Turn on without battery? - HTC Typhoon

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn a SMT5600 on without having a battery? the phone was water damaged and i want to see if it is working before i purchase another battery..
Thanks for any advice.

It is not possible. If you believe your battery is dead, you can try to jumpstart it with a 9v (square) battery. This usually gives it enough of a boost to get going.

Prophet is switching off when battery level reached 28%

Is there someone els who hast got this problem?
The battery level reaches 28% and my XDA Neo switchs itself off. The only way to power it on again, is to connect it with the charger, the USB-cable does not work.
Is it an ROM-Bug or does my battery has got a defect?
I hope someone can help me
Ciao
A sudden drain?
Try checking what % you see just after plugging to mains.
If you see 3-5%, this is the battery draining very fast. So, time to replace it?.
If not, hmmm well, i have to think about that...
After plug in the charger, the battery level is still at 28%.
The battery is new, i bought my device just 4 weeks ago.
Try with another battery
I check in my registry but don't see anything special to modify. Looks like there no key to define a shut-down threshold.
Unfortunately, i've got nothing miracleous to tell:
Try reproducing the same shutoff with another battery. If happens again, then device to repair. If not reproduced, that's the battery.
LiIon batteries have internal controllers to check their charge level. When he device sees 28%, this may be reported wrong bythe controll and real charge may be 1%. That's just a guess but that kind of error should not happen with a new battery.
I'm going to send my battery to the service...
Yes, there are no problems, if I use another battery.
BTW: I heared about, that some other people had nearly the same problem with there battery... maybe it's a failure in a series of batteries?

Atom not charging plssssss help

I have o2 atom and it is not charging at all. When i remove the battery and put it on charging it show the red light of charging and when I turn it on again in actual it has not charged 1% also. When the atom is in on position and I try to charge it then also it does not charge a single percent.
Now the phone is completely dead and if i want to use it I have to charge the battery in a different instrument and put in my device.
The repairing person tells me that there are 14 tracks that are used for charging and activesync which are not responding and that the part has to be changed. I doubt this guy. He says that the part is not available and that he is doing some alteration to charge the battery directly and he says it will not show the red light for charging but the battery will charge in 20 minutes and I should not keep charging for more than 20 minutes as it may be harmful.
Can somebody please help urgently. Should i allow him to do this alteration ? Any other ideas please.
I would not let him do that, no. The easiest and cheapest way for you may be to buy a standalone charger from eBay (desktop charger) with an extra battery, so you use one battery and charge the other. What he's suggesting will of course kill your warranty, and I would fear that it would kill the Atom as well!
Help
My device is also not syncing with my pc. Should i try hard reset. I am asking this because i am worried it might be dead after that .
Please help

Xda Trion No Power

Hi i bough an XDA Trion from my friend, he told me that the battery is dead, so i bough new battery. the phone was working with no problem and in the morning i was going to check the time, the phone was off i tried to turn back on it didint work i was trying to charge it, that didnt work either so there is no power at all i dont know, why can someone help me out, i think one of the fuses blowed up because it was on charge for like 10 hours.
hmmmm there can be many reasons why ur thing doesnt turn on
1. Maybe your brand new battery is broken?
2. USB socket damaged?
3. the flexi copper wire that links your battery to the device are corroded or bent out of shape?
4. Phone is bricked. =[
Safest bet is to buy a desktop charger to charge the battery externally, then see if Activesync still recognizes your device when connected.
it doesnt turn on because there is no power going to the phone. i dont think there is something wrong with the battery because i used the same battery in my friends xda and it works great. so there is something wrong with the phone it doesnt read the power. from the battery and it doesnt charge the battery.
i also checked the socket that battery goes into, electric comes to that socket to charge the battery i checked it with my tung, but the phone doesnt charge battery and you cant turn it on.

Can I use G1 without a battery (AC only)?

Is it possible to turn on the device without the battery in and only the AC mini usb power connector?
I'm modding it into my car for a dedicated media player and have no use for the 1150mAh battery.
I have tried and it doesn't turn on.
Anyone know of a hack?
No it doesnt turn on. A quick thought since I was playing around. The full charge voltage (with no load) for the battery is around 4.1 volts. Its the same voltage which comes to the terminals when connected to power source. So ideally placing a electrolytic capacitor of sufficient capacity might 'behave' like a charged battery triggering the phone to power on. On the other side, the center sensing terminal might still require to send some signal. Some phones dont use this and some use it.
I dont know how the G1 behaves, but if you have a old battery, may be you can take the sensing circuit out of it and instead of LiIon battery terminals replace with a capacitor.
Theoretically this should work, I've not tested though, just a quick thought on how we might achive this. You have to try it out.
Good luck!
Using a capacitor is a very interesting idea, I will try it and let you know.
I have a bunch of 100uf's lying around, probably need bigger though you think?
I think it will be far more than enough due to the very low power requirement for the device. I would think even a 47mfd will be enough. Though if you have 100 lying around. may be try with it.

[Q] Droid X Battery Hard wire to car.

Hello,
this is a bit of a custom job. I want to take my Droidx and make it a dedicated display in my car. My issues are the battery is shot and buying another is more investment than I prefer. also the battery is not going to work for what i'm doing because it will not be on charge as frequently as it need to get a full charge.
so here is what i want to do. I want to hard wire the battery terminals to a 3.7 vdc source and use that as the primary power to the phone. and use the usb power to wake it on entry and while the ignition is on. right now i've got the usb cord without the battery and it works fine. but I wanted to maybe use the battery/usb to wake it. Anyone able to power the phone on the terminals for the battery?
Thanks

The phone works without a battery. Maybe bypass it and connect to USB?

You'll need to have a battery or something to keep it from just turning off when you turn off the car, won't you? I looked into doing something like that with the RasPi, and I you're not supposed to just remove the power supply.
Or can you wire it to wear it has power when the car isn't running?

if i could figure out what the battery supplies the phone then i could wire a 3.7v source to the battery terminals on the phone.
I've had this system wired up for a couple months and it works great. the only issue i've had is the age of this battery makes it not take a charge. so in the heat of the day i get in the car and the battery temp is 100+ the phone is dead because the battery doesn't operate. and the charger can't charge the hot battery and keep the phone powered. I never liked the idea of a battery inside the car. heat + battery = boom (maybe not but it could cause a big mess and damage the phone.
the question i need answered is what is required for the phone to run? what do each of the battery terminals do? obviously one is ground (marked) and one is positive (also marked) the middle terminal has to do with a temp or charge signal. it doesn't power on just the positive and negative to the best i can test it. maybe i'm doing it wrong.
and i have looked at a rasPI. we have one. but i can find a capacitive touch screen that is small enough to fit in my dash (4th gen camaro) without deleting my radio which isn't going to happen. plus they are expensive. idk y tablets and such are cheaper with the same type screen plus the hardware of the tablet.
Almost! Cept with a Hero!
OP: If you still have the battery, you should be able to find the Amperage listed in mHa near the voltage on the batteries sticker. After you have these 2 values you should be able to construct a small circuit to drop your cars internal voltage down to the appropriate level. Hook it up to the 12v from your car at Ignition/Accessory if you want it on whenever you can use the radio, or to the Constant 12v, after the fusebox, to have it usable whenever your car doesn't need a jump! Best of Luck!
So, I'm actually trying something similar right now except with a HTC Hero with a bloated battery that refuses to hold a charge. I've tried several times to boot the phone with just the USB cable, but all I get is a red battery icon : / I'm looking to just hardwire this stupid thing to a plug or even a 9v alternative. This is gonna be used around my house for various things
As of my posting this, I've found 3 threads on slightly similar topics, none with very good/any info tho. Thank you in advance for any help!
