Hi,
I want to flash my XDA Orbit with WM6. o2 has the image on their page, but it first installs WM6 and then destroys many things when it tries to put everything to GPRS, so that users pay much money instead of using the built in WLAN.
I read something about flashing and then soft resetting, so that it cannot run the branding tool. The .cab files with the branding tools an Tomtom and some patches are lying then somewhere. Where?
Is this method good?
When do I have to soft-reset?

Stefan

Just as the unit starts the customisation, directly after the auto-setup routine.
HTH,
Hello,
thank you for the info. I found that out in the meantime, but where are the update files then? I`m unable to find them...

In extended ROM, if you want to take them out, it's possible to cook the same ROM and re-flash it without this part....
If you want to see this stuff, you'll need an application like Total Commander.
Hello,
thank you for the info!
Which version of Total Commander? And why Total Commander? To view cabs? This is possible with WinRar, too. But there are only the installer files and the complete RUU image. I tried TC but I got the same result as with winrar.
Or is the PDA version meant?
I want to use the original ROM from the o2 homepage, just without branding. I have no o2 SIM card, bought it from ebay. And I don't want to unlock it, because of warranty.
regards,
Stefan

Total Commander allows you to look n the extended ROM on your device I presumed you wanted to clear files out that way.

You can look in the RUU image for the nbh file (using WinRAR), then break this apart to take out the ExtROM....

Hope this helps - if not, then I've probably done what you're looking for already and could put it on the FTP site....one of the Mods will tell me if this is a no-no....
Hello again,
I extracted the .nbh file.
"for the nbh file (using WinRAR), then break this apart to take out the ExtROM.."
What to do with it? renaming to .zip or .rar doesn't result in winrar opening it...
It's the german ROM.
I want to flash it as meant and then stop soft-reset when branding wants to start (waiting 3s). And then install only the needed fixes (sd fix, cam fix etc.)

Stefan

Ah. I assumed you had some cooking tools...you need to run NBHExtract, take out the EXTRom, run Dark Simpson's HTC ROM Tool to re-constitute the ROM and then re-flash. Are you happy about all this, or did you want to stay 'official'?

Do you have a link to the German ROM somewhere? I'll happily do all this and post the file somewhere for you to pick up.
Hi,
I don't want to brick it ;-) If I flash a cooked ROM, I have to cid unlock it before. Is this necessary? The premium Rom looks nice. A german version is not available, or did I miss it?
At xda-zone where they postet this, they wrote that somewhere then lying the .cab or .exe files which are executed then. Is it not posssible to extract them? And then install them manually?
On my request where they are no one answered...
I never cooked a rom or something like that, yet.
I can give you the link, but I think you are unable to get it, because there is a serial check before dl. But you can try.
If you have ICQ, I can send it.
http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/O2Wm6SnCheck.aspx
The cam fix (found it in a forum) leads into the cam working good and the new modes are nice but often there is a message that the cam cannot be initialized. Then soft-reset helps.
Do you have the radio fix? Is TMC possible with it? With Navigon?
regards,
Stefan

how to dump the newest 19839 ROM?

thanks
search my friend and it will do you wonders....

in this thread it should show you what you need...
no,this is not the way which can dump the 19839 rom your friend UDk made, and besides they just keep it as a secret and ignore every PM which were sent by the person who would be happy to know the truth.and someone just criticize that the other cookers who just start a "Cooker War" and on the other hand he just make some undumpable Rom as the prove of his selfishness. What a ridiculous phenomena....
You can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384251 tools to dump all polaris ROM's there is only one thing and that is that the cooker removes DSM/RGU files and packages.sof from his ROM and this makes it not possible to use it.

would it be unreasonable to ask for the dsm and rgu's of matching build to be provided, even in a separate archive? i have no problem with placing them into my dump before packaging, just dont like the idea of dsm/rgu from a different build. i prefer clean, true SYS..
edit: im speaking in general, not specifically for 19839. i just think that alot of authors are spending time reconstructing dumps that would be better spent developing with a known good, easily accessible source.

no, they are not. some SYS rgu's have changed between 19716 and 19199/19202/19209. as the dsm contains the build number info, it goes without saying they are different too.
i really mean no disrespect and i appreciate everything you guys do. ervius, your buildos and other tools are appreciated as well as your ROMs. but my point is that we are putting people to unnecessary trouble. what benefit does anyone gain from this?

yes, dsm contains version, but you solve with my dsm patcher...
and rgu, maybe only 19716 are differents, for me no differences from 19199 and last posted...
I think that microsoft provides us with TRUE SYS 19202 (Mar 24 - April 5 - 2008)....
So, there's no reason to patch dsms... to match a non existing version .....

I read on the below mentioned page that adding new cities to TF3D was really easy, and they were right,
the only problem is that i don't want to install something that I'm only going to use once
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408918&highlight=weatherdatabase
So I created my own version, which does the same as the WeatherDatabaseEditor from andreas.falke
with the exception that it requires minimal user intervention so it can be used in SDConfig.txt or similar solutions.
Also if your country is not listed it will make a new entry in the country list.
It has been tested on my MDA Compact4 (Diamond + Dutty's V1.7 Rom)
And it works like a charm, let me know what you think
I'm not sure if it will work on any other device, but because the Diamond is the first of many TF3D devices
the generic "Development & Hacking" forum seemed to be a better choice,
MODs please move this topic if you think it should be in the Diamond App's section.
Currently you'll get a popup when the app is completed, I might change this in future version(s)
Don't forget to edit locations.txt prior to running the app!
Requirements:
- CF.Net, I tested this with 3.5 not sure if it works with 2.0
How To:
1. Save/Unzip (I advise in the internal Storage) just put the files in a folder.
2. Edit locations.txt, there are already a couple locations in there, Region is optional and first line can be ignored.
3. run CmdWC3.exe
4. To be save do a softreset
To Do :
1. Remove the currently selected Cities (or atleast an option to remove them)
2. Make popup optional
3. new version which has an interface, silent operation would be done by arguments "\Storage card\CmdWC3.exe Silent"
Any Comments?
Thanks to
R. DevilR for pointing out how it's done
andreas.falke for his work
idsk for the registry tweak
Garfield for his Tut (Yes i read that one too)
N2A for the website that makes this all possible
-=Edit=-
I've tested with some roms and here are the results
Dutty's Full 1.7 & 1.8 - Works
SwiftBL v6.0 - Works
SCv2.8 NL_Black - Fails
TLR 3.08.07.16 - Fails *
Bepe 0.97 - Fails *
DIB Diamond v1.22 neon - works (thanks Teto )
udK Syrius HD - Failed (Fixed in V5)
* issue is twofold, it looks like they use a different layout of the manila file... working on it
-=Edit 12.12.2008 =-
I recently changed to the udK Syrius HD Rom, but CmdWC3 didn't work, so
made a new version.
My advise, First run Version 3, if this doesn't work run version 5
Restart* and you should be able to select the proper city.
At least that was what I did with the Syrius Rom.
*I just tried with restarting TF3D only and that also seems to do the trick.
Please let me know if it worked (or not) and which Rom you are using.
Thanks
-=edit 01/07/09 =-
Just noticed that the locations.txt included in the first attachment is missing a > next to city....
you could get some error messages...
sorry bout that.

if so what is the foldername of the Windows folder?
I think the App cannot find the manila files...
hi, yes i have a german version, the bepe 0.97 ROM.
The Windows Folder is called "Windows", also standard.
but your cab .exe file is in the internal 4GB Storage, called "Interner Speicher" in german.

The internal Storage naming sholdn't be an issue, I think it has to do with Bepe's rom, the orriginal idea (and application) has the same issue

2. install WeatherDatabaseEditor from andreas.falke, the latest version is 1.1.
If it doesn't work (for TLR or bElite ROM for example), you can try this "patched" WDE (from PPC-Welt, it seems).

which one are you using premium, basic or lite?
I know TLR has tweaked TF3D to be uninstallable (whatever that may mean)
so there are some diffrences..
Could you check if you have the 2330fc3c_manila and _2330fc3c_manila (in \Windows folder)?
could be that they are hidden...
Just so i have it right, the entry does not show up in TF3D...right?
Also could you post the 2330fc3c_manila file?
Small update, I've checked bepe 0.97
it seems that he's using a slightly different version of 2330fc3c_manila
which doesn't have the Countries listed, also
the application cannot change the properties of the file to be able to write to it...
Checking if the Countries are mentioned is not the problem, fixed that already
it is setting the file overwritable thats the issue..
I'm sorry but i don't see a solution besides manually copy pasting a already fixed 2330fc3c_manila & _2330fc3c_manila to the windoes folder...
Sorry
maybe in the future...

I'm trying to add:
Canada,Newfoundland,St. John's,NAM|CA|NL|SAINT JOHN'S
It is complaining about the ' character. I believe your SQL statement is getting confused by the ' in "St. John's" and "SAINT JOHN'S". You need to make sure when you read from the text file you encapsulate the string with quotes like "<string>" before you try to insert into the DB...
Sounds like a great prg, I hope you can fix it for me or give me the src and I will fix it. Thanks!
Hi all, I post this little apps that maybe can help you if you want dump a protected rom (not all, obviously.....) but in some cases it can help.....
how it works:
put a .payload or a .nb file in the same folder of the app, open a command prompt and write:
rom_deprotector os.nb
or
rom_deprotector os.nb.payload
where os.nb / os.nb.payload is the name of your target file.....
wait and finger cross that the target file was protected in a way known by my apps, if my apps "deprotect" the target file, you can dump it then
good lock.....
version 2 a bug on output string solved!
There are a couple different ways to protect a rom. Which method does this one unprotect? imgfs signature mod? file/module header swap?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
I have extracted the nb file out of a nbh file (using NBHextract). Now I try to execute "ROM_Deprotector.exe os.nb" (whereas "os.nb" is the name of my nb file).
But nothing is happening, the command is executed (that means I can type in a new command), but the file stays untouched, and the computer isn't working at all.

Amazing achievement,,,
How can I tell the type of protection added on the rom? Is there a way to find out which rom is capable to be deprotected by your method?
And if you don't mind, I think your tool can be useful as relatively handy to my thread here

If i rememember right Bepe new kitchen, what ervius is based off, it takes the apps.reg and inserts that into the hives, and so you can not decompile it.
also i think this tool just reconstructs the imgfs start address if a chef decided to mess up the imfgs address.

Oh ok. Now I get it. So the tool only reverses the protection which is done on the ROM IMGFS header to make it really undumpable. Right? You right about Bepe's kitchen producing dumpable ROMs but due to lack of dumped DSMs & RGUs the ROM is not re-packagable Cool.. Now I get the drift
Mind sharing how to protect the ROM so can be documented in the tutorials?
Used your deprotect tool, it said deprotection done successfully.
But after dumping bepe's rom, all file names, sizes are correct.
Some files, e.g. .lnk files are correct too.
But all .dll and .sys files are all zero padded, and unusable.

Hey everybody,
I'm cooking a WM6.5.x ROM for HTC Touch Pro / Fuze / Raphael (you call it how you like it). I'm using WM build 23699. Everything is fine, that's no problem But I have a question related to the kernel. I have not updated the kernel, so I only have slot 0 and 1. But are there much advances on updating my kernel to the 'native' one? And where can I find it? And how should I do it?
Thanks in advance!

The advantage to have a native 6.5 Kernel is that you will have a more smooth rom because you will not need to recmode any module thrn the standard for having a booting rom (Ntconfig.dll).
I dont know if it does exist for your phone but you must search for it in its thread, you need to search for Nk.exe.Once you will find it just replace it with the old one in OEMXIPKernel.

The NK.exe is the only thing you need? And is it possible that it is the same as the one from the HTC Diamond? (as the only difference between those two is the keyboard)
Yes ,only nk.exe you need and i doubt that Nk.exe from another device should works.

Okay, I'll search for the NK.exe. And OsKitchen will automatically detect that it is a newer kernel than?
If you will replace the old kernel then OsKitchen will does all the process automatically.

Good lord, update the kernel!!! There's one posted in the native kernel thread.
Here's the one I've been using. I think it's the latest. Just swap it into your xip folder and you'll be good to go. And quit recmodding!!!

Thanks, will I need to update OEMDrivers too? Because I read that sometimes that is needed too And will I be able to un-RecMod everything after updating the kernel?
Look for one of Da_G's kitchens (23016 was the last full one). It has the oem. But the drivers are all the same. I use drivers from the Orange/20779 final raphael rom. Convert all the drivers to modules.

Didn't understand what you are saying here So I need all the OEM packages execpt the OEMDrivers? The OEM packages I have right now are those from the RUU_Raphael_HTC_WWE_5.05.405.1_R_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe
Are that good ones too? Convert all drivers to modules? What do you mean by this? Convert the OEMDrivers in the OEM tab to EXT packages? (Using osKitchen)
Sorry, all you need is the 20779 or 20771 oem. But if you don't want to dump it yourself, get Da_G's kitchen, which is cleaned up a bit. The drivers aren't 6.5-specific. You should convert them all to modules, though.

Allright, if the drivers aren't 6.5 specific, then I can just convert my drivers I have now to EXT-packages?

Why convert them to EXT's? Just leave them in your OEM Drivers folder. And convert them to modules.

Okay. and how do I do that in osKitchen? This is my first kernel update
I don't use that kitchen, but if it doesn't have module creation built-in, get reversemod.exe and manually do the conversion by dragging and dropping the files onto the exe. You should do all the oem driver dll's (they get loaded at startup, anyway, and this will save some virtual memory).
