Well first of all Sorry about my mistakes in the English but my first language it is Spanish well here it is...
After reading a lot and a lot of research trying to find a way to share the internet my $15 internet with my Laptop PC I found a really easy and nice way to do it over Wifi and USB
First if you have tried to share the internet and you aren't paying $40 to use your phone as a modem you will get an error 67 and maybe and error 1012 for an invalid User Name and Password and you will be disconnected... here are the solutions
1. First Don't pay if you don't have to use free Wifi or Hot Spots
2. If you need Internet All the time like I do don't pay more than it is fair and $15 it is fair $40 it is no fair when you are paying a lot of your monthly payment of your phone to pay 40 bucks more
3. There is no difference between the Sprint Pcs connection and the "Phone as a modem" I know they are some differences I'm not stupid... but in terms of sprint connection there is none that's why Sprint decide to block you from sharing your internet connection if you are paying only $15
4. To solve this get a Registry Editor like PHM Registry Editor and delete this entry: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing" and delete the string value named "Extension" once you have deleted that file is you have Active Sync win windows XP and Windows Mobile Device Center in Vista you just have to go to sharing options in the PPC and click conect it will let you connect to the internet with your USB cable
5.Now for the Wifi now that you Have deleted the file if you want to share your internet over the wifi turn your wifi one and go to Settings Connections Wifi and add a new ad-hoc connection onece you do that you are almost done
6. Now get WMWifiRouter v0.6 and click it and it will do everything for you wait until it say ready and connect your computer to your phone ad-hoc and Vuala Internet Sharing Over Wifi

Hi.
For some reason, I can't operate it.
I get a 3g connection, I can use the internet on mobile device, everything look OK.
I try to do internet sharing, the pc connect (Via USB) to the device but nothing happened.
I noticed that when the internet sharing is disconnected, the windows mobile connection (on the PC ) have a 169.x.x.x IP and when I try the internet sharing it get NO IP!
Any idea ?
Thanks

Did you start the Program Internet Sharing on your Trinity? As fas as I remember you have to start it first and then plug in the USB ....
Hi there,
It does not work also for me since my operator does not allow internet sharing. I explain: my operator sells an unlimited internet access for pocket pc and an unlimited internet access for all devices. The unlimited access for PPC is far cheaper than the unlimited access since they say that you'll use less bandwith surfing on a pocket pc than on a laptop.
I took the unlimited access for PPC and of course when I try to share, i get an error starting the Sharing Program.
Any other method to share the access with a laptop?
Many thanks in advance
Phil

Kinda new to the board so If you could send me a private message I might be able to find this again.. thanks
Have a look at chainfire's app which allows you to do it through wifi:

Wi-fi only?
This link appears to be wi-fi only.. will it work with the Sprint Network.. ?
Yeah, what it does is convert your Mogul's WiFi into an access point. Your laptop will access your Sprint connection as though it were connecting to your wireless router at home.
if my laptop is wireless?
I wouldnt need to use my phone if my latop is Wi-Fi.. Guess what I was wanting is a way to use my laptop using the sprint network, for when I cant get Wi-Fi.
I thought is was possable but I must have been mistaken

This is the point. Your Mogul will be your WiFi access point that will use Sprint internet connection. This is for when you CANNOT get WiFi with your laptop.
OMG !
I'll try it one last time...
1. Your laptop (as you just confirmed) is capable of receiving WiFi.
2. Your Mogul receives Sprint's data connection.
Unless you are not aware, your Mogul is also capable of receiving WiFi (like your laptop). What chaninfire's program does is make your Mogul capable of SENDING a WiFi signal while connected to Sprint so that your laptop will receive it. Your laptop will be connecting to Sprint's network through Mogul's WiFi signal. In other words your Mogul becomes a wireless router.
OK. i get it... Sorry.. was confused
Didnt mean to sound like a idiot.. but I was lost thinking that I could only use Wi-Fi.. But now know I can connect to the Sprint network and using wi-fi to connect my Laptop make perfecr sense.. now if I can just figure out how to get it working.. I'll take a lok at the like you sent me.. If I remember it looked confusing but I'm sure its not as bad as it looks... thanks a lot

The program is super simple. I use it to connect my iPod Touch to the net.

If you follow the instructions you will also unlock the internet sharing app. Once you have followed the instructions in the thread about chainfires app, to share your internet over USB,do the following.
1) terminate the activesync app on your handset
2) Run the internet sharing application
3) As soon as its done connecting, plug in the USB cable.
4) Enjoy the internet. A similar procedure can also be used to connect via bluetooth, but you get better speed over USB or via WiFi.
If you want to use wifi, you can either follow the adhoc method listed in the thread,or you can use a wireless access point. To use a wireless accesspoint, set your WAPs local IP address to 192.168.0.2 Internet connection sharing will want to be 192.168.0.1 Now you need to connect your mogul to the WiFi network, and connect your PC to the wifi network. Go into the network properties and set your pc to 192.168.0.x where x is an unused address. Set the gateway and DNS servers to 192.168.0.1 and your on the internet. As far as I know, this should work with multiple computers on your network, and it will connect up easily and seamlessly when you flip the wifi switch on your mogul.
From the WMWifiRouter topic:
Sprint HTC Mogul/SERO Notes
It seems Sprint is up to shenanigans in regards to tethering for SERO users. Those of you running Sprint ROMs should navigate to the following registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing" and delete the string value named "Extension". This will allow you to connect to the Internet via the Internet Sharing app without the dreaded error 67/authentication errors. Previous to this fix, Mogul SERO users would have to connect to the Internet via another method (such as starting Internet Explorer first) before pressing the Connect button in the the Internet Sharing application.
If you're really paranoid (it has been concluded these entries have no meaning when using Internet Sharing), using a registry editor, navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\WModem" key, and set the "CheckProfile", "Multi-NAI" and "WModemDUN" DWORDS to a decimal value of "0".

WMWifiRouter does this for you automatically, but that isn't much help if you want to share via USB instead of WiFi. The above solution should work with USB as well, and the error 67 goes away. GL
on internet sharing... should it be set to phone as modem or sprint pcs?

With the Mogul you can have your Wifi card on and still be on Sprints EVDO network at the same time. Basically you are broadcasting the EVDO connection wirelessly. I use it on my laptop and get pretty good download speeds. It pretty much like using the Sprint EVDO connection data cards...You have to go into the adapter settings under the connections tab and give it a static IP address (ie 192.168.1.9)
Work with Verizon?
It seems like all of the posts speak about Sprints network, do these methods work with Verizon?
Are there any methods specific to Verizon?
I just signed up with for a SERO account and have one major question regarding the wifi router app... Does it put the phone into "tether" mode? In other words, will sprint be able to detect that you are sharing your connection or does it simply bridge the phone's EV-DO connection to its wifi connection?

It's a bridge but Sprint can always detect it if they wish. A guy over in the WMWifiRouter topic says he has been tethering for quite a while this way and hasn't gotten a bill for it.
Oh So simple.. Bluetooth connection
Well I Got my Mogul like 2 months ago and just stumbled across the internet sharing app and to my suprise it worked.... No Xtra software required
I have a macbook 13'in w 2g ram, bluetooth and all that. I use my mogul with my mac and it works like a charm wish i had EVDO in the area but it is good for now....
Step one: Pair your mogul with your computer.
Step Two: Make sure you Have a connection to the net on your mogul. Use ie to go to a page on your phone (otherwise it will say your username and pass are not right)
Step Three:Open internet sharing on your mogul. Make sure your PC connection is: Bluetooh Pan and the Network connection is: Sprint PCS
Step Four: Tap the connect tab on your phone
Step Five:After the internet sharing has a connection to the net, go to the bluetooth settings on your computer, Select you phone and connect
There you have it Tethering VIA bluetooth with no Xtra software.
here is a question.....what if i need to connect a desktop to the internet using the mogul? how do i go about that? everything is about wifi and there seems to be nothing about connecting a desktop to it.
can someone give me pretty detailed instructs on how as i have never done this before.
thanks
I use pdanet for Verizon Titan. It works very well and simple. Simply connect through usb or bluetooth and bamn..you are connected. It also does not charge you any tethering fee....but acquiring pdanet is a cost unless you can find it somewhere....
problem is I dont know how to "simply" connect through the usb. Im pretty ignorant where this stuff is concerned. is there any free ware that does what pdanet does? not that im a cheapO but hey money saved is money earned right?
Ok i have a wing and internet plan. I try to connect my laptop to my wing via USB but my laptop wont get online.
Will my wing assign the laptop an IP?
Do i need to configure anything on the laptop to get online?
I have active sync working but when i select connect on internet sharing it drop my active sync connection.
This is what works for me...plug the USB to the phone (but not computer) then start the internet connection & make sure it's (NOT) plugged up to the computer...then it wil say ( check USB cable) on your phone...THEN plug in to the laptop and it should work

Does internet sharing show "connected"? Are you using the correct data connection?
Its working now.
You MUST disable your active sync first. That seems silly to me.. but whatever its working great thanks..
Mine disables Activesync, the moment I hit connect on my phone screen....
does this work on the tmobile 5.99 plan?

I 2 get this message wheb trying 2 use internet sharing on my lapton with the t-zone 5.99 proxy "hack" any way 2 get around this????
I've never used the hack, because I've always had the data plan... so I don't know... I don't think it will work properly, but again, I've never dealt with it personally.
Has anyone out there using the hack been successful with this?

yes i connect with the proxy on a regular basis, you have to set IE to work with the proxy. assuming you have IE7 tools/internet options/connections tab/lan settings and check the box that says "use a proxy server for you lan" once you do that enter the same proxy from you r phone along with the port ( 216.155.165.50 :8080 )
you will now be able to surf with the proxy, just remember that when your home and connect you laptop to your Wlan or whatever you have you have to go back into the settings and uncheck the box "use a proxy server for your lan" because if you dont IE will still be trying to reach the net through the proxy server and you will have no internet, the only draw back is that you will have to check and uncheck every time you switch connections.
now i never use anything other than IE so i dont know what programs can reach the net on the proxy.
You Can Do The Same Thing With Firefox
(i Love It Personally)
Much More Faster Than Ie Also No

good to help out, it took me a little nosing around to figure it out and thought i'd share it.
I still can't seem to figure it out. Which connection do I use?
I have a T-mobile Wing, unlimited GPRS internet and also comes with Hotspot.... but can i use that service in my laptop... I can use the GPRS access in my laptop but i dunno how to do with the HOTSPOT.
i would like to know if its possible as well

yes as long as you have activesync you will have the internet sharing setup automatically if you have problems ill help out no problem
Goto -> http://hotspot.t-mobile.com/
Setup your account it is included in your $19.99 package. Most likely you will need to call 611 and they will give you your password that you can change. The User Name is always your 10 digit phone number. After all is configured via that page all you need to do on any wifi enabled device is set you ssid to "tmobile". When you detect a Hotspot network just open up the web broswer on that device and sign in with your 10 digit username and password. That is it.
I think you are slightly confused (main poster). It sounds like you already have the unlimited plan which includes hotspot. So given that, it also says that you know how to share your gprs/edge connection by tethering it with your laptop. So the only point left for confusion is what a hotspot is. Hotspot has nothing to do with gprs/edge. It's a wifi signal at participating locations like kinkos, starbucks, ect... that you simply log in to with your wifi enabled laptop and the 1st screen it will direct you to is the tmobile hotspot webpage. Just enter your tmobile phone number and password that you use to login to the tmobile website that you already use (or should) to just pay your bill online. And then you're in the hotspot... download blissfully and much faster than edge.
I have been searching the forum and the wiki for over an hour and am finding tons of old 2003/2004 threads, and some mid 2008 threads with no responses, about using WModem to provide internet connection.
I want to use my HTC Kaiser over 3G as an internet connection. How do I achieve this? I am using WModem but I have no drivers for it on my computer, and dont want to dial through AT&T's service. The USB_MODEM.zip file links were all old and no longer around.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you just want Internet access the use then Internet Sharing application in Windows Mobile (assuming its in your ROM, if not I think the .cab for it is available?). Assuming your PC is XP and its connected via USB with ActiveSync then it's all pretty automatic.
You need to ensure you have Internet access from the PDA (i.e. you can browse the internet over 3G, GPRS etc), you then start Internet Sharing, select PC Connection USB, and set the 'Network Connection' to your Internet connection (3G, GPRS) and then click 'Connect'. ActiveSync will stop and your PC will discover a new Network Interface (Windows Mobile Internet Sharing Device I thin kit appears as) and thats it. The WM device acts as a DHCP Server & DNS proxy. I use this quite often and it's pretty good - I have a Kaiser and get a good HSDPA connection at home, the connection can vary with travelling though.
If you want to use the PDA as a Modem then you need the Modem Link application (this is where you need to install the Modem Drivers on the PC). I have used this as well but with less sucess.
HTH
