Hey there,
I'm owning a variant of HTC Nike at the moment, where HTC EndKey is preinstalled in the ROM. Right now it is assigned to lock the device. This is nice, but since this device sports a biotouch display it would be even nicer if this long press would invoke Slide2Unlock2.
The long press starts EndKey.exe. But since this is a protected file, i cannot simply replace this.
Does anybody know a way to or replace EndKey.exe (without customizing the rom and flash it) OR invoke an other executable by HTC Endkey.
Thanks in andvance
Holger
I managed to overwrite the endkey.exe with resco explorer ... very nice.
Hi is there a way to uninstall Endkey?
because after Unsinstall there is a message, that it coult not be uninstalled correctly and if I want to delet it from the Uninstall-list.
But the Button at the Homescreen is still endkey and not Contacts as normal.
P.S sorry for my terrible english

What did you overwrite it with?
Did you just take another program and rename it "endkey.exe" and then copy it into \Windows ?
And if endkey.exe just takes over the right soft key, there are other ways to remap the right softkey, e.g. DotFred's SoftKeyKeyAppletEx.cpl.
Uninstall Endkey

Hmmm - I just installed Endkey and then went to Remove Programs and it removed fine for me (on Tilt). Did you try doing Soft Reset to see if it goes away then?

For some reason on myJAMin I can never execute Messaging from the Messaging.lnk file in Start Menu>Programs - it simply doesn't work. So when I use your applet to set the left key to Messaging I need to manually replace Messaging.lnk by \Windows\tmail.lnk in your Open value for Key 112. I have also replaced the Messaging.lnk in Start Menu>Programs by a shortcut to \Windows\tmail.lnk and renamed it to Messaging.lnk. All of this is sure strange because on my Treo 700W it all works OK.
Thanks for the applet,
Frank
Worked great thanks
Thanks worked for me too. Also have the same problem though when assigning the send sms button to one of the softkeys.
Also another question : how do you assign speed dial to a soft key can not find it in the list.
Thank you!
Thanks alot, it worked with my Neo. But I cannot assign "New SMS and New MMS" to the softkeys, any solutions for this bros?
New SMS being assigned to the Softkey comes up with the error saying tnsms.exe file missing. I believe that APPLET is ripped of some device where there new SMS were started within this program. Any solution known yet?
I had the same issue..
Just copy the file attached (unzip first ofcourse) into your windows folder (on your mobile)
Works like a charm!

Mighty Jesus, that really helped. Thanks.Where did you get the file from?
I made a CAB to automatic install of SoftkeyAppletEX.cpl (from BuzzDev). Now you can put it into ext_rom

how do you remove this softkey app?

This tab was only working in WM6, but with the guide posted in this thread it's possible to have it also in WM5
WM5?
I tried it, but on WM5 it doesn't do anything?
It also does not work for me.
It only produces a huge empty space on my Today-Screen.
I am using WM5
This one won't work for wm5. There is a thread somewhere on xda-d for a wm5 working version. Don't have the link on me, sorry.
It worked for me and I am using WM5. I just followed the directions.
But I cannot find the weather xml file anywhere...
For some reason the Message tab keep bringing up MMS and it used to default to Outlook.
Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?
Thanks
Joe

Awesome board you guys have here, I'm loving everything I'm finding. Two questions-
1. Where can I find the H_0409_WeatherCities.xml file? I searched the board and google, no luck.
2. How can I change the color on the start menu bar, and the bar at the bottom with the soft keys? I want to make them black, to match.
Appreciate the help.

Hey guys. I installed the HTC Action Screen to SD from the sticky thread and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Is there an executable file somewhere that I can open to run this? I would like to have a hardware button launch this if possible. Thanks in advance guys.

htcactionscreen.exe is in /windows folder copy and paste it as shortcut in /windows/start menu/prohrams and then via buttons map a button to it
Does sprint HTC Touch phones have HTC action by default or does it need to be installed? If so, I can't find it in \windows or know how to start it.

Thanks this helped in getting it to work, but now I have one problem. New Task and New Appointment open the original task and calendar, and I have pocket informant. I went into the registry and changed the path to those .lnk files, but this didn't work. Anything else I can do it is it impossible?
Hello to ALL
On the various forums for the HD2 exists much proposals/solutions to change the orientation of the screen.
I did not find ANY Simple solution to do it, much cab are totaly disproportionate for this simple function !!!!!!
I am in favour of the simple solutions: to pass in landscape only when necessary.
Who is able to provide me a SIMPLE procedure to make available, in the icon "Button", the “TALK/SEND” button ?????
I use HD2TWEAK and I could thus assign to a long support the rotation of the screen.
Many many thanks for your help

I've coded a simple app to do what you've asked.
Unzip the attachment on your PC and copy the 2 files to the windows folder on your phone. Then, when you long-hold on the call button it will toggle the screen rotation between portrait and landscape.
Hope this helps
Edit:
I've updated this application a couple of times, and it now comes with a GUI so you can select what orientation you want to toggle with.
It's available from the following thread...

Screen rotation (2010/01/12)
Thank you for CERegEditor program.
But I cannot “change” some registers: (HKLM/System/GWE/Touch/Filter/Minimumtaptime).
=> “Write error Cannot write value data”
An idea?????
Sorry but I have a new question:
The “Contacts” icon list the Contacts AND the SIM content;
Do you know a solution (register) to list ONLY the Contacts in order to preserve the SIM content????
Thanks again

Hi, I unzipped the attachment and get a PLtoggle.exe file and a shortcut folder marked long_send. I've copied both files to my phone and installed the PLToggle hotfix, but when I long hold the call button nothing happens. WHat am I doing wrong?

And what do you mean "installed the PLToggle hotfix"???
Incidentally - there's a new version of this app. See the link in my sig to find it.

I copied them onto my card storage, located PLToggle.exe using file explorer, pressed it and it installed onto my phone and then restarted.
I've heard of folk talking about the windows folder before, what are you referring to when you say windows folder?

Okay - running the exe doesn't install it. Copying it to the windows folder is all you need. (It's not like installing a cab file).
In file explorer go to Menu and select "Show all files". Then, in the root folder of your device, you will have a windows folder. You need to copy PLToggle and long_send into that folder.
I tried and it did very good to rotate my garmin mobile XT.
I will pass this link to my friends.
Thank You, man!

Can you try the one in my signature - PLToggle?
That is a more up-to-date version. I'd actually forgotten about this thread, so I'll delete the original cab and just link the new version.
Thanks for the reminder
Let me know how you get on.
Incidentally I have deleted both folders (programs) in Start menu folder
What would be the easiest way to recover all shortcuts (without reinstalling ROM again)?

Bizarre. Have you restarted since copying the shortcuts? (I don't actually believe that it will help, but it may)
I have restarted, it didn't help
There was another folder inside start menu (beside programs).
I am missing that one too Could you send me this one too, please

The settings folder is empty for everyone, that's why I just gave you the programs folder. It's thrown me that you can't see anything in your start menu, even though you can add quicklinks. Maybe a hard reset is called for. That will definitely fix it, but it's obviously a pain.
I'll play a bit with [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start]
