First: Apologies for my bad english speech, my native language is Dutch.
My TYTN is having the flu or something.
I have an alternative firmware but I am positive this is not the problem (I hope HTC does not see this als a violation for not giving any guarantees).
ROM version: Schap's 4.01
ROM date: 10/03/07
Radio: 1.47.00.10
Protocol: 32.80.7020.20H
ExtROM: 4.01.20071111

The display misses half of it's brightness and is flashing like an very old 50hz TV (you can see it very good when you don't look directly into the display, so especially annoying when using the phone as a GPS navigator).
When the background is white, there appears some white to light gray gradients of about 3mm in height, horizontal bars but very light.
Even in the BIOS screen (OK+POWER+RESET) gives the same bars visible
The colors in de display are extremely reduced, it looks like an old 256 color display.
--
The rest works good. I can make telephone calls, the ringer and vibration are OK. Camera works.
Can anyone please tell me if this is a known problem? My dealer expects me to return the phone today.
The firmware on my phone is installed about 1,5 week ago and worked flawlessly.
Please help
I think the display is defective HTC should repair it. But only if you have an original rom on your device. you should reflash the original wm6 from htc. Otherwise your warranty will be void.

Is this OK ????
If this is OK I can send ik back to HTC for service.
I only have doubt about the Olipro version, is dit original HTC?
Olipro is not htc standard.
Maybe it is possible to downgrade but I am not sure about this. What I have read is that once you flash official ROM SPL should be back to standard. But since yours is not I am not sure how to achieve this.

Well I already sent it in. I hope they don't see it as a problem (it is not a software defect so...).
If they do make this a problem they are cutting in their own fingers because my manager gave us these phones to see if it is usable in the organisation. If the service is not 100% good they probably check for other brands.

Hi,
I'm a new (and already happy) owner of this fantastic device.
I've bought the VODEFONE 1640 ITA and suddenly upgraded with latest italian I-MATE ROM image.
The new ROM image works well but I find out that the RADIO IMAGE installed (1.9.0.0) it's older than the original (1.14.0.0).
Right now those are the version of my ROM:
Radio Version: 1.09.00
Protocol Version : 42.42.P8
ExtROM Version: 1.30.81 ITA
Considering I'm a dummy, what are the main differences on those versions?
Moreorer anytime I start the phone I get the error message: "I-MATE CONFIGURATOR application is compatibile only with I-MATE devices. It's suggested to disinstall this apps from the device"
Did I do something wrong or it's a common error after a ROM upgrade?
Thank you for your support and long life to the HTC!!!
Pablo
Please finish reading the following links, although this are all WWE ROMS. You can get the language pack from Asukal's thread.

It is 1.09.00, not 1.9.0.0. Radio 1.09.00 is not too bad a Radio, but again it depend on your network in your area. So the only way to find out which is the best, you have to try it out, because different version works for different person.
HTC products seems to be not getting any better as more competitors are coming up with equal and better devices. Although now Universal is still in its own class, but next year there should be some or at least 1 of such product to give us more choice. Anyway read more in this forum and also my 1 year experience using this device and you will find that the mechanical & battery of Universal by HTC really sucks!
I found a forum thread with a "Ship" version of the ROM.
ROM Version: 1.12.405.1 WWE (World Wide English)
Radio Version: 02.67.90
Bootloader: 1.12.0000
CID: HTC__001
The ROM can be download here.
That could be nice if someone add it to the ftp site.
Enjoy!
Play time!!!!
Thanks for the Ship ROM. Have been wanting to play a bit but was constrained by lack of my Shipped rom. The d/l link is also fast! Did mine in 2.5 minutes.
Will upload to ftp when I get home. This time I will
the above mentioned link to the thread is not working!
this is the correct one:
http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?i=140451&thread=7
according to this, it seems to be P3300 shipping Rom, as device is originally shipped with by htc!(as stated by artemis)

Not working for me.
unlocked mda by imeicheck but get message invalid model id?
Anyone knows why?
i suppose its due to bootloader versions:
G3 device, IPL version should end in .0000 and if you have a G4 device IPL version should end in .0001.
i am in posession of a hero, ipl ending.0001= g4, cid unlocked, running dopod p800w rom and also get "wrongmodelID"
take care trying to get past this security setting has already destroyed one device, so dont fiddle with it unless you know what you are doing!

Uploaded already. Now I am playing with Dopod rom
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
I tried upgarding to SUPER COOL WM6 (after having my new HTC P3300 for 2 WHOLE DAYS), and screwed it up!!!!
Luckily this download saved my stoooopid *ss. Phew!!! Managed to get into the bootloader (it's a bit of a mission), it came up with "USB" at the bottom of the bootloader screen when I connected the phone to my pc.
Ran the .exe file (no activesync), it worked first time, with a progress indicator on the phone.
Now then... I still wanna upgrade to WM6. Can someone please help, what info do you need from the phone to tell me what update Rom I should use?
Thanks again!

Doesn't look like you should have a problem. I don't know what they say about the official WM6 upgrade. I have only returned with the original WM5 on there. Otherwise, things look good. The only thing you might want to check is what IPL/SPL versions came in the WM6 upgrade. Those look like the WM5 ROM versions. Maybe they didn't change. I REALLY doubt they would notice, but if you are the cautious type, may be worth checking out.
Yeah,
simply reflash your device with the original WM5 and you're ready to go!
BTW: the official WM5 from AT&T has SPL 1.09!
but if i have already upgraded to 6 then i thought i couldent go back to 5,
thats why i waited untill the offical 6 came out so that i could load an allowed upgrade to avoid any problems
how to i figure out what SPL the roms come with?
Sure you can! Simply grab the WM5 ROM for the AT&T 8525 (not from the forum!!! - use the one from the HTC site, if you can't find it go to the AT&T wireless homepage and click your way through) and reflash it! It will work just fine, I do it all the time on my 8525 to see if applications I wrote will run on booth OS properly!
well i checked out the HTC sight again , it specifically said you cannot go back to wm5 after upgrading to 6... im sure there is a way, but if the upgrade is through HTC officialy i don't think it voids the warranty..
i did re-install the official WM6 though to make sure the SPL was up to date..
now the SPL is 2.03 and the IPL is 1.04..
so i should be good to go! (i hope!... don't want to be charged 500$ when i only paid 99$ to begin with)
i just hope they send me one with out the white screen problem.
Hi,
i recently bought HTC touch S1 phone from Hong Kong, software on the phone is literary a ****, so i am trying to find out some replacement for it. I found Onyx that is to my likings, i am newbie and stuck. I am not sure is it a HTC or HTC clone so any information would be good if someone knows. Ive heard its possible to flash it with original HTC rom etc.. Would be very kind if someone can explain procedure how to properly do it.
Information behind battery is as follows:
ELF0100
HTC P3450
P/N: 99HDM030-00
In phone software under information is written:
ROM: 1.11.706.1B CHS
ROM Date: 05/24/07
Ril version: 03.07.90
Protocol: 4.1.13.51
RAM size: 128 MB
Nandflash size: 256 MB
Model: ELF0100
Platform: PocketPC
Its all based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
CE OS 5.2.2069 (Build 20269.1.3.0)
Any help, directions or where to look is very helpful and thank you in advance.

ur phone in an elfin
here is more or less all you need to know:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406721
basically
first cid unlock by flashing some USPL or HSPL (this time u have to use the white screen method). i recommend ipl and hspl 3.10.
then flash a new radio if u want (3.34 recommended)
and flash any rom of your choice.
btw, cid unlocking is a different thing from sim unlocking
BE CAREFULL...this may be a ''clone''
First, try to know from the seller if it is a REAL HTC. If it's not, you're gonna brick it. Can you get to the bootloader? What's the SPL?
Easy thing to do, check the USB plug, is it a ''HTC'' mini-USB or a regular mini-USB?
Don't do nothing BEFORE you know if it's a clone or not....
Michel
DO NOT BASE YOUR CONCLUSION ON WHAT'S ON THE LABEL...
Good clones have the same labels as real HTC...
My 0.02
If i'm not wrong, the original HTC Touch has WM 6.0, if you haven't flashed it before, i think you have a clone
It looks like I will have to send my phone back to HTC as the screen has the dreaded white blotches. Havent played with ROM for a while and cant remember if I flashed it to something other than stock upgrades - is the following stock?
OS 5.2.21869
Manila version 2.5.192116619.0
Rom Version 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Rom Date 01/11/10
Radio version 2.06.51.07
Protocol Version 15.30.50.07U
Would it be accepted by HTC in its current state (and does anyone know a way of backing up so I can return all the progs to it in one step when I get it back)?
best thing to tell us is whats in the bootloader mate
how do I find that?
phone off, press and hold vol down, tap and release power.
when coloured stripey screen shows release vol down.
where it says spl, look at the number to the right.
if it ends .0000 its stock, if it ends .hspl its hspl.
the rom info doesn't matter for warranty, only the spl.
great, mine says SPL-1.42.0000 XE so I guess that is telling me its stock and ok to send as is.
yep thatl be fine. 1.42.0000and 1.66.0000 are the two usual spl for the regular leo.
many thanks

Hi there, samsamuel, talking about returning the HD2 for service or repair, I got interested about your reply. You said as long as the original SPL is there and they won't care about the Rom. Just wonder if I have my HSPL reinstalled back to SPL but custom or offical Rom from different region left installed on the handset when I send it back for repair, would they not noticed the Rom is not supposed to be on the machine unless it has been hacked?
not that I need to send mine back, finger crossed. Would like to know how will they deal with these cases if I need to one day.
thx
Hello
Just to share on this topic I sent my HD2 back to HTC for warranty repair with HSPL and a custom ROM on it and all the work was carried out and it came back with SPL and a T Mobile ROM back on it.

well im no expert, and i dont work for any phone repair Co., but no one has reported being refused, except for when they sent it back with hspl still installed.
In theory you 'could' have made the rom into a custom rom using cabs and tweaks and brute force, (in practice you probably couldn't,) but asking the tech to figure out if a rom is official with tweaks or not is not as cut and dried as 'yes hspl is there, thats hacked software, refuse' or 'yep, thats a valid spl, repair it'. You do after all have a windows license, with a certain ammount of tweak rights, but you have no rights at all to the spl.
Bearing in mind the first thing they will do is almost certainly re flash the rom to the rom they are currently shipping, its understandable why this would be the case.

heh, nice.
They do care about the spl and the rom, mate.
I took mine back to Vodafone, and the first thing the guy there tried to check out was the rom version and the spl version. Unfortunately for him, my microwave oven worked "wonders" on the screen and he was never able to actually check anything. They might fix the screen then check for the software part, but hopefully they won't do anything about it.
(I have to mention the fact that it`s not Vodafone who actually fixes devices, it`s a smaller partner of theirs who takes care of faulty decives such as mine.)

yea, i said they care about the spl, its the bit they care about most.
however I've never sent one back, so I'm just going on feedback from people that have, and no ones ever mentioned the rom being a problem, only the hspl.
