but next stage after a minute or two
it says CONNECTION ERROR 101
i dont know what's wrong
the device sync normal with ACTIVE SYNC
i run AS 4.5
please help me !!
have you put your device into usb mode? if yes connect it to your pc and wait about 10sec before you click update.
USB MODE
Did you try putting it in usb mode? You need to press the record button, power button, and the soft reset button all at the same time. Afterwards the lights will go dim on your BA and it will say USB mode. Attach to the cradle and proceed to upgrade.
active sync issue
It is probably an ActiveSync 4.5 issue.
Try downgrading ActiveSync to version 3.8 and than upgrade your BA to WM6 (try upgrading to WM6 in bootloader mode as indicated in the posts above)...
Good luck.
or... read the wiki upgrade wizard... it's all in there... i think.

help please i can not sync using bluetooth because of the bluetooth option on my active sync is lacking. i can only see the 115200, 19200, 38400, 57600 and USB... any patch for this? thanks...
also, why i can not make any upgrade? my rom version is 1.11, i want to upgrade it to 1.12 or 1.13... everytime i put my device into bootloader, there is data (version of rom and radio) read into my device please help... thanks
I did not quite understand your second question. When you see the rom version number and radio rom number, then you are not in the bootloader mode.
I think you might mean that you cannot get into the bootloader mode. In that base, you need to do another hard reset when you see the boot flash. Actually you need to do TWO hard resets to get the bootloader mode - first reset to the start flash, then before the start flash disappear, do the second reset.
OK, to get bluetooth Active sync working, you can view my guide HERE
To get into Bootloader mode, you need to hold both the camera and power buttons and hit the reset button with your stylus. Continue holding the camera and power buttons until you see "USB 1.0". You wont be able to turn on the backlight when this appears but you should be able to see it ok if you're indoors.
Just tried to upgrade my S200 with a 9100 ROM ver 2.8.7.1 WWE (by mistake of course) and I can't turn it on anymore. Somehow it didn't even warn about wrong ROM.
Tried to hardreset it but no luck. When I keep the camera button it goes to RGB only when connected to the charger.
When connected to PC, the red and blue leds keep flashing and my PC gives Error 260 when I try to revert back to the S200 RUU.
Does anyone know how to bring it back to life? Is there a way to boot it from SD card?

I did the same thing some time ago!
What you need to do is make sure that the battery is fully charged. (The flashing of the screen can be a result of the flat battery.) Unfortunately, it is not possible to charge the battery when the wrong ROM is installed, as the ROM obviously tells the Prophet how to charge.
Let's assume you have an okay battery.
1) Start the Prophet in Boot mode. This is done by pressing and holding the Camera button and then pressing the soft-reset button. Keep holding for about 7 seconds, and the coloured bands should appear.
2) Connect to PC using the UDB cable.
3) Run the correct ROM upgrade. You do not need to be paired with ActiveSync, as the update programs are intelligent.
4) If the update does not work (and it fails at 95%), then try again. If it still fails, try again and do a soft-reset mid-way through. This will kill the ROM upgrade and you should then be able to do it fine after that.
The really important thing is that the battery is charged before you do this. Unless anyone makes a USB cable that can charge AND connect to PC, then a fully charged battery is a must.
Let me know if this helped.
Check this Out
one more step need to be performed which by not ticking off the ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS in the connection settings of the file of the activesync. After configuring it, it would absolutely carry out thy upgrading of ROM for thy Prophet which is in Bootloader mode. Good Luck!

I am a bit confused, does that mean that ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS has to be chacked or unchecked?
I did the same exact mistake. Now, my baterry is fully chaged (which I can check on another phone) but when I put it in S200 it shows that the battery has 0%. Conseqeuntly, when i unplug the power cord the phone dies. I have no way of running the new ROM on it. I tried running a bootable SD but it only installed part of the software. i read on this forum that such a thing happens and that one would need to run a full version ROM from a computer. So, how do I do it??? I am almost giving up all hope of ever making this phone work
Does anyone have a file to boot from SD and is it possible to run a full ROM from SD. Please help!
Guys,
I ve just downloaded this http://rapidshare.com/files/21256078..._DUT_11500.rar romversion in the understanding that it was for the HTC 9000 PDA. There was a file called MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe which I let 'upgrade' my 9000. However, I think something very VERY big went wrong! A reset by pushing the 2 buttons and reset button on the back gives me the option 0 to reset but all I can see after that is a black screen which says USB at the top and at the bottom v1.00
What happened and is this the end of my PDA? Sync won t work anymore now since my PDA can t be detected by windows because I can t get in the PDA!!!
Is there something I can do??!!!
PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!
Edit/Delete Message
sounds like you're just in bootloader mode
I think you are in what's called bootloader mode. Read the wiki to check - the screen you are describing sounds normal to me you plug you device into the comp via usb (with sync over usb disabled in active sync) then install a new rom.
You really shouldn't have tried to flash your rom without reading some instructions first but I think that your device should be fine.
If you have already upgraded your rom just do a hard reset and select the option to reset.
Will this thread help?

I'm sorry, this is the thread I ment to link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310054
strangely enough I found out that I DID use a good version picked from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298020 post. In this thread mwang gives a link to here http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_phorum&Itemid=125&phorum_query=read,40,30486,30486#msg-30486 where I picked the dutch version. I than double clicked the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file and the software for upgrading started. When he was at 100% he said the the ROM update was completed and that I had to do a reset. So, I than pushed the three buttons (2x the - button and the reset button at the back of the 9000) but all I than see is the bootloader menu with USB and V1.00...........
Sorry for putting it in three sub forum, my fault, but the device is from my work so I don t want it to be screwed up!!!

Solution to probl: Stuck in Bootloader
The one way of fixing your problems....you're officialy stuck in bootloader,
Here's the way to fix it:
1. Stop Activesync USB connection on your machine under connection settings.
2. Uni : Reboot Bootloader then Connect USB ( If your phone isn't in bootloader already..)
3. PC : Run mtty1.42.exe ( Download from XDA's ftp site or search the forums, I'm sure you'll find it.)
4. Choose USB in "Port" (Reconnect if can't find/reconglize USB and try remove sim and sd card)
5.1 Press Enter
5.2 USB> (This will show up)
6. Type: Set 14 0
7. Press Enter
8. Run your rom update again and it should flash this time.
did it start??
did it start?? ?
Hi. first post.
Have an o2 exec. Different brand same deice and none of the other methods worked but finally got it working. Using mtty1.42.exe it would not see usb connection and therefore could not go down that route.
I booted into the bootloader mode that says serial at the top and v1.00 at the bottom.
Connected to the pc and cant remember if i stopped wcescomm.exe or not but you can try both ways.
Then started Midget_1990_v1_0_PU10_WWE.exe rom and followed the instructions and voila.
Hope this helps someone.
"Using mtty1.42.exe it would not see usb connection"
You need to disable the usb connection of active sync under connection settings and then only mtty will pick up a usb connection..
hey guys, over the past few days ive had battery problems with my iMate JAMin, i got a new battery, insert it, and power on my device, now, rather than loading up the iMate image, it goes to the tri-color boot screen, i've tried a Soft and Hard reset, no luck , any one willing to try and help solve this problem, please email or PM: [email protected]
Will installing a new rom fix this problem?

If during an upgrade your Prophet fails to start properly or can only enter bootloader follow this:
Recovery
Download and install the latest version of ActiveSync (Google for it)
Download and unzip an AKU2.2 (No Vendor) ROM for the Prophet-any AKU 2.2 will do-from
here (any part one) or
here
Within ActiveSync DISABLE connect through USB (Tools->Connection Settings->Uncheck Allow Connect through USB)
Put the Prophet into bootloader mode (hold the camera button and insert the stylus into the larger hole next to the power socket)
Plug the Prophet in via USB
Run the RUU specific to your device (G3 or G4) from the AKU2.2 folder
Disconnect the Prophet, and then re-enable the connect through USB.
Your Prophet should now work!

I wrote it any way, but since no one reads it I may as well post it here.
When I try to update to WM 6.5 or to Opal_HardSPL_v2_0, or to any other 6.1 updates. I get connection error either 202 or 260, device hangs with wait (4color) circle in the middle.
I tried the following and nothing helps:
Windows 7
XP
Vista
Manual Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.exe file (device hangs)
Updated active sync on xp and wmdc on vista/7
Any thoughts?
I can't enter bootloader screen either, tried by powering down, and then holding volume down key and powering up. It boots straight back to WM.
Hello , so install Hard SPL Manualy in your viva , and next run the updater.
To the best update use Windows XP / Professional
Now I Use Windows 7 to Update Opal
Any Question Contact-me ....
Now i will updated the version 26
I Will Back

thanks for a reply,
when I try to go into SSPL manually, phone hangs with the same 4color circle and soft reboot required.
Is there a problem with my version of opal, is it a cheaper one with bad processor?
I have tried both XP, Vista and now Windows 7, same issue on all of them.
Thanks
I got same error, too. Error 202: connection is not established though my Opal and laptop was sync properly.
make sure that you are connected via ActiveSync.
but when power is off, press both volume key down and send (green) button at the same time and press power button... that triggers the tri-color bootloader menu... and from there you can update your phone.
Device is off.
I press and hold vol down and green button(left), and then press and release power - device boots right into Windows mobile - no boot loader screen.
When I press and hold vol down and red button(right), and then press and release power - device shows blue screen for few seconds and then boots into Windows mobile - no boot loader screen.
Like I said manual HARDSLP file does not work, as device hangs after running this file.
Wha is going on? Is my device broken somehow?

by UPDATE you mean FLASH a new ROM????
can you connect your phone via activesync? if yes...then do this
#go to settings>connections>USB to PC and uncheck/disable/unmark 'Enable faster data synchronization' option.
#establish an activesync connection
#copy the Opal-SSPL-Manual.exe to the phone and run it in the phone
#your phone should go to grey mode (i thinks its what you mean by 'hang')
#now in your PC...run Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.exe and follow the onscreen instructions.
#your phone should reboot and enter into bootloader mode now.
i also suggest that you flash ur opal with a new ROM via the memory card...it is safer than activesync. you can do a search in the forum for 'flash via sd card'. I do it that way only now...no worry about disconnection or connection error... if you cannot find the thread...just let me know and i will try to help you out.
hope that this was helpful...
Correct way to enter into bootloader mode
@All having problems:
Its really weird that you are not able to enter in bootloader mode so most probably you are using the correct way to enter into bootloader mode.
Ok here is the correct way, really detailed.
1. Open your phones back cover.
2. Pull out the stylus.
3. And press the red button which is soft reset button. (No need to hold that button just a press)
4. Soon after pressing the red buton press and hold volume down button. (Now the important thing is dont release volume down button until you reach bootloader mode, You will be there in about 3 sec.)
Note: If the above not working then just before 3rd step press the power button and soon after the vibration of phone on smart mobility screen follow the 3rd step.
