help me?
Ok, i concentrated on the registry now, but didn't find anything which could have to do with my problem.
So no1 can help me with this problem?

This is the way it should (and does) work.
Adding a shortcut to the windows\startmenu(\programs) folder will also show the application in the WM program path, so check there to verify if you added an application shortcut or perhaps did something else.
Also make sure you don't have more than 6 programs added to the Windows\Startmenu folder itself as it will not work properly otherwise.
If I understand the problem correctly, you want to add a shortcut of a given program in the All Programs list.
Easily done, here's the procedure :
- make sure you have installed the HouMing File Explore Extension ;
- now open File Explorer ;
- search the file you want to see in the All Programs list ;
- touch and hold the file name until a context menu appears ;
- choose 'Send Shortcut to Prog ...' ;
DONE !
Now you can choose your program and add it to the list.
omfg -.-"
i found the solution...when i tried to hit the 'plus' and reached the "all programs" screen, there have been just a few programs, like on my screen showed. I didn't know, that i can scroll down those programs!!! The whole time i thought, there would be just these 10 programs.
So the only problem was not knowing that i can scroll in that screen through all those programs...
I'm really sorry for my own stupidness!!!
Thanks to every1 for helping me... *head -> wall*
He he, good news.
I understand entirely. I was surprised ages ago by the tap & hold function !!

Hey you guys this is off subject but it also involves this thread..
ok, so we only have about 30 shortcuts on our programs tab right? well i added more, so now i have up to 51 shortcuts on my programs tab. i click on the extra ones added and everything goes well until after selecting a primary program to add, it doesnt add.
this is what i did.. maybe i missed a step!
Open Regedit and i went to the following root
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher.
i created new folders 31-51 and inside each folder i created the following strings and dword:
String Values Name: Command
String:
String Values Name: DispName
String:
String Values Name: IconPath
String:
String Values Name: Path
String:
DWORD Value Name: IsReadOnly
Data : 0
Then i went to the following root:
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\totalItemCount.
and i changed the DWORD Data to 51.
i Restarted my phone and i stopped there.
Please advice cause this would be pretty badass if we can keep adding to our programs tab.
Solutions found, thread closed
Okay, so I'm using Google Voice with call presentation on, and I want to setup a shortcut to send a '1' to the phone to accept an incoming call. I just got a bluetooth watch and I want to be able to have the watch send the key so I don't need to dig out my phone when I'm in the car.
So, to test this a little bit I installed KeyPress and I setup that if I double press my start button in AE Buttons, it runs KeyPress with the parameter of 97. This works perfectly. No issues at all.
But when I try to create a short cut, everything fails. If I just press tap VJKeyPress, I get the little "help" screen. If I create a shortcut, and tap it, I also get the help screen. But when I try to modify the shortcut to pass the '97', then it fails.
I'm guessing that I'm missing something in the syntax, but I can't figure it out.
I have the path, in quotes:
"\P F\vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe"
Then I've put 97 at the end just plain, in quotes, in <>, I've put in right behind the .exe inside the quotes... Nothing seems to work at all. I'm at a total loss.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Hi,
Could you send me a screenshot of the configuration screen in AE Buttons.
I can't think why it wouldn't work, but what you could do is create a normal shortcut that launches VJKeypress with the required parameters, and then use AE Button to launch that .lnk shortcut itself, rather than VJKeyPress.exe
Should you get really stuck, VJBrisk might be able to help you, but I think the above should be adequate.
Drop me a PM (and post in the thread) again if you get stuck.
V
Oops... I didn't think I explained myself properly.
The AE Buttons is WORKING. It's the normal shortcut link that I can't get to work... and that's the thing I really need to get working.
Sorry, my bad, didn't read it properly.
I normally put example shortcuts in my cabs, but curiously I've got none in the cab on my phone. Can't believe the app is nearly 5 years old! Wow.
Anyway, I just tried making a shortcut.
If you paste the following:
Code:
55#"\Program Files\Vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe" 133
into a text document, and rename it Test.lnk, and copy that over to your phone, it should create a shortcut that locks your phone.
If that works, just change the parameter to do what you want.
What app are you using to create shortcuts?
And what's the significance of the \p\f in your first post?
V
A bit more information...
I tried to write a simple MortScript to run this as well. According to the MortScript manual, to run an app, you use this command:
Run ( "\path\AppName" [,"Parameter"] )
In other words, the path and the command first, and then put in the optional parameter. When I put in just the app name:
Run( "\Program Files\vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe" )
And run the script, I get the little help popup as I would expect. When I put in the parameter:
Run( "\Program Files\vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe" , "97" )
Nothing happens.

Okay, so using the '133' definitely worked, but when I change it to 97 (the code to send NumPad1), it doesn't work.
But it DOES work when I tell AE Buttons to run VJKeyPress with the parameter of 97. Ugh... very odd.
Just for the fun of it, I also tried setting up a button in AE Buttons to run the shortcut that has '97' in it. That didn't work. I'm at a complete loss to figure out what's going on.
It may be that the keypress is occurring, but it's being fed into AE Buttons rather than the Phone Dialler, ie if when you press the required button, AE Button becomes active, which launches VJKeyPress, which presses 1 <b>within</b> AE Button, not the phone dialler.
You could test this by trying other keys and seeing what happens.
Also try activating Word or something else on your phone and launch the shortcut - see if the desired key gets pressed.
Also, you said NumPad1 - this is the number pad on a pc keyboard.
Try 49, which is just key 1.
