Greetings,
I'm using a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 stereo Bluetooth headset with my TyTN and so far I have only one gripe - when the headset is connected, the ring tone somes through the handset only, not the phone itself, which means that I'll miss any incoming calls if I don't have the earbuds inserted.
Also, the ring tone sometimes does not start until about 20 seconds after the display has started to announce the incoming call.
I tend to have the earbuds hanging from my neck if I'm not listening to music, and the ring tone is not loud enough to be heard that way.
I suspect this may be by design, because it's assumed that a stereo Bluetooth headset is always in/on the ears when connected to the phone, but I want to use the 970 as my only headset even when I'm not about to listen to music.
Is there any way to get a ring tone from both headset and phone?
/POL
?
Anyone figure this one out yet? I have the same problem...
same here, anyone find a solution please post, I think I can change it from the registry I will check it.
Can I ask you folks a question relating to the use of the headset Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 with the HTC Hermes...do you get all the functionality ie caller ID, the ability to accept and reject the call, compatible with mediaplayer etc.
I have a concern that with the headset not being a HTC product, perhaps some of the Sony functionality may not work with the handset.
Thx
From my experience the ringtones will not come to the speaker if you use the headset as wireless stereo. I only use the headset as handsfree, which makes the ringtones go through the phone.
I used the DS970 for two week with my O2 Trion, feature like Caller Display is No any problem,But when using media player sometime it may out of control, like cann't accept call and control volume or stop.
And the sound quality is acceptable, but it will stop few second after 1 or minutes, I have change the regedit.
May I know is there any way to fix it?
Still no solution?
Anyone come up with a solution to this problem? It really bugs me not to get a ringtone from the unit itself, just thru headset... Works just fine with my old mono handsfree, would be great to have it in the stereo heaseat to...
i have the same problem
hello i have the same problem

thank and sorry for my english
juste a little frenchy
There seams as if there's no solution in sight, I got the exact same problem, also with HBH-DS970 and with Jetware Mobile's "Hands-free extension" installed.
I'm still running WM5, anyone who have tried WM6?
/Fluff
Same "design feature" here with my HBH-DS970 and HTC S710 WM6 Smartphone, so it's not ROM, device or OS version specific. I would suggest this is by design.
I'm pretty sure this is by design since thats how it works on my BT8010. Its stereo so it seems to make sense all sounds go through headset although it would be nice if it was an option. The BT8010 has a button on the headset to take it out of music mode so then they will go through the phone but I guess that doesn't help any of you out much.
Another option would be to just uncheck wireless stereo in the pairing and just check it back when you want to do wirelss stereo.
Here I have connection problem between X1 and DS205, and it may happen to other A2DP headsets. The pairing is OK, music and phone call are also OK. The only issue is whenever ending a phone call (in or out), the DS205 is disconnected anyway, while the BT status is still on. Thus I have to push the play/stop key to connect DS205 and X1 again. Did you run into this problem? Any solution for this? Thank you!

Yes, I have the same problem w/ DS-205 and JVC BT-1 (I had a review post before and talk about this issue as well). I think this is a common problem of HTC device since my ATT Tilt also has the same issue.
Maybe we should complaint to Sony and let Sony gives some pressure to HTC to fix this issue.

Thank you! I have sent my complaint to Sonyericsson, and now I'm waiting for the response. This problem is quite annoying during listening to music. And I guess it's only for the stereo headsets, doesn't happen to the mono one. Am I right?
I’m using R2 and the HBH-IS 800, and I’m wondering if only I encounter these issues… I filed an official complaint to SE already, but it would be helpful if other people can confirm these issues:
In A2DP mode, streaming music from wm player to the headset, leave the range for abou 3 minutes. Then go back into the BT range. The sound will be cracky and you have to restart the phone to solve this. Headset on/off, Bluetooth on/off at the phone, nothing helps.
In normal headset mode, not A2DP, leaving the range, coming back the phone will not pair automatically… You have to do it my pressing the headset button, which brings the phone in A2DP mode. Very annoying, as I leave the office often with the headset in the shirt... And then I wonder why I can't take the call...
And still the issue, BT switch off randomly… , No need to test it…
Thanks a lot, I hope I'm not the only one and SE comes with update…
Whenever i use the MW600 to anwer calls , ppl complain that when they say something they can hear themselves echoing what they said. Anyone with this headset has the same issue or know how to fix it?
Turn the volume down on it then.. Pretty simple fix.
thanx for the suggestion, but turning down volume when using it in car doesn't work, it seems that when you use headset the phones mic doesn't turn off so it picks up the car speakers and that's why people hear themselves echoing
The MW600 isn't made for Car Use... So the issue can be normal!
I've noticed that my MW600 doesn't always sync to Phone and Media audio, sometimes just to Media - which will probably mean that the Mic on the phone is still open, hence the problem you describe.
I've worked out that the way to avoid this is to connect to the phone the following way:
1) Enable Bluetooth on phone
2) Turn on MW600
3) Check in BT setting that both Phone and Media audio are connected and that the headphone symbol is displayed.
I find that if I turn on the MW then activate BT on the phone, they just don't connect properly...
I use mine in the car on a regular basis and find it superb, and have had no complaints
thanx for this tip I'm going to try it, I hope it fixes the echoing
I have some bluetooth headphones, that used to work a treat on my old Touch HD and Iphone, but when I turn on bluetooth on the galaxy s and search for devices, it simply doesn't find them...
Am I doing something wrong, sorry if this has been asked before, new to all this android stuff
Are you putting the headset into pairing mode before scanning for it?
Nope the headset simply has an on off button, it has a 0000 code and that's it ?
Usually a bluetooth headset has to be activated in pairing mode to be detectable for the first time. For example, holding the power button for several seconds etc. You may want to confirm with the instruction manual.
if you paired it the first time, it will automatically detect both features.
just for the record, my good old Motorola HT820 works fine with my SGS, loud and clear
I'm using the Sony Ericsson HBH DS-980 with my Galaxy S with no issues.

i have an slighly older model of this one
i stopped using it due the wires, it gets annoying, it reminds me too much of using regular wired headsets
sound is good only when you stuck the entire plug into your ears, but it hurts after a while
I had the HBH 970, it sucked when it comes to sound quality.
here is my brief review
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7215233&postcount=5
of all the BT stereo headsets i've ever used
Sorry people, thanks for your help and your right, I wasn't holding the button long enough to initially pair the device, DOH!!!
Works a treat now, I thought it couldn't be the device had to me, and it was...
Not quite the same problem as OP, but related to bluetooth headset:
Having problems with a Plantronics Backbeat 903 bluetooth headset connection to my Galaxy S.
(Long story, so stick with me here...)
When I intiate a pairing and connect, everything's fine, but if I shutdown/disconnect the headset and then turn on/connect the headset again later, it seems to have lost the 'media' connection ( but 'phone' connection still appears active).
So, I look in Settings/Wireless And Network/Bluetooth Settings/Backbeat9XX, then long press to bring up 'Options' I see a greyed out 'Media' option. I press this to 'activate' it, and all seems hunky dory, but the headset still doesn't work for 'media'. I go back in thru all the steps & find the 'Media' option greyed out again.
Rinse and repeat; same result. Again & again.
Bottom line: can't seem to get 'Media' active & stay that way.
This headset worked fine with my Motorola Milestone, BTW.
Maybe the A2DP 'stack' is screwy on my phone? How would I check this/change this?
Any ideas?
I have sony DR-BT50 which the quality is very good and so comfortable using it with my laptop or nokia n97 , but I can not discover it by my samsung galaxy s,
